I must give support , but users install third party software.
That give to many problems.
How to block software installation on Qtek 2020i.
Change a Registry key maybe ?(no third party tweak software please)
Any solutions are welcome.
THX for your advise
Try disabling registry associations for .cab files, and/or spoof the wceload.exe app.

I want to uninstall some of the default software such as IA Caller ID and Photo Contacts, and the Westtek Viewers (which are shockingly bad). There is no option, however, in the "Remove Programs" dialogue. What's the best way, therefore, to remove the offending programs?
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=ER2003Edit
The links don't work
I did it so...
There is no way(i suppose) to uninstall them but...!
Follow this few steps(only if you want to do a hard-reset).
- Hard-Reset your device after necessary back-up
- Wait(Don't enter the PIN code at this time)for the auto-install countdown message
- At this moment do a soft-reset. The auto-install procedure will not be done and all the software from Ext.ROM will not be installed.
- You get now an empty device without any modifications from your operator
- Unhide the Ext.ROM with unlocking tools(available for download somewhere at this site-it is a *.cab file for install to your device).
- Install that cabs from the Ext.ROM which you need(such as Camera,MMS etc.).
If you want, you can cook your own Extended ROM with your favorite applications with the ER2003 tool.
Hi everybody, wonder if someone can help me.
I have both a K-Jam (just received and love it) and a JASJAR (love 3G and VGA Screen, hate it's slowness, big time, k-jam is by far faster and therefore usable).
I've installed the same app's on both machines. Doing this I've noticed that on the JASJAR it just installs them with no problems, on the K-Jam everytime I install an app, it first asks me if I really want to install it since it does not have a recognised certificate (or something like that). I always say yes and the app install (and work correctly... aside from one, see below).
However, amongst the app's installed is Resco Explorer, together with the Resco Registry Editor app. When I try and start up the Reg App, i get a message that says that "the file ':RRegistry' cannot be opened. Either it's not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. You might need to reinstall this file". Well, I did try reinstalling it and the same problem persist (BTW Resco Explorer and its other plug-ins work correctly). I therefore assume it's got because of this "certificate" problem I mentioned above.
Is anyone else getting this message on installations and is anyone else having problems with Resco Registry Editor? If yes, has anyone found a solution to fix this problem (i.e. being able to use the reg editor app)?? Please help me... i really want/need to be able to modify the registry on the K-Jam.... Thanks in advance
you you install the new version on the website the wm2005 version all work fine, i have the same problem with the 2003 version of it. but works fine now
i do get the message when i install programs,
i have installed & used both resco explorer & reg edit without any problems?
they both work fine for me (used reg edit for tomtom nav 5)
Resco Registry
I have the same problem. My version of Resco Explorer is v5.35, which is the latest.
It was working fine before I updated my Dopod 818 pro ROM.
Any insight?
Thanks.
Same problem here with my Universal... Any help ?
Is possible to group several cabs in one cab?
I want it to save in the Extended Rom of my TyTn, so that when I do a HardReset, automatic it starts to install all the modifications of registry and some programs that I have in several cabs from the pocket, without need of pc.
I search on the forum, but I don´t find any solution.
Thanks
Well first off, if you use the autorun.exe that already exists in the extended ROM and modify its configuration file (the name may be different for different devices, but it is usually a plain text file) you can get it to install several cabs in sequence.
Combining cabs is not always possible unless you are the one who created them in the first place.
Get a program called CE Cab Manager. It will show you everything that a given cab includes and let you edit it. As long as it's just files and registry settings there is no problem stuffing them all in one cab.
But if a two cabs contain a setup.dll there is no way of combining them without knowing exactly what that DLL does (it could be anything) and thats almost impossible (unless you can read ARM assembler well).

what levenum said is correct... so the best thing for you to do is to edit the config.txt file in your extended rom to have them install... HOWEVER if the cabs you are using arent digitally signed then they wont install using that method, you would need to disable the security first... Since no one has a signed disable security cab that works with the tytn the only option would be to do this on a hard reset; soft reset before the customization, when it boots run the tweak program to disable security, then go to the windows directory and manually launch the preautoconfig.exe
software alternatives
tristan1412, you can also use a software dedicated to this task.
check spb airsetup (www.spbsoftwarehouse.com, i'm not sure if it allows more then one cab), or even better airwizard (http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=airwizard)
the advantage of these programs is in my opinion the compression. then you also get several options like readme/eula (with airwizard you have spash image support and even sd card output support - that creates autorun content for the sdcard)
hope this helps

First of all, thanks for the answers.
now, How can signed digitally my own cabs??
I have received a .cab file patch (self extract) to install it directly into the ppc device, but I am getting regularly the following message: Installation was unsuccessful, the program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permission. I have tried every possible solution on the web without success. Has anybody experienced such an issue? or is there a way to delete every possible security or protection key in the file.
Any help is highly appreciated, thanks
Can you upload the .cab?
Your problem is not with the cab. Your device is application locked so only cabs that are signed by a trusted certificate can alter system settings.
If you look in the WiKi or at least tell us what phone you have we might tell you how to unlock it so you can install your cab.
I have an eten M700 with WW6 onboard, and the file that I want to install is BT.CAB patch. Since the upgrade to WW6 every file issued by e-ten corp has to passe through security certificate check. Now I do believe that you are right about the fact that this the device is application locked .
So, how can I unlock this device to be able to install .cab files? Any help please, I need this file.
Thanks for help
Did you try installing this cap directly after a softreset? Could be that some process is running that should be used by the CAB. I had exactly the same message when I was trying to install a comm manger while the old comm manager was running.
Yes I did, I have tried every possible solutions such as Hard reset, Soft reset, installed without any soft running on the background. It is a strange issue, I' ve this file from eten corp support in order to help me with the upgrade of the MS BT stack. The ww6 that I have on board is legall with imei and a key code, Any other sollution such as hacking the .cab file? thanks for assistance
I'm trying to run an especific application made with VB in WM5. Although many statememts that this is not possible and that we have to migrate the code to .net, I managedto make it run. After installation however, no new programs are allowed to install. Can you help me founding the root of this issue? Is important to me to learn about the origin of this incompatibility.
I guess you mean evb programs (scripts)... i think its that after uninstalling them there is a problem with the files with .vb extension and that can be solved when creating the distributable cab changing the regkeys that are modified (its a value wich is changed from 0 to 1 but I can´t recall)... i guess the solutions is explainde in omnisoft forums, also there is the explanation to register additional components to evb... well, it has a long time since i try it... also it works with wm6...
Thank you for your answer. The problem was different.
A specific app Called Diagnosis Pro ( Very Expensive one) refused to install in my WM5 and WM6 devices. It only worked at PPC2002 and WM2003 and 2003/SE devices. Now I managed to install it in My WM4 and 6 devices after changing the dlls that was in the cab file. It's working Ok now.
It's Ok!
