good free alarm clock program - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

hey guys, I have found that my alarm clock on the MDA that comes preinstalled for the Tmobile MDA is highly unreliable and often does not go off. I need a reliable alarm program that will wake me up for class. It has made me miss class and tests before. Does anyone know a good free alarm clock program? Thanks

I have used Mortplayer as an alarm clock. It has been reliable for me thus far, but then again, I haven't used it much. I noticed that the failures in going off were more related to the problems of my phone freezing on me when I keep it charging for a long time (like overnight). I don't think it was Mortplayer. You can use your own music to wake you up.

here are 3 free alarm clocks...
two have been discussed before here;

and here's another;

I'm currently using the WAWA alarm clock software. It's a cool app to either wake you up by turning on your home theater (whatever with the infrared) or by playing the assigned melody or tone.

AlarmClock works very well. Been using it for over a year with no issues, and it's free. http://www.freewareppc.com/clock/alarmclock.shtml

Can I use any file or does it have to be wav or something? And then just rename it "Alarm"?
any wav file will do
Does your alarm function work properly? I've only used it once (for the first time) when I was in a hotel last week. The alarm didn't sound at the time I had set. When I woke up and pressed the on/off button of my XDA II the alarm went off!
Anyone else encounter this problem? Is there something I've missed when setting the alarm?
searched and found this

Hi
Ive experienced the exact same problem. That's why i dont trust it, and i want other software...
Alarm!
I use SPB Time, works GREAT. Had two alarms set for every weekday and during the trial period it always worked flawlessly.
That and I had sent some improvement suggestions to SPB, and the product manager actually responded!
For the 10 bucks, I say it's worth it.
I use AlarmX by MTUX (it has two alarms with nice sounds).
It works fine. The only thing is that you must activate it before you go to sleep, because if not it doesn't wake up.
Bye,
Uros
I search for an alarm program, that automatically sets the volume to maximum. My problem is when I left to take the volume up in the evening, I can't hear the alarm sound at the morning..

AlarmX by MTUX do this. It is indipendent of your system volume.
Bye,
Uros
You could try PocketZenPhone, which will allow you to create profiles that will switch the volume to your required levels at your required times.
I have mine set to switch the ppc volume to silent, and phone volume to silent at 11:15pm then switch back to loud for ppc and loud for phone at 6:15am.
Works like a charm.

Thank you for the tips!
I will check them...
Another solution to alarm problem
I was also having problems with my alarms, read somewhere that unwanted entries in start up could affect this & slow your machine down too, Hope that helps....
Download this freeware (both of them), install them and run them.
http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_cn_overview.html
I installed this freeware which seems to have (a) cleared a lot of unwanted dross (sometimes 400+!!!!) & (b) sorted out my alarm problem
Someone recommended this excellent and useful 'pocket Alarm' utility when I was still using my XDA I, Burr Oak have now upgraded it and it better than ever!
Try it free here :- http://www.burroak.on.ca/pta2.html (costs $12-ish if you like it enough to register it)
I am using Alarme version 3.06. Get it at http://www.handango.com/PlatformPro...11201&sectionId=0&catalog=30&txtSearch=alarme
I am using it for more than a year, it wakes me up everyday, you can choose any wav file as your alarm.
Its volume control doesn't care about your device volume. Even if you left the device muted before you went to sleep, it will ring loud and clear.

Any new ALARM CLOCK programs out there?

Hey guys,
Anyone know of any new alarm clock programs out there that have a large snooze button so i don't accidently turn off the alarm like i always do now with pocket travel alarm?
Thanks
JW
When you say new, have you tried all the old ones already?
There are a number of good options out there...

I tried it for a few times and I do quite like it over the PocketWakeup, due to its (travel alarm) nice looking interface. However, I went back to PocketWakeup anyway. Reasons:
(1) Travel alarm does not include a vibrate feature
(2) There is always a thread/process of travel alarm running at the background, which I'm not sure if helps on my slow Charmer processing power and/or the battery life.

This is a good alarm & its free, never let me down yet. http://www.freewareppc.com/clock/alarmclock.shtml
Don't know of any new ones. I use the alarm from MortPlayer. It is very basic, but does the job. I can use my MP3 as the alarm. I had it fail once because my phone didn't recognize my media folder on the storage card. It wasn't isolated to MortPlayer so I can't blame it on the program.

Yep, I've used that one too and have no complaints about it. It seems to work pretty well and has never let me down either.
I have been using MTUX AlarmX for a couple years. It isn't quite up to date (doesn't support landscape for example). And it's pretty basic (no MP3s, no repeating alarms) but then the interface is also simple. It is easy to set up to two alarms, alarm sounds, End or Snooze an alarm. I periodically try other programs, but always come back to this.

Alarm app??

Hey the ****y alarm sucks on our tmobile mda (us) and they dont play mp3s sorry for posting for help altho i have already looked and checked the ftp but i didnt know where to look or what its called. so can anyone direct me to the app? or a registry hack to get mp3 suport on the stock alarm? thanks in advance and i really like the site its very nice. good to see so much support
i use ptravelalarm for that.nice UI and can play mp3 file. i have to change the alarm sound every now and then before my ears get used to the sound and ignore it
or else, you might want to try pocketalarm. both application cost you some penny though
isnt there any freeware for an alarm
http://www.freewareppc.com/clock/wolfclock.shtml
this program is an alarm that can use mp3's
but it is kinda ugly and bulky... i removed it shortly after installing it, but your taste might be different than mine.
if you manage to find something else, post it here cus i too would like an alarm that plays mp3s
Try Mortplayer. While it is a music player, it has a simple alarm on it that can made for daily, weekday, or each day use. It doesn't have multiple alarms for the days of the week, but like I said, it's alarm system is simple.
Curious D, I have mortplayer but does the app need to be open in order for the alarm to go off? Or can I close it?
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1299
Here is another that i just found, it is in french, but once you figure it out, it works well

Can close. I have my phone on standby with the volume off and it will go off on time with the volume turned back on. It will not turn on the volume for the phone, just the system volume. You can set the volume level for the alarm too by setting the preamp and volume on start up.
damn im having no luck here. i used to have an MPX220 that i had to hack the registry (add a few lines) for MP3 support for the alarm sound, but i figured my MDA would already come prepared for it

Here's a free reliable mobile alarm app that plays any MP3 you choose. I've had this app on my 8125 for over a year, and it's always been dependable, even if you soft reset before the app takes effect. This can be stored anywhere you like...just read the read me file for instructions.

What kind of alarm are you looking for, one that plays your MP3s, or one that plays its own alarm?
-Spb Time is an ok alarm but you can find a lot more than SpbTime offers
-Alarm today is maybe the best alarm for any PPC but the today skin is just
-UGLY to deal evry day and to be the first think you hear/see @ morning
-EnAlarm is a great app and easy to deal with
I just install Pocketalarm yesterday so let me see how it works

I was going to recommend the EN Alarm app, also called Mobile Alarm Free. This is a great app...never failed since installed over a year ago. Must have insomnia. I've attached the zip file that has the cab (install first) then the "install" file within the zip. After full installation, the foreign language files can be deleted giving memory back.
i take it none of these alarm apps, wm5 or 6 will work if phone is in standby.
cant stand the built in .wav alarms :/ but my phone is in standby overnight so i have to use it.

I leave my phone on all night every night while charging and the backlight off. No harm to the battery or phone. I have the backlight turned off by using psShutXP (tapping light off).I also use it for soft re-sets and shut down (stand by). Today plug in.

The alarm will activate at the designated time as long as the phone is not completely turned off.
when you say turn light off is the screen still on? just not backlit, does it come back easy enough?
or does it just switch off the display?
thanks

The screen is black, display off. The light will come back on when the alarm goes off, or when you unplug the charging cord from the bottom.

WARNING it has been posted in this forum to not download ANY sw from "warez". Don't really know why, but it has been posted by admin and moderators.... You don't need to go to any website, where it says choose windows song file, or choose song file, tap on the box of your choice, and get your songs out of file explorer, if you have any. If you choose a MP3? from your dtorage card, tap the UP box, then quickly double tap on Storage card, double tap the song you want, tap OK, you'll see a box pop up showing your selected song..tap OK. You'll then be asked if you want this to continue. Tap yes or no, depending on what you want. You'll get the hang of it. By the way, you set the alarm time on the right side with the first 2 boxes for the hour, and the next 2 boxes for the minute. Ex: 9:00. The left side is already set.. it's the month(9) and day(5).
Here's screen shots step by step on how it's done.
dont worry i know what warez is and i wouldnt download it from there, but couldnt work out who made emalarm thats all.
thanks for the screenshots
well pocket alarm works great so far.
easy to deal with and you can choose run or sugest to run any app in your phone so you can set u an alarm to make a call an when it the time the alarm sounds and dial for you or open the dial pad choos the # or the contact and you just need to press talk, you also can run a video not just a .wma as your ringtone (videotone) I think is a great app.
I basicly want to use the build in alarm thing.. but I need more then 3 alarm clocks. can it be somehow extended to more clocks?

[Q] Good alarms?

Currently, I use Klaxon, and I adore it. However, it periodically just stops working (the alarm will randomly not go off, and continue to not work until I uninstall and reinstall). This, of course, is a problem - Why use an alarm that fails to work?
I am looking for a new Alarm program, and was wondering if you knew of a good one?
*The default one is too quiet and lacks the snoozes I need.

Download BsB tweaks and you can set WM to have more snooze intervals.
Try G-Alarm. It is a really good one. I use it and it works fine for me. Has a good amount of alarm options on it. Hope this helps.
good alarm
I have been using g alarm for a good while and it has been really great. I like that I can set the vol to increase gradually. One complaint is that after a while the gradual increase became irregular.
I have been using SPB Time for years. It works very well. It's not free, but I think they have a demo available in the Marketplace. Worth the money, in my opinion.

+1 on G-Alarm. More reliable for me than Klaxon. I like the ability to use 2 sound files, which creates a random alarm you can't ignore!
One little quirk: be careful when setting same-day alarms, because G-Alarm defaults to the next day. You have to manually hit the back arrow on the date when setting an alarm.
+1 on G-Alarm. I have been using it since last year. It is great, you can have many alarms and set it for different times on different days, it's great because I can have different alarms for weekdays and weekends. You can also have each alarm ring for longer or shorter and you can have it so you have to answer math questions or do puzzles to turn off. Try answering 16-7 when you are half awake, it will wake you up!

Thank you! I will definitely try it!
I have the cracked version. Go on the piratebay and search wm apps and a torrent should come up having a whole bunch of stuff for windows mobile including SPB Time.
