HTC Prophet's Regional Settings - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 General

After I installed an application to enable Thai language supported on my Dopod818pro called Thai-G. It will automatically set regional as Thai everytime I do soft reset. I prefer to use regional as US. Therefore, everytime I do soft reset, i have to go to setting >regional setting> and change from Thai to US.
I have tried looking in Thai-G manual but they didn't mention this.
Is there anyway to set regional permanently?
(This happens to all fw I used ie. official dopod fw, Pdamobiz 2.3 and 3.2)
Im currently using Pdamobiz 2.3 fw with 2.20 radio rom. It rocks !!
Thanks very much and apologize for any English errors

Acer F1 (NeoTouch S200) Change language

Hello,
I have this phone but have a problem- how to set English display language. I read in this forum - i must find a English rom... or... i am not shure. Can u help me?
/sorry for my english/
Thanks a lot
you can not change the language in windows mobile, you have to use an English ROM.
unfortunately, Acer has not yet released ROM updates, nor are there custom ROMs available yet. But check back the forum regularly, there is one in the making.
oh...
Just wait... right?
Can i install only English language? or... just update something?!?
you need to flash a different ROM, if you want a different language, period.
a device can only contain a single language a time, so you need to install a different Windows Mobile (in form of a ROM image). Why haven't you bought an English device to begin with?
I bought it from ebay. There is no information to display language.
Just one last question- can i install ROM from other model phone?
no.
you need one specific for the neoTouch S200.
Did you try to change regional settings (start, settings, system, regional settings). I always had an english device but this maybe will help you so you can read english.
What language do you have?
While waiting for an english rom, you may install/try SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 which works fine on S200 and choose enlish as your language. This will help you alot. At least you will use your mobile decent.
Freco, thanks !!!!
I will check SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 ... and will wait for rom.
You are the man!!! thank you again!!!
You can change language... but its a little bit tricky...
You need mui files for language you want eg 0415 are for polish language then change some registry entries...I've made polish language for TG01 and the only problem are settings from Toshiba(they don't use mui files ;/)

Ok... how to change registry entries and... i will try, but if you have more time to explain to me...
thanks
Hi All!
2 days ago i bought S200 and now i have the same problem
It`s french WM and it's .....aaaah no comment :/
I need english language (or polish)
I will try install SPB maybe it helps me for a few days...
But if someone will find english WM for s200 please share somewhere...
Now, I have s200_1.002c.00_fr
maybe some one can find s200_1.002c.00_en somewhere...
First You must know how to hard reset Your phone with button combination (messing with registry entries can lead to the hangups or make your system unbotable) second so far i know changing language on french/german TG01 to the English made system unbotable(that was Toshiba Keyboard SIP problem) and didn't translate much of the system... i didn't seen anywhere english mui files so easier would be to translate language to Your native using mui files from rom with close build number with one installed on Your phone
Hi everyone!
First of, as first time poster I'd like to say thankx to everyone who maintains this site and everyone who contributes with everything, from they're kitchen's best meals to any crazy ideas, I've been taking advantage of that for last month or so
But for this one I've found no answer, so here goes:
Yesterday I bought an Acer S200 F1 neoTouch yada yada yada...
I live in Portugal, so it comes with portuguese version of WM 6,5 which is horribly translated, making me, therefore, prefer the english version. I've never actually seen one of these with english version for sale here.
So I went around fishing for a way to change the language, I downloaded the official english version rom update from Acer's website, extracted it, replaced the ACER_EUU.exe with the cracked one, and it flashed smoothly.
However, EVERY SINGLE TIME I turn on the phone it hangs up, sometimes on the WM logo, sometimes during network search (shortly after WM is loaded I guess). Then it reboots all by itself, and then it works sort of ok.
I think I've described the process quite extensively, obviously, either I'm doing something wrong, or this method is not even supposed to work.
So I flashed the portuguese version back to the phone using the exact same method as described above, only not with english rom of course, and it is back to working as it should... in awful badly translated and cropped portuguese.
Should anyone know a way to get around the hang-ups I get with the english version, I'd be so grateful!
Cheers!
Why don't you try one of the Rafyvitto's roms. They are english and good looking.
Indeed. I'm using v2.7-vanilla, no crashes to date.
But I'm kind of obsessive, and rafyvitto's roms althought working much like they should, they have stuff built in which I think have no business being there. In this vanilla 2.7, as an example, title bar makes no sense as WM already has it's own way of doing the same (I think) I'm a noob to WM, so this might be a complete nonsense. Then there are bugs, such as the keyboard not showing/hiding properly during a call (I have to tap the button as if double clicking, and the button's description displays a wrong message ("hide" when it's hidden, "show" when it's being shown already) and sd-card encryption can't be turned off.....
Small things which make my day a little worst
Still, I appreciate rafyvitto's work, as the possibility of choice he provides us with is priceless =)
EDIT: as of the release of the new official rom's from acer (EUU_Acer_S200_3.003b.00_EN_03.03.08_3.003.01_20100119.zip) I am able to change the language from portuguese to english without the hangups I mentioned earlier!

are there mui files for every part of the os? like settings, programs, clock, messaging etc?
would it be possible to take the mui files from a german rom rename them from mui.0407 to 0409 install a new english rom and replace the mui files with the german renamed ones?
of course with a programm that allow replacing rom files like resco explorer or total commander?
if so maybe i even could get some german htc manila mui files from originial htc leo rom and rename and replace the ones of the acer s200 leo roms to have a part german rom ?

how to change the language

Morning, I recently purchased a touch2 from Jordan and everything was in English. Well the other day my son got a hold of the pohne and installed a application that turned almost everything to Arabic. Now, I have NO technical know how when it comes to phones. I keep hearing that i can go in the registry and change it back to english. Do any of you guys know how to do that?
Ps. I tried the hard reset numerous times and it's still in Arabic. Also, I need step by step instructions...Thanks

To change the language you have to do Hard Reset. After the first run and customize you have to restart the phone.
Then you can change the language.

Honestly - is this really possible? I thought changing the language on any windows mobile phone always needs to flash the ROM, and maybe even need to unlock in some way (hard spl or whatever)...
Basically, if I could really change the language to english, I might be thinking to buy two of those Touch2 here in taiwan for my GF and me... but I can't read chinese, so changing to english would be necessary.
On the other hand, with the ROMs I saw there was no traditional chinese version, just "WWE Asia"... this kinda sounds like there are more languages inside there... hmmm... lets see, I'm off to a HTC store to test this
Yoc can try to install Sunnysoft Interwrite to change a language.
If you chave Sunnysoft Interwrite try to change language in start/settings/system/sunnysoft interwrite.
In home page of this program you can select language without HR, only SR.

I know this is a very late answer within this thread, but yes, that's how it seems to work. For example, I have a Touch Diamond purchased in Slovakia, it is the WWE version. After the first power on, it made me pick between 6 languages: English, Slovak, Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Romanian. Once the language is picked, it will update all the system files, and you cannot change the language again.
But if you do a hard reset (like I did today) everything is wiped and the phone will boot just like it did the first time - going through all the initial configuration, etc. And it will allow you to select the OS language again.
Now, I don't know what languages may be included with phones sold in Asia. Above is just to give you an idea how the localization stuff worked on my Diamond.

By the way, no, there is no way to change the language with WWE ASIA or also the traditional chinese HK version. You can hard reset as often as you want, no menu pops up.
So I guess that's a special feature of some select ROMs, like the one for the mentioned middle/east european languages.
But now with HardSPL we can at least flash all ROMs that are available, so I got my Touch2 from the store in Taiwan already flashed with WWE and HardSPL. Now I changed to WWE ASIA and that's pretty good already
In a nutshell: Changing languages (with a few exceptions) requires HardSPL and flashing a ROM.
There is no way on ASIA ROM cause its basicly not WWE, but Asia ROM. HTC has many ROMs with specific language in them.

You are fully correct....changing language is for a selected number of Rom's. Since quite some people (incl myself) like this idea have asked some Rom cookers to built this feature as standard eg. have dual language options. Sofar unfortunately no reaction.....
So I think basically it is possible but not available. If more people ask for it.....it will happen someday either via HTC or XDA.

Multilingual - DE - IT - FR Swiss Email Problem

Dear All,
I've bought the HTC HD Mini few days ago and can't get email reply/new messages working on a fresh Multilingual Swiss French install. Once I click reply/new message nothing happens...
Tried several times hard reset but still nothing. I have tried to install the Swiss German version a it work like a charm.
I'm very new to WM and HTC products and I'm very frustrated not being able to write and reply to my mails.
Please could someone help me to get this working.
Best Regards,
Roma
NB: I get a folder "Mail-Anlagen" which seems to be wrong
In fact, I cannot realy help you, because I have exacly the same issue.
I opened a tread by HTC, but without any success.
In fact, they respond to me that I have to phone directly to the EU support.
The probem is that I broke my phone and I am waiting its return.
Hi all,
Do some one has a French mini ?
Could some one give us the FRENCH name of the "mail-anlagen" folder on SD card ?
I suppose that renaming this folder in FRENCH it will work, but still yet no one gave me this name.
HELP required !
Hi. I have the same problem with a HD mini multilingual GER FRE ITA.
I could perform some tests, the problem appears only when you install it in Italian or French. Installing it in German it works fine.
I opened a ticket by HTC, they answered that they are aware of the problem and they are already working for a solution. I hope there will be a patch downloadable from the support site ASAP.
Many thanks for your feed back.
In fact, I suppose the french and italian version to create a wrong folder "mail-Anlage" on SD card. Perhaps if some one could be able to give me the right folder name in French, I could try to work aroud this issue.
I looked for the name in my old Windows Mobile 5.0 device and I tried to rename that folder, but no luck.
Perhaps it has been changed in Win Mobile 6.5...
I'll wait for an official answer by HTC.
I have the same problem with Persian Language!
Damned !
Hoping it resolves this issue I tryed to update the ROM to the last official one 1.36...
I used my S/N in order to download the right version.
After I installed the new ROM... I discover that only GERMAN was aviable no more french or italian version !
I asked help to HTC... no answer !
I took the decision to flash the French orginal ROM... It was not simple but actually I am very happy and the mail works perfectly.

AFAIK you have to flash a new ROM for this.
@montpoisy
No, normally, with the original multilingual version 1.07.xxx you have only to hard reset the phone. At startup, it will ask for the language. But this version has a bug with email, if you don't use it ok, elsewhere you will have to install the new 1.36 ROM.
If you download the new version from HTC with your serial #, you will receive a german version only. After that you have to contact the HTC support, they will provide an add on for multilanguage, and all works ok.
Another option is to install the original french version 1.36.xxx as explained somewhere in this forum.
hope it helps

Thanks for information, never heard that before.
Thank you Moscard,
The hard reset did not regulate the probleme.
I'll try to replace my ROM by the last ROM french but i want be sure. Is Tom Photon V1.2 Buid 24622 the good version to flash my ROM
Ok, you probably have an original German version. If you had a multingual version is writen on the case with a red label (FRANCAIS / ITALIANO / DEUTSCH). It seems this version is only provided in Switzerland. If you realy own an original mutiligual version the hard reset reinstall all the soft, operators and ask for language at the first startup only.
Remark : For hard reset, after turing off the phone (power for a while) you have to push Volume + and Volume - buttons in the same time at statup (power).
You have two options
1) Official with maintaining the warranty
- Download and install officilal ROM from HTC with serial #. You will receive a German version 1.36.xxx. Don't panic it is all under control
- Ask to HTC suport the addon for multiligual, or download it here :
http://htc-touch-diamond.forumactif...ible-d-envoyer-un-e-mail-t19587-30.htm#260771
On this forum, you will find a lot of information about your issue as well
2) Install the original French ROM
See some explanation here:
http://htc-touch-diamond.forumactif...ible-d-envoyer-un-e-mail-t19587-15.htm#258164
EDIT
You will find ROM here : http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Photon/
You normally need FRA 1.36.xxx

Change the region settings of HD2

Hi people, I have just purchased an HD2 Vodafone Spain, and I wanted to know if it is possible (just as in the Xperia X2), to change the region settings, in order to be able to flash a different language ROM, through the official HTC program?
I know that if I want to use custom ROMs, I need to hard_spl first, and then choose one, to flash, BUT if I want to use an official lets say Portuguese language ROM, can I do it without the spl, just changing the region settings of the phone and let HTC software do the rest?
Thank you all for your help.

[Q] X2 english 6.5.3 display chinese

i try to install cestar / some cab for my X2 , but it hang at reboot/can't use touch screen.
Can anyone tell me , how to display & input chinese at X2 (english 6.5.3)
i just download the X2 TW rom.
can i use TW rom @my english machine?
which software for update(flash) the rom?
thx a lot
Traditional Chinese display on Xperia x2
Hi there, I have just successfully changed my default language to Traditional Chinese on X2. It turns out that you do not need to download a taiwan version of the rom by yourself. Like you, I have tried every cab file or ce star suite and none of them works on the MR2 update.
However, there is one thing that works.
I have discovered that you need to first of all obtain the file posted in this thread for TW:"[100% Working] Changing the default language of Xperia X2 - takes you 5 minutes."
Then uninstall the update service on your PC completely and download a new one from the sony ericsson Taiwan website.
After installing the newly downloaded update service, just follow the steps posted in the first thread and you should get the update service downloading an update file which is of the size of 134mb, bigger than the English version of 128MB for MR2 update.
This works even if you have already updated to the English version of MR2 as I did.
Hope it helps. It worked on mine and it should work on yours as well.

guys... I just upgraded to the mr2 and had the problem when I installed CE star. that is when i found out that Ce star is not compatible with mr2. One clarification request on this post, when you get the upgrade software from the sony ericcson taiwan website and get chinese language support with the update....does it give you option of keeping english as the default language?. I am looking for chinese language support so that the chinese messages to me dont appear as blocks.
Does this taiwan s/w default language chinese change the whole phone language to chinese? Or it only support chinese display and the menu still in english?????
it will install a chinese Version of WM6.5.3 to your phone, so most of the things will be in Chinese, and most software will read your phone as chinese phone and switch to Chinese by default, it is a bit annoying, but that is the best we can do with X2 now... It is sad that HK has dropped X2 from its product lineup because usually HK would offer a rom that is ENG based while supporting Chinese read/input... If you opt to install SPB after stripping your phone then you can still change the default language in SPB and that will show most of stuff in English, by still all marketplace, google map, will still show everything in Chinese...
have a look on the cabs i made, maybe they will meet your needs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=854792
Get Sunglobe Simplified Chinese Fonts for reading Simplified Chinese text and PlumSip for Chinese text input. It worked for X2 with MR2. Hope this helps.
