Codec or player that will play .wav - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hey guys,
Is there a codec for the windows media player for the dopod 838pro that will allow you to play .wav files? Some waves will play but others won't...Other than that is there another type of player that will play all of the filetypes?
Cheers

.wav file is a container. It may have the sound information encoded by different methods, including MP3, or AC3, or DTS...
So you need not a .wav player (well, not only), but also a decoder for a particular method. You have to find out what exactly do you need yourself.

windows media player XDA II

Ive transfered mp3 video files over to my XDA II but media player wont play them why? Is there a file size limit?
I have transferred audio mp3 over with no problem
well maybe windows mediaplayer dont like the bit pr secund rate of those mp3's ms dont really like mp3 and like to push their own format which is wma
i would try winampaq or some other free player and see if it play more nicely otherwise try different bitrates or maybe another codec
in cdex you can choose between a few mp3 encoders
Video MP3 file? I don't think so....
Windows Media Player will play wma, mp3 for audio and wmv and avi (possibly others too) for video, the bitrates and resolution size you use are important for quality of picture and quality of playback.
Use Windows Media Encoder for a nice little batch of tools, if you use Windows XP, then you can also use the windows movie maker which can export movies straight to pocketpc format.
Cheerio
if he mean video and in mpg and not mp3 then
pockettv and pocketmvp are pretty good mpg players

The best multimedia players!!!

Hi guys,
I'm looking for the best mm player for my Jam...
I'd like a player that:
- can works in background
- can play all the mm format (audio/video) such as: mp3, ogg, mpeg, avi,wma divx ecc...
- the player have to stop when I'll receive a call or text and then play again
- the player have to don't use the standard configuration fot the power management (es: I configure my Jam to shutdown after 3min. but if I play mp3 I don't want this!)
The Win media player 10 it's very nice for example but how can i add the plugin fro divx, ogg and all the other fromat?
Any other mm player application?
try this
Think TCPMP is the best.
http://cc.serveftp.org:8884/tcpmp/modules/news/
I think that Betaplayer and TCPMP are the same now
Yeah, TCMP is the newer version of Betaplayer. Dunno why they renamed it, but oh well. Whaever floats their boat!
A good music player is MortPlayer. A good video player is the already mentioned TCPMP. You can also find plugins for the WM to play Divx movies and so on but I would recommend the above combination.
Man, except for TCPMP (aka BETAPLAYER), there aren't any mediaplayers that support all those features...
is there a way to play AAC file (ipod) with WMP 10
I'd like to find a player that can play AAC file (ipod).
I tried Nero ShowTime Mobile which is good but doesn't stop correctly when you get a phone call
Is there a way to play AAC file with WMP10?
Hi guys!
I tried TCPMP and it's really nice but...
I'd like the player in "pause" when I receive an incomming call and with TCPMP I can't find the option to configure it... seems to continue to play but with no sound.
How does it works?
Talking about TCPMP.
A fiend of mine gave me an MP4 movie file which he had on his PSP.
I figured as TCPMP plays MP4's it would be as simple as transferring it onto my device and playing via TCPMP.
It works in the sense that i get great video, but there is no audio.
I get the following message at the beginning:
AUDIO CODEC (MPEG4 AAC AUDIO) Not supported by the player. Decoder was removed from the official install package.
Is there anything I can do to resolve the audio with this player. Or should I use another player?
That problem would be fixed if you had the same codec that Namelous is after (3 posts up). TCPMP comes with the MP4 video decoder, but need the AAC audio decoder to run, as most MPEG-style movies are encoded with separate video and audio. If you were to rip a movie to your hard drive from a dvd to Mpeg 2, more often than not you'd have audio encoded in MP3, so you'd need both the Mpeg 2 and MP3 codecs on your system.
Good luck finding an AAC codec for PPC. If you do, please let me know as I've been looking too!
What about Soundexplorer? (obviously not for video...). It also records sound (much players don't). I like it very much.
Looks like PocketMusic has an AAC plugin.
Haven't tried this program yet, but would love feedback if anyone does (like does it pause music on an incoming call, how is the equilizer, bass boost, overall usability, etc.?)
Thanks in advance!

Okay, I went ahead and downloaded the trial version on my MDA Pro and like it a lot! Doesn't play movies of course, but the equilizer is pretty good, and it pauses your tunes on incoming calls. Other features like mapping to the hardware buttons, big finger-sized screen buttons, skins, cross-fading, and an alarm clock make it nice.
AAC Plugin...
Google give:

It's illigal in some countries, but when you are not living in them you can try this.

Windows Media Player (MP4) Converter

Hi
Are there someone recommend softwares for converting MPEG video file into MP4 that can play in Athena WMP 10?
I tried ImTOO converter but my Athena says it doesn't support that file. I have old MP4 files that are able to play in WMP 10.
Thanks
Felcus
install TCPMP and the codec pack then you will be able to play any MP4's !
where to download?
google is your friend ! start with just TCPMP and if that does not work add the codec pack, the codec pack can be a little harder to find so I will up it for you.
Video recorded on HTC touch cannot view on Windows Media PLayer
HI,
can anyone help? I recorded some movie on HTC Touch and when i copied the file to my PC, I can view it on Windows Media Player 11. How can i solve this?
Do you mean you can't view it?
What type of file is it? MP4, 3gp, avi?
Id recommend VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ on the PC for viewing most video files. Its free, lightweight and just works.

Click to collapse
I dont know why you did not start your own thread on this but try installing something that can play 3gp files like quicktime
Windows Media Player supports only certain type of Codec. To make WMP support MP4 format, you should install filters for MP4 format and its associated codecs. After you installing these filters, all players that use DirectShow technology, include WMP, will support MP4 format.
Install the following codecs to have a try.
Elecard MPEG-4 Codec Pack
If you can't install or still can't play MP4 in WMP, converting your MP4 to WMP natively supported WMV or AVI format with Faasoft Video Converter is the best choise.

Anyone Played a M4V File

Has anyone use the built in player or windows media player to play a .M4V file.
HTC website says its supported, but Windows Media reports a problem and the built in player, accessed via albums, does display the file in question. Although it does seem to count it when you use the library selector.
I have posted a question to HTC support who says .M4V isn't supported, see below, but the specifications on the HTC website definately say it is supported.
I really want to know if M4V files are supported by default, but am interested to know if anyone has played this format using other players, such as CorePlayer etc.
Please note I do not want to convert the file from M4V to another format.

Got a Response from HTC
.M4V (Itunes MP4 files) are supported but not if DRM is included.
I have now played one but the full HTC response is below.
Dear customer, M4V files are used for TV episodes, movies, and music videos in the iTunes Store. .M4V files are similar to .MP4 files, both of which are MP4 files. The difference is that M4V files are opened with iTunes player by default. MP4 files are opened with Quicktime player by default. The copyright of M4V files may be protected by using Apple's FairPlay DRM copyright protection. To play a protected M4V file, the computer needs to be authorized (using iTunes) with the account that was used to purchase the video. However, unprotected M4V files may be recognized and played by other video players by changing the file extension from ā€˜.m4vā€™ to ā€˜.mp4ā€™. M4V files contain DRM and the purchasing users info. It is recommended to use Requiem to remove the DRM and remux this into mkv. About the file in your storage card, when you try to opne in the album viewer not recognized the file and when you try with the windows media player then recognised the file because it have the codec in the data base inside the application. Best regards, HTC customer support team HTC Corp. Global Service Division
