OK, I realize that this won't matter to many of you, but since I searched on here earlier hoping someone would know, maybe I can help someone in the future.
If you use Microsoft Money 2003 and sync it to your handheld, you'll find that once upgraded to Windows Mobile 2003, the installer won't install on the handheld (It expects PPC 2002). To work around this, you need to visit Microsoft's site www.microsoft.com/money and download the 2004 version of pocket pc money. Now it will install on the handheld but won't recognize money on the PC, so you download the older PPC 2002 file (from www.pocketpc.com's download section) and it will create the appropriate entry in ActiveSync.
Just an example of an oddity, perhaps it will help someone else.
I ended up upgrading to PPC money 2004 and then to Money Deluxe 2004 to get it to work properly. Both files can be found for free if you search around. I used eDonkey.
If thats not blatent I dont know what is ... LOL
like record companies... if Microsoft stopped screwing its customers then they might actually buy something?
I'm a little against using software from MS that I havent bought.... means they can still add me as statistic on who uses Microsoft...
80% of desktops run Windows... prolly 25% of that is legit
Pocket money 2004 for WM2003 and for MS Money 2004 is exist.

Even if It was one year ago, problems are always the same. I have upgraded to MicrosoftMoney 2005, an Cash Organizer Money Sync 1.1(the last one) doesn't recognize MM2005 version (it aspects 2004 one) and so I can't install it on my PC and on my Qtek2020. I had upgraded MM2004 version to 2005 one, manteining Cash Organizer Money Sync 1.1 installed. But on Syncronizeing it didn't recognize MM2005 version. Than I tried to uninstall Cash Organizer Money Sync 1.1 and to install it trying to let its see MM2005...but it didn't.How can I create the appropriate entry in ActiveSync so that MM2005 be recognized?

Ehm... ...
Okay, right part of the forum this time.
I need the old WM5 (Or earlier, whatever anyone has) version of Pocket Internet Explorer because a remote control program I have for my desktop PC won't work with the new version, and alternate browsers (I've tried all I can find) don't seem to be able to launch the client program that it needs to work. So, if anyone has a copy of this or can at least tell me a way to extract it from my old pocket PC (it's in there, but a locked system file that I can't figure out how to copy) it would be enormously appreciated. If not, can someone recommend a really fast remote control server/client application for Windows XP/WM 6? I tried a VNC combo a while back and it was too slow to use for what I'd need it for (Do different VNC server apps work faster?) and I don't have XP Pro, so I don't think I can use the WM6 Remote Desktop Mobile app (As it seems to require that remote server that XP Pro has.. Can't recall the name right now) I saw the WM6 version of Internet Explorer Mobile on the forums archive, so I know it's possible to extract the IE programs I just can't figure out for the life of me how it was done. x.x Not to mention I'm not even sure if the old version of PIE will help this problem any. Seeing as how I am running out of ideas though, I have to try it. I'll update in this thread if I get any new information.
Thanks in advance,
Vena
Update -- Issue resolved! After much googleing, and tons of sites with no answer, I solved the problem myself with a good, old-fashioned directory peek. *feels stupid for not checking this first* See, there was a file in the directory of the remote control program I was using, and all I had to do was add some lines to tell it what the new internet explorer was. Once I did that, and reloaded the program a few times, it worked perfectly. So, if anyone else ever has any trouble with getting Remotely Anywhere to work on a WM6 device, just unzip the attached file and put it in the Remotely Anywhere install directory (Probably C:\Program Files\Remotely Anywhere).
This may be hard to believe but windows 2008 server Standard is FAR FASTER than running Vista SP1 on your Shift.
I have installed Server 2008 today and it runs really quickly. It also runs with approximately 490MB of RAM free and responds to starting applications much better...
There are however a few issues........
1. ShagCtrl.exe doesn't run properly it complains about WLANAPI.DLL not being present.
2. The touch screen doesn't work.
Everything else does and works much faster than using VISTA.
Anyone post for me the WLANAPI.DLL so i don't have to re-install vista just to get it please and let me know where it should be placed...
Thanks
Fascinating !!
You actually did what I didn't dare to do.. !!
I assume that there are a few people here capable of delivering what you asked.
The problem might be the touchscreen drivers, to get those working...
I'll keep a close watch on this thread.
One question, did you delete the recovery partition ?
ANother question, did you attach an external DVD an booted from it ?
In the boot menu, there's no option , maybe I should attach a USB DVD or Ethernet connection ?
EDIT : forgot to say that there's postings on this forum offering the drivers seperately. Maybe you can install them ?
Drivers and stuff
Yeah kept the recovery partition F3+FN intact.......
Booted off an external USB DVD device (which shows up on FN+F10)
I have all the drivers separately but was missing some DLLs.
Recovered to VISTA last night and copied off Program Files & WINDOWS to capture all the DLLs and infs....
Re-installing 2008 Server now...
Will let you know how i get on........ But it's sooooo much quicker.....
Microsoft really have optimised Server 2008 over Vista even though is shares some of the same kernel.........
I think a better way forward is to get it to work with Server 2008....
Regards
Blitz
wow, great job mate, but how much does server 2008 cost?
and is it worth that cost, considering vista is installed free?
Rory
I'm an MSND member (Technet PLUS) which sets you down about 400$ a year. In return, you can install any OS they ever made with a key. 4 timees per key if im correct. So m Windows 2008 is payed for already, but understand not everybody has technet plus from microsoft.
It's a darn good deal.
If you do get ShagCtrl and VitaKey work with your Windows server 2008 I think that might make me install Server 2008 as well.
Good Luck and let us know how it turns out!
sorry for my ignorance, but does Server 2008 behave in a similar way to Vista? can you install the same apps? i.e. would Skype work? what would be the main disadvantages of doing this?
Hi there,
I was trying pretty hard to get Windows Live Messenger to work on my MDA Compact IV (SwiftBL ROM) and I've finally done it!
This is what I did:
- Install Windows Live NoIM 0409.cab
- Soft reset
- Install Windows Live 10.6.39.1300.cab (with messenger)
- Soft reset
Other versions I've tried had problems like Messenger not loading up (executing it does nothing at all) or cannot tap to sign in to windows live, cannot tap to sign in to messenger, laggy/slow execution of windows live, etc.
Hope this helps someone!
Sir,
This is the solution for me! I've been trying to install Windows Live Messenger for weeks now, and this one finally worked on my MDA Vario IV. Thank you!
awesome! thanks for the fix, used it on my Axim X50V wm 6.1

thank...it work on my t-mobile mda compact 4
Thanks, working on my diamond.
good job!!thanks a lot!
I just reinstaled the messenger cab and it worked again, phew
worked perfect! thanks!
Confirmed this works for a Dutch T-Mobile MDA Vario IV. (Touch Pro)
I just ran all the programs you (topicstarter) described and it works like a charm. Didn't try without installing the NoIM package first.
Thanks for the help.
I'm going to try this on my girlfriends MDA Compact IV (Touch Diamond) too, but judging from the comments from other users, it will probably work.
I had been running a LIVE Messenger cab from XDA on my Vario III, but it refused to run on my girlfriends Compact IV. At some point I gave up looking for a solution... Until I got my Vario IV
Used fring for a while, but it crashes for no reason and it appears (from their forums) that Fring stores all your IM passwords in a central database... Not something I really like.
lol no offense to the OP, but that method is pretty dumb. not only does it take a while to do, but it also downgrades you back to the older version of 10.6.39.1300
....check out the screenshot attachment in this post at the bottom. *gasp!* version 10.6.42.1900 with Messenger listed as an Installed Component.
All you need to do folks is re-add the registry keys that the NoIM installation removes for Messenger, and then WLMMessenger.exe executes and logs in just fine.
Attached in this post is a registry file in RestoreWLMMessenger.zip. You can use your favorite registry editing program to import it, or, my preferred method: use CeRegEditor (http://ceregeditor.mdsoft.pl). A very handy freeware PC program that lets you edit your device's registry once connected. Click the very first button in the toolbar to establish a connection after you plugged in your device, and then press CTRL+I to import the registry file.
...And you're done! No reset required.
To restore your Messenger icon in your Programs window, (because the NoIM installation also removes that!!!!), copy the Messenger.lnk file (also in the RestoreWLMMessenger.zip file) to your \Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder on your device.
I thought of making a .CAB to do all this for you but it would add a redundant entry to your Remove Programs list. It's better without the clutter
On the other hand a modified .CAB of the NoIM installation with its _setup.xml modified to include the missing registry keys would work as well, (though other files in the .CAB would also need to be altered).
For T-Mobile users: T-Mobile has come with a Windows Live for Windows devices. You can download it from their site.
Hi!
Maybe you have heard from the great tool "dropbox" who synchronize your files at the desktop-pc, laptop and so on - easy to handle like an normal folder:
www.getdropbox.com
It also works with an browser-client when you are at a "foreign" pc.
The only problem is - it doesn´t work with the opera-browser or mobile internet explorer, maybe it depends on win mobile 6.1?
The last files you worked with are displayed, but not the folders.
Also the iphone-version of the browser-client: www.getdropbox.com/iphone
So maybe anyone knows an solution to handle that?
Thx for listening and sorry about my english ,
Epi
I'm too searching for solution for getdropbox on WM6 or maybe even some similar software for phone-to-pc file syncronization. Maybe somebody knows soft like this for Windows Mobile?
sugarsync -but the free version only works with two computers, but the same 2GB as with dropbox.
Concentrate, thanks for a tip!
It's seems like a good service!
http://www.mesh.com/ - supports wm6 as you'd expect. Great service.
Try Iris browser
Maybe it works

If I modify a Word document (that is saved in a shared Sugarsync folder) on my X1 , it does not update on the cloud or my laptop (where I also have Sugarsync installed). (Though it WILL update the name if renamed.... strange). ANyone else noticed this? ANyone found ANY program where you can sync Word documents wirelessly BOTH ways, just by saving it?
Mesh is not available for mobile devices yet, as far as I can tell.
