Shortcut to a file on Start Menu

Hi,
I've been looking a the Menus applet in Settings to select what I want on the Start Menu, but I cannot seem to work out a way to have a shortcut to a file displayed there, namely a shortcut to a .reg file
Actually, I have a folder on the SD card called RegFiles containing my .reg files and I would perfer to have this folder listed up there with "Programs" and "settings" on the start menu.
I tried creating a shortcut of the folder from the SD card to the Programs folder but no luck.
Any suggestions?
Regards
Michael

how do i make my t-mo mda

run a program when the phone first starts up?
To be as short as you with your question:
WINDOWS > AUTOSTART
add shortcut or executable
well let me b a little more long winded so i can get a more specific answer...i want to take a program and automatically have it run whenever i turn on the phone...which would in-tern..make my life much easier...what would be the way for me to do such a thing...thank you in advance...i would appreeciate it
Yep, my answer is still the same:
Add a shortcut of that particular program to the WINDOWS AutoStart folder. You might have a shortcut for the program you want to run at startup in your START MENU ??? Open FILE EXPLORER (or similar applications), navigate to: C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs and copy the shortcut. Now navigate to C:\Windows\AutoStart and paste the shortcut there.

I'm confused. On my Apache, you place a shortcut to the program you want to run in "\Windows\Startup" I use Total Commander to make the shortcut, but there are other ways. Isn't the MDA the same?
It depends on your ROM version too!
If you do not have an AUTOSTART folder but a STARTUP folder then you have to put it in there! On my MDA it is called AUTOSTART

Folder shortcuts in program menu

Hi!
Is it possible to create folder shortcuts and place them in the program list in tf3d? I want quick access to certain folders on my memory card.

putting a folder link in program tab??

Greetings
1- Can I put a link to the Windows' program folder (the one that appears near the end of the "Start" menu) in the Manila's program tab??
2- Additionally, can I put a link to a folder (e.g. Games) from the Windows program's folder in the Manila's program tab?
Thanks in advance.
I would LOVE to know if this could be done. Fingers crossed.
You can. I have even put files there (Manila program tab)
The thing you have to do is create a shortcut of your desired objecti (prog, folder, tab) and put the shortcut to windows/start Menu/programs folder. I created an extra "Shortcuts" folder there to not mess up the look of PROGRAMS item in start menu.
The point is you can add any shortcut to tf3d progs tab as long as it is situated in the start menu folder

It seems that by clicking the newly created shortcut, it launches the explorer progam to show what is within the folder
Not very sexy, any chance that it stays in manilla to display the folder content?

not working for me either... i did exactly what you said.. i used the built-in Explorer to create the "programs" shortcut .. but whenever i click on the button mapped to that shortcut, i get the message "The file 'Programs' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its componenets is messing...etc"
BTW, when i click on the newly created shortcut from the Explorer winodw, it opens the program folder in Explorer window too. What i need is to open the program folder in the same way it is opened when clicking "Start -> Programs"
Any ideas??
That's the same error message I got too.
Any help from anyone? I would like to know too cause mine is opening up the explorer too!
Bump. Hope this thread is not forgotten

[Q] Default STK UIPPC icon location

When i add STK service and STK UIPPC package, a shortcut is automatically placed in root my my start menu. The name of shortcut is based on service provider (in my case, its EasyAccess.lnk). Is there any way to define where the shortcut will be placed? I.e.: "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Tools"
I tried provxml, it didnt work. I guess the shortcut is created on first boot and provxml is executed prior to the shortcut being created.
p/s: I do not want to resolve to mortscript yet. (im keeping mortscript as last option)
Thanks in advance!

Use a program like agent ransack to search your entire kitchen for the text "EasyAccess.lnk". There must be a file you are missing somewhere. This will find all occurrences of the shortcut in provxmls, app.dats, etc.

hardcoded path

I have searched my entire kitchen and the paths are not in app nor provxml I missed. But as I initially suspected, the path is hard coded into STK_Service.dll. I found few paths as unicode, and I did try to insert the desired folder "\Tools" to the path. Unfortunately, Im a newbie when it comes to hexediting...my edited dll resulted in non-booting room.... Will try again and post update or any hex wiz can help me out please? That would be very much appreciated.
My target is to drop the new shortcut into "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Tools"
I also noticed the icon registry entry for the shortcut is also defined in the dll.
My steps was: Recmod the module - edited the paths - recmod and replace the original module in ext package. The original module is attached.
