Firstly , do we have a link for a custom cooked rom image with latest updates for O2 ATOM?
Please link it here as the Rom images have been taken down.
Also would WM6 crossbow be ever supported for Atom?
How will we get this?
Regards
Krypto
The only custom cooked ROM I know is the modded Atom Exec ROM. My recommendation: unlike the Bigstorage ROMs for the O2 Mini, this modded ROM is not a 100% hit, since it stores (and probably gives) fake system information that may cause problems here and there.
There are no other cooked ROMs for the Atom, I'm afraid (Tho you have to admit, the Atom is a not-very-robust device and not really in any developer's interest in the first place).
WM6? Not likely, unless you're on HP. O2 has stopped issuing new firmware for vanilla Atoms some time back (including Atom Pure). Maybe the Atom Exec will get one, I dunno.

About a week ago we were all getting excited about the XDA II & SE and all the new product anouncements........ and..... its all gone very quiet....
Does anyone have any updates, a confirmed release date, or screenshots to confirm its going to happen ?
The latest news has O2 not releasing the SE update for XDA II devices. (File under "ways to lose repeat business and word of mouth.")

Yes, but they *are* releasing SE for the XDA IIs and IIi. I doubt it'll be too hard to port the ROM accross, as they're basically the same hardware with a little added WiFi and keyboard.
WM2003SE
No any news!!!!
if manufacturer release rom for WM2003SE, it will kill the market of XDA2s & XDA2i models which will roms on WM2003SE.
let's hope WM2003SE for our device!!!.
and now !! FORGET IT about SE !!!!
thanks

Can we cook a ROM for the MDA 2 based on SE?
Hi folks:
I don't need the little keyboard and I don't need Wi-Fi. But I do need the landscape rotation on the fly (Nyditot does not quite do it). Of course, the solution is a ROM cooked with SE as its base.
Can this be done?
Thanks,
Fernando
there is no such thing as people being able to cook with a basic windows ce version
all roms ever installed on our devices have been modified versions of roms released from htc
pocketpc is not like windows where you can install it on different pc's with different hardware
all drivers are hardcoded and all devices must be present and the same
thats the reason you cant install a xda2 rom on a xda1 or a ipaq rom on any of them
and people cant install xda3 on the rest of them
so unless they as in htc (o2 tmobile ...) release 2003SE to xda2 and xda1 then i dont see it happening
I have an XDAII ROM running perfectly on my XDAI
And have every intention of trying to upgrade it to SE when somone takes the ROM off the XDAIII and it shows up in a ROM kitchen.
Yes it may invalidate my warranty and some inbuilt utils are useless(WLAN / photo / bluetooth) on the XDA I - but overall it will be an upgrade to have landscape capability and other inclusions.
Just because it's not an official upgrade does not mean that the smart folks here won't find a way to make it work ( but at your own risk)!!
which version is that ?
1.60? 1.66? 1.72 ?
i've never heard anybody doing that before
are you sure you just dont have a 2003 xda1 rom on your device ?
Good point -
I should have been clearer.
It is ROM version 4.00.05 which I had cooked from a kitchen.
I have recently cooked another ROM with base version 4.01.12!
Will this not work on the XDA1 then?
Please advise as I have not yet installed it.
Do you feel that the WM2003 SE will not be able to be ported to an XDA2 as an upgrade unofficially??
Jayman
yes it will as will all roms made in kitchens
there are no kitchens for xda2 roms because they use the extented rom to store special programs and cant have them cooked the way
xda1 roms can so you can install that rom just like the one you already have
Thanks for clearing that up.
So do you think this community will be able to find a work around to port WM2003SE to the XDA2?
As it will effect my hardware upgrade path decision.
Thanks
Jayman

people talk about it here
if I flash the rom of an O2 Exec with I-mate's,
and i have errors and then flash back to O2 rom.
Will they notice?
Will I auto. lose my warranty ?
Hi
As far as I know, they won't be able to see anything if you reflash to old rom.
I flashed my Blueangel with completely different vendor's update because my vendor is lame... and don't support devices well.
Good luck.
what is the difference between O2 Exec and I-mate's ?
Are you alowed to post which site can get the O2 and I-mates rom from?
which is better? JasJar or Exec
Gadi,
it appears that you know enough on the issue as to preffer to use the
i-mate rom (or at least that's what I gathered).
I am just about to buy one - and I am deliberating between the o2 Exec and the i-mate JasJar -- do you have any recommendations as to which is better to buy, and why.
:!: Also -- do you have any problem operating the device with an Israeli (or any non-UK Sim for that matter) SIM -- OR did you have to unlock it - and if you did, how did you do it.
-Also could you direct me to the i-mate rom.
I will appreciate your answer greatly.
Hag Sameach,
Asaf
Hold on, when you use the imate WWE rom program, which is felt by most to be better, doesn't it overwrite the ext-rom and the radio and the rest, so there is no way, unless you have the equivalent exe file for your original setup, to go back to where you were when you bought it?
An example being I am on t-mob, and they havent released an update to the mda pro yet, so if I use the iMate rom and don't like it, or it bricks my device, then I am stuck until they release one to return the device to life/get it how I want it.
I thought you were doing a proper clean and write to the whole device not just the ext-rom?
Joe
Dotan:
As for imate Vs. O2 - The only reason i'd prefer imate is coz
they release more frequent rom updates.
Other than that - the hardware specification is the same (HTC universal).
the software might have been modified to suit o2's requests.
(splash screen, company utils ect.)
So - if i'm buying the phone, it might as well be i-mate's so i dont get all tangeled with warranty B.S...
However - i want to check the claim that the rom flash can be "un-done".
if so - i'd much rather buy an o2 exec that costs bout 100 GBP less..

As for- where to d/l rom updates.. well, after u buy an imate register at www.imate.com and then goto members page.
or - try asking here in the forum, post a topic asking for the latest Jasjar rom!
Behazlacha,
And tell me what u decide to do !
Gadi.
1. Is the i-mate current ROM less buggy?
2. If I flash it to my Exec, will I lose all my current files & settings?
my ppc krome spy didnt started after it got switched off while loading a wrong rom and now i want to install windows 2003 again
can anybody please help
i suggest you install the offical rom then. what is yours? if o2 then you should download the official rom from o2 website
First of all DO NOT post the same question twice and specially in two different forums. This just creates confusion.
The device looks similar to the Orange SPV M500, which is a variation of the HTC Magician, but I believe it's not manufactured by HTC and therefore is different internally. Therefore, your only chance is to install an original ROM for this make/model.
Did you not make a backup of your ROM before playing around with it?
The SPV M500 is a Magician.
but the Krome SPY is not.
Im going to be using an O2 simcard in it, and I have all the relevant unlock utils etc.
Now Ive downloaded the latest O2 ROM to flash with, but is this the best one to use?
I will be soft resetting before customisation, and opening up the EXT Rom anyway, so not fussed about it being O2 specifically.
Anyone got any suggestions?
Oh, Id like it to be similar to the O2 install, IE a single EXE. Dont really want to mess with memory addresses, umpteen utils and the like etc
THANKS
Got a O2 Exec with the latest O2 ROM on it till two days ago !
The only thing I can say is try Ivan or Helmi's ROMs. They can be set up really safely and easily. The great advantage as well is that your PDA will be a lot quicket to react and the new AKU has really been improved compared to the old one from O2. I mean old like really old, don't support ad2p for example.
None left Im afraid, all the ROMs have been downloaded already m8!
Where can I get the latest O2 ROM from then.
The version I downloaded was v1.13.188
Any other O2 ones newer than that?
Thanks
The rom I have is 1.30.162
Downloadable from http://www.my-xda.com/xdaExecSoftware.jsp
But it's from april 2006. So your probably better of updating to aku 3.x
Trying to update my exec to 3.5 soon.
I've just sold my O2 Orbit on Ebay and want to replace the rom before i post it off as i dont want any issues or complains with cooked roms.
which wm6.1 rom (standard preferably or closest) can i use?
There are so many roms about on the forum but cant find or think of one closest to my requirements
Cheers
cooa99
Just put the stock o2 rom on there, the wm6 one.
RUU_Artemis_O2_UK_3.4.206.2_4.1.13.28_02.67.90_Ship.exe
Or the stock HTC rom, also wm6.
HTC_P3300_WWE_3.13.405.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship_R.exe
Can't find a link for above file this quickly, but I think its better to the o2 one on the o2 device, would seem perfect for the buyer.
thanks very much
