If I initiate a VPN connection while direct push is enabled it will connect to the VPN server for a second and then disconnect. I can see this in the VPN server logs. I have narrowed this problem down to a conflict with my activesync direct push connection. If I disable direct push my VPN connection will work with no problems. I have searched these forums and google and have been unable to find a solution. Am I missing something obvious here? Maybe this is a bug with this ROM? Any help will be appreciated.
I am currently running the following:
Cingular 8125
IPL/SPL 2.26
GSM 2.19.11
WM6 Underground Edition

HELP !
I used to access my work server with my XDA2 - Connect GPRS, VPN, Terninal Services hey presto. With my Qtek 9090 (WM2003 Second Edition Version 4.21.1088 (Build 14132)), I set up the connections and it will connect ONCE only to my server. If I try again it times out. I have tried with other Qtek 9090's and exactly the same thing happens - connects first time and then won't ever again. Anyone had a similar experience or even better anyone got an answer?
Terminal Services Client
Found a solution to my problem (post 13th March 2005) regarding only being able to connect once to work server through VPN and TSC. It seems there's a bug in WM 2003 which prevents subsequent connections. Anyway, the fix is here if anyone is interested. Whilst it says it's for HP only it worked on my Qtek 9090 and all is OK.

Apologies it's here. http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/HandheldiPAQ/us/download/20534.html
Hope some one can help with this - I am sure I've seen posts on the subject but can't seem to find them
Set up a PPTP VPN connection to use the wifi connection, all advanced setting set to enable this (same settings work on and ipaq with 2003se)
what happens is the xda connects to the vpn server receives an ip address and then drops
the logging on the server shows no errors
I have spoken to O2 who recognised this as a known issue but had no timescale for a fix/workaround
I have tried different radio versions and different OEM's roms to no avail
I suspect either the hardware or the WiFi driver but I'm no expert on pocket pc stuff
Would be grateful for a share of thoughts or even fixes on this subject
as this was the primary reason I bought six of them
Have tried latest o2 rom - issued by o2 today
doesn't fix the wifi/vpn problem and doesn't upgrade the radio either
another half hearted effort by o2
I realise that this is no consolation but I have also had this problem trying to connect the WM3 VPN client. You seemed to have got a bit further by getting an IP addr from your VPN server. Another point to note is that if you try to connect to your VPN server via GSM (instead of WiFi),
the connection session goes a little further (if you check thru the server logs) but again, in my case, it ends up with a "VPN server problem, check your username and password...".
Our VPN server happens to be a PIX firewall, can I ask which VPN server are you using ? :x
VPN
We are using a simple Windows server VPN PPTP for the purposes of testing - it works fine over GPRS just not wifi
I have had an email from O2 confirming that they are aware of the problem - but the last rom update is the last one they are going to issue
and they have no plans to fix the problem
I will be taking this further with O2 and will let you know the result
in this forum - but I don't hold out much hope
Please forgive me if this topic has already been covered here - I've spent the last 3 hours searching but may have missed it.
Although I have a K-Jam, my boss has an XDA Exec / Universal and he's asked for my help in setting up VPN connectivity. This will be a VPN connection over wireless & / or phone network data connection into a Windows Server, used for syncing with Exchange, Terminal Services, etc.
So please (if possible) can someone who's successfully setup a VPN connection please post a step-by-step guide to doing so, or point me to a thread that I've missed.
TIA
VPN on JJ
I have done it, but not able to get it to work. i logged a support call on imate, and they sent me the steps outlining the obvious, and still not able to get it to work. I was only interested in the VPN over WIFI using my home wireless & ADSL to that I could operate Terminal Services.
The VPN does connect, but when TSC was running, it cut off. Going into connections, and create a new VPN is an easy exercise if you know what you are doing, stopping it from disconnecting was the diffiiculty.
I was told, but cant vouch the accuracy, you need your phone networks assistance to do this over a GPRS internet connection as they have to open a port, again, not sure.
There will be more knowledgeable people on this network that can help, if not, then I will try some more.
Hi all,..
I thought It had something to do with the exclusion of a specific ip range or domain name.
Try to go to settings, connections, go to the screen where you make the VPN connection. In this menu klick the Advanced Tab, klick on exceptions and type in the (for instance: 192.168.1.0) range or the domain name of your company if you connect through domain name...
Now I've got an question,.. setting up an VPN connection is not my problem, the problem is that I would like the connection to be established online when I want to go to for instance: 10.0.0.0. Only when (in every program) I connect to this IP range the VPN connection schould be automatticly established. On the original T- ROM I had that fixed, now on the I-mate rom I cannot fix that.
can some one help me making this working? so when I connect to my home server TS, of connect to a home share on the road the VPN conection will automatticly be established...
Best regards
AD
Hi
Dig out my post in this thread:

Should tell you what you want to know.
VPN works much much better on the universal than it did on my BA!
Nigel
Yep,..
after many atempts it's working now...
in the exceptions menu, on the exclusions the option
192.168.1.0 is'n't the correct option.... It must be:
192.168.1.* in order to specify the whle 192.168.1.--- range

I am having issues connecting to a PPTP VPN using the inbuilt Connection on my dopod d810 (WM6 Official).
I have set it up (In the connections under settings) and try to connect.
It doesn't connect, however I get no error message and it seems strange that I have to go to the edit settings part of the connection to actually try and connect.
I was reading on WM5 that there was a VPN connection under connections?
Can anyone give me some clues on how to troubleshoot?
Cheers
Always I have taken access to several VPN as work questions without any problem but with WM6 I end the happiness.
Since I have passed to WM6 already I could not have connected with my servers VNC by means of 3G/GPRS, do not connect not with WM6.0 not with WM6.1.
The question is that I connect with my servant VPN without problem but by WiFi.
I have tried with several ROM from HTC's oficial (WM6.0 and WM6.1) and a multitude of cooked ROM's but the result the same one: I canĀ“t connect across 3G /GPRS.
I have tried all kinds of configurations with the VPN (PPTP - IPSec/L2TP, Specific IP, DNS, compression software, etc) and the same with phone but no result.
If I use any rom WM5 I work with the different VPN without any problem.
Where the problem can be?
Thanks for help.

Configure your Internet Connection with the APN.
Then add a work connection WITHOUT A MODEM CONNECTION to your vpn.
Then, you have to add an exception for "*/*.*", then WM 6.1 will connect to your vpn as soon as you access any webpage.
Review my settings here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=440224), i'm VERY fond to find a solution to my network shares problem, but i got VPN over 3G SOLVED.

Thanks for answer RiWaLE, but the problem is that I connect without problems with my server VPN across WiFi but it is impossible to do it by means of 3G and / or GPRS only when I have WM6.1 on my Kaiser.
With any ROM wm5 or WM6.0 I do not have problems but only with WM6.1.
