Ive managed to set my audio files as ringtones but is it possible to set them as a SMS recieved tone?
yip, put the file in the map windows on your mobilephone and choose this file as your receive email sound. PS: i didnt test it with wma but it must work!!!
I'm almost sure its the New sms option in the sounds and notifications , not the new e-mail one.
in fact you can choose sound for many notifications in settings/phone/other settings/ and chose email, sms, even msn messenger notification sound.
when i test it i can only choose my alien.wma
when i change the phonering in notifications
it's not present on the list if i choose sms recieve or mail recieve
You have to copy the file in the \Windows directory and il will then appear listed for SMS too
As far as I know (on XDA I), you can only assign wma files to ringtones. SMS tones need to be wav.
It seems they use different audio engines.
i've tried to copy it to windows and windows/rings
and non of those locations matter to the list of my
sms notification or any other non phone edition spc
notification for that matter
i tried that too, and i conclude that it's not possible to set wma files to sms notification... it has to be wav...

can we make the tone cut of with a push of a button.. my tone goes 4 ages and i cannot cut it of when im reading my msgs!

Hi - i can assign custom ringtones for incoming calls.. but not for text messages.
Anyone know how i can change this?
Thanks guys.
(Running on XDA mini S with ROM: 2.16.9.1 WWE)
Place the wav/mp3 etc you want assigning to an SMS tone in the Windows directory, these will then appear in the list for assigning to SMS/Alarms etc
i have tons of wavs in that directory that do not show up when i try to change the notification in Sound Notifications. Anyone know what im missing?
have u tried place the wav to \windows\rings\ ?
PS:the wav files should be within certain bitrates.
yup... if u do that it will work for incoming calls... but NOT FOR TEXT MESSAGES... still haven't figured out how to for texts
I've placed some MP3s in the Windows directory on the device and it works for SMS's. Not sure about wav files though.
how are you assigning the sms sounds? through "sounds and notifications"? cause if i place an mp3 in the windows directory, it does not show up as a selection. i assume it can only read .wav
Is there a way to change the text messaging alert sound to something i make up? From my computer,
1. does it have to be mp3 or midi or wav?
2. where do i save the file so it will show up as one of my audio options....
Thanks in advance
Put a sound file into your \windows directory, go into settings/personal/sounds & notifications, I'll assume you can figure it out from there.
Device\Application Data\Sounds
That is where you are to place custom ringtones, and i believe that they appear for Text Messages too...just not for Alarms
Does anyone know if you can change the text message sent notification??
for it to work it has to be a .wav
Hello there!
Does anyone know how to change the New SMS notification sound for a custom MP3, WAV, WMA one??
Changing the ringer sound is super easy (You just copy the new ringer to the My Ringtones folder and then choose it in the Settings > Sound and Notifications window. But when You choose the New SMS from the menu, the new MP3s, WMAs and WAVs from the My Ringtones folder are not there. They are only available for the Incoming Call setting...
Can anyone help me and tell me how to change the SMS sound for a custom one?
EDIT: Problem solved. You need to copy the sound in WMA or MP3 format into the Windows folder on Your device. Works for me.
just windows root, c:\windows\ ?
Yes. The main Windows folder on Your device. Works perfectly for me.
