we have a few XDA of different models and they all connect to our server seamlessly except one which just wont!
all settings, few as they are, seem correct, tried many different names & passwords, which work on others, same result.
any ideas?
Gerry.

I use my Wifi connection regularly at airports, client offices, hotels etc. and have built up several previously used profiles for Wifi. Now when I need to connect to a new, undiscovered network, the XDA takes a long time going through all previous connections first. I can find no way of deleting those profiles I will never use again. Anyone know how to do this?
I don't know if anyone else is having this problem but it sure is getting annoying. I can NOT connect to XDA with my phone at all. I've tried several different ROMs to see if it was the ROM and none of them would let me connect. I can connect to any other site that I frequent without issue, in fact, any other data connection I try works perfectly.
Anyone have a idea what might be the problem?

Huh... how about using an alternate browser? Steel? Opera?
I don't see why xda would have issues. I browse it all the time with my phone and I've used JF, CM and Dude roms. No problems browsing.
Is this with 3G, Edge, Wifi?
Maybe try to tether it with a wifi enabled laptop and see if you can go to xda.
If you still can't but can go to other sites... I dunno. I would almost go as far as to say that your being blocked.
Also... try the xda ip address.

If that works but the http://www.xda-developers.com doesn't... then it's an issue with your dns. If not... then it's your data provider.

Cellular systems often employ a large block/pool of IPs and recycle IPs amongst devices (when you go out of coverage or turn off your phone). It's remotely possible that OP was trying to connect to xda using an IP which had been previously banned/temp-banned from xda. The probability of this being the case is pretty slim though.
Most likely its a dns issue or something. Try connecting via IP as suggested above.

Thanks for the replies guys.
This problem seem to have started after I downloaded JacMan Hero v1.7 using TMO data, WiFi worked most of the time. This was tried at home and OTR.
I've tried all the browsers mentioned including WebDroid beta when i noticed this problem. Flashed back to HardSPL, ..14.11 radio, JF1.42 thinking that this may be a possible solution. Still no worky. Tried a bunch of different ROMs and finally got it to work on 5.0.2Hr5 w/26I radio, which incedently is the only ROM/Radio combo, so far, that will let me connect to XDA. Oh... same results w/tethering.
Never thought of trying to connect with the ip addy so I don't know if that would have worked.
Is there a way to clear the DNS manually?
I would like to call TMO but how do I present this to them, you know I can't say "I've tried a bunch of different ROMs so I know its on your end"?
Hello every body
I'm unable to conncet to wifi networks that require web based log in.. did any one face the same issue?
Sorry, haven't had the chance to try web based login yet.
However, I've got another wi-fi question (hope it's OK to post it in this topic):
Is it possible to connect X10 to WPA2-EAP networks? Using a computer, my regular user name and password gets me in without problems. Using X10, I just get "disconnected". The problem might be that there are four different boxes to fill in - two types of user names and two types of passwords. (Sorry, I can't get to the exact names when I'm not nearby that network.) Does anyone know what type of info I should put in each box?

I've tried WPA2 enterprise and I think not all EAP are supported. I tried in an university campus (using eduroam in europe) and cannot connect. It surprises me because HTC Hero (also Andriod 1.6) can connect but it must be a tweak of HTC not standard in android 1.6.
Hi
I have a wifi problem.
If I have wifi "on" and do a reboot, somtimes the wifi is "off" after the reboot.
@ eyeweaver
If you mean things like University networks, they need a proxy server which Android 1.6 doesn't support.
For those experiencing WiFi disconnections, I have found something quite interesting. Please take a look HERE

Hey, I just got my Xperia X10 to work in our university wifi. WPA-EAP PEAP with MSCHAPV2. I used the app Wifi-Config Editor Pro from the market. You don't even need to root your phone. I hope this works on everyone else also. I was so thankful with the developer. This app saved my phone.
Hello people,
Two days ago I bought a Legend only to discover that it has some issues with Wi-Fi. Here's what I mean:
I did the initial setup fully, set up a Google account, Wi-Fi connection only. Weather and Mail (Imap, not Gmail) work perfectly with my home WLAN, but Market does not. What's even strange - I can only open .bg websites (I'm from Bulgaria) in the browser, but nothing else, not even google.com. Those two work just fine on a 3G connection, though.
I tried all sorts of tricks with my router (D-Link N in mixed-mode if it matters), but it was no good. Even set the phone to be in the Demilitarized zone so as to have no problems communicating on port 5228 as I read Market needs to use... still nothing.
Please, can anyone think of a way to solve this annoying problem?
May thanks in advance!
Did you try switching the router to only b/only g/only n mode?
My router is a D-Link DSDL 2740R N and I haven't problem.
Also the coverage is satisfactory.
Try changing your DNS settings, and check router's MTU. Although just guessing here...

Yes, switching the mode was the first thing I did - going to g/b did no good.
Like I said, I don't have troubles connecting now - just a very limitted access to websites and services.
And what DNS Settings? The ones on the router? But they are working perfectly with my two computers, it's the HTC Legend that has issues.

So, I just talked to the support desk of my ISP and they told me they had never heard of such a problem. According to the guy, everything should be working normally because they were not blocking any kind of traffic/ports.
Any ideas?
I'm hopeless here. I have a paid VPN service, and it works perfectly with my PC, with my mobile on Wi-Fi and with my friend's mobile also on 3G, but not on mine. For sure there's something wrong with my device. I tried hard reset, different ROMS and all different servers and settings.
It does connect to the VPN and it keeps up the connection, but internet just doesn't work. Anyone have any idea why this is happening? I tried to search other threads about this, but no success.
Thanks
Raphael
Same here ... I search but nothing ... I'm on Ressurection Remix 3.1.3 with Kernel cm 10.1... VPN in 3G don't work
Have you tried the app Go to my p.c. app?

vpn thrue 3g and mobile connection
hi
reason, routing.
1. you have to setup your vpn connection to route any data between your vnp-connection.
or
2. you use another apn who route unsecured and secured data to different routes.
(secured data = VPN, unscured Data => www)
Check the isp apn if it use a stateful paket inspection firewall. this apn can ussually only route secured data (vpn).
Its no bug its a feature to solve some problems like too much connections, timeouts, reduction of hacker attack surface, and more..
you can find this information in the special vpn-whitepaper from your isp.
i hope this helps you.
How does the go to my p.c. app work?Is it pretty good app. Thanks

One thing I notice not all 3G provider allow VPN traffic. Orange is one that I discovered not allow VPN via 3G.

When you set up the VPN on your phone, make sure you fill out the forwarding fields as 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0 otherwise no traffic will be forwarded through it. Testing on wifi from the same location as the host is a miserable way to test VPN as it tells you nothing. Turn off the wifi, and always test on your mobile data. There ARE carriers out there that WILL filter out VPN connections for normal user accounts and require you sign up under a business-class account to use such connectivity, this is because they want more money from you, and to not give you an easy way to get around their tethering detection. Plus in some countries, you're not allowed to possess the capability to encrypt and secure your own data/traffic and the means of encryption are banned (and therefore filtered "on-the-wire").
Use VPN Service that has open port. Like http://xtreamvpnworld.blogspot.com ive been using it for more than a year. I got no problem.

That's seems odd. Anyway I haven't tried built in vpn, how about openvpn? Have you tried it? I think built in vpn doesn't support voips like viber etc. Or maybe your vpn provider does not. I really don't know. Because I tried using droid and xtream vpn it works on every chatting platforms.
