I download Smaato News and when I did I lost the blue Windows Logo Screen on boot-up. It now is a blank white screen before loading my theme. How can I get the Blue Windows Logo back? Is there something I need to do in the registry? I have the T-Mobile MDA (USA)
Same thing happened when I installed pRSSReader. I've never found a solution to it, the image for the splashscreen is still in the windows dir.
Search for "splash screens". It's just the welcomehead.96.png file in \windows\

Hi,
I'm working for Smaato and we never experienced that problem before. Maybe it's some interaction with the T-mobile branding software on the device. We will try to reproduce this with our developers and come back to you.

Hmm, i have this logo in my windows folder, but it never pops up on start... actually i use preowned one, which came with tmobile splash, then i changed it to my own logo, then got surprised if remainded after hard reset, and one more time got really stunned when i heard that actually there are 2 splash screens... how is it in the end? 2 splash screens, then windows logo? if so, why does mine show only one screen? (i used awizard to change splash, but it just changed it - before and now i used to have just one logo screen)... silly but annoying, i'd like to know the answer ;]] thanks alot;]
Same thing with me. I am not sure what caused it. But from last few weeks I am having the same issue. Somehow my splash screen(windows welcome) is skipped while restarting. Any clue?
FYI- I am using pssReader too.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks -nbhor
I guess I found the trick.
Simple just get rid of the pssReader and your splash screen is back. Worked for me.
Thanks -nbhor

Hi everyone,
For some reason anytime i install pRSSReader it will mess up my second splash screen (the Windows Mobile blue one) to white! If i remove pRSSReader and restart its all back to normal and i get the T-Mobile splash and the Windows Mobile one...but as soon as pRSSReader goes back on it goes white again!
Are there any other decent RSS readers out there that can display items on the today screen? Or is there a fix for this? I searched the forums and found a post in the Wizard section from somebody with a similar problem but it looks as though it didn't get solved...
Aha, it's because of pRSSReader...
I also had this problem, but I installed a lot of apps at the same time from my desktop. I didn't really bother which program did it. I'm not looking at my screen when booting...
Unfortunately im a fussy bugger and i like my Windows Mobile splash screen!
Any other RSS readers you know of than can display on the today screen?
Egress is one.
http://garishkernels.net/egress.shtml
I used it for some time, but I found pRSSReader better for me.
There are a lot of RSS readers out there, and a lot of them have a today plugin.
Good luck with your search!
If you see a good one, post it please!
I have the same problem, but have decided to live with the white 2nd boot screen.
According to the prssreader developer website, this is a known issue and will be addressed in the next release - 1.3.3.
http://pda.jasnapaka.com/prssr/releases/1.3.2.php
The problem is that pRSSReader overwrites \windows\zlib.dll. I've patched my exe file and renamed the dll, and still use pRSSReader and see windows logo at bootup. BTW I'm not sure that bootup is the only problem caused by the dll overwriting.
But, as it was said, the author is aware of the problem and it should be resolved quite soon.
Its the same issue on an Ipaq
I have the same issue.
Does the author release versions that correct these issues?.
I installed batti first and it made the left key unusable with the "contacts" option changing to "notification" if the battery icon was shown on top.
I hope these issues gets fixed, both the pRssReader and batti being great progs.

You'd better try the 1.3.3 version, either release (if it is) or the latest beta.
Hey i have a Cingular 8125 running faria's 3.3 WM5 and its a G4 device thats unlocked via request unlocked code from cingular. I wanna change the cingular splash screen. How do I go about doing this and what are some cool splash screens?
I have 2 splash screens... when the phone initially boots up it has the cingular logo. right after that its the WM6 style Faria 3.3 splash
If you want to change your splash screens then check out this post:

Has all the steps and the tools you need to do this, and the process is very easy.
As for splash screens themselves, you'll just have to look around. I've got a number of them I've downloaded from various places. I just found a topic in the Hermes area this morning where they are doing a splash screen contest for a WM6 ROM called Black. Some of the screens are very cool (intended for the theme of the Black ROM), but then they get very graphic in that topic (you may not want to be reading that topic on your screen if your boss or co-worker walks in on you). There is 47 pages currently in the topic but I snagged a number of screens from the first 10 or so pages (before it went to very sexual screens that I have no interest in for a phone I use in business).

BTW: there are actually 3 splash screens. If I remember correctly Cingular uses the same Cingular logo one for the first two screens (so only appears as one screen). The first screen is only up for a few seconds, and then the second splash screen is the one where the IPL/SPL and other numbers appear in the upper left. The 3rd splash screen is really just a .png file in your WIndows folder (so that one is changed easily).

What do you mean by bricked? Take your battery out and leave it out for 5 mins. Then put it back in and turn the power on while holding down the camera key. DO you get to the bootloader ("rainbow") screen?
Also when you did the steps did you verify that the file sizes were all correct just like the guide says? The guide is clear that you can't have too elaborate of an image or the filesize will be too big (which could cause a brick).

No problem. Just trying to figure out if its really bricked or if its just not able to boot (two very different things).
If you haven't seen it, look at this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613
It has steps to get into the bootloader and flashing back to an official rom or the Wizard Love rom. Has G4 specific information and links to the roms and stuff.
Hi folks! Been Browsing your pages a lot these days and I like your stuff. SO I thought I'd sign up and give something back to you: A custom startup animation for the X1. Put the file into Windows folder (overwriting the original) and there you go. Warning: You cannot do this over ActiveSync! I'm not sure if it works with the built-in file explorer, I did it with RESCO Explorer, works fine after confirmation. Make sure you have a backup copy of the original file somewhere. I'd be glad to hear some comments Tell me if you like it or not and WHY. If you don't have any idea what this is gonna do: It will change the animation right after the Sony Ericsson logo when you power it up. Sony Ericsson logo before and Windows logo after remain untouched.
EDIT: Just found out that I have to ZIP the file... Otherwise it becomes JPG. So Download, Unzip, and THEN copy.
Well I kinda made one too. Just for fun.
If the startup animation doesn't show up, download the ALLOWANIM.ZIP file, extract and merge the registry settings in your x1.
Credits to foxcheng.

Nice idea to refer to the startup logo
And another attempt by me, this one's a little bit more exciting and I've stolen your idea about fading the logo PSD this time included.
The animation goes like:
Fade out SE logo
Show "Sony Ericsson" text with a shiny animation
Fade in white glowing "X1"
Fade out glowing "X1"
Hope you like it, haven't tested it yet on my X1.
There's been many downloads already, please post some feedback!

PS: Is anyone even liking our efforts or is this a huge waste of everyone's time? Let us know...

@ DeeChan: How come you don't like the big X1? Cuz it's X1 or because of the design?
good idea to start this thread!
here is my art, hope you'll like it
.jpg is a preview
Cool! But I would prefer it if the "Powered by Windows Mobile" etc were present all the time, and the animaiton could be more smooth (Though I'm sure you've invested quite a bit of time into this... Respect!).
i like the start up logo with the paper plane...Genius
But it doesnt let me replace the original file using the in built Phone file explore.
Wot else can i use besides resco??
to Firefall!
I'll create Art 1.1 pic tomorrow, there is too much work now.
to indy.89
try to use Total Commander. but Resco is the best
glad to see you liked my work guys. thnx a lot!
my x1 only has SEMC2904.bmp in windows folder, im using resco.
so tried to change name of SEMC1904.gif to it and says cant overwrite because its part of rom.
what am i missing ? please help

Search button? LOL
Sigh: neways 1904 is the animation, and part of rom but it won't do anything but play at the boot so safe to replace from rom.
The 2904 is part of the static splash screen with the big green SE logo. Replacing it won't damage anything. Safe to replace.
If you want bootscreen change, just replace welcomehead.192.png, again safe to change Have fun.

So sexy! Now one last thing: I'd make it stop some time once the I SE live is there, a still picture for say 1 sec. Otherwise it will directly go away during boot. Nice work! What apps did you use?
Thank you ))
I've used Photoshop and then Gif Animator
Here is the source files (PSD and UGA).
still cant get this to work, ive searched
can someone help me please, what to do
can we change the boot screen to an animated gif somehow?
I've tried some of the cabs on this site and other sites with no luck. I've tried putting animated.gif into the windows folder with no luck.
am I missing something?
i was able to do it
but i forgot how
i think directly in the registry i'm guessing (search for welcomehead)
i'm talking about two secondary splash screens (like in advanced config)
to change the first two splashes i've used the bootsplash kitchen
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanBootsplashTutorial
but the .nb image creator doesn't support .gif files as best i can tell
sweet!!! good link gonna try this next weekend!!
too bad it does a hard reset. Gif's are listed as working so they should work (as they are the only ones that 'move'.)
its not supposed to cause a hard reset...
i used the kitchen within the last week and the first time it worked
the last time caused a hard...
i also tried animated gif and it didn't work
only non-animated for the first two....at least using this tool...
never actually seen an animated gif on the first two before...so
(i think the successful bootsplash was by using the sd card instead of the ruu)
make sure you put your (both secondary) splash images in windows directory...
helps with load time...and delay settings...
still not 100% that entering the gif in the registry is working...but i think it will
been resetting my device for a couple hours straight trying to get all the settings right...
i'll post up what results i think i figure out...lol
I used the sd card and it works to change the picture on the first and second images of the boot sequence. But no animation thus far
I've looking ever since I tried one of Ryan's light 6.5 roms. He had an animated lightning strike a tree, and it looked pretty dope!!! I think I might track him down...........
There is a utility in the PPC Kitchen that allows us to add animation to one of the start up screens. I added the Windows Vista logo with a meter below it. Works fine for a couple of seconds till the meter freezes.
whoever is cooking the roms for you must tell it NOT to skip the animation. then you can change the animation.

im not sure if this would help but i think that there was a change icon application, in the options menu i think it said bonus and when i taped it it let me change the boot screen i used the windows phone 7 gif and the windows phone png along with the vista boot sound
hope this helps if i can remember the app i will tell you but it would be better if you searched in the xda engine
OK, I've been searching everywhere, and coming up empty. I'm looking for the original HTC OEM boot screen that just says "HTC Touch Pro 2" or maybe "Touch Pro 2". All black background, white text. I flashed a ROM a while back and I have had its boot screen since. I don't want to have to flash an entire OEM ROM just to get it, but I will if necessary. Hoping that someone has it lying around. Thanks in advance!
Why use oem?
There are ways to change that screen to whatev you want

but if u want the oem image, im sure u can google it and use that as the .nb

try this, I got it from the Windows Mobile site.
I have a question I am finding hard to get an answer to.
There are essentially 4 boot screens on a TP 2.
The first and second (I don't think can be separated on a TP 2) Is the above splash screen with the red text, radio, etc that comes on after about 10 seconds.
Third is the Animated screen.
I can change those screens.
The 4th is ANOTHER screen that shows the ROM (at least, on my NRG MaxSense ROM).
The 4th is the one I can't find how to change.
Anyone have a link?
In the meantime, I am still searching, and if I find out, I will come back with a link.

I'm pretty sure that the screen you mention is part of the actual ROM flash. I think it's a file though that you can modify once the ROM is installed. Welcomehead possibly..?

On my Tilt 2, the last screen is simply a png called well.png.
I created an image and installed it, now all my start up and shutdown screens are custom.
Nice!
