Now how much this gonna cost me?

I'm in love or lust or something!!!
I'd kill to get my hands on one of these...

Hopefully it will be available on Vodafone so we can take advantage of HSDPA/UMTS (1.4MB Download speed).

i need this!

Well it's a cool device, but I sure hope it's not the successor to the Universal.

Stick on Universal for me, that is huge phone if in my palm. Anyway if someone give it to me as gift, I won't disappoint him/her, I'll use it...

From what I read, this has a detachable keyboard, thus I can't consider as a Universal successor.

To fast to talk? But if I read more and see the pict that uploaded that compare Athena to Universal... I think i'm start to fall in love with athena???

its really great device but for me I am still thinking I have same usability with my old universal. Sure, I would like 8Gb hdd and 5'' LCD but except of this I find nothing more usefull in everyday life.
I am fully aware of usb-host and ext. VGA -these are really great extensions but I am asking myself how many time I use VGA out except of those first time shows-off to my friends. Same for USB - How many time I attach external harddrive.
My point is - I would consider spending around 1K$ for a device with similar specs like my old uni.
But of course If I dindt have Uni I would definitely consider buying it.
And I would buy it right now if it would have 800x480 display or something with better resolution - this is the most important feature for me.
just my 2c
best,

Whoa...awesome . I'd have thought VGA res would look a tad pixelated on a 5" display, considering that all other VGA's are 3.7". But this one manages to pull it off...Is it an 18-bit (262K color) TFT, or the regular 16-bit?

Presentation using a HTC TyTN?

Has anyone been able to connect HTC to a projector and give a presentation e.g. present a powerpoint deck?

You da man!! Seems like an awesome software .. However, what kind of cable you would need .. because HTC TyTN is only mini-USB but the projector would need a monitor cable ..
Best guess on the cable at this stage: "Google is your Friend...."
Ok that google is your friend, but do you know what is the cable. Because here whe are talking about a output image to other device, this is possible using a cable, wich one. I know that is some new projectors that have a bluetooth connection and one sd connector (too expensive) that do this. But i havent head nothing about cable connection.

Basically, a mini-USB to VGA converter. Also, "NYDITOT Virtual Display" is for connecting to an external display but what's the point of the software really without a cable?
Sorry bud, but I haven't seen any external mini-USB adapters to date.
Frankly, I think you're much better off presenting off of a laptop, but that's my opinion.
I found this old article; maybe it will help point you in the right direction:

wonder our hermes microsd slot is a sdio slot?
I could be wrong but I don't think MicroSD slots are SDIO... The slot is too small and the cards too flimsy to support any time of external dongle.
yes i think so!

Awesome vua777. Nice find. Can't wait fot it to get released. Then I wouldnt need my laptop anymore.
[edit] WTF .. "The Video-To-Go micro SD Card allows Pocket PC users with micro SD (TransFlash) slots to connect their digital projectors or other displays to the PDA (micro SD to SD adaptor also included in the box). Please note: This product does not convert the screen’s image into a VGA video signal." .. what does that mean?

goestoeleven... Thanks for the compliment. 8) People like me define the future of the technology with their twisted needs ..
Well I'm glad somebody is going to be producing one of these... I do hope it's sturdy enough to get through a couple presentations, too!
Best of luck!
PS. I think my initial comment still applies -- you're going to need a screen scaler to work with this device (otherwise, your presentation will be 320x240 resolution!)
PPS. I haven't found any information that says the MicroSD slot is SDIO compatible (and I have no way of testing)... I hope it is though!
Pocket Controller is your solution.. works when connects any PPC to the PC using USB-Activesync...
Sorry for the time to reply...
Nyditot works in you TyTn? i need a Hard Reset every time I tried to change the resolution...
What you can do is buy a usb to vga converter, then buy a cable to can convert the usb to mini usb and your all set. Then you just need the software for the resolution.

You're kidding, right?
This this:
http://www.spectec.com.tw/sdv842.htm
I saw them at CES and they have lots of SDIO products. They were using the a prototype when I was there. It was Micro SD but I did not recognize the phone. It definitely not a states phone.
It worked well though.
Ever heard about that?
Yesterday I received my ShowMate (http://www.impatica.com/showmate/). It is a bluetooth/vga adapter. So far it is working pretty good, but didn't had enough time for hardcore-testing.
But you have to know that you need a software on your pc to convert your ppt's. And you also need a software to project (and resize) your converted presentations.
There is also another bluetooth adapter
http://www.infrablue.co.uk/index.php?a=irmabluetooth
I think, you also need software to convert your presentations for this adapter.
Impatica is currently working on a solution to show your hole ppc-screen as you can only show the presentations with the current releases.

[Car Acc] 7" Monitor + TV-Out Cable + Touch Pro - Need Help

Guyz, need ur honest opinion/idea here :help:
i'm thinking to install this 7" monitor in my car (USD110), and plug it with my Touch Pro via TV-Out cable .. so the video appears on the screen and the audio comes out from my car speakers..
The purpose is, so i can use my TP in-car with larger screen and better view
- Garmin Mobile XT GPS navigation (actually this is my main purpose)
- Google Maps Satellite Image n Street navigation
- internet surfing
- watch video
- listen to mp3
- play games (for my kids)

actually i'm stealing this guy's idea.. looks cool and useful
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjnABOFkJZw
So what do guyz think? is it not worth..? i can see more pro's than cons.. here are some cons that i've thought about:
- TP battery will suffer especially if long distance traveling (even we can charge battery while using the TV-out cable)
- internet surfing only when my car is idling ... how to surf if driving 60mph?!
There might be more +ve or -ve consequences, so i need ur honest opinions especially those who have tried and used it before.. Thanks in advance
Should work only problem is your Touch Pro is 4:3 and that's a 16:9 screen so you will either have a stretched image or black bars at the sides....
Infact now I see it says only 234 pixes high that's rubbish!
i use my Fuze on my iva-w505 all the time for gps, but i always want to touch the w505's screen to make changes.... then i have to grab the fuze to do it.
for gps... i say get something dedicated, for everything else... the touch pro should be perfect.

i'm noob in pixel resolution etc.. whats the best pixel for 7" screen?
I haven't checked if the TV out image goes off when you hit the power button to turn off the screen on the touch pro, but in my setup in my car i have my TP on a mount with some audio/power cable from ebay going into my center console. From there i wired an extra cig lighter off the cig lighter feed wires and plugged in a car charger to the audio/power cable as well as the audio to my aux on my stereo.
When I'm using it to listen to music if i need to charge it i just turn the screen off and it actually charges while still playing, so maybe it'll work the same way for the set up you're trying to do? This is all assuming the TV out doesn't shut off when you put the phone into standby.
According to that screen its 960x234 whereas the native resolution for TP is 640x480, so you would get a stretched screen, i tried it on my 46" lcd in the living room and it wasn't pretty.
I like using my Fuze connected to my Pioneer AVIC F700bt. Like someone else mentioned you have to tap the small screen on the Fuze to navigate it. There is a thread I found on mp3car.com that linked back to XDA talking about making the Fuze a usb host. If that becomes successful then we might be able to use an external touchscreen to contol our devices.
Until then, I'm gonna order a bluetooth mouse to control the Fuze easily with one hand instead of trying to tap small buttons on its screen with my fat fingers.
ewww
While I like the idea you got going on... you're really not benefiting at all except maybe for GPS use.
The lack of a touch screen on the 7" sucks. If i have to hold the phone in my hand and look AT the phone to maneuver around... I might as well just use the phone with a windshield mount.
Don't they make a 7" touchscreen monitor that you can actually use to control the phone entirely? I remember some guy doing this for the Axim x51v.
Anyone made any progress with this sort of idea?

i just picked up a Fuze to do this exact same thing with my f700bt. Was thinking of pairing the bluetooth mouse(Logitech v270 seems to work with WM phones) and keyboard(think outside stowaway) as well. My main purpose was really to escape the hassle of installing an external carpc. I do a lot of school and business on the road so this fulfills my needs with the mouse and keyboard added. Also, SLINGBOX
I just installed an AVH-P3100DVD with A/V input in my car today. I'd also like to run the TV-Out cable to use GPS on my screen.
I'm actually searching for the thread now on how to make it and I came across this thread.
just hook up the tv out cable to the fuze multi-adapter and the rca's on the other end to the a/v inputs of the headunit
i have a Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD which i then plug my HTC Fuze into. I use the adapter that came with the phone, and then plug a regular av cable into it. In order for the regular AV cable to work you have to plug the Red cable into the Yellow input, the Yellow Cable into the White input, and the White cable into the Red input.
The video quality is fair, the audio is so so. I use it mainly for my GPS and YouTube videos. Its pretty cool. When using the GPS on my Fuze I can have the sound from my phone come out through the speakers, at this point i cant play music though, but my stereo has a set up which i can use my AV input as my background (no audio just video), which then while allow me to play my ipod/radio/cd whatever with my GPS on the background. check ur manual many of Pioneer come with that option.
the sound that comes from the Fuze has a little static and can be quite annoying if the volume is high i dont know if this is because i am using the adapter and a regular cable.
anyone who has the actual Fuze Tv Out cable hear static?
well i hope this helps.
i would recommend it. it looks really cool and it is very useful when traveling.
Nathalie
well you could wait until the touch pro 2 comes out as that has 16:9 800x480 resolution.
for the external touch screen to work you would need 2 things
1st USB touchscreen kit, these are made for netbooks but most of them have Windows CE drivers on them...
2nd is your phone would require USB host mode but currently few of HTC phones have that.

I know how, I just thought I remembered someone making their own cable a while ago. I have 2 boxes full of A/V cables here but none of them have the correct jacks on both ends.
I have the TP from verizon, and i have slingbox at home, my kids are able to watch Disney in the van while driving around, not a bad picture, very little lag.

Shift vs. Archos 9 for school use. Advice Please!

Hey guys, I'm a medical school student, and I'm looking for a device to pretty much just run MS OneNote. I'd like a decent battery life running Windows 7, and good performance running OneNote and reponding to the occasional email. I currently have a very powerful Sony Vaio Z as my main laptop, but I really wish I had a touch screen to take advantage of OneNote. I don't necessarily need a keyboard since I don't do much notetaking/typing in class, moreso I try to listen and annotate the professor's pre-printed slides using OneNote to highlight, draw, and write an additional sentence here or there.
So Archos 9 or HTC Shift? Tell me what you think about speed, screen, portability, the hardware keyboard, ect. (P.S I'm not looking at traditional convertible tablets b/c of the fact that I have a Sony Vaio Z that I'm happy with and would trade for a lower performing, bulkier, traditional tablet... I just want something light and touchscreen for OneNote only).
For those of you unfamiliar with the Archos 9:

Shift for OneNote
I bought my Shift for nearly the exact same reason...as a OneNote client w/ handwriting instead of a full blown tablet. Once i found a comfortable position to write without my palm touching the screen, I haven't looked back. My only complaint is the battery. There's nice looking portable external battery that I haven't broken down and gotten yet...just google htc shift external battery. I put a 60GB SSD in and I can get about two hours on the Win7 side. Keyboard is decent enough for me to do other typing on too, but it is no replacement for a full size kb. I also like having the WinMo side in the event the battery is getting critical. I can shut down Win7 and then use the OneNote for Windows Mobile app and sync up later.

My experience with the recent Android 4.4 image on bananaPi:
- 1024x600 fixed resolution
- very laggy
- Antutu crashes most of the time, when it works I get scores <6000 (Benchmarks mean nothing, I know)
- XBMC Helix Alpha 2 uses 100% CPU (both cores) only in menu with disabled RSS, no smooth video playback possible
Right, the 4.4. image needs quite some improvement. This is the beta 1, so you know it has some bugs, overall, it's stable.
The hw 264 encoder works very well, I will post a video to show how Banana Pi screens can mirror to a PC, real time video/audio streaming
This is a video shows Banana Pi screens streaming to a PC, XBMC video can be streaming lively to a PC, demonstrates the excellent H264 encoder on Banana Pi
Another video, no rDisplay interference.
It shows how XBMC and YouTube play movies on Banana Pi
How much and where can i buy it ?
#mildlyinteresting
Android may be too limited for typical uses of such hobby boards.
Of course, it supports all kinds of Linux systems, ubuntu, raspberry os, etc.
You can download over 10 different OS images from bananapi.com and other sites.
You can now purchase Banana Pi from NewEgg,

I recently purchased a DSLR camera to take pictures of my stuffed animals. They are alive but they only come to life when I'm out of the room. I love them so much and I just want some kind of proof that they are alive so I know that I'm not throwing my heart into nothingness.
I purchased an older model DSRL that wasn't equipped with any WiFi abilities like some of the new models. I wanted to be able to view and control my camera through my tablet screen. I found out that I could use a USB OTG cable to plug my DSLR right into my tablet. Then all I needed was an app and I was up and running.
Here are the things that you will need to make this work.
1. OTG Cable
An OTG cable is an adapter that will enable you to plug a full sized USB cord directly into your Android device.

2. Android Device
You can use almost any Android device as long as you find an app that is compatible with it. I used my Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet and it worked just fine.
3. USB Cable
You probably already have one of these. You'll need a usb cable that can connect to your DSLR camera. This is the one I used to connect to my Canon camera.

4. (optional) DSLR phone mount
If you're using a phone, you can buy a mount that will allow you to connect your phone right to your camera. The mount in this link is meant to hold your camera and use it as a flash for your DSLR. For this project we will repurpose this device and install in backwards so your phone screen in facing you.

5. DSLR Remote App
I tried out a bunch of different apps but only found one that worked. It also happened to be one of the only ones that was also free. SCORE! I recommend trying Helicon Remote. It worked great for my Canon and was able to do everything I wanted it to do.

If this app doesn't work for you, then just search around until you find something that does. The term you'll be searching for is "DSLR Controller"
Now that you have everything you need, start by connecting your USB OTG cable to your android device. Then connect that to your DSLR camera using the standard USB cable and launch your DSRL Controller app. If everything works, you should be able to see the live feed from your camera and be able to control it as well!
Here are all the features that I was able to use once I was all setup.
Key features:
- Automated focus bracketing (focus bracketing, exposure bracketing and time lapse shooting can be combined in any way possible)
- Focus stacking result preview
- Extra long exposures - up to 32 min (all Canon cameras, Nikon D750 / Df / D600 / D610 / D800 / D810 / D4 / D4s / D7100 / D7200 / D5200 / D5300 / D5500)
- Advanced exposure bracketing
- Image review
- Geotagging (on devices with GPS receiver)
- Full screen Live View
- Focus areas highlighting
- Live View noise averaging
- Time lapse shooting
- Video recording
- Burst (continuous) shooting
- Hyper focal distance and DOF calculator
- Live histogram (gray/RGB)
By using my tablet as a controller for my DSLR, I was able to monitor my stuffed friends without being seen. I have not seen any movement out of them yet but I wont give up!
I absolutely love these apps. I have a large power bank strapped to my tripod for when I'm shooting video and I use my old Galaxy S5 as a monitor for my camera. Generally I use it for focus peaking as Nikon does not natively support it. I believe it's a Sony trademark.
Hello and thank you for sharing this information. I am using a Sony SLT A65 and I would like to know if this method is going to work with my camera. I should mention that my A65 does not support tethering. Thank you. [email protected]
