I'm looking for replacement for Magician's (wired) headset coz I think the one that comes with it sucks (low audio quality).
Anyone can suggest good alternatives with good MP3 quality (enough bass,...) and also as the phone's handsfree.
Thanks a lot.
If you are handy with a soldering iron, cut off that stupid pair of earbuds and solder on your favorite headset (that's what I did) or you can buy 3rd party adapters. If you solder on new headphones, don't forget to get some of that really cool heat shrink stuff to put over the wires, it turns out very professional looking and very strong.
Hmm...nice idea.
Unfortunately i'm not good at soldering.
So it seems i'm stuck with alternative to find a good earphone+hansfree combo....
SOny Ericsson p900 headset
5x times sound quality, + only one with a microphone that fits the 2.5mm plug. I searched long and hard to get this answer as i cannot solder too
this headset is not a stereo one, rigth ?
There are some adapters that have a built in mic and you plug the 3.5 headhones of your choice into it. There is also a small adapter that is just for audio 2.5-3.5. It is true that the Sony P800-900 headsets are compatible with the Jam. Unfortunately I have yet to hear original earphones that are acceptable to me. I can't remember where I bought it, but the adapter with a built-in mic and 3.5 headphone jack is probably what you are looking for. I use one in my car. Maybe somone has a link for you?

But in this case, is there any high quality 3.5mm earphone that also work as handsfree for the Jam?
This solution uses the internal mic of the PPC Phone so you can use any high quality headset from your local hi-fi store.
Can you confirm that this doesn't mess up the stereo or do anything else weird?
I found it! This is the adapter that I bought for my Sony P800 years ago(works with Magician). You can use it to plug into your home stereo, favorite headphones and it even has a volume control. Mainly I use it in my car. I use it to plug my Jam into my car stereo and sometimes I use it to plug in the earbud for one ear wired headset communication. ENJOY!

I have that. I don't like it too much since it feels very fragile (including the thin wire) and the fact that it isn't a simple straight wire means it snga everywhere.
I only use that adapter in the car. It is good for people that can't make their own headset by soldering. I made a custom headset from Koss headphones and a Sony handsfree. That baby sounds really good, and I'm picky about sound quality.
Does the mic work? Can you accept and end calls using the button?
Thanks,
K
Yes, the above adapter works exactly as the original handsfree headset (+ volume control) except that you have to plug in a normal 3.5 plug stereo headphones. If there are other models out there without the reel thingy, I haven't found it.
who can share the experience like subject mentioned.
Don't have the Atom myself but tested my BT I-Tech Clip with my mates one and it worked on first attempt.
Just pair the devices as normal and the PDA will recognise it to be a headset.
I use iTech S35 ... works great
I am using the iTech S35 STEREO Bluetooth headset to listen to STEREO MP3 music. I also use it together with TCPMP to watch movies in STEREO. It also operates as handsfree phone.
It works great !
I chose the iTech S35 because it has a 3.5mm female jack so that you can plug in ANY headphone u want to use. The headphones that come with the S35 is abit crappy but who cares - you can use your own !
Most Bluetooth headsets have the headphones built-in so you are stuck with what it comes with but not the S35
if you choose the S38, it even has built in controls for controlling the "play", "next" etc. so the Atom stays in your pocket while you control the player. I haven't tried it but don't see any reason why it should not work.
I am full of praise for the S35 !
For phones I use the Audio Technica "PEAR" necklace phones so my headphones stay tangle free. I think the two makes a good combination.
One note : You won't have radio if u use the S35 or any other bluetooth headset 'cos it needs the headset that comes with the Atom plugged in as the antenna as well. So if u want radio u gotta carry that headset with you.
i got a BlueAnt X3 headset
It can only act as a handsfree... however, it allows me to listen to music when it's connected to my other mobile phone... so the problems seems to be with Atom... can anyone help?

Hi all,
Recently I lost my wizard's original headsets, I tried to find a place to get the same original ones but I didn't find a single place on the internet that sells exactly the original O2 headset with its cable, mic and answer button.
Anyway, what is the best wired/wireless stereo headset in terms of quality/price? if it is BT, is it rechargable?
And how does the sound quality compare to the original headsets?
I hope I will find some help here since I know nothing about these things
Cheers,
Mohammad
Hi guys,
I found this one that looks like Wizard's original ones:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mini-Vario-...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1201287948&sr=1-1
but when I looked at the cable I suspect that the cable is not of good quality like the original.. Any help plz? should I buy it?
I use a Motorola H700. It's not stereo, but for handsfree calling, it's awesome. The call quality is outstanding, the range is excellent (I can be anywhere in my house with my phone in the bedroom and have no static), and the best part is that it uses the same kind of charger the Wizard does, so I can just lug one charger around with me. Awesome little device.
If I want to listen to music, I just have a cheap pair of earbud headphones that I plug in with an adapter. Works just fine for me!
Thanks for ur reply, what about the link I provided, is this the ORIGINAL wizard headset? the earbuds seems to be the original, but what about the cable? is it the original.
Help me guys, pleeeeez
comon guys, somebody tell me about this headset link, is it exactly the original along with its cable and everything?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mini-Vario-...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1201287948&sr=1-1
where are u guys?
Any tips on which one is best? Trying to wirelessly send music to car speakers via the audio jack...
Thank you
you can look up the Motorla T505 - It is bluetooth and transmits to your car stereo using Powerful FM Transmitter. Mutes music when you get a call and resumes after. Calls come through car stereo as well. Or if you want check out jabra stereo headphones = I know that there are a few that have Headphone jacks out. My Jabra Bt320 would do what you are looking for or there is a Jabra stereo headphone set that looks like dog tags with headphone jack out as well. (Wish I would have foun that before I bought the Bt320 )

u can try the Motorola S705. It allows u to attach any 3.5mm jack to the unit. I have been using it for awhile and it works pretty good.
This sounds like a good idea. But, I often go the cheap route on devices like this. I shop at this website DealExtreme and they have a device like this for $20. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.8098 I saw some reviews on it that says the range sucks... it's like 10 feet or something but if I'm in my car with it, what does it matter. Anyways, that site rocks. There is a replacement battery on there for the Kaiser for like $7. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.15833
I personally use the iTech Clip (S38 I think...) i'd have to double check. I ordered it from ebay thought and it works pretty well. It was around $50 for me with shipping. The only complaint is the music sounds just a touch muffled when compared to listening through wired head phones. But you really don't noticed it unless you are doing a comparo.
I use mine all the time for when I go running and it works well.
plantronics 855
the plantronics 855 is a really nice stereo bluetooth headset. I got mine for $45 on sale, I think it goes for around $40 new on ebay. With a 3.5mm headphone jack part (radio shack $2), some wire (radio shack $3), a small amount of dremeling and some soldering you can turn it into a really small bluetooth to 3.5mm adapter with really great sound. (im using bose-in ear headphones and the sound quality is really good). I did it with mine and I love it. If you want instructions PM me.
If you just want to buy something then sony makes a really nice one, its like $100 but the sound quality has to be great.
Also make sure you do the A2DP hack to your phone (it's really just a reg edit in cab form):
View attachment A2DP_BT_Hack.zip
Sony Ericsson HBH-DS205 or DS220.
Generally rated very good -but some report brief transfer interruptions happening every minute or so. They come with a headset included, but thats connected to the unit via a 3.5 mm plug. I found one for a decent price on Ebay.
Waiting for my S705

I just purchased the S705 on Amazon. What I liked was that it could charge while it was working as a bluetooth receiver. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't have a hard on/off switch. I would much prefer to be able to leave the switch on all the time so that as soon as I enter my car and turn the car on, the S705 would connect to my phone.
As it is, I accept the limitation as it might be better all around that I have to turn the thing off rather than have it wasting it's charge every time I turn off the car.
Iv just bought a jabra 3030 dogtagbluetooth headset which has a 3.5mm audio jack on it so you could put it in a cup holder and buy a small 3.5mm audio jack cable to plug into the radio, I will test it out when mines delivered if you want ?
Hi I got my BT3030 today and must say it is amazing works great with tytn ii, sterio audio goes through aswell and a 3.5mm jack on the side so you can plug it into any form of audio output!
Sound quality is the best Iv ever heard from a bluetooth device and is allmost as good as my 5.1 at home
Only £30 from expansys if you get the £10 off from madoca or whatever it is.
I am still shopping for a solution but found this one while looking. Haven't tried any yet, thanks to all who posted suggestions.
Hey people. Thanks for all info, been reading about the defy here for some time. Got one now and I love it. I had a few smartphones before and this is by far the one I would stick to forever if I had to.
So, my question is: Are there any good head phones (in-ear plugs, with mic and maybe even music controlers) avaliable, and that I can be certain to be compatible with the Defy? Or could I just buy any that works fine with other Android or Motorola devices? Motorola is not sold in Sweden where I live, so it's not like I can check out any stores IRL here...
With my Xperia x20 mini, exacly what I described came along with the phone. Too bad that you just got these normal plugs with the defy. Cos there is just no way I would use those. As of now I stick to my old head phones but I'd love the mic function with my In-ear plugs.
Thanks for any help!
Ekholm
Ok, so I found this site:
thinkmotoroladefy.com/wiredheadsets.html
and it's all looking good, except for the part that they are a bit low-priced. I'm looking for high quality ones. I.e my current head phones was about 90 USD.
For information, iphone handsfree works fine
Thanks!
By chance, does anyone know if "Klipsch Image S4i" would work? they seams to be perfect! Volume, track fwd bwd and play...
I got one of these a few months ago, works fine with my HTC Desire. Not the best headphones in the world, but more than capable of handling a bus ride. You can unplug the headphones, clip on a small plastic hook and use it as an in-ear Bluetooth headset too. Two birds with one stone
I can get around 10 hours out of them between charges.
Thanks, it seams to be mono, right? Mono doesnt sound too thrilling...
If you use power amp you can set it up to use the controls on headphones to start and stop music, instead of calling the last number you called. It will work on the lock screen too.
This was the only way of getting it to work i found for the defy and i tried about 10 different headphones with in-line controls. Bluetooth stereo sets like the one above with controls seem to work fine for music however, ive got a sony bluetooth set and the controls worked right away on the standard media player.

Hi everybody I'm new,
Does anyone can confirm this pinout for Defy's jack 3.5mm?
1. Tip - Left audio
2. Ring - Right audio
3. Ring - Ground
4. Sleeve - Mic
or this used in most mobiles:

I use Razer Moray+™ they have no remote function so you have to answer the call on the phone. But you have a mic and the work good for musik and phone calls.
anyone got an update for this, still looking for ear buds with a mic.
Klipsch Pro Media set(based on the S4i but a bit better build for traveling etc).
Awesome set up with defy. The S5i rugged set is also great as they are moisture proof and very overbuilt.

Thx,
Yeah, exactly as you wrote.
I remade cheap handset with remote (from eg. www.ebay.com).
It works with any headphones
I used my original headset on a iphone before. So I assume that every headset that works on the iphone should also work on the defy.

I wonder if Sony Ericsson's headsets work. These seem pretty good:
goo.gl/TquJQ
goo.gl/eQc9W
Would be good if they work.
BTW, I tried Samsung Galaxy SL's Stereo In ear handsfree and the sound quality was just awesome! Might get myself one of those!!
I've tried the iPhone standard headphones and sound works but Mic and controls don't. There is a pair of sennheiser mm50 Nokia. Which will work fine. Ordering one shortly.
Hi
I can confirm that at least not all iphone headset work the defy, even if the pinout is identical. I tried the Sennheiser MM70i and they don't work!
I soldered the mic of the standard Headset to the MM70 and now im happy,
but definitely nothing i can recommend
greetings
