With my "old" ROM v1.3.7.11 german (RUU_Prodigy_1030711_120_10410_Qtek_GER_Ship.exe) I got german umlauts by pressing the blue key + sym after entering one of the letters a/o/u. Now with v2.8.7.1 (RUU_Prodigy_2080701_101_11310_Qtek_WWE_Test.exe) it works, but I always don't get the german umlaut as the first selection, e.g. for a I get à first and after pressing blue+sym four times I get ä. Does anyone know how to change this so that I get ä at the first time like in the german ROM?
In your \Windows folder there is a file sym.txt is specifies in which order the characters are used with the Sym key. Change it to your liking or copy a sym.txt from a German rom.
Uah, fast like a greased lightning! Many thanks, works like a charm.
Hi,
Please can you help me ?
I have a T-mobile Mda Vario with WM5 and my problem is that sym key does not work anymore.
I have earlier change the sym.txt file so it will work with one press of that sym key. It worked well but now for some reason it will work no more. If I press a or o and then the dot + sym/space key nothing happens. And I need
scandinavian characters ä, å, ö.
I have made several changes in sym.txt file so I don´t know what was the original order of those letters. I hope it will not affect on this ? Is there a particular file which controls the sym key ? Or somethig in a registery ?
Any ideas how to solve this problem ? What should I check and change or add ?
Is there anyone with similar difficulty ? How did you solve this problem ?

I removed the modified sym file and made soft reset, after that the original sym file was returned to its own place. Now the sym key function again !
Hi,
yesterday I decied to flash my XDA mini S(G3 device ) with the "SNN Edition Version 3.1 Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM", well there was no problem and the system works fine, but not the keyboard.
I'm a German person and I don't know whether there are differences between German and US/Brit XDAs. I go to my settings and changed the "Keyboard Layout" option to "German( Germany )", but there wasn't any effect. If I try to insert a symbol, which is displayed on the key a different symbol will be placed, e.g.:
! = ~
" = !
$ = @
$ = #
~ = ?
...
Can someone tell me how to fix it? Or it is the rom version?

change registry
To resolve that problem. You use a registry editor as Resco.
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > ControlPanel > Keybd
Then create a string value
Name : Locale
String : 0809
Save and soft reset device
Cool!
Hm no, it does not fix the problem completly. Ok ! = ! and some other symbols are fine now, not all, maybe there are some more layouts I can try out?
Ok, I think this link will solve your problem

is there any way to change the keyboard layout to german? i managed to change it to qwertz via regedit but it wont work for äüö any ideas?
third party software? The "special" characters will only be able by the default menu. (in the onscreen keyboard, tap a character and slide to the left or right while holding it)
I mean the hardware keyboard layout. I downloaded a regedit program and changed the entry for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD\CurLang to 1031 as I did on my old touch pro 1. with the TP I could then just press FN + a/o/u to get an ä/ö/ü but now it doesnt seem to work. so I was wondering if I need to enter a different value for that registry entry or if its something else.
I am interested too in changing the keyboard layout, in order to have the FN key working with accented letters.
I don't have any clue on doing this, though...
I don´t have the rhodium yet but I recommend this great software keyboard (using it on my Touch HD):

And here a direct download link for the right version (wvga) and all languages:

Ok, I manage to change the keyboard layout back to the German layout.
1) first you need to set up this key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD\CurLang to 1031
2) then you need to copy the file eT9.Rhodium.0407.kmap.txt to the windows directory (attached)
3) then you need to set up this key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\Ime\KeyboardLayouFiles\07FF to
eT9.Rhodium.0407.kmap.txt
4) reboot and that's it ... works fine on my TP2

Wow, Aurel143, the wiki page is just PRECISE!!!
My problem, though is that I cannot make a mapping match my hardware keyboard. It is a german one (me being Hungarian), so for example I cannot put accented ó on o, because ö is already there. You just can't remember 20 characters, if I maybe but ú on "-" or something.
But thank you, anyway.

I'm trying to figure out which one my TP2 is currently using as i just want to add one single keystroke "\"
Mine currently says:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD\CurLan g to 1031
I wondered if there was a way of telling before I changed my registry.
I've looked into all the eT9.Rhodium.XXXX.kmap.txt files and none of them line up to either my SIP of hardware keyboard.
Can anyone post eT9.Rhodium.0419.kmap.txt? I don't have it on my Sprint TP2.
Thanks!
