white softbank x01ht - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hello everyone.
Japan just released a new version of x01ht, white in color. Does anyone know if this is sim / cid locked? anyway to unlock it using the tool in the wiki.
Thanks a lot

I saw it in one shop, and all I know it has new ROM version, 1.33.761.5... Hmmmm...

there is no reason for them to release an unlocked softbank phone.
Anyone know the bootloader version?
I've heard that it is > 1.09

i have a Softbank X01ht in white color, but how can i see the bootloader version?

Check Wiki, damn it!!! (Under "Hacks & Tweaks" and "How to Hardreset and/or Enter into Bootloader")
Don't forget to check radio and OS versions...

my white x01ht's bootloader version is 1.09,
OS 5.1.195,
ROM version 1.33.761.5
radio version 1.14.01.10
so, any unlockable method?
thanks a lot...

Yes... here...

There is already a store selling the unlocked version of new "While" X01HT with very expensive price. I am sure the store owner is one of the member here.

X01HT ROM Version 1.33.761.5
I need to know a definite "Yes" or "No" if the X01HT with ROM Version 1.33.761.5 can be unlocked and if so, how do I proceed to doing so? I recently tried upgrading my unit's OS which was running and older version of Windows Mobile to the latest but it went brick on me so I took it in to Softbank and they fixed it but it came back with the current 1.33.761.5 and the Japanese Windows Mobile OS. Help!

Where is this store?!?

Where?
Yes. I too would like to know where this store is and if it's in the Tokyo area. Also, I don't need to buy a unit since I already have one but rather would like to just get it unlocked and have the language changed from the default Japanese to English. There was one place in Tokyo that I used to take all my phones to get them unlocked but that company is no longer in business. If anyone has any "specific" information on where one can go to get this done, then please include the details. Thanks.

blacksamurai, i'll be getting mine next week from Softbank. If pof could come up with a new version of the unlocker that can unlock the new white X01HT that I'll be getting, then I'll help you unlock yours after that - alright?

I can help you for free
black samurai, I can teach how to change to english your X01HT and unlocked. email me at [email protected]

Thanks!
auyongtc and junulrik thanks a lot for wanting to help. I just need to be certain that it's the ROM Version 1.33.761.5 and NOT the ROM Version 1.33.761.4 that you can help me unlock and have the language changed. Word is, the 1.33.761.5 can't yet be unlocked. However, if you are certain you are able to do it, then I'd greatly appreciate your help. The Reason I'm so cautious is because as I mentioned, I had to take it back to Softbank to get it reset and they gave me a knowing look like, "Yeah. We know what you were trying to do!"

New info anyone?
Hey guys. I was wondering if any of you have any updates about the unlocking X01HT's ROM Version 1.33.761.5? Junulrik, I don't know if you received my email I sent you. Perhaps it ended up in your "Junk Mail." In any case, you can email me at [email protected] anytime.

Buy unlocked X01ht in Tokyo
I plan to buy Softbank X01ht unlocked, any information where i can buy this x01ht unlocked version in tokyo?
THX.

Softbank X01HT settings will change after April 1st!!

HTC & Softbank here in Japan have just released an updated ROM for the X01HT. They claim that current un-updated X01HTs will not be able to use the internet connection without updating after April 1st. This is due to them updating their networks.
The new rom is called RUU_X01HT_1.33.761.4_1.14.00.10.exe and can be downloaded from HTC Japan's website. Its 55MB and they say it will take 30 min to update.
This probably means that all you guys who have updated their ROMs here in Japan will have to change their network connection settings.
I hope they included some fixes, namely bluetooth A2DP, into this ROM, but I guess I will have to see what changes after I get around to updating.
Thankfully noted and downloaded...but how will this affect me changing my X01ht to english? It will be japanese again, right?
Yea, it defenetly will send you back to the Japanese version. My guess, from reading their PDFs and info on their site, is that it is a radio and password update. There is no other mention of any other update.
We have 5 months until the contents of that ROM become required. Hopefully within that time, the Awsome people that frequent this forum will be able decipher the contents and kindly tell us what needs to be changed for the people who have converted to English.
Hi, I am planning to buy a X01HT from HK and use it in US. And I am using Tmobile carrier. Just want to verify:
1. Can I upgrade X01HT to some other rom ie. dopod, imate or HTC.. and still function the same since the hardware specification is the same.
2. Does that mean these April 1st rom upgrade is only affecting users that using their phone in Japan only or it will affect us in United States as well?
Thanks

i don't know how it's sold in hk but if it is the same as the original, you need to downgrade the bootloader to 1.04 before flashing any other roms. read this thread that talks about "HOWTO: change a Softbank X01HT from Japanese to English".

the short answer is yes. this only affects people subscribing to the flat-rate data plan of softbank in japan. this rom is only in japanese and you won't need it in the us anyways.
Do we have to install the entire upgrade or is it possible to extract the update for the radio stack. 55MB is rather large...

why do you want just the radio stack? seems the radio version is 1.14.00.10 and is the same as the old one. the rom is changed from 1.33.761.3 to 1.33.761.4.
I was under the impression it was updating the radio as well...
anyway, since my WMDC is not working right now, i cannot install the rom.
i also using it in tokyo ..
but will it make the sim-lock again .. ??
did anybody have updated .. ??

Japanese Rom on SoftBank X01HT

Hello all,
I am a newbie, and wanna try this phone in HK... but they all flash with Chinese rom, just wondering if I can flash it with the latest softbank rom, just posting indicates that it will upgrade the bootloader to 1.09, which will lock the phone. Can someone give me advice before I buy it?
Thanks a lot.

I dont really understand.
Using the Softbank rom, the phone will be simlocked and the radio stack will be read only. Also bootloader will be 1.09.
If you dont live in Japan, there is no need to use this rom. For HK you can settle for most roms that wont lock your phone in this manner. Softbank is really tough there, because of the different market strategy carriers use in Japan.
Call me ignorant. But why do you wanna change the rom to Japanese, living in HK?

Softbank ROM update

Hi there,
I already searched for similar problems and haven't found here, that's why I created this thread.
I'm in Japan using a X01ht pre-December 06 and missed to update the ROM shipped by Softbank at the end of last year. Now I need to use data connection and want to get the update but don't want to send my phone to Softbank, so anyone of you could send me the file to update or tell me another method? Another issue, my phone is SIM unlocked by Pof's unlocker but not CID unlocked, because I don't want to void the warranty at the moment. I intend to CID unlock it in the future when moving out of Japan, in this case, if I use SB's uptaded ROM it won't interfere, right?
Cheers,
GG
No need to CID unlock. Check it.
Ok, but where to get the ROM or ExtRom to get my data connection back? tks

Softbank X01HT questions..

Hi all, I've received a really deal good for a Softbank X01HT. I was wondering if like the other Hermes, the only difference in this unit is the button layout and OS language. If I upgrade to any other Hermes ROM will it function like a regular Hermes? Thank you for replies.
Yes, basically it will work as long as you have your device SIM / CID unlocked.
I say 'basically' because of I found some incompatibilities on my HERMES (a AT&T 8525). It does not accept the German T-Mobile ROM and also not the ORANGE CH. Other than that I did not get any problems.
You might wanna read the HERMES UPGRADE sections in the WIKI first? That should get you started!
Thanks for your quick reply Junner, I appreciate it
Another question has arisen; the unit I'm getting is in english language, so presumably a different ROM has been flashed to it. Does this mean that the phone is now SIM unlocked? Or does Softbank have english versions of their phones as well? Mine will be a white one, not sure when it was manufactured.
Hello,
If its already in English then chances are that it was flashed with a WM5 English ROM. If you're lucky, then the phone could be SIM unlocked, but ROMs can be flashed if the phone is Super CIDed... The white edition models were made after Softbank issued an update for all their phones..
My bet is that your phone is Super CIDed.. but heck, you'll never know these days, you could get lucky and have it SIM unlocked!
Softbank do have english versions of their phones, but the X01HT is just one of their exceptions...
I'm using the Black X01HT flashed with a WM6 Rom.. and its great! You won't be dissapointed!
Hey nesy, thanks for the heads up. I've got the phone in my hands, it works great. It's been flashed with some version of WM6, not sure which flavour. And it's goot IPL 1.01 and SPL 1.40.Olipro. My guess is that this was unlocked by imei-check, and it must be SuperCID too. Will be sure once I probe the internals with mtty. My only concern now is whether if I'm able to upgrade the radio, since I've read reports of some people being unable to flash over radio 1.14.something.
Is there really a downside to being stuck at radio 1.14 found in the Softbank phones? If so, what are they? Improved reception? stability?
well my softbank phone was at radio 1.14, I was able to upgrade it without any problems to 1.50.... you dont really have to upgrade, but I found that any version above 1.2 had better battery life...
I have a X01 that I just bought with a Chinese ROM (I am currently in China) and it was already unlocked. I had no problems putting an English Rom on. Be sure to change the keyboard layout to Japanese, I had mine set to Chinese for a while and 2 buttons were different.
Question: What are the advantages to upgrading the radio? Can anyone provide a link that explains how to upgrade / advantages to upgrading?

I also just upgraded to 1.41... I use the method that temporarily Super-Cids it. But dont ask me how that works because I have no idea.
Could you link me or PM me with how you did that? All the wikis stated that I can't upgrade the radio to anything else because of the bootloader. And I tried it too, the radio ROM gets flashed, but upon reboot, the same old version number is shown. Thanks in advance.

Hey dude, there are many advantages to upgrading the radio.. especially if you're still at 1.14... For instance, in Japan and China, the networks are UMTS here... although radio 1.14 gives satisfactory reception, higher versions improve this as well as enabling HSDPA (higher 3G download speeds) . The battery management is improved, and currently I'm using radio version 1.48 (1.50 was a battery sucker when using WM6)
you should read this before upgrading the radio:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes
and read under 'Upgrading and Cooking'
and to flash the radio you HAVE to install Hard SPL.. this is a modified bootloader for the hermes.. and also it prevents it from bricking when you upgrade the ROM or radio.
Get it and the guide here:
http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=30&Itemid=27
Finally,
Go here:http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_ExtractedRadioRoms
and choose what Extracted Radio ROM that you want to install. Download it, run the EXE file and run through the program wizard.
After the radio has been uploaded to your device, it should reboot and you'll hopefully see some improvement!
Also another thing, be sure to search the forums, there are many great guides here, much better than my attempt
Hopefully that answers your question Pasan, you could try to do the method mentioned above by courtlandre which is to temporarily SuperCID it, but I didn't use that, i ended up unlocking my phone and SuperCID'ed it... so that my upgrade process will always be stress-free

I am using SPL 1.10 I think (wiki or a sticky will have instructions on how to install this).
Then I just downloaded the radio rom and installed it. Worked fine with no problems.
Thanks neshyd, I once tried upgrading to HardSPL 2.30 but it didn't work, upon reboot it was still on 1.40.olipro. This phone was unlocked by the imei-check people and they may have done something to prevent future SPL upgrades.

is this SSPL?
I guess you guys have older Softbanks, mine is a post April 07 model which does not allow the radio to be upgraded

[Q] Newbie question

Hello, this is my first post and I am glad I joined this brilliant community with so many helpful people and resources.
I am getting a Blackstone in the next 24 hours from Orange UK and wanted to ask if the Orange device has the same programs and versions and no difference at all as the retail version (sim free, WWE, etc) that can be bought from other vendors.
And also wanted to know if installing the ROMs that are designed here would do the debranding of the Orange UK device. If the ROMs don't do that - and the Orange HD is different to the retail version - what should I do to debrand my new HD to make it similar to the retail ones? ( I know that flashing them will not unlock the sim).
Thanks.

Welcome to XDA-Devs. I am not in the UK so I can't speak specifically about the the Orange HD device. I purchased mine from a retailer which was the HTC Touch HD with no mobile branding. This phone is not sim-locked to a mobile carrier so I can use whichever GSM carrier I so choose.
Typically phones "branded" for companies are cheaper and at a reduced price. Once you flash a ROM however all the Orange software, etc. will be gone. You can flash a shipped WWE HTC ROM version if you like and get all same software that I had on my phone.
Just make sure you have HardSPL on you device before you flash.
I highly recommend you try one of the cooked ROMs on XDA after you play around with your device for a while.
Thanks for your reply.
I was asking about the differences between Orange branded ones and SIM free ones because usually Orange have made changes in the previous original devices the sell and they become very sluggish and take off some factory settings and features.
I read about installing or having the HardSPL and understand that I need to use it and then install or flash a ROM. Just will need some time or advice on which ones to choose to have or at least a preview or some pics of how the device works or looks after each of them.
hello:
welcome to Xda.
i am in US and i got my phone from UK. it is unlocked, unbranded version. it came with europe version stock rom. there is no special software in it. i also tried orange uk version rom. it has exactly same software in europe wwe rom.
so you dont have to worry about the rom. they are the same.
Thanks for the replies.
I just got the HTD HD from Orange UK today and it seems with this model they didn't make any changes to the original OS - at least it looks like it.
I have been reading about SIM unlocking for the HD in another thread and wanted to ask if it is ok to SIM unlock and if it will remain unlocked after using HSPL and ROMs created here. Or should I go for the HardSPL and ROMs first and leave the SIM unlock for last? Also wanted to know which HardSPL and ROMs are the most used or prefered by most people in the forums so I could know which one to go for.
Orange HD
i also have the orange - not so bright - Touch Hd
there is no network branding or software on the handset - luckily for us

Once you SIM unlock it will stay that way. It can't be reversed by flashing another ROM.
