So, weirdest thing. While listening to music on the stock sense player yesterday i moved my headphone cord on my Dr. Dre beats in a vertical direction to avoid tangling and my HD2 immediately begins to redial the last call on my history. I repeated this about, 3 to 4 times successfully, although it would be important to mention that it doesnt act this way every single time i jerk my cord, but a good 1 of 4 times. Any thoughts??
P.S. i am usind the Dre Studios, the larger model, and no i was not using the extra cord that has a built-in volume control and mic
yeah i notice something like that when i plug in my hd2 to my car i dont remember if i was playing with the volume or the cord but the voice command keep running over and over.
Bad music is bad music regardless of the device you play it on. The HD2 is smart enough to actually try and call for help. Load some System of a Down on your device, rm -rf all rap/hip-hop, and you should see your problem remedied instantly.

dude don't say that cause im just gonna spend 200 bucks on something i maybe use 4 times a month lol
its 350 and trust me you wouldnt be using them 4 times a month , after u hear them you wont be able to listen to anything else
Well I stand corrected (about the headphones only ). Headphones sound only as good as the source audio, and most of my mp3s are crappy 96kbps from the napster era. Is the HD2 capable of pushing out good quality audio (over 48kHz 24bit?).
The dialing might be a remnant of the way HTC used to wire their extUSB/Audio-Out, and since they allow for music controls, maybe it's making contact signaling to dial. I'll receive my HD2 on Monday, so I don't know yet, do 3.5 mm plus feel like they go in correctly all the way in? are the Beats' plugs anything fancy that might not connect right?
Yeah, Beats By: Dr. Dre are pretty ****ing incredible.
I'm a bit of an audiophile... and I've owned quite a few excellent headsets from, Sennheiser, Astro, and Tritton.
But in terms of MP3 player specific headphones... these are the best!
NOW, having said that... if you haven't tried using the application, WOW SRS HD for Windows Mobile, then you haven't fully experienced what your Beats By Dre are capable of outputting.

No alternative DRIVER necessary.
You simply install the .CAB file on that thread... and perform a soft reset immediately after the installation process is complete. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS read the instructions (if they're provided) ... CAREFULLY!
it would be nice to have a deck with speakers like the iphone has from bose or other. I swear i think im just gonna get an iphone just because they have alot of apps and nice titanium and carbon fiber cases. but i want the beats the small ones not the dj ones
my Vmoda's do the same thing. the default HTC headphones do not, but the soudn quality is horrible.
I really appreciate the quick responses guys, xda ftw!!!! Unfortunately, my problem still exists. I see that other people have similar problems but no one seems too concerned with a fix. But, since the thread is not dead, im not concerned much. Shoutout to Reignzone because the before and after with teh WOW SRS HD was indeed wow.

Anytime boss, anytime. Glad to have been of some help with that suggestion...
Seriously, even a Wal-mart, bull**** pair of earbuds sounds high-quality with the WOW SRS application.
It doesn't do that with my AKG K271s... Or Beyers...
It could be a sign telling you not to use the Beats... Yes, I have tried them. Didn't like the overblown bass.
get a life deuche, this isnt the place to discuss your horrible taste in music

I use the Audio Booster that came standard on my HD2. It helps out a lot. No joke. A lot of pre-sets or you can customize it yourself I am sure. You should give that a shot. I try to avoid installing cabs when something similar is already stock on the phone. I guess I got that habit from my wing due to the lack of memory. But i dont think you have to worry about that with this bad boy HD2!
The audio booster has nothing on WOW SRS, at least imo.

Lol, saying you like WOW SRS just took away your audiophile card, every implementation ive herd of WOW SRS just mangles and screws up the dynamic range of audio.
Hey guys,
So pretty much all of us here know how awful the loudspeaker is on our myTouch 4g...
We also know that there are software mods to 'help' with the overall quality of the sound via equalizers... DSP Manager?
But..I personally don't find it helps all that much..let's face it, it still sounds pretty crappy =P
So..I was thinking...
Is there an alternative, OEM, speaker that we can use to replace the one in our phone???
Perhaps, we could find a speaker for a different device that has good quality, and install it in ours. I get there would probably be compatibility issues....
But surely there must be at least one other device whose speaker works well AND is compatible with our phone
If you have any info on the specifics or compatible devices/components...
Open to all positive suggestions. Would love to hear everyone's take on this matter.
THANKS
Ok, in light of my recent hair-pulling problems with CM10.1 lately, I have decided to give to the community instead of taking from it.
The Mega-Audiorific Atrix Discussion Thread
Drumroll please... Wait... How could I forget about the bass.
If you are lazy with listening to music (shame on you), skip to 0:56
This thread is here for 2 reasons.
Code:
1. It is hard to find the information I'm about to provide.
2. I want people to provide their insight on anything music related to the Atrix such as the following:
Examples:
* What music player app do you like the most on your Atrix?
* What audio format do you listen to normally (MP3, FLAC) with it?
* What apps make your music sound better on the Moto Atrix?
* What rom makes the audio sound the best for you?
* What music sounds the best on your Atrix?
To keep this thread in this subforum however, and not the General Android Discussion section,
I ask that you only provide answers to these questions regarding the Atrix, and make that known.
This is not a "I love this artist!" or "I don't think you know very much about music." thread.
Please keep replies to a minimum, so that this does not get flooded with flamers or Nazi's (no offense meant...sorry if I offended).
Everyone has their opinion, and they have the right to defend it, but they don't have the right to attack with it.
Be mature. Pushing opinions on others will get you nowhere. Opinions are opinions, not facts.
Without further ado, let's get started.
And I will start with the main reason audio sounds generally better with your Atrix.
The reason your Atrix sounds so good is... (dun dun duuuuuh...badum ch!!)
The Atrix 4G has a dedicated audio chip in it! =3 It's a medium-low end Wolfson chip.
Hard to find the info for it, but I wanted to know what made PowerAMP with FLAC
sound so good compared to an iPhone with ALAC. (both with equalizer off, charger port on iPhone -> Audio jack/headphones)
If you do some digging, you'll find this to be true.
I'm going to miss my Atrix when it becomes time to move on to another phone
I have my eyes set on the HTC One X+ or the Samsung Galaxy S4,
depending on what my budget is when the time comes.

Cool. I haven''t heard of XenoAMP. I'll check it out.
I guess I can answer the questions with my answers. Also, future readers, please don't think that you have to use these questions, specifically. This is a discussion thread! It's not just a poll!
1: I've used PowerAMP since I got into FLAC. For me, nothing has beaten the audio quality and ranges I can get out of PowerAMP.
2: I guess I answered this in #1 and my OP. I love and always will use FLAC. With that said, the best way to do this is to purchase the CDs yourself! To be honest, most local CDs are the same price, or even less expensive, than iTunes or other markets (Import albums, of course, cost more usually). Not only that, but you get upwards 10x the quality! How can you beat that? Seriously, try sticking an official CD (not burned from iTunes) in your car radio, if you have one, and hear the difference for yourself!
Of course, I understand that MP3's are way smaller, and going along with what andresrivas said, not everyone has a 16+GB SD card. xD
3: I will say that when I used to use GB, and I was testing out audio, I didn't feel like spending time working on PowerAMP's 10-band equalizer. It was just too much. So, I looked into other apps, and found that Equalizer helped to make things sound better, using its 5 band equalizer and many presets that I actually used to use. Check it out if you're looking for a better equalizer for your entire phone! (I'm guessing XenoAMP does something similar?)
4: Actually, recently I trying CM9 out (krystianp's version with the 3.1.10 kernel), and my phone sounded better than I heard it immediately upon restoring my PowerAMP app+data through TiBu (Titanium Backup) Pro. It was amazing, and I hadn't even changed the usual preset's settings that I used. For some reason, CM10.1 by Epinter doesn't sound as good though, which saddens me...
5: Drum & Bass. The phone and the audio systems I regularly use are able to really pick up those residual base backgrounds along with the short, punchy beats up front. Also, Hifana's albums sound amazing! You can check one of their songs out here, if you're interested. I linked to track 12 because it's awesome and shows you their style, but you will need to sign in to listen. I highly recommend this site for listening, because it's much higher quality than Youtube (almost lossless, it feels like), and they have a lot of albums available for free listening...
If you want more of Hifana, listen to that whole album, and then check out their Channel H album. All of their music is good, in my opinion.

Sorry to hear about that.
You should try searching the forums, something like "Atrix 4G no sound" or "Atrix 4G sound issue". Adding your rom name or searching "stock" in addition to those might help if they apply to you.
I realize that you're just commenting on your situation (and not asking for support). Thanks for this.
If you're on stock, I can't help you much anyways. I haven't used stock Atrix in 2 years. I would search first, as per XDA rules/requests (plus it's just being courteous), then ask in the Atrix Q & A section of the forum. Perhaps a rom reinstall might help? (You can Factory Reset without rooting/unlocking bootloader)
Make sure to read instructions in the General threads, and of course the Beginners' Guide. They might help as well.
Just thought I'd try to help
(For future readers) This is in the general section, so support questions don't apply here. I'd also prefer not to have support question clutter. (I know you weren't exactly doing so, crack.mech )

Thanks for the suggestions Drakonas. I have been flashing different ROMs for a while now, and it doesn't seem to help. Though I hear some sort of crackling noise through the headset when I turn up the volume to full while playing music. As per my (re)search this seems to be a flex cable issue, but seems a bit wierd, as the speaker is not connected via flex cable ( I have opened up my atrix a few times!1 ). So I seriously doubt replacing the flex cable would help. But except for the audio issues, my atrix is still going strong, all thanks to the great developer community here.
And, I am seriously sorry to hijack this thread. Please accept my apologies.

1. Yep... I like it too.
2. Hey, whatever suits your preference.
3. Yeah, with some tweaking of it, you can get good sound. (This is from/for CyanogenMod roms for those who don't know) If I'm listening to music with PowerAMP, though, I don't like DSP Manager on. It's my preference, since I've customized PowerAMP's 10-band equalizer myself, vs DSP Manager's 5-band equalizer. Running 10-band through 5-band can defeat the purpose of the 10-band, but it depends I suppose.
4. Love CyanogenMod! Are you using a popular rom, by chance? I don't have the knowledge to customize a rom yet, so I usually just use one of the pre-built roms out there. My favorite for CM7 on the Atrix was Neutrino, but I changed to Atrix-MROM because it had the same battery-life and even better performance for me. Plus, the developer knows more what he's doing. He's part of the new 4.0 Kernel Project team.
5. I don't really listen to heavy metal, not anymore at least. I guess I grew up around teens that listened to it and thought it was the most amazing thing ever. (plus they often didn't care to try any other music. This probably differs you from them, hopefully ) I soon learned that there are thousands and possibly millions of styles of music out there, and there's more around every doorstep. I've spent the last 5 years building my music tastes, and I've switched favorite genres about 20 times, until I found the underground 20-year-old Drum & Bass scene.
But to each their own. Any specific artists that you like? I used to listen to DragonForce a lot, but I guess that's more Power Metal than Heavy Metal.

1. Hey, saving music in the cloud can be really useful. I guess the only reason I wouldn't want to is (A) I prefer FLAC which isn't usually provided and (B) I don't have a data plan currently, so playing on the go would be impossible. I have a lot of space anyways... I suppose you have a phone without much space to hold music?
2. Again, space. Plus I suppose it's the best format to use with Play Music.
3. Yeah, DSP really helps with MP3. I agree. I will say that if you get better headphones, you'll get better bass and clarity. I recommend some $10 to $20 Koss in-ear headphones for the lowest price, if you're not the person to have money laying around. Off-brand are usually crap, like Skullcandy. And for goodness sakes, if you want high-end headphones don't buy Beats by Dr. Dre. It is well known that they are overpriced pieces of crap compared to what you could get for half (or even less) of the price. Get some Audio-Technica Over-the-ears if you have that kind of money.
4. I love MROM. Best CM7 for Atrix in my opinion.
5. Nice! Make sure you check out Autechre and Flying Lotus, if you haven't already!

Atrix MROM with Shure E4c
Nice to know there are still Atrix fans. I am addicted to the sound quality delivered by Moto Atrix since 2011. Now I have three of it (one 2.3.4 as mobile, one MROM with minor touch screen defect as music player and one brand new as spare).
music app -> DoomPlay (it plays additional ALAC, 24bit96 WAV, BUT play mp3 may distort);
audio format -> mainly 16_44 WAV, some ALAC;
app sound better -> DSP manager with enabled bass boost set moderate, enabled equaliser set acoustic;
rom sound best -> MROM with DSP manager
best music sounds -> M.J., The Carpenters, Korea OST like ht tps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6n5Ho9n9OPM
Moto Atrix drives my shure E4c earphone pretty well. No portable amplifier required.
Instead of MROM, I find the music sound seems a bit better from my Atrix 2.2.2.
I can feel the pure silence, position is more accurate and more crisp clear.
Hi guys,
I recently upgraded from the S3 to the S4 once I saw the S5 wasn't that great IMO. I just want to know if anyone feels the S3 had better volume when making calls. I will sometimes have people on speaker and I can barely hear them (I can but it's a strain) I never had that issue with S3.
I also feel like the vibration is softer, I've missed several calls when the phone was in my pocket or right next to me on the bed. Never had that issue w/ the S3.
I see a couple of audio fix and tweaks but it seem to only be for media audio than speaking on the phone. I've been searching for about a week and still haven't found anything solid. I tried Volume_Boosting_Sound_VERSION_2_VERY_LOUD and I guess with me running Liquid Smooth 4.4 this tweak doesn't play nice because I can't hear anyone when on the phone so I had to take that off.
If these questions have been asked I'm sorry, I did some searching on particular threads and only found those about media volume. I hope someone can point me to a fix.
Thanks.
For me.the speaker on the gs4 while in a call is better. Might just be me but I've had each phone for almost a year now. If you flash sacs ROM I know that comes with the volume boost.

Check out this thread for some help. And also look at this post to do the mod yourself.
As @daniel4653 mentioned a few of the latest ROMs already boost sound - Sac's, Negamann's etc..
I also use ViperFX and that works EXTREMELY well; but requires some tweaking (all of which can be learned on the viper threads).
Good luck

Hey fellow xda guys
Just to state i always root and install roms on my devices but for this one am somewhat consious...i have it 3 days now and already thinking on rooting...what do u guys believe on this part?should i?
Bump. Its, something ive been searching for an answer to myself. Is there any noticeable increase in performance or functionality with the use of custom roms or kernels. I understand that xposed would play a great part in making this decision, but for someone who is not a very die hard user of the xposed framework, being as its a good enough phone without root, would you recommend rooting based on the custom roms and kernels available?
Well I have always rooted phones right back from the early days of my HTC HD1. Last year though I rooted my Galaxy S6 which tripped the Knox counter. Many people say Samsung will repair your phone in the UK but I can tell you thats not the case. My phone developed a fault and I spent 4 months in discussions with them and they would not budge. Threw all sorts of consumer laws at them with no joy. So if your happy tripping knox with the risk of down the road needing a repair then go for it. But I would suggest unless you really do need a specifice Root app then I wouldnt bother. With my GS7 Edge battery lasts comfortably all day so no need for root apps to extend battery and I have to admit the phone absolutely flies. But ultimately its down to you. Also if you use android pay or samsung pay or sky go or barclaycard app then root will prevent use of these. As I say though each to their own.
I would also like some more feedback on whether to root or not. This is my first time not rooting a phone out of the box.
Sent from my SM-G93FD using Tapatalk
Stock here. Runs fantastic which is not always the case with rooted ones when you read the forum. Little glitch with eBay yesterday was the only issue I had to date.
I didnt find rooting my s7 edge exynos helped my battery to last longer.. the only thing i found helpful is the soundmod because of low quality audio..
It all depends on how you use your phone.
I always root my Android.
Just bought S7 Edge yesterday and root it the night I got it.
I never have problem with warranty here, with rooted device, they never check it.
So the drawback only Knox and Samsung Pay. Which I don't use anyway.
The advantages is a lot : XPosed, Custom Rom, Mods, etc..

i rooted for audio mods. i noticed using xposed uses more battery but root is fine no drain.
I rooted for Greenify, ViperAudio & tweaking some Ui sounds but I'm a bit bummed that I can't use the Pay service here in NZ anymore.
Never had a problem with 6 years of Galaxy phones so I don't care to much for Warranty.

I didnt find rooting my s7 edge exynos helped my battery to last longer.. the only thing i found helpful is the soundmod because of low quality audio..
It all depends on how you use your phone.

Reading through this, just felt the need to jump on this one (sorry XD) - 'low quality audio'? This phone has very very good quality audio. Are you referring to the output volume? Because the *quality* is very good XD

Yes, i meant the low output of the volume especially when using the headset. I had to root and install mods.

It's plenty loud enough for me, would like to keep my hearing intact.
Out of interest though, how can you increase volume by rooting? Surely the limitations are hardware related, namely the internal headphone amplifier no?

Ah, in which case apologies for my pedantry! Out of interest, which mod did you install and are you satisfied?

You're right, but its sort of like the iso in a camera - it artificially boosts it, usually with the tradeoff of sound quality. With only a small boost the quality loss is probably too minimal to hear though, especially if coupled with a few EQ tweaks to try and lessen the effects.

With the OEM headset the volume output is too low for me, incall volume and music especially when im on the subway.
Volumeboost, dolby, viper. It all solved my problem.

The oem headset is pants imho, no offense meant.
I am a self confessed 'audiophile' and use Grado and Sennheiser h/phones with the s7e.
My issue with algorithm 'volume boosters' (as opposed to hardware) is that they almost certainly increase distortion and clipping.

I have the 64 Audio U12s - and have similar issues. The audio quality IS good on this phone though. Ill let you know how I get on with algorithm boosters this week.

I always like to root my android devices however jailbreaking/root is not always required for full customization on the phone (unlike on ios) It always comes down to personal preference, what were some things that made you want to root?
