I read in the wiki /wm5 tweaks that I can change the location of My docs folder to the storage card.
However, the \FileSyncPath folder. ... does this work on the tytn?
Thanks!

Not sure I follow your second sentence. Tweaks for WM5 should work generally on all WM5 devices.

Hope this is the right place for this....
I cooked & downloaded 3.17.03 (from Jeffs Kitchen) and have two problems:
1. When I go into Excell or Word now, I can't see any files that are loaded on the memory card. I have to use File Manager and double click the file I want. I can't find any way to inform Excell where to look either.
2. I also can't find anyway to add programs to the quick launch program (tdLaunch). I went to the authors homepage and dowloaded the PPC 2002 cab file but this won't run on my XDA. Curious that the author doesn't cover this most basic need in the README file. (I can't find any Help file for this even tho' I selected Help Files with all programs I chose to include.
Anyone know the answer to these problems?
A number of the attractive features mentioned in the ROM Kitchen announcement are not present on the version dloaded from Jeff. (Absence of tutorial at start-up, localisation to Central Europe etc, auto-config).
If any of the Developers see this, could they please comment why this is? (other than Jeff is not using the Developers ROM enhancements??)
Many thanks.

Tap "start",...tap "settings".....tap "today"...... at base of screen tap "items"......tap "tdlaunch".........tap "options" you can add, delete, etc from there. Hope this what you are wanting.

Try opening word or excel, at the base of screen tap "tools".....tap "options", take a look in there for the defaults for saving and viewing files. Might help.

No dice on that one unfortunately. Even tho' i tell it i want to save to Storage Card 1 it won't look in there.
It's not this "ignore my doc" file is it? I used ot have one but now I can't see one in the root dir of the card.
:?
Did you try reformatting the card, after backing up the files of course. Also have you actually saved a file to the sd card since your upgrade?

No, I havn't tried reformatting it. (After all its the ROM that was changed not the location of the data). And I just tried saving new files- They ARE written to the SD folder "My Documents".
But the XDA still doesn't see any files in the other folders on the card...
you have to save those files in the My Document directory on the SD Card. thats how MS did it.
Hi.
Actually, I dimly recalled that the file ignore_my_docs IS necessary for the OS to 'see' files on the Memory cards which are outside of My Documents.
I located a backup and found the ignore_my_docs file, transferred it over to the XDA and my problem was solved.
Not actually sure how the original was deleted. :?
Thanks for the feedback anyway.
Cheers
Since I don't know how to edit the Wiki pages and I didn't find the information elsewhere I would like to share the solution for revealing the hidden partition of Atom Life here:
Using a registry editor go to
HKLM\System\StorageManager\Profiles\Trueffs_DOC1\FATFS\
now open "MountHidden" and set the the decimal value to "0"
After a softreset there will appear "_QHiddenPartition" as a storage card in the file explorer.
Enjoy!

What to do with it, can we store files?

It's simply because I like to know what's going on in my machine. In addition you have instant access to desired files you wish to extract for later use or on other machines. I also heard that it shall be possible to store cabs here which you wish to be installed via the O2 Autoinstall routine after a hardreset. But I also heard that it could be dangerous to manipulate the files in the hidden partition(?)
Does anyone have detailed and reliable information about that?
Regards!
Hello,
I was wondering if there was any way to modify an existing CAB so that at beginning of installation it prompt you for destination (internal or storage card)
I have installed many cabs with this choice at the beginning but some others don't have it and it is important to me to save space...
Is it something to add in XML file?
Thanks

I think using WinCE Cab manager you can alter this.
How?
I have downloaded WINCE CAB Manager but don't know where to set this up?
Could anyone advise? or any other solution?
This is quite useful for all of us Ii suppose as it can save space on our internal memory (and we all know we dont have much

Once you have installed WinCE cab manager (on a PC), open the cab file with it.
For each of the files within the cab, you'll need to change the install location. Right click on each file, and select the relevant option.
Make sure that you keep the relative path the same! (perhaps just add "\Storage Card" to the front of each path.
Ok, i was bored about rewriting sdconfig.txt everytime i changed the romlanguage, so i decided to make something that will avoid this, and will avoid to write the sdconfig.txt too
What are the main goals of my project?
Install everything you want without careing about romlanguage
automatize every process
How it works?
Simple. Put your cabs/exes/provxml/xml to import/run in your storage card folder "FB_Install"
Ok. You said that I can install exes, but if i need to add arguments to the execution of the file?
Simple again. Create a file (as an example, if your exe is "myexe.exe") naming myexe.arguments. in it write your arguments. You can use the arguments only on exes.
Well, and if i want to skip some files?
Just create (as an example, if your file is "mycab.cab") a mycab.skip file. This works with all types listed here (cabs, xml, provxml, exes)
Well, i need to hide the customization while I install a cab. How to do that?
Again simple. If your cab is mycab.cab, create a file with name mycab.hide
And if i want to don't reset at end?
Create a file with name "NoResetAtEnd"
Ok, i have that folder but right now i don't want to install anything. how to do that?
Create a file with name "SkipCustomization"
Ok. That's nice. But how i can add my own config codes as i done on UCv2?
Create a file "AddToConfig.txt" and add there your config codes. this will be appended after the other config codes generated by the program.
I want to create some shortcuts. How to do that?
Create a Shortcuts.txt containing the shortcuts to create. You have some IDs:
%SD%
%PROGRAMS_STARTMENU%
%PROGRAM_FILES%
%STARTUP%
%MYDOCUMENTS%
This will allow you to create an universal shortcuts.txt without careing about language.
Each line contains a shortcute to create. Example line:
%PROGRAMS_STARTMENU%\Test.lnk:%SD%\myprogram.exe
this will create a "Test.lnk" in \windows\start menu\programs folder pointing to \Storage card\myprogram.exe (that for wwe).
I want to copy some files in the windows folder. How?
Create a folder in FB_Install called "CopyInWindowsFolder". all files there will be copied to the windows folder. You can do that for Programs,Favorites,Fonts,Startup,Program files folders creating folders:
CopyInWindowsFolder
CopyInProgramsFolder
CopyInProgramFilesFolder
CopyInFavoritesFolder
CopyInFontsFolder
CopyInStartupFolder
I want to install some cabs to storage card instead of internal storage. how?
Just create (as an example, if your file is "mycab.cab") a mycab.ToSD file.
I will include that feature on my future ROMs, but if someone is interested i can release it here.
EDIT: yes i know that noonski done something similar but i was searching about something integrated
Nice idea. Good luck.
One thing though. There might be a clutter of files created but users which can get confusing? How about just parsing one file with all directions?

Well, i can say i now i got it to work. Requires a bit of work but it works. Well, visual studio is EXTREMELY powerful
Looks really good, I really like to try this UC
This is also a nice tool
finally got it to work right.
Now it can install CABs to storage card without problems
I want that in my ROMs too. Can you share it here?
solved problems on installing cabs too. The installation dll will NOT be executed so you won't need to care about user interaction while installing
Definatly interested in checking this out since it can install to storage card.
hope u make it available..

well that's something for cooks not for users (it needs to be cooked in to work) so if i release it you can't use it at least when someone use it in his rom...
To me it looks like MrDSL is a cook. The ROM linked in his signature is made by him.
Are there any news? Will you release it here soon?
A powerfull alternative;
Will it get released? I'm eager to test it Virtually in an Embedded WM6 environment;
Windows (Embedded) CE/WM6 PowerToy: DiskPrep;

I'm glad though that User Customizer DevPrep (CPY2 Storage Card possible) saved my day(s) until now!

You got it working?
I'm at wits end on this one... I've tried everything possible... it has something to do with the HTCUSBToPCPopup.exe in the \Windows directory.... no shortcut I create linking to it will make it open...
go here for a how-to
http://labelfree.co.uk/archives/4
followed that how-to... 27 leads to sd card encryption. USB to pc is 34 in mycpl. so i created the reg key and .lnks for it pointing to HTCUSBToPCPopUp.exe in the win dir. doesn't work as well. even starting the exe itself won't work.
Right, well thats odd, because it means you have a windows ce 6.1 version of cplmain.cpl instead of a 6.5
hang on, you said mycpl, , are you using myclp.cpl instead of cplmain.cpl?
Impossible?
OK, so thats my mistake. I swear i made one and it worked with the code i put.
Sorry.
So, create a new notepad document, paste in
24#ctlpnl.exe mycpl.cpl,34
save. Rename extension from .txt to .lnk (L not I)
move to windows/start menu on your phone, and you can set it as a quicklink.
Starts USB to PC.
Perfect, thanksssssssss

Brilliant I've been wanting to know how to do this for a while. I swap between Active Sync, Internet Sharing and Disk Drive regularly. Thanks.
BTW: I renamed the file to just "USB2PC" with no .lnk extension and it still works fine.
Now I just gotta figure out how to set an icon for the quicklink - I think I read something about an app for doing that somewhere...... time to go for a search.......
