Trinity and Blackberry Connect - P3600 General

Hello,
Can I use the Trinity as a Blackberry like I´m doing it right now with the HTC TyTn? Can i use the same Software (Blackberry Connect) as the TyTn?
Thanks for any help!
Best Regards
Giovanni

I installed the BBConnect client on my Trinity but it doesn't work.
The PIN remains in "pending" state.
I'm on TIM network, the SIM works fine on a blackberry handset.

I installed the BB connect for the tytn on my Trinity everything installed fine but for some reason it connects for 3 sec and then disconnects it also doesn't register on the network even though i was able to generate a pin... the i.p adress is shown for 3 sec and then dissapears. i have been trying to find a solution for the past week but no success... i hope somone has the answer.

Sirs,
any news about trinity and blackberry connect?
anyone is experiencing a success?
please let me know
j

....
Hi all,
I'ma trying the same, installing in may HTCP3600 the service does not start and remains stopped.
Anyone one could get it?
Best Regards

HI i am using bbconnect on my trinity and it works fine first you have to get the program from dopod (will try to have link) ...i remember someone posted it here.... it is different program from the bbconnect for the tytn.
you have to log on to your blackberry account and try changing handhelds if it doesnt work than you have to ask your operator to cancell your previous account (if you have it on the tytn) and then reactivate it again with trinity bieng your first mobile to register. and it should work fine

dear all,
I was unable to download the file from rapidshare for unknown reason it's continuing say me that I have exceed the download limit, but I have not download anything from that site by months.
Could some one send me the mentioned file in another way?
may you please explain how can I get a bb account? If I remember right during the registration process it ask you insert (bb) IMEI and PIN, what information I have to insert?
thank you very much
j

For rapid share
Click the free button and wait for the specified time. (use refresh button)
or pay the premium price
First you have to get a bb account from your telecom provider. Then install the bbconnect program.
once installed click on the calender sync. Then click the utility icon and press the regestration button.
The regestration button should automatically detect your pin and imei plus your ip adress.( you should recieve conformation of the registration) and you are all set to go.
you can get the pin and imei through a program called bbconnect desktop tool for manual installation.

Thanks Almulatham!!

Hi Again,
I've try the soft but although the service is started, is no connected, my main problem is that i'm not able to configure my enterprise mail settings because in tab utility "Email Setup" option is in grey.
I suppose that if I would have BB Desktop manager for pocket PC software it could be easy to set up.
We also have tried to do it in our BES Server but is impossible to assign a PIN CODE to a user or edit the actual PIN CODE.
any ideas???
Thanks in advance....

I need...
Hi,
To finish configuration of my BBConnect Soft in my HTC I need this:
BlackBerry® Connect™ Desktop Tool (For BES users) It colud be downloaded if I had a user/pass but I have not
Someone colud send me?
Thanks A LOT!!!!

Dear Almulatham,
thank you very much for your valuable info.
I've downloaded the software, installed it on trinity, create the blackberry account, and added the e.mail address I need to be syncronised.
It created a sort of folder named systema where I received a message with subject "Registrazione" and containing "Il palmare è stato registrato tramite la rete wireless".
And now??????
my internet connection is on but I'm not receiving any message.
Could you please explain me what I've to do.
thank you very much

HI regarding the BES server i am not sure what to do as i am using the individual account... and not sure how it works...but if you had registered a previous avvount you might have to delete it first and reregester again.... i will put the link containing the bbconect desktop utility that will help create the imei and the pin....
http://rapidshare.com/files/23986631/ActiveSync_BBConnect_Desktop_Setup_2.1.1.21.exe.html
To jus_mi i am not sure what the language was but from what i understood is you got a file called system and you got a message saying regestration.
that means you have registered on the network and your phone is ready for use. you have to go to bbconnect --utility --email setup.... that will close your bb connection and open internet explorer on gprs. from there you have to register as a new member , once registered you can add your email adress and start recieving emails instantly.

thank you Almulatham,
I found the problem, but needed for your kindly help for the solution.
In the utility window the field configure email accont is grey and not cliccable.
any suggestion?
thanks a lot

Almulatham thanks again,
I'll test it tomorrow.
Bye.

Hi regarding the grey email setup... you have to first register on the network first (register now icon) you should get a registration confirmation on your message files.
once you have the confirmation you can use the email setup function. Once the email is setup you should get another confirmation for the same.
To make sure you are conected in the STATUS icon on bbconnect you should get network available or connected. And on the IDENTITY icon you should get the pin# + IMEI# + IPadress.
I think it is important that if you had a pervious handheld with bbconnect that you have to delete your previous account and reactivate a new one then you can register... because i personnally couldn't change my bbconect from tytn to trinity until i did the above.

If you get signed up for BB service on cingular, you no longer can use 3g, is that right?

i am not sure how it is on cingular but i am using both 3g and blackberry connect... i think blackberry uses a special gprs connection that is different that the regural gprs and i think it has nothing to do with 3g network.

WAP and Yahoo!

On a PC, you can go to http://wap.oa.yahoo.com, and login to your yahoo account to read your emails, etc.
If I do the same from my XDA2, it says "Unable to connect: Ensure that your modems are present and inserted correctly, and no network card present".
If I try this with any other web site (e.g. http://www.bbc.co.uk) it connects and works fine.
Does anyone else get this, and does anyone know a way around it?
Thanks!
On my XDA, http://wap.oa.yahoo.com works fine.
But WAP stinks on a capable device like the XDA or XDAII. Why not use http://www.yahoo.com instead, or set up your Inbox to download your Yahoo headers and/or messages?
can i realy do that?? setup INBOX for yahoooo???
please show me how! i couldnt even set the outlook express on PC to do that!
thanks a million.

You can only do this if you pay extra for POP3 access to Yahoo emails - which I don't want to do as this isn't my primary email account.
Also, going through http://www.yahoo.com means you get all the ads, graphics, etc. Even over a GPRS line, this makes it quite painfull.

I just got a new XDA II and I could access Yahoo without problems. After an involutary hard reset all the O2 stuff got installed (seems it was not installed the first time I used the device), and now I'm having the same problem as you're describing. Has O2 added something "clever" so that if it sees "wap" in the path, it thinks it should use a wap connection? In any case I can't find these settings and delete it. I want it to work as it did before the hard reset! Help!
Try wsp://wap.oa.yahoo.com insted of http://wap.oa.yahoo.com
HTTP = PC
WSP = WAP
8)
cheers
WSP doesn't work either. Probably because that signals even more to the computer that you're trying to establish a WAP connection, which I don't want to do and which isn't set up either. The funny thing is that it worked before the hard reset, and I never had any problems on my old XDA I.
I managed to remove all the O2 stuff from the extended ROM, and after a hard reset, I can now access http://mobile.yahoo.com/mail again! Once you access http://mobile.yahoo.com/mail, the path changes to http://wap.oa... and from this point on it complained. Until I removed the O2 stuff. So now I'm happy it works, but I'd still like to know what settings O2 infiltrated to stop it from working. Does anyone have a clue?

I think it have something to do with Connection settings and or Registery settings for Browser ID string (User ID String)
example:
Of youre browser ID is "Mozilla/4.0(compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320)" Than you w'll get a diffrent page if you have something else.
After I changed my Browser ID (to see more free stuff from orange GRPS/Orange World) I cant get the colored page of Yahoo Too.
Can you post here youre Browser ID please?
To see youre browser ID string, Visit http://www.showip.com on youre PPC, and let me know please.
Cheers
I just bought an XDA2i and am having the same problem with the mobile Yahoo site. Since nobody has managed to unlock the extended ROM in XDA2i yet , I cannot remove the O2 stuff that is causing the problem (forcing a different connection for web adresses starting with "wap"). On my XDA2 i could unlock the extended ROM and remove the O2 bits, and this solved the problem. With XDA2i I'm stuck...

Blackberry configuration

here are two files to configure blackberry for microsoft exchange and lotus notes including pdf file with instructions
tried to set this up before and drew a blank big time entered the info as it requested pin and imei but it kept saying i was a registerd user ,spoke to a decent bloke at 02 got to speak to him 2mora see if blackberry can reset my account even thou ive never used it strange anyone manage to get an account set up at www.o2email.co.uk .....
Pen6uin, where did you find the PIN to enable registration.?
The Pin
Can be found once you open up the blackberry software and go to settings, make surfe you click 'enable' and 'start', it will then be below the IMEI. I must add that O2 told me quite emphatically that this service will not be available until Jan. 2005.
blackberry service
For what its worth; I called O2 this morning as was told the Blackberry service was due to be available from 1 Nov, but there is a small delay.
The lady I spoke to went away and checked with the "data team" and told me it should be available in the next couple of weeks....
(Surprisingly; she was aware that the new rom release for XDA II included blackberry software; usually the call centre staff seem to be the last to know such things)
Was playing around with the Blackberry software installed the in 1.72 ROM but don't think i can use it as i'm not subscribed with O2 UK
What about Wallaby ?
Any hint whether this BlackBarre application can be installed in anyway on an XDA 1 ?
I lifted the HTC_PocketPC_1.2.4.19_O2_England.cab
from 1.72.181 extended rom from hobbit http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=12526&highlight=blackberry
and tried to install in on a Qtek9090 (xdaIII, pda2k)
Everthing installs OK but when I am to connect to the device from the PC it claims that the "Services are not correctly configured"
I have checked for configuration files and settings in the registry but at a quick glance it seems that the configuration is hardcoded in some dll.
I have BlackBerry Enterprise in Sweden (Vodafone as carrier)
I wont give up yet but if anyone else succeds please write a few lines!
Best regards!
ok after a conversation with a rather upto date call center bod he has told me to call customer services and (get this he called me back lol ) they need to activate blackberry on my account and then try again apparently he said most off the setup is to be done on the handset so he will keep an eye on my account and then call me again (i feel honoured )when i have it activated to tell me the set up.what a nice man

Let us know when he gets back to you.
Have you got the logon to the site yet?
Did you have to ask for APN 57 (blackberry.net) from CS?
ok my quest continues ......
after speaking to cs this morning they put me onto data support who again are very knoledgable think there has been some training going on at 02 ,anyways he checks my account again and the usuall 'O' let me see if i can do it from here still no joy,he calls cs and does mention apn bydandie
he then transfers me to cs to give security details for the gzillianth time lol to activate it and says it should be activated within the next 24 hrs ...... so we shall see i will give an update asap
my surgestion is to mention the apn switch on for blackberry when calling cs to avoid the data support call .
Im getting the same issue about IMEI already being defined, and requested to log in with existing userid (which I havent set up).
Id also like to use my exisiting work VODAFONE SIM, which is GPRS enabled to our corporate BES (but Blackberry service removed) - will this work? (XDA is unlocked).
Finally anyone know if there's a true Vodafone/QTEK 2020 ROM upgrade - we've got these as work as well.
Blackberry Working!!!
Ignore my last posts - Ive now successfully got the XDA working on our corporate BES.
Was really a case of just following the instructions in the docs above, ensuring Blackberry enabled account (couresty Voda) being used.
No sweat.
Probably still some things to sort out for web based service though.

Hi. Great news!!! What is the actual cab file putting the BB functionality on the device? I would like to avoid installing the whole new ROM if at all possible. Has anyone tried installing just the BB? Thanks
Today I had time to test the BlackBerry client (look at my post above) HTC_PocketPC_1.2.4.19_O2_England.cab on a Qtek 2020.
And I got it working without any trouble
However, installed it on a 1.66 device and after a while the Bb client disconnected from gprs and I had to connect it again.
I connected it against a Blackberry enterprise server and, could successfully send & recieve mails and make address lookup to the GAL.
It also recieved the IT policy but I dont know what policy settings it applied
When I tried the same package on my Qtek 9090 it was very sluggish and never connected, so the client abviously works very close with the radio stack!? If anyone has better results than me please let me know
Best regards
Thanks for the guidance. Got the cab. Now, here's the golden question. What does BB enabled account mean? If I have GRPS connectivity is that not enough? I am guessing in order to control pricing packages there may be certain ports used by BB that the carrier blocks and then when you pay the fees for BB enabled account they simply enable them. Is this the case? Thanks for your clarification.

Does this cab file install other applications other than the BB client? Coz I dont want to install any other app except the BB client on my XDAII since its an Asian ROM 1.66.
I worked my way through the guide doc for Exchange all the way up to :
6. Tap the Synchronization tab.
7. Select the Enable Wireless Synchronization check box.
This checkbox is grayed out on my device. Were you able to select this checkbox? Thanks

blackberry setup - Australia (O2 Mini)

Hi, was wondering if anyone can help me setup blackberry on my o2mini..
I have upgraded to the latest ROM which claims to have blackberry function.
But i have no idea how to make it work to start receiving my pop mails..
can anyone help me ><
i am with vodafone if that helps...
Just pop into a Vodafone store and they will help you set it up...you will have to go on a plan (not prepaid)
u sure they can help me set it up?
i remember going in before enquiring about blackberry for O2mini and they said its not suported officially..?
Would the setting up blackberry procedure the same as other ones?
i'll go in and ask them then
thanks
From memory I think you'll have to go onto the $49 data plan to use blackberry since they now charge $1 per 5 mins of GPRS connectivity.
Nearly makes me want to switch back to Telstra..... nearly
yay~~~
now its working~
basically you need to have BB account with your provider (pay service)
and setup account thru their website.
You will need your device's IMEI/PIN number
and POP3 email address + passwords and thats all!!!

I'm wondering whether this is still working for you ... according to this thread, the folks at Blackberry kick you off after a few days if the BB Connect client does not match the ROM's original network ...
PS. i have read alot of discussions on here about getting it to work properly... just to let you all know, if your PIN number for your blackberry client meant for another network.... blackberry themselves will cut of the traffic to your pin number... although this may take a week or so for it to cut off. The network you are with will not know this has happened hense you will get no help from them. This is a LICENSING issue... tech support advisors will not have this within thier network's published information.

Yes its still working for me - with vodafone.
The only thing its not promised to do as a proper BB device is not been able to receive the emails straight away at occassionally.
Also, if you have the USB plugged in the BB email gets disabled automatically untill u unplug it.
I upgraded to the T-Mobile ROM 1.3.
Didnt do the big storage patch as i got lost in the middle of the tutorial and couldnt be bothered... ;p (BUT still have about 20mb original storage)
Also the post about BB checking mismatches probably only applys when ppl install the O2mini 1.3 ROM --> O2miniPro..
Otherwise i cant think of anything that i did more to make it work continueous.
Voda BB unlimited plan is $49 month i think.

Thanks for the info. In any event, work won't allow me to use my O2 for this - not a secure enough device, according to them.
BTW, I did the bigstorage thing ... very straightforward if you follow the 8 steps at the bottom of this page.
well thats too bad ><~
But about the security issue.. i m sure if the hackers really wants to get in your email they will always figure a way..
If you company uses a work server + sercurity + firewalls + whatever then probably YES it will be insecure compare to BB but then you cant use your email unless you at work... guess that the trade off..
With the Vodafone:
What happen is they give you a <[email protected]> which the settings etc links to your BB device - O2mini.
So whatever emails in the inbox there will be on your device.
To setup you have to 'nominate'/add your various pop3 accounts to make it PULL emails from them to the this <[email protected]>.
Hope this clarify some of the ideas the technology uses for you newbies like myself ;p

The issue is not really with BB Connect. The issue is that with Blackberry devices, the IT department can force a profile onto the Blackberry device and set up policies that cannot be overriden. Eg, they can set a policy that the device will ask for a password after 5 minutes of inactivity. This however cannot be done with a PDA running BB Connect.
Other examples of policies that they cannot enforce:
- Internet usage (web browsing, ssh'ing etc)
- Installation of software (games, etc)
Have you guys had any luck getting this working with Optus.
I have been trying to get it going for about 3 days now and am about to put it into the to hard basket.
Hi all,
I got it all installed and got my email address and 'the activation" password from my IT department. We use Blackberry Enterprise server.
There is no place for me to enter that information in the settings, any idea?
Thanks,
Eric.

BLACKBERRY WORKING INOPTUS SETUP
After you install the BB conect from T mobile change the regional settings to dutch (Netherlands) after that start the blackberry aplication and it should log on to blackberry after that go to http://www.blackberry.com/go/email/optus and register the handset you must have a blackeberry data plan
You can set the regional settings back to australia after the first registration seams to work for me .

O2 XDA on a Blackberry Enterprise Server 4.0 SP3 BBConnect.

***Applies to BES with Microsoft Exchange server. Should work with anything though. ***
**** Backup your Device I did not lose any info but you may. ****
Hello All,
Just thought I would post this to help anybody out there that wishes to use a XDA to connect to a BES 4.0 Server.
Goto your BES server and add the user from the global address list.
Right, First of all you need to unlock the Handset using the software found on this site.
You will then need to phone up vodafone and get a Sim card that is Blackberry enabled (Enterprise version V.Important to connect to BES) also need a spare licence for you BES but I was told by a voda engineer that this does not matter it is only your conscience that should make you buy the CAL (Client Access licences). I am fully licenced by the way.
Uninstall blackberry connect on the XDA then stick in your Vodafone sim card.
Go into system and reinstall it. It will ask you if you want your calender sync'd and a few other question but click straight through.
Delete the Pairings on active sync and then sync the xda with the computer.
Download and install the Blackberry active sync configuration tool.
Make sure the XDA is in the cradle and go into the configuration tool.
Click the connect button down the bottom. This will go off and tell you BES server its PIN code which will be very different from your normal Blackberries. It will also ask you to do the wireless calender update(Delete) on device. This is o.k.
Active sync may want to sync at the same time. Let it do it. Go a make a cup of tea as if you have a busy calender it will take a while.
Once this is done take your XDA out of its cradle and the click on the blackberry connect icon.
Things to check.
* You have Blackberry {ALP} , {CICAL} and {CMIME} in the service.
* Click on CMIME and goto the Sync tab. Tick the Enable wireless syncronisation and change to mailbox wins and delete on mailbox and handheld.
* Check that the tickbox on wireless calender
This should be it. Any questions? Repost and I will give you any help I can.
Oh Vodafone only support BBConnect on the Nokia communicators (and one other) at the moment but I know it works on XDA's.
Going to call vodafone data support and tell them the good news.
Bannywhey.
cant connect
hi
can you please let me know the version of the following you are using
activesync
blackberry activesync configuration tool.
i have an xda2s witha blackberry enterprise chip.did what you said as the necessary steps.
i can see that my connection is activeboth at vodafone and blackberry.net but the BES server is not recognising my pin.

no service book.
tried to ask our admin to push it.
doesnt work.
what could be wrong ?is there something i am missing should reload blackberry connect software ?

Nice document - thank you!

Not available for WinMo 6.5 esp. an HD2 working addon.
I suggest you use Microsoft Exchange for the time being.
"esp. an HD2 working addon." ??
are you working on an add on ?
will a registry hack permit intallation and running of Balckberry connect 4
I tried contacting blackberry , but they requested we contact service provider
I belive there is some hot fix for some HTC devices by hacking the Registry
Will it work with HTC HD2
Please advice , I am desprate to make it work
Nope Im not working on one as RIM usually provides the solution and chefs take that one solution from a particular ROM and modded to make it compatible with other devices. It seem RIM hasn't created a WinMo 6.5 compatible BB Connect app.

Despair no more. I have it working (see my signature!)
This is what you do:
BEFORE INSTALLING Blackberry Connect you do the following:
* Use a registry editor and change the AKU to .1.6.3 (HLMK\System\Versions) --> Please note the leading dot before the number 1.
With AKU .1.6.3 you will get email but not the Blackberry browser, i.e. Internet Explorer using the Blackberry Internet connection, but believe me: You don't need that.
Resco Registry Editor (not free) is a good choice, but there are others.
* Create a new String registry entry under HLKM\Init called Launch130 and set its contents to SetModelID.exe (Case SeNsiTive!!!)
* Copy/Paste SetModelID.exe to the Windows folder in your Phone
* You can find SetModelID.exe here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=520413&page=4
* SetModelID will trick BB Connect into thinking you have a different phone.
* Install BB Connect 4.0.0.106 (It will soft reset after the initial configuration/installation)
* You can get BB Connect 4.0.0.106 from http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?entry_id=338
* After reboot, you may see a window with an error message about security failed or something like that. If you get that, you won't be able to run Enterprise Activation. That means that the BB Security Service couldn't start. That's a timing issue found with Windows Mobile 6.5.X.
To make that service start you need Task Manager v3.1 from FdcSoft. Start Task Manager and go to Services and press on restart service (icon at the bottom). Task Manager will seem to lock up for a few seconds. Be patient. Once BB Security Service is running you can continue with Enterprise Activation.
* Run the Wireless Enterprise Activation process (No need for BB Desktop Manager)
* Remember that your BES Administrator must set your activation password in your BES Server and of course, you have to have the Blackberry Service from your wireless carrier.
Questions? Let me know how it goes.
Good Luck!!!
Hi Miscom
I own an HD 2 , I belive you own an HD
I tried all that you Said
a) Changed the AKu Value to .1.6.3 from the original .5.0.82
b) Created a Registry String : HLKM\Init called Launch130 set value to SetModelID.exe
c) Copied the file SetModelID.exe to the windows folder
d) Installed BB Connect 4.0.0.106
but I did not get Security failed as suggested by you
my HD2 booted and the BBC SHowed my IMEI but said pin Pending
I have the Task manager 3.1 as said by you but the BB Service doesnot show as stoped
The Task Manager Services Shows Black Berry Security (BBDO
A system folder was created in the Mails Folder ???
but no Black Berry Connect
When I click Black Berry It shows BlackBErry Lock Device
The Black Berry Security Settings
How can I confirm my Black BErry Connect Service is working
How can I configure my Accounts
Why does Black BErry icon lead e to a screen with a lock with the name black berry Lock
Will your efforts work on HTC HD2 LEo Running ROM VErsion 1.48.720.2
If I have failed do I need to revert the changes to the originals to prevent further problems
Thanks in advance

I think we are on the right track. Yes, I have an HD but that procedure works on Windows Mobile 6.5.X regardless of device.
You say that it says PIN pending, but did you get an IP Address? If so, BB Connect is working properly. For the PIN Pending issue read on:
Not getting the security failed message is a good thing. It means that BB Connect was able to initialize all of its services with no issues; and that's why Task Manager is showing it as started already!
That said, there will be times when it won't be able to do it after a soft reset and that's when Task Manager comes in handy.
As part of the installation a system folder (or new account) will be created.
Once BB Connect initializes it will talk to your Wireless Carrier to register itself in the network. If the registration is successful you will find a new email in the system mailbox saying something like your device has been registered to the network.
At this point there are a few things we can try:
1. Go to Settings --> System --> Blackberry
a. Once Blackberry loads, scroll to the right until you are in the Utility Tab
b. Tap on Register Now.
c. After a few seconds you should receive an email in the System Account saying that your device is registered in the network.
This is critical because that registration sends to your device the host routing table and the service books from RIM and your carrier so that your device is correctly provisioned to get Blackberry email.
If after registration you don't get the email in the system account or you don't get PIN it could mean one or more of the following issues:
1. Besides having a data plan with your wireless carrier, do you also have a Blackberry Plan for PDA? (Blackberry Plan for PDA is what AT&T calls it in the USA. If you don't have it, BB Connect won't work)
2. Has an account being provisioned in the BES Server in your organization?
If not you need to ask your BES Administrator to provision one for you.
If yes, you need to ask your BES Administrator to assign an activation password to your account.
After yout BES Administrator assigns the Activation Password to your BES Account, in your device you do the following:
Settings --> System --> Blackberry
Go to the activation tab
Enter your BES Server email account and activation password
Tap on Activate.
If all goes well, after a few minutes (be patient), the activation process will finish and you will start receiving emails in your BB Account.
Let me know how it goes.

v1zca1n0,
Please read my previous post.
Do you get an IP Address?
Settings --> System --> Blackberry (Status Tab).
Are you provisioned with your Wireless Carrier for Blackberry Connect?
Have you been provisioned in your BES Server?
v1zca1n0,
Something comes to mind and this may sound a bit strange but...
Sometimes Wireless Carriers won't activate your BB Connect service if your device's IMEI number is not in the list of devices that support BB Connect, in this case in a Leo.
The way to trick them into doing this is to insert your SIM Card into another device that is supported by the Carrier with BB Connect (ATT Fuze in my case). Install BB Connect and activate it. It should go through with no issues.
Once your SIM Card is registered as a valid card that can use BB Connect, put it back into your device, install BB Connect and you should be good to go.
I know that this sounds like a long shot, but I did it once a year ago to get my ATT Fuze with BB Connect because at that time the Fuze was not supported by AT&T with BB Connect but I had a Tilt and that one was supported.
And now I am using that same SIM Card with an HTC T8285 (Telstra Australia) in the AT&T Network with BB Connect.
Saludos,

Kindly i've followed the installation procedure
but still the name of the device hasn't changed...
my device is HTC jade (touch3G)
Yeah tried it, and I can confirm it..
BBC and BAS couldn't work with HD2 yet..
I got my pin in my X1 but couldn't even connect to the network in HD2.. well it connected for a while.. then it disconnected it self..
kindly i would appriciate a feedback who had tried it on HTC-Jade (Touch 3G) & it worked for him.
was there any tricks to get it work?
i added the reg key "launch130" & added the "SetmodID.exe" in windows folder & running it manually. I installed the bbconnect, & after restrarting the device there was no error, & the application started smoothly. but as for the device name in BBC wasn't changed it's always HTC-Jade. when trying to connect the tunnel & IP address are shown, the PIN=pending....
any comments or suggestions!!!!!!
thank you
anyone????
A possible way to make BB Connect work
Hello all,
I know that the procedure explained in the attached Word document may seem like a long shot; but I think it's worth a try.
I don't own an HD2, but by following this procedure I was able to install and run the Blackberry Application Suite in my Blackstone.
You see, the HTC-BlackStone is not supported by the BAS and an tried many versions of SetModelID.exe and none of those worked, but by changing the Device Model ID in the ROM to HTC-Raphael before flashing I was able to trick BAS and make it install and run with no issues.
If someone wants to give it a try, please let me know whether or not it worked.
I am attaching two files: One is a screen shot of my Blackstone being identified by Blackberry Connect as an HTC-Raphael and the second one is a Word document explaining the procedure on how to change the Device Model ID.

i want to buy the HD2 and need BBConnect. What you have done looks the same as the setmodelid cab that has been floating around for a while. it worked for me on my TP2 but apparantly not on the HD2. I have attached it for reference (and a LEO one someone posted that I have no idea if it works). is what youare doing differnet?

Yes, it's different because this change is made to the ROM file before it's flashed into the phone.
I tried all versions of SetModelID.exe I could find and none worked for me when testing Blackberry Application Suite because BAS would always say that I had an unsupported device (a BlackStone).
I don't use BAS but I did all those tests because I suspect that both products, BAS and BB Connect, use the same detection scheme.
So, if someone with an HD2 is willing to test this we would know for sure if BB Connect will work or not.
