Good SMS Backup - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi folks,
so I have a question about how to synchronise correctly sms and/or mms.
I tested a plugin for outlook (don't remember the name thou), quite efficient, but it has an annoying drawback. When SMSs are synchronised, the date appearing is the synchronising date, not the date it was effectively sent or received.
Other programs I found were just archiving SMS but without the date too...
Any one uses a prog that might be good ?
Cheers

its not being developed anymore but I cantt find anything to do it better. the only drawback is that it won't backup mms

I'm using it for a time and it works great. It shows the real send/receive date not sinchronyzed date.

Want to redo phone, how do I backup and which of the ...

My phone suddenly feels sluggish as if some program is hogging all the memory and I've made a bit of a mess anyway :?. I also just recently got a 1GB mini SD and want to install apps to it.
I need to backup: my contact list, call history, text messages, notes, tasks and also calendar.
How do I go about doing this?
Also which of the following should go on PPC and which are fine to run off the SD?
-TCMP (which cab am I supposed to use again?)
-Skype (going to try new one)
-Total Commander
-Real player (don't think TCMP can play such files)
-The tweak app posted here
-Adobe acrobat reader PPC (I know there's something else but I don't remember its name)
-minimo (seems pretty interesting haven't had the chance to try it out yet)

Contact list, notes, tasks, calender is backuped with ActiveSync. You don't have to worry if ActiveSync works fine with Outlook.
About the call history and text messages I don't know. I myself haven't find them that important.
I use Sunnysoft Backup Manager for backups:
http://www.sunnysoft.com/en_clanek.php?clanekid=51
Check it out ... it's good if to restore to a snapshot before you screw up your device.
And remember to "redo your phone" with the newest available ROM.
To be honest, I have been running without Activesync. Don't think I have outlook installed...hmm. Is there any way to do it so that it can be loaded directly onto the phone? Otherwise I guess I will have to install it as it comes with office if I remember correctly.
If I can't backup text messages...hmm...there must be away. I would like to keep the call history but it looks like it can't be helped...I'll have to run through and collect some of those numbers :x
Do I really need the newest ROM for my mini S? :? The one on it right now works great. Heck even skype worked acceptably till now...

I suppose it's possible if you know where the data is saved. But I think there won't be a simple way of doing it. I would myself be intresting where the data can be found.

Once you "redo your phone" ... it's your best opertunity to upgrade the ROM. And I prefer you do so to avoid problems in the feature. Your device will be faster and be more stable (ROM 2.17).
2.17...Is that an O2 ROM? I will first need to figure out how to save those text messages. Hmm.... Worth emailing MS?

2.17 is the ROM HTC has distributed to all brands/countries ... depeding on each contact it depends when the ROM is available officially.
I think it's no worth mailing MS. Hope someone here know where the SMS are saved.

SMS synch with Outlook

Does exist a program that synchronizes all the SMS messages from/to Pocket PC (Windows Mobile 5.0) folders (Deleted Items, Drafts, Inbox, Outbok, Sent Items) to/from Outlook 2003 folders on PC?
I know "Jeyo Mobile Companion" but it's too buggy...
Jeyo Mobile Extender v2.0 has always worked for me.. on both WM5 and even the WM6 roms that recently surfaced
i've had all of my messages synched with Outlook Pro since march 2005!
I had a serie of problem with it.
I don't remember exactly but something like:
- the long SMS (more than 160 char.) was truncated
- "from", "to", "date" fields was switched for sent sms
Perhaps it happens only with Outlook italian version...

Are you speaking of companion or extender?
Jeyo Mobile Extender 2 worked well for me when I was using WM5 and continues to work well now I'm using WM6 - indeed, it's the way I ensure I don't lose any text messages when I hard reset after a ROM upgrade. Even works in Vista (with minor modifications because of read-only restrictions).

Syncronization with PC

Hi all!
Just wanted to have your advise on what program to use to syncronize X1 with PC?
The reason I ask is that by syncing with Outlook I can sync only contacts and e-mails, cannot backup sms. Also, the way X1 saves contacts to Outlook is a bit weird. To cut the case - I don't like it.
I use MobilEdit to sync, yet it is quite good for contacts themselves, but still sucks with sms and doesn't fully support e-mails.
Also, in regards to syncing, does anybody know, why my phone constantly is changing name to WINDOWSMOBILEXX upon attaching data cable? Annoys really.
Thank you in advance for your responses.
This is all over the forum.
Jeyo make good software for what you ask for.
This is what I found. Doesn't seem to be enough info there. yet, I've found software for sms full backup here. OK, anybody else could advise anything on that?
Also, in regards to sync error name change to WINDWOSMOBILE I was unable to find any info, neither here, nor google... Please point me in right direction, but not the door

so i though sms was an issue.
Also with backing up emails, i dont really know if any tool that can. But most emails are kept on the remote server, so its quite easy to re-download the messages from the server to restore the emails......

Works well, nice to have somewhere to backup my txt over the air. Mind you most of it is useless if you have an exchange server to sync contacts and emails, calendar info.
I already useed the closed beta for a while and it's working well!
Not try my phone yet. but did on google sync. found a problem on google sync. google won't accept big size of photo in contacts. google will resize the photos. Anybody has the same issue on my phone as well?
I've been using this for some time now. Got in beta right from the start which was nice. And I can't imagine not having this piece of software anymore. Especially nice when you upgrade ROMs a lot (like I do ).
"unable to connect to sync server"
is there a way someone could upload the installation file for the touch screen one? the Microsoft official site seems to be upgrading and the official install URL is broken...
it's not really good..it doesn't find any duplicates even when they are present..and it doesn't know merge contacts..
been testing, nice indeed. but it is almost useless without the ability for pc sync too (as in concept of MobileMe for apple). if only microsoft going to release that then im all sold

SMSSync with Exchange 2010 Tests (2307x Builds)

Dear you,
First of all, i hope this is the right section. Since i'm talking about an issue i found on latest builds, i suppose it is. Moderators feels free to change section if necessary.
I've flashed yesterday my Touch HD trying 3 rom (all 2307x branch) and found always the same issue: when syncing to exchange 2010 everything works but SMSSync.
No way, the sms app seems broken, not only regarding SMSSend button but either SMSSync through EAS (well actually some of them don't even have the SMS native message app).
Everything worked correctly with previous rom (21xxx), i was able to sync and sending messages both from OWA and OL2010.
Can anyone confirm there are issues with the SMS? Any idea on how to solve that?
I know SMSSync through EAS is something pretty new, i'm just stressing that.
NB: I'm using Exchange 2010 RTM, and was working with 21000 branch, this means no issues server side.
cant be much help, but damn - didnt know 2010 RTM'd! i thought it was due in in the next week or 2.
either way - i've heard it's pretty good.
on a more helpful note - have you checked Technet? im sure theres gonna be plenty more people who are in a situation to test SMSsync than on here...
HTC Messaging problem
Stupid HTC. They've released HTC Messaging without even knowing what they were doing..
Actually HTC Messaging Application uses it's own service to deliver/receive SMS in manila 2.5. What's wrong? Well, defaults messaging app from windows mobile is needed as default's sms/MMS provider to deliver SMS to exchange server. Using 3rd parties providers completely removes functionality. I don't know how it works in depth, i'm not a WinMO guru, however after applying zenkinz 1.2 patch, all NEW messages started to correctly sync with exchange 2010. Since only new messages started syncing i belive the winmo default SMS Service writes somewhere what is in need to sync when a message arrives or is sent.
This is a shame: i thought from the first 2307x built the messaging app was completely broken, but it wasn't Microsoft's fault but HTC's!!! I spent a whole weekend about it!!!
Argumentative note: they've released the HTC Messaging along with WinMo 6.5 update: this means they're cutting out SMSSync feature from the beginning. I'm thinking to all those poor IT Pros which are buying an HTC to test sync functionalities. They will end up with an headache.
Please note: Zenkinz patch addresses SMS only. Applying this patch disables MMS functionalities.
You can find Zenkinz patch here (i hope cross posting is allowed this case):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556614
Please, can any mod to put a [Solved] tag?
Thanks.
EDIT:
@veehexx: Unfortunately there was no technet to help me, i suppose it's an unsupported scenario. After all, i don't think it was microsoft intention to have it's SMS App completely rewritten by HTC!
I had to use a man-in-the-middle (better service in the middle, LOL) approach to understand winMo side activesync hadn't any knowledge of SMS received/sent.
Oh yes, this is really something I could slap HTC's face for.
How could they replace WM's text messaging and disabling SMSSync with exchange 2010??
I recently bought a HTC HD mini which has WM 6.5.3 and it was impossible to sync SMS until I used Zenyee 1.2 patch. Plus I had to install ArcSoft MMS. Otherwise no MMS could be send/received anymore after the patch.
It works now, but it doesn't feel clean. When I click on a text message in Manila it still opens HTC Messaging to view it. Only if I click on Inbox it goes to Outlook.
Despite all the good work that HTC has done for WM; with HTC Messaging they just overstated the case...
are u using Exchange Active Sync in wireless?
I've found another problem with SMS Sync, any rom, even clean one.
Sending SMS from Outlook or OWA just works 2-3 times before AS process on windows mobile hangs on sync. Soft reset is needed which sometimes means double sending SMS.
I've tried almost everything, disable T9, word correction, no way. It just hangs. I suggest to use SMS Sync to keep messages on your inbox only, not using send feature from anywhere but Windows Mobile. To me, it's something with Windows mobile.
just tried to setup our Exchange Server 2010 and my phone with activesync on wireless and it works like a charm
Randolph2000 can you please try sending some SMS from Outlook or owa using 2G/3G connectivity?
Activesync hangs to me after 2-3 SMS.

So, it would be pointless to write HTC support to fix this...
Anyway, I wrote HTC to include SMS Sync feature on the HD Mini in their HTC Messaging. Let's see what their answer will be.

Guess it's something wrong with some software which come with the rom. Looking on WPsupport forum, there seems to be some issues with predictive text feature, although disabling it won't help at all. I've tweeted the MSExchange Team to have a look. Let's hope something happens.

Are there any updates on this issue? I've the same problem with the latest 1.36 from HTC with Zenyee-Patch
