Sure, try Missing Sync for Windows Mobile, from Mark/Space Software. It will sync with iCal, Address Book, iTunes, iPhoto, current time, etc. It will also allow you to install software via .cab files (but not .exe files), up- and down-load files between the Mac and the device, mount the device like an external disk drive, and on and on. Cheers,
I answered your question here already.

Hi,
Recently bought a xda exec and would like to sync to my powerbook. Tried the demo version of pocketmac. Not been able to sync. Anybody tried anything else that could help.
cheers
Pocketmac won't yet sync with the exec as the exec uses windows mobile 5.0 which is not yet supported by pocketmac. I hope they get their act together quick... in the meantime you can get a bluetooth dongle to get some connectivity. That will enable you to copy files back and forth. The important one to copy over to the mac is pim.vol (found in the root directory of the exec.) This contains all of your contacts and calendar information. Although there is nothing you can do with the file on the mac, at least it will serve as a rudimentary backup until proper syncing is availlable.
I hope that helps

Thanks. My powerbook has bluetooth built-in so I have been transferring files for a while but its damn slow. Would like to connect through USB cable and have full sync options. Thanks for the pim.vol thing. See what I can do with it.
I googled and found this link about a week back. So I thought it was me who was doing something wrong. As according to them they do support the HTC Universal.

Help appriciated. Thanks a lot mate.
cheers
nobody else got any more ideas?
i think u should email pocketmac and check it out.
As the title implies I just got my HD in the mail and I use a Mac. Anybody have any good tips for me? Any good programs out there to make them play nice? I know about the missing sync which i will get but is there any freeware or can't live with out programs I should know about?
Thanks
Have made the search also mate...
Finally I decided to buy SyncMate Expert by Eltima software. For now still no problems syncing between Mac & HTC HD.
I receive mail on my HD directly, so I don't sync my mail items with the Mac Haven't tried it yet. But I guess it's OK too.
I want to be able to access the internal memory using Macintosh, but if I plug it in it only shows the SD card.
Is there any *easy* way of browsing the on board memory without using synch software?
I decided to go with the missing sync. Trying to find anything for WM to Mac is pretty hard. I am waiting to use my HD as it just came in the mail and has to charge for a little while before I fire it up.
What would the best conversion program for putting videos onto my HD be?
interesting topic... I'm going to have my first mac next week... how does the mac software process 'invitation tasks' (i don't know the correct english expression, i mean the thing that via ms outlook you can 'invite' people for tasks or be invited and the task is added to the calendar automatically)
has anybody tried outlook for mac yet and does anybody know whether and how it is possible to sync with winmob phones? (I mean ms outlook for mac, not windows outlook run under parallels)
regards jan

is there a significant difference in function between parallels and vmware?
I can't justify using a windows VM just to use my phone.
I have all my contacts on my phone and i want to move them to the computer. Im afraid if i connect the phone to the computer it will synchronize with the empty outlook and delete all my contacts from the phone. How do i move the contacts? I cant do it via Bluetooth.

hi Cooney,
you can try using iMobileTool Windows Mobile Backup Suite.
It allows you to backup both contacts and SMS from windows mobile to computer - Backup contacts and SMS into Text file format(.txt file).
I would backup your contacts in a .txt file via your HD and then transfer that file over to your PC, when you connect your phone via USB, make sure you select the Disk Drive radio button to avoid having ActiveSync immediately synchronise with Outlook. Then access your Removable Disk from My Computer and transfer the file over to your PC from there.
Hope this works.
Best Regards.

When you first establish an Activesync connection to your pc, it asks if you want to merge phone and pc, replace phone details with pc or pc details with phone. Choose either the first or last option (first is better for future sync's)
The iMobileTool Windows Mobile Backup Suite sounds like a good idea but it costs too much. I discovered that i could change the settings before it synced my contacts, so now i have it connected to the computer but still no way of moving my contacts from the phone to the computer. Are there no free ways of doing this?
Activesync is free. Did you not read my post?

To cooney's credit, I didn't see you mention it was free either...lol

Yes. That's the annoying thing, iMobileTool Windows Mobile Backup Suite as you will have to eventually have to pay for the software. However, if it makes any difference, you can download it from the link provided above, and use it's Free-Trial offer - allowing you to only backup the first 20 contacts/SMS.
EDIT: you might want to try Turbo Contacts Backup. It's free but it's requirements state it is only compatible with Windows Mobile Pocket PC 5 , 6 , 6.1... try it out and hopefully it will work with 6.5.
.
Regards.

Hi again Cooney,
First off, you are not stupid. Things are only easy when you know how.
Try this:
In WMDC on your PC, go to Options -> Settings and choose the setting to merge items on the desktop.
Hope this helps you out dude,
Best Regards.

Okay, my fault. I am using you as a guide as I don't use Windows 7 or WMDC
What you will need to do is delete your WMDC partnership (both on PDA and PC) and next time you try to sync your device to the PC with the USB cable, you should be given an option to merge your items or opt to replace all items.

Hi,
I want to keep my laptop desktop folder syncronized with hd2.
How can we chose a complete folder with every files in it (not only several files), to syncronize via autosync.
Secondly on syncronization hd2 is keeping the files in device. How can we address it to send files to storage card?
Thanks all.
thats all possible with windows mobile device center.
look at it carefully and you'll find the right options....

my Dear friend,
I am already actively using wmdc for syncronization of several files and email accounts.
After your advice I double checked, but still you can only chose files. not folders.
Please kindly show me the way if you can do.
Best wishes.
I don't know how much this may help.
If you connect your phone as a external drive, you can use the free M/S SyncToy v2.1 (yes I know it is a bit of a duff name, but it does the job really well). There is also quite a bit of flexibility in syncing.
thanks for advice.
I will keep it in mind.
hope there is a way to do it via Autosync.
The answer to my own question is Sharepoint apparently. I just found out about it. My mistake.
Original question:
I bought a data usb cable for my Focus hoping to set up a way to transfer files from my Windows 7 computer to the phone. I mostly want to put Office files on my cell phone, not videos or music. Business use. So Zune isn't what I need.
I can't get the computer to recognize the phone for file transfer. I tried both the Win7 Synch and the Win Mobile Device Center software.
The computer does know that the phone is hooked up and is ID'd as the Focus.
Is this not possible to do on the Focus?
Thanks.
Alan
Try using Skydrive (it's available via your Hotmail/Live/MSN account). I have everything synced via Skydrive and it works great. There's another solution, Homepipe, which I haven't yet tried. There's also a registry hack you can do on your Windows PC that will allow you to drag and drop files (again, not something I've tried, yet, because Skydrive works well for my needs).
Hope that helps.

How do you sync with Skydrive? Aside from using the browser and downloading the file? Is there a way to actually set up a sync aside from just OneNote?
