My top left button (email) is normally assigned as the start menu button. After installing a new screen protector, whenever I pressed the button, it would open the start menu but start another program. I don't have any programs that open allow buttons to do multiple things, so I'm puzzled as to how this could've occurred or if it's related to the installation of a screen protector at all.
Any clues guys?
What does it claim to be assigned to? Go to Start>Settings>Buttons and check what it says there for Button1. Also, how did you assign it to the start menu?

I have searced but to no avile.
I do use magic button, but I want to be able to close an app without taping the top right corner of the screen, with the ok button.
am I doing something wrong?
also is the best way to null the active sync from auto starting still making a fake server exchange?
Keep stylus on the ok button for a couple of secs, then an icon like a house should appear on your taskbar. Press this for a short while and a menu sholuld appear where you can change the settings to close programs instead of minimize.
or can use smclose which is simpler - just place in windows startup folder voila!

I was messing around the button settings, and it seems like the the only button that can do "press and hold" is button 5.
what I would like to do is program the side "ok" button to press to lock, press and hold to unlock. Any registry gurus or savvy hackers here know if this is possible?
TIA
The Mogul comes with the option of using the power button as a "lock" for the other buttons. You can choose when the device is off to only respond to the power button being pressed.
I think what he is looking for is a button method of initiating the "device lock" application that can be added to the Today screen.
The problem with just using the power button is that if you accidentally press the power button then all the other buttons and screen will work. He's trying to actualy lock the device with a button.
you are almost right ebmorgan, except that you CAN map a button to <lock device> under settings-->buttons, but you CANNOT map a button or map the press and hold button to <unlock device>.
I tried AE button plus, it gave me a lot more options button wise, but still doesn't have a <unlock device> function built in.
My bad....I didn't notice you said "unlock". I was think of locking.
spb software makes a program called "SPB Mobile Shell" and can be found here http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/mobileshell/?en
This does exactly what you want! The left softkey will lock the device, and the right softkey will unlock it, instead of hitting cancel on screen or the * key.
Although i run this program, but not this option, is because of the "now screen." Which comes up no matter what, when you wake up the device or unlock it, which kinda sucks for what i want.
anyhow, if it's cool for you, then get it and enjoy!
go into the Now screen settings in mobile shell. You can uncheck display now screen box.
The question remains... is there a way to map a program to the "ok" key on the side of the Titan? It really doesn't do anything and its not in the button options. It would also be nice to have the hold option available to the other keys.
Yep, you can uncheck the display now screen box, but then you won't be able to make the right soft key unlock the device, it goes back to "press cancel or *"

Click to collapse
Me too! I'm looking for a tweak that will unlock my device by press-and-holding a button. The default 2-step unlock of Windows-Mobile is so annoying especially during bright outdoors.
S2u2 doesn't work for me because you need to swipe the screen to unlock which is bad for less sensitive screens. And it doesn't have transparency so it covers the current app.
i'm in a phone conversation, and someone asks me if I'm available on a certain date, i would want to check my calendar to see if i'm available.
i wanted to do this yesterday but after looking for more then a minute (while the call was open) i gave up.
does anyone know how to do this or even if it is possible???
(so open my calendar during a phone conversation)
pin it to the start menu
push hardware home button. then hit calendar on home screen. hit call hardware button or phone status in task bar on touch screen to get back to dialer screen.
I have the calendar in the start program. Everyone by default also has the "Today" on line one of the start menu, which will minimize the phone, take you to home screen, and allow you to open Tasks (or in your case, calendar). Finally, use the close button (X in upper right) to close the phone. It doesn't disconnect the phone.

thx for the replies guys!
Hi everyone! As the title says, for some strange reason this morning my 'Home' button won't work from any application, the button however does make the screen light up and the buttons light up, but does not take you back to the home screen... also, when at the home screen, the dial button would usually bring the contacts or the dialer page up, but this is not working either, however, if I go into the contacts shortcut on the home screen and select a contact and press the dial button there, it will call them...
so basically, my main issue is the Home button not working!
Its not rooted *yet* and is therefore running a standard rom, it does have a fair few apps installed tho, but I have used the advanced task manager to close everything... I'm v' new to all this Android stuff as up until a few months ago, I was a Windows Mobile person with my previous SPV's and HTC's so any help would be greatly appriciated!
Thanks, Adam.
hello , this is my first post, so i apologize if this has been already asked. i have just purchased a basic android system and am unable to add/remove items to the home screen menu on the default launcher. i have tried pressing an holding the menu item, but no options appear to remove the item, i have tried pressing and holding a blank area of the home screen and still no options appear. i cannot hold and drag to rearrange the order of the current items in the home screen. the home screen appears locked when i drag app's onto the home screen i get the message "no more room on this home screen".
has any one seen this launcher before that could please advise me of know of a similar launcher i could install.. Cheers in advance.
