How to change ROM Version & ROM date? - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Dear all
I cooked my ROM of Himalaya
the vesion shows 3.00 a 64 LOC and the ROM date 10/30/05
I want to change the ROM version and ROM date
Would u please help

I've been looking for this, too. From what I've managed to dig up, there might be something in the S000 file in the NK.EXE module. But I am not at my kitchen right now, and cannot take a look at that file.
Could anyone shed some light on the way to change the ROM date when cooking?
Thanks a lot,
-pvs

Yes ... the pagepool changer. I've seen it, but haven't tried it, as I'm using a Hermes. But who knows? It might be worth a shot.
Thanks for the suggestion.

that would be it. sorry, it is for the kaiser, but maybe someone in the hermes forum can check it out and make something similar. the cool thing is it does change the rom date, version and pp all at once. good luck and heres the actual thread.

Kwill you are too kind! Thanks so much. Actually, I already found the thread and DL'd the app. I figure I can try it out and see what happens. I'm HardSPL'd, and as I'm only flashing the OS here, I SHOULD be safe if my device doesn't boot afterward. I'll be trying it out tonight, as long as my wife doesn't have any issues with me spending another evening playing
Thanks again ... SO MUCH!

Isn't that taking it a little to far? I can understand them getting annoyed about time spent here, but cheating?!?
I think, there are some hex values in the OS.nb file that can be changed... Problem is, whenever I change those values, the ROM fails to boot!
I'll need to go and check the offset though... Anyone interested?

Hey, this becomes an addiction. I've been working on a ROM for my personal use for several nights in a row now. Seeing it from her side, I could see why she might get a little threatened. But at least I'm at home, not out galavanting

I would definitely be interested if you could shed some light here. I've been trying many things to change my ROM's date, but none of them seem to work so far. I've been searching here, Google, Alta Vista, PPC Geeks, and many other places to try to get a handle on it, but it just doesn't seem to be documented yet (for the Hermes, anyway). I'm gonna keep on trying ... maybe even simply using WinHex on the OS.nb. But anything you could do would definitely be appreciated.
Thanks a lot!

Automated CID Unlocker by ND4SPD (USPL/SSPL)

A lot of people who try to flash their juno with a custom rom seem to have a very big problem with the CID Unlock, so I decided to make this installer:
This is just a wrapper for the CID Unlock by jockyw2001 and all credit should go towards him for making this though he doesn't have a juno.
Report here if it works properly...
Note: You only need to do this if you are on the t-mobile official rom.
@MODS: Please sticky because of all the users who ask the same question.
FIXED!!! Please visit the allshadow version of this thread because of uploading issues: http://allshadow.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1876
very nice nd4spd. I know alot of users at allshadow will love this.

Absolutely!! Plus it'll ease on our AllShadow weekend withdrawls.
nvm im silly
I keep getting update error when it gets to the RUU, plus the SPL is not turning my screen grey, white, or anything. Just got this today after I broke my USPL fully unlocked Wing. I miss it a little until I get this running. lol
Sorry, I found out that there is a problem with it. Taking it down until it's fixed. In the meanwhile, use the USPL and SSPL by jockyw2001 manually.

I am unsure if the problem is really yours because I get the same problem manually. Seems to be an error with the jump-spl process. At least that is what I had.
Well people like shadowmike and kron2 haven't had problems with the manual version by have problems with the automatic.
I think I'll check that later today.
Hey ND4SPD, I remember reading a while back that there was some consideration of making this new T-Mo 6.1 rom as a cab for easier installation.
Are you really considering this or did I just imagine I read this somewhere?
Either way man, you guys rule. I just hope I can still remember how I flashed over from the first time, cause I've slept since then.
Thanks again.
MT.
*edit* Sorry for posting this in the Rom Dev. section, my bad.
I haven't worked on too much really. I've been taking time to enjoy the start of my summer break. I'll try to have it done when possible. I guess I haven't been keeping up with a timeline for this...
Don't worry about how to flash the rom. I'm trying to make almost completely automatic.

WTF >>>????
bump. updated first post. working now.
I just wanted to say, that I've had a t-mobile WING, and with this Unlocker tool, I was able to sucessfully flash to the Clean 6.1 rom without a single problem so far....
Seems like I got the same bugs that eeryone else has.... are we trying to use this forum or the allshadow one?
I haven't kept tabs up on rom development on the Juno, I got my hands on one, read a few posts, then flashed away-- WHICH I KNOW is a big no-no... but I couldn't helpmyself. =]
both forums, I guess. I'm glad you like the tool.
Just a quick question for verification. I went from my tricked out MDA to an iPhone and after dumping that I'm back on the Shadow. It's been awhile since I've run tools like this.
When I had my MDA I recall plugging the phone into the USB port, killing ActiveSync and any other helper processes and then running these.
Still the same process?
Thanks in advance.
(ok here is the part where you flame me for being a n00b)
And now I shall flame myself for not having read the .pdf explaining this process.

No worries mate
Unless you want to spend your life constantly cooking up ROMs I would not recommend it My OH hates me even getting my phone out now due to all the time I spent cooking on my Touch Pro.
On the other hand it is really rewarding when you get it right, and if you release it, there is some nice feedback from the community.
Make sure you keep plenty of backups of any changes you make, I never do and keep on having to rebuild my kitchen when I inevitably **** things up

But I have plenty of time and I would like to have a try.so where can I find caffee shop for hd2 updated software?

its like asking someone about how to repair cars or build your first computer...no simple set of tools and a tutorial will get you anywhere

Hmm, I built my first computer by looking inside another one, wasn't hard at all.
nkos719, knowing how to search for information fast and efficiently is one of the most important assets of a developer. Make the search function your most important tool and you will progress fast.
I looked everywhere but the only tool I found was the Coffee Shop kitchen v1 but I cannot open the files included in the rar file.
That's because it only works on Linux systems..
If you do not have access to an Linux environment, better forget ROM development for Android.

Putting the hardware is the easy part! I was doing that for my father when I was 7/8! Only now than Im turning 18 have I learnt to make a flawlessly working computer!
I agree with everyone else here...
Noone can give you the answer you want.
It took me months of hard work, with no help from anyone else but text books to be able to write java for android.
Thats your best hope.
Good luck though, Keep at it! Its worth it in the end.
