Hi!
I have to develop an application for the XDA II. The application has to take a picture and then make an image processing algorithm. The problem is that I don't know how to access to the camera functions.
Does anybody know how to make it?
Thank you
Jon
this info is not yet available :-(

Hi,
Has anyone had any luck with writing Midlets for the XDA2? I'm trying to write one use the camera as a webcam (Yes, I know, a bit ambitious for my secomd midlet!)
I'm using this line:
Code:
Player vPlayer = Manager.createPlayer("capture://video");
I get a MediaException, meaning '...a Player cannot be created for the given locator.' (quoted from MMAPI JavaDoc).
Also, calling the Manager.getSupportedProtocols() method for 'mpeg/video' returns an empty list, as does calling Manager.getSupportedContentTypes() for 'capture://video'.
Has anyone else managed to access the XDA2 camera from a Midlet? If so, what is the trick?!!
cheers
Paul
I don't think anybody's managed to get access to it from native eVC++ let alone midlets, and IA style aren't revealing anything about how their app does it, so I wouldn't hold your breath for a solution... Bloody closed APIs.
Knackers!!
Cheers anyway! I'll keep poking and see what happens....
Paul
i suspect that their applications take pretty much control direct without using the winCE api
because when i start the cam my clock which it still display stop being 24h and turn to the AM/PM confusement
Can anyone tell me if there is alternative software available for taking pictures (not video) with the XDA2.
I have been unable to configure the existing software from IA Style to disable the video functions and hence am looking for alternative program which only takes picture format.
Anyone got any ideas.
Help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Hi !!
Has anyone seen or heard of an application that lets one access the built-in camera via wlan ? I'm thinking of using my phone as a security cam ...
Thanks !!
More Camera Function for your buck
Any programmers out there? Gurus, god like creatures, avatars, superheros, and supreme beings..... PLEASE can any of you develop a program to allow us to get more functionality out of the camera:
1. As indicated, as a security camera
2. Instant Messenger or alternative instant chat by camera over WIFI rather than needing a video call
3. Perhaps even, maybe possibly, enable the camera flashlight also.....
4. Remote control operation from PC
5. Remote control operation over the web!!
I'll tip in some bucks for it and I am sure given the number of forums on this, that others will also.
Alas, mine is the JJ rather than wizard, but I think many and all would like some additional apps and functions out of the cameras.
www.comvu.com ComVu PocketCaster...
Try this one, it works very well

I have been looking for hours on either software or a hack to make the camera(video) stay on when I am on the main screen. In essence have the video record in the background. I have a lot of memory and like to use the video camera for recording conversions and classes, but I would like to be able to have the camera stay on while in other areas of the phone. The camera program will run in the background but it shuts off the record ing once I leave it. Is there software or better yet a registry hack to make it continue recording? I have been searching with no luck. There has to be others out there that want to record without somebody picking up the phone and knowing you are, or simply use other features of the phone while recording.
TY
anyone?
would just like to toss in my +1 for this, i've often wanted to record a lecture, then want to access some information from the Notes on my device.
Me too.. I wanna take videos and make it look like Im just reading a Word file or something.
What about 3rd party software like coolcam?

I know this is a prehistoric thread that I am bumping (almost three years worth) yet this problem is very irritatingly present on my HD2.
THe builtin camera app won't record in background, settings hkcu\software\htc\camera\deactivate to 0 won't change anything, and same doies changing all the relevant values in the registry altogether.
I tried coolcamera, it has a very spartan interface unusable with a purely touchscreen device, I had to popup LMT's controller to navigate and start recording, but when I did the app didn't work anymore.
So my question is the same, is there currently a background video recording app out there? Seems to absurd to me there isn't, and I can't keep my screen always on while recording video from my car windshield; either that or I'd prefer having recording in background while I navigate with GPS...

that's about another "camera in background" issue
Anyway, that regards the diamond, another user said he could use camera in background on his tp2, while there is not current solution for the hd2
Someone with solution for hd2 ?
