Hi all,
I was really happy to recieve my qtek s200 about a month ago.
I don't wan't to ***** and complain a whole lot about the s200, as it generally is a nice phone and overall good improvement over my previous qtek 2020 from some years ago. A few minor querks could be the low volume and placement of the power on/off button, but nothing I can't live with.
This post, however, is just to hear if anyone else feels, as I do, disappointed due to the fact that you are not able to change the roms, as easily, as you might have come to expect from HTC devices.
Come on! I buy a WM5 device for well over £350, and then I DO EXPECT that things will run smoothly, including rom upgrades. But, no! I for one am really dissappointed. I cannot flash any roms, that are available, outside those "soon to be comming" from the place I purchased. I am still waitning.
I-mate seems, however, to support their customers well, but qtek will not even recognise my IMIE number from the reseller where I bought my phone.
So now I have the option to either wait or pay extra to get a danish rom on my qtek s200! What will they think of next?! I can only say that I am beginning to loose faith in qtek and HTC for that matter.

You bought a Qtek! What did you expect? Didn't you do any research before purchase? We *always* have had to jump through vendor id hoops with HTC devices to load different vendor roms, just because someone writes a tool to get around this easily doesn't mean it actually is easy! and Qtek are *well known* for their lack of support - it's a reason often given why their devices are cheaper to purchase than i-mate. Moan about Qtek, not about HTC - they didn't make you buy a Qtek product.....and in future buy an i-mate, or JAFWM to load roms more easily or search for the leaked roms when they become available from Qtek.

Thanks for you post. I do see your point... I guess a more correct title for this topic could have been:
IMHO HTC messed up the qtek s200 -> IMHO QTEK messed up the prophet!
I do however, compared to my previously good experience with the qtek 2020, feel that HTC still made the device... so as to allow QTEK to lock it "more" from the other brand names i.e. i-mate, jafwm etc.
I do agree, I should have read more on the Qtek s200 before buying and xda-dev does a good job informing and all, yet it is difficult for anyone (especially a nob) to find just the right post... telling you NOT TO BUY the QTEK S200, if you hope for good support on a prophet.
Living in Denmark, I actually believe that Dangaard Data (qtek distributer) does give good support, just not on qtek's purchased abroad. I have learned from my mistakes, and still would say, IF EVER, I was to buy another WM5 device, I will only buy from a shop in Denmark... we also get 2 years service, which don't think you get abroad as a standard.
Anyway, you could be right about qtek on the average. I just whish I had purchased mine 1) either in Denmark og 2) NOT AT ALL.
Back to my Nokia 9500 for now.

I don't get it. Why do you want to change ROMs all the time? -- And why would that be such a strong determining factor in you choosing not to use the device, especially since, as you say, it's actually an improvement over your 2020?
Personally, I'm waiting patiently for the next official S200 ROM update from Qtek. I love my S200!

This is what I have been looking for in 3 weeks, because the Qtek-service in Denmark is not working until (last time I looked at www.qtek.dk ) the 18th of april.

Today I was talking with Mrs. XXXX from HTC Brazil (yes they have a local plant here now) and after 10 times asking for the holly wm6 ROM, she said:

let's just say if i do share this ROM, there will be no more testing for me in the future and also i will be in deep trouble. It's a risk i can't take. But good news is I can confirm the WM6 update is coming really soon now.
Sorry to be the one to ask this but what is considered soon? By the end of the month. I can't wait for the stability of WM6. I was spoiled with my Hermes. I forgot what it was like to run WM5.

there you go, someone answer for me. Official release is said to be out next month. I will be getting beta version at the end of the month of beginning of next month. Hopefully they won't delay on the official release.
p.s. Oh, by the way, this time line only applys to DOPOD, HTC might have similar time line too. But T-mobile Ameo user should expect a slide delay if T-mobile ever wanted to release the WM6 for Ameo.

We know about the official release from Dopod, but this ~internal beta testing~ is really internal.
Someone needs to share, the potential of this device only will be explored with WM6...

Yes it is. I had a Hermes for the past 10 months and upgraded to WM6 as soon as XDA came out with it. Even from the very first beta versions it was more stable and faster than an official WM5 version. And remember the WM6 versions I was using had been hacked up and stuff added and taken away. Even with all that I would never soft reset it during the day to unfreeze it or to get the memory back that programs had leaked. Grant it there were still programs that had problems due to incompatibility with WM6. But overall it is a faster and smoother operating system.

according to HTC europe, the release date for the Athena's WM6 is early September...
It wont matter, come August Advantage X7501 is out which ships with WM6. Once someone gets hold of this we will get a ported WM6 ROM.

the x7501 ROM won't work on X7500, these two machine are not identical. You still need the wm6 update of x7500

I'm pretty confident given the Vast similarities of the devices someone on these boards will be able to easily and readily do the port. Therefore I confer my previous statement that once X7501 is released, we will have a WM6 ROM, none of this waiting for September business.

that is very true, anyway, from what i know and the beta testing going on, the wm6 is still possible to be launch in July, so if lucky, you will get it before x7501 comes out. Second, don't forget you need to CID Unlock your device before flashing x7501.

The WWE model I ordered got delivered today (in Belgium) while the NL and FR version should arive at the distributor on friday, arive here on monday/thuesday.
They only initially stocked 5 of each but the WWE's were out of stock as soon as they got in stock

With my collegues TTYNII I accidentaly flashed the WWE Windows Mobile 6.1 version on his without knowing it originaly was an NL version and it had no problem with that.
I wouldn't take my word for it though, there are many more knowledgeable people on the WM device subject on these boards.

As long as the ROM is for Touch HD you should have no problem flashing other language ROMs. If your device is branded you might need Hard-SPL though, read the XDA wikis for info (or stickies in Diamond section, it works the same way)
Thats good news! So beeing a fact that my HD wont be branded I wont have any problems to flash new HT ROMS on it. Excellent!

LOL... You don't understand my "Be carreful".... I am not sure that they have stock. Why ? Because this morning (at 10) they didn't have stock.....
What still worries me is that in the Netherlands, you can get the phone for free if you take a 35€ contract for 24 months, and in France I couldn't find it for less than 399€ with a at least 45€ contract for 24 months...

I have finally managed to get SDHC working on the hp ipaq hx4700. So far tested on 8GB Class6.
Install patch to \Windows dir and soft-reset.
Feedback welcome.

Maybe it's not comming in Denmark. HTC has a strange policy in releasing firmwares, some comes out worldwide others just locale. Since there is already a 2.01 in play as well I don't think we will get that 1.61 as a HTC release.
It certainly would be rather nice with a new danish ROM update for our HD2... I can't believe the treatment HTC are giving their costumers.. 4 hotfixes! Nuff said: Bring on an update... NOW!

I agree, but having followed the HTC Hero and Magic users in danish forums I am not setting my hopes up. Besides there are some really nice cooked roms here now that are certainly performing better than the 1.48 we get in Denmark. I don't mind the language being english since I already use english on my computer.
True true... One problem though, with the current cooked ROMS, is the stability... I'm using my HD2 for phonecalls, messaging, email etc. in relation to my work. Therefore I simply need a ROM I can trust. I'm not saying that the cooked ROMS wont get there, is KNOW they will ... But for now i'm more comfortable with a good'old stock ROM .... (Though I proberly will give some ENERGY to my HD2 when the time comes )
I don't mind the phone being in english either... The only problem is XT9... I know u can tweak the registry to have danish XT9 in WWE ROMS... The only problem is that it requires some WinMO expertise... I don't have that yet
If somebody made some .CAB solutions to easy "multilanguage XT9 selection" in WWE ROMS, it sure would make things a lot easier for ordinary people, and people with very little time
