Where are the Home Screen Settings? - P3600 General

I can't find the Home Screen Settings on my HTC P3600. The manual doesn't mention them and going to Settings->Personal shows no Home Screen setting. I've done a factory reset thinking that it would help, but still no Home Screen Settings.
Is there a way to enable it via a Registry entry or at least point a registry entry to a new homescreen XML file? I have no idea of the Home Screen program's name, so I can't execute it directly (if it's even present).
ROM version: 1.15.405.5

They are called "Today" under the "Personal" tab.

Today Screen not the Same as Home Screen

The Today Screen is not exactly the same as the Home Screen. The Today Screen is missing the Home Screen Layout option which is what I'm looking for. The Today screen has a theme selection which appears to be similar to the Color Scheme in the Home Screen.
How would I specify the Home Screen Layout. Is there a registry entry for that? I'm trying to place some home screen XML files in \Application Data\Home and I can't find where to select them.

Home screen (XML) are for the "smartphone" edition of WM5. Can't use them in the "normal" edition.
I wish I could use my custom Qtek 8500 home screen on the trinity...

OK now I know why I have never heard of "Home Screen".... never used a WM smartphone!

Any way to quickly change orientation of screen?

I had a Universal until recently (too bulky, buggy, and Wizard is so much nicer!) so I now have the Wizard/O2 Xda Mini S.
On the Uni there was an icon on the Today page for changing orientation of the screen with 1-click. On the Wizard there is none, and I have to navigate through several menus in Settings to change it.
Any way to add the Universal's Today icon to the Wizard?
Or failing that, how can I add Start Menu shortcut to the 'Screen' option in Settings?
Check out phm tools keys. They have a screen rotation shortcut.
I think there are registry hacks to show the screen rotation UI icon though (WM2003 at least)

Thanks, would really like that reg hack if anyone can find it?
EDIT: I found this for the Universal but it has no effect on my Wizard:
To change the display of the screen rotation icon in the system tray
The setting is at 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\ROTATION'
The 'HideOrientationUI' DWORD value can be set to '1' to hide the icon or '0' to show the icon
For example, to hide the screen rotation icon
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\ROTATION\HideOrientationUI = 1

CRAP! I opened this thread for the sole purpose of making that exact smart-ass response. You suck.
:? Just to clarify for those of you who don't credit me with a milligram of intellect, I wish to orientate the screen when not using the keyboard. This is a feature of WM5 and the Universal allows you to do it from the home screen, but not the Wizard.
I have however solved it by using Spb PocketPlus

Anyway to do it without installing pocket plus ?
Why not hook it up to one of the hardware buttons ? If you're worried about running out of buttons, you can probably install one of the button managers?
I've got '<Rotate Screen>' (built-in option in Buttons) under the 'voice call' button, and Magic ScreenShot under the same button+hold (normally 'voice memo'); I highly doubt I'll use either of those voice functions, so they fit nicely there
I just added it to mort button, but its still a key press and then a tap of the screen, would much prefer a today icon just to be tapped.
Well, maybe time for a developer to step in and make a tiny application that rotates the screen
http://www.devx.com/wireless/Article/21590/1954?pf=true
and
http://www.pocketpcdn.com/articles/rotatese.html
have code examples, but no compiles (boo, hiss - why is that?)
ZeBoxx: I've done it, but PHM tools already contains very effective screen rotation icons. Find PHM Keys... assign to hardware key or shortcut or whatever. Use his or my VJTrayLaunch and stick it in the tray as well if you want... oh, mort script does this as well I think.

Well, there we go
And for more light-weight (are they, really? I have no idea);
270-degrees (for Wizard):
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=15527
90-degrees (exact opposite side :x):
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=15011
180-degrees:
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=15332
PHM Keys seems to have some other neat things that I might download it for, but personally I'm happy with just having <Rotate Screen> under the 1 button (no special button managers)
off-topic: is the PHM website ever going to be back?
I have pocket plus 3 installed, so i just added 'Rotate screen left' onto the close button context menu.
Now its just a click-hold and click away - even from within a program (comes in handy when using internet explorer).

HTC Home Plugin displaying blank screen

I downloaded and installed the Shen Kaiser version 1.0 of the HTC Home Plugin. I can find in under start>settings>today>items but it only displays a blank window.
When I click the individual files in the /HTCHome directory, I can see the images. What did I do wrong here?
I have a Tytn with WM6.

HTC Home Customizer - Missing Contact Icon

I hope someone can help...I have a Mogul and installed the HTC Home Customizer it works well but the phone is missing an icon.
Currently: Home, Weather, Launcher and Profiles
I keep trying to add the 'Contacts' but it does not show up when I customize with either the "Today" or "HTC Home Customizer"
It should be fairly easy but I cannot find where to make the change in the registry if that is where it needs to be done.
Which version of HTC Home Plugin are you using? It might only be a 5 tabbed version. Try this one:

Are you also running any form of the Flo Cube? If so. That Is why.
To solve you need to go to today settings, uncheck contacts, hit ok. then go back in and check it to show again. Should be fine.

4 colums Start menu and programs tab for Sense 2.5?

Recently flashed Verizon's stock MR2 ROM with WinMo 6.5 and HTC Sense 2.5 (Manila 2.5.20132227.0). Its growing on me. Definately snappy compared to 2.1, but after a couple days I'm still looking for answers to the following:
-Slide to Unlock: ...every time the screen turns off it locks... is that necessary? Any settings or .cabs that'll give me a little more control of when it locks?
-Start Menu: Where can I get a 4-colum programs .cab for the displayed Start Menu programs... OR have the start menu display the standart WinMo 6.5 start menu. The .cabs I had for 2.1 don't seem to work.
-Programs tab: Where can I find a .cab to add a "Programs" tab back into the slider icons? The one I had for 2.1 (again) doesn't work. Also changing the registry entry in HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila doesn't work, either ("programs tab is hidden" from 1 to 0).
Any help would be appreciated.
yes you can change your lock screen settings...
It'll be somewhere in your settings... I cant tell you where as I myself never use it. I went into mine and saw in settings\system there was something called lock config so I'm sure your set up would have something like that.
the start menu... well in 6.5 they have the honeycomb menu. I think I read back a long while ago about a way to make it go old school I just havnt seen in it a long while... same with the programs tab. They took that out of 2.5
my advice... go to this thread and read about the add on and then add it. It adds SO much funtionality to sense it just makes the standard one look stupid
[Manila Mod][19-Jun-2010] Co0kie's Home Tab v1.8.5
then you'll need this to do the changes
[APP] CHTEditor v1.8.5.1 [UPDATE 19-JUN-2010]
note the screen shots in the links. You can have any number of layouts and "pages" that swipe up and down for different short cuts right on your home screen. Different clocks, notification bars etc etc.
Options for Start Menu Replacement WM 6.5
-Lock Screen: You should be able to locate lock config under Settings or Settings--->System (However, if you decide to use the aforementioned Cookie Home Tab Mod, the lock config is modified using Cookie Home Tab Editor under the Lock Screen menu.
-Start Menu: Try (utak3r's modified Quickmenu and Joe Wilcox's Awesome Start (not free but you may like to try these start menu replacements: Hilauncher and Panoramic Launchpad)
-Programs Tab: Check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=619253 and you will see that Cookies Home Tab is probably the way to go...

Wallpaper for Lock Screen and Start Screen

I have one basic question on wallpaper:
1) How can I change the wallpaper of Lock Screen and Start Menu screen?
I think it is "HTC Black.tsk" that take the role?
Do I need to replace the files inside the task (stwater_480_800.jpg and stwater_800_480.jpg)?
OR I need to have a new set of file for "HTC_stwater_x_x.jpg"?
But the issue is this will change the same image for both Lock Screen and Start Menu background ... Which I dont want.
If we see the default Lock Screen background and Start menu background they are actually different... so can we change them to different image?
Thanks.
Here is the script I use with oskitchen.
In the destlop wallpaper simply replace the file in the files folder and make sure the app.dat and the app.reg match your filename! You need to add all these registery keys to make it work!
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTc\Manila]
"Home.wallpaperMode"=dword:1
"HomeBackgroundPath"="\\My Documents\\My Wallpapers\\Background.png"
"DefaultHomeBackgroundPath"="\\My Documents\\My Wallpapers\\Background.png"
For the lockscreen / start menu I simply use an image and rename it to HTC_stwater_480_800.jpg then use an app.dat file to copy it into the windows directory eg: Directory("\windows"):-File("HTC_stwater_480_800.jpg","\Windows\HTC_stwater_480_800.jpg")
Both of these work a treat!
I have attached the two ext packages here!

There is no other way around this! Changing background will change your SM bkg and also lock screen...
Yes ai6908 is right. Both lock screen and start menu use the same wallpaper.
@GhostXSeries:
Thanks for your tip. For home screen it is working for me For Lock & Start Menu screen I was looking for and I wil use the HTC_stwater_x_y.jpg and see how that works
@ai6908:
Yes I know when I change the Lock screen image from settings I can see that the SM image also get changed to same file, but If I see the default build I see both are different so I was wondering If that possible from cooking .
Thanks.
You got an answer in your MUI thread, you might try that.

There are two different file names used but unfortunitly I cant remember what they are! I think that is also for wm builds only. If you use sense it overrides the two files and uses HTC_stwater_480_800.jpg instead. 480_800 is used on the HD2 as that is the sceen resolution. The filename might be slightly different on other devices.
