Hey guys, working on getting the 8525. Does anyone know if I can use it with my laptop to connect to the net?
Nevermind, I found the answer. For others, look here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_FAQs

Hi there!
I have an Eircom broadband connection for my PC using a Netopia wireless router.
I bought a Sandisk SD Wi-Fi adaptor for my XDA and installed it's software from the little CD. (It's not the one with 256MB)
However my XDA doesn't find an access point.
I'm sorry for being such a newbie, and I did search for old posts to no avail.
Naturally I'd like to be able to use my broadband wireless to surf on my XDA II and activesync etc but I haven't a clue about 'mating' them!
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Many thanks
Conor (Ireland)
I saw an article where it was being used with pocketlan on an xda 2, also saw other articles where it works ok in that combination.

Still lost!
Hi
Thanks for that!
However, I installed it but then got bamboozled again. I just didn't know what to do with it!! It doesn't link automatically - there's talk of addresses, pings and such which is all Greek to me!
Does anyone know a step by step account of linking XDA by wi-fi to a home wi-fi router?
Thanks for reading this!

Fool's guide to connecting XDA II to home Wi-Fi??
I'm still at sea on this - please forgive me putting out another call for help here.
I have the SD Sandisk adapter (not the one with 256MB storage) and I have a home wireless router for my laptop.
I installed the software but need a detailed talk-through or step-by-step guide to get my XDA II connected.
Has anyone the time, talent and inclination?
Best regards to all!
Conor

I have got the xda2s recently as well and I have been trying to connect to the internet via my router at home, but no use.....is it from the software or it needs some sort of upgrading steps??
I hope some one who is proffessional in this matter could reply to us and tell us what to do?

I offer to help. But you seem to want instant gratification, with no effort on your part. That's not going to work. Nor is doing everything everyone says. How many times will you post the same thread? To connect you need to do a series of steps. Little baby steps. Their can be a number of reasons why you can't connect, part of connecting is finding out what is wrong.
Not wanting to do it that way, I suggest you find someone local you can pay to stop by your home and set it up for you.
Hey,
I got a new XDA 2 and I am wondering if there was anyway I could connect it up to internet via bluetooth or wifi straight out of the box? I have both wifi and bluetooth in my house so it would be great to be able to do this.
If it is possable, could someone please tell me how to or point me in the right direction to a "How-to" or a tutorial Please.
I have googled and searched these forums with no help
Thanks Guys

I'm on the road travelling with my MDA... just got it actually. I have my laptop with me and would love to know if their is a way to use my MDA as a modem using the USB cable?
While I don't have any problems surfing the internet on my MDA, it is a little "cramped".
Hopefully this will work... it certainly seems like it would, but you never know.
Thanks in advance!
I do exactly that here in Aus via Bluetooth from my Vaio to my K-Jam. GPRS not Edge but it's not bad. I also have a WCDMA phone - faster connection but won't talk via Bluetooth and I keep forgetting to bring the cable!
Heh... wouldn't you know that the instructions were on my T-mobile install disk!
So I have it figured out now... and posting from my laptop... I LOVE MY PHONE
Hi there Im not too new or anything i just don't tend to post very often. Anyways on to my question, my Vibrant doesn't seem to connect to my wireless router which is in my parents house atleast 75ft away. But my laptop does. Is there anyway i can connect to my laptop and use its WIFI? Is there an app or maybe an internet sharing option. I've looked around online but haven't really seen any good tutorials on this topic. thanks again in advance.
Yes, you can share the internet from your computer. Which OS are you using? Windows calls this "internet connection sharing".
Here's a tutorial for XP
