3rd Party VPN clients - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I'm curious what people are using for VPN clients besides native WM5 clients (IPsec/L2TP and PPTP)?
What are you using for a VPN gateway? Cisco, Microsoft, Nortel, Juniper, Check Point?

You need to get your company to get a WebVPN solution ... the best!!!

VPN

I want to use the 8125 on my company's VPN. I have access to both a PPTP VPN server and also a IPSec server. Is there a guide out there to get setup with this? Any better third party programs then the one that is included?
You might have a look at this product called AnthaVPN:
www.anthavpn.com/webmaker/portal/wmlink_360
It now supports WM5 and Wizard devices, and connects to multiple gateways from different vendors. I have used it to connect to a Nortel VPN, but required a little fiddling of settings on both sides of the connection to get it to work right. It's also a little pricey at ~$90.
There's also Movian VPN, and Bluefire. Personally, I don't think either Movian or Antha are worth bothering with - their support sucks. Spend the extra and get Bluefire. There's a free eval version on Bluefire's site...

My experience with BlueFire is not that satisfying so far - http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=52386
Do you know anything better for IPsec VPN? Thanks.

How to open Cisco VPN?

Hi!
In our company we have Cisco VPN clients on laptops. How do I open VPN connection from TyTN?
.............probably not going to happen.
...did you install the client on your phone?
ClCisco does not have client...
There is no official client from Cisco. AFAIK.
There is third party program that I have not installed... Because it is so expensive. First I want to try with what I have...
In TyTN there is clien inside which should support appropriate protocols. It does not support changing RSA-key... afaik again. Any suggestions?
Hmm.
It should work, as long as your company doesn't demand that your computer be joined to a domain or anything. Hostname, username, password should be all you need.
Group password...
I think the biggest problem is this group authentication system... Groupname and password. There is no way to set those parameters.
VPN Clients that support "Group Authentication"
If you require "Group Authentication" you'll need either the:
Bluefire
http://www.bluefiresecurity.com/products/vpn/
(I'm testing with the 15 day free trial and it works, with one annoyance - it does not reestablish automatically if I lose phone signal, and have to reconnect, typing in password again. It will be $79 to own)
or the:
NCP VPN client:
http://www.ncp.de/fileadmin/pdf/datenblaetter/NCP_DS_Entry_Client_CE.pdf
(see 30 day free trial download link at end of the .pdf, I have NOT tested, but read it works here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=356489, $83 to own)
Good luck,
Thank you for pointing the other... I've also been able to find Bluefire but had no time to test it. Good to know that it works. Yes I really need that group authentication. I'll test this second one also.
I've got Bluefire VPN working with a Cisco VPN Concentrator and RSA authentication.

I've been trying to connect my Tilt to my Cisco ASA5510 device using standard L2TP and I can't get it to work. No need for groupname and password, but it always fails.
The inbuilt client lt2p does work with cisco vpns we have it working through a cisco 3005 concentrator. It is a bit of a pain to set it up correctly at the concentrator end. If anyone is interested i'll put together a guide based on what we did.

VPN for Windows Mobile?

Hi!
I am looking for a VPN Client to access a secured Network (Cisco VPN) with my PDA - Symantec claims it's "Mobile VPN" is able to do such, but i was not able to find a retailer yet that would sell it.
Anyone here who knows a good alternative?
Cheers,
Thomas
if your a registered cisco user then you can possibly get it here...
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6744/products_ios_protocol_group_home.html
if not, then i would guess your pretty much out of luck, unless you can find it on a torrent site

I found those on wiki.howardforums.com/index.php/Vpn and
GreenBow is 30days trial.
Hope this helps...
Why not use the native vpn client. ipsec/l2tp works using both preshared keys and certificates as long as the cisco vpn concentrator is setup correctly.

VPN-Client????

Hey Guys,
is there a free VPN-Client for our Diamond, that works together with an Open VPN Server? Or is there another way to get a VPN Connection?
Chears Marco
Or a free client that works with Cisco vpn service?
If there is no free clients what are the other choices?
I use OpenVPN Client for PPC, works fine !
http://ovpnppc.ziggurat29.com/ovpnppc-main.htm
Sebastien
I use built-in connection?
i've tried to connect to my server but wasn't successful.. have to play with it for some time to make it work
the diamond has a built-in vpn-software?
Maybe SecureW2 ?
I wish there was Hamachi for PPC, so I could RDP to my work PC.

go here: http://openvpn.net/index.php/documentation/howto.html
..after reading that, you will know enough for setting up your own OpenVPN connection, but my OpenVPN in TouchPro is not working ..and I'm using the same config for PPC and PC...

Which clients works for Cisco VPN? Anyone of those free?
I tried to run OpenVPN on my touch pro, but it just appeared to open but didn't display itself. I did a soft reset and it still wouldn't work. Any ideas?
Try to disable the TF3D plugin, there is an icon on Today Screen

Cisco VPN on HD2

Hello everybody, first of all sorry for my bad english!
I am thinking to buy an hd2, but i have a question.
At my work place, there is a WiFi network protected by Cisco VPN with a certificate and user-password autentication.
I would to connect with my hd2 with this network.
In Cisco VPN integrated in WM6.5 or i have to install a dedicated software? in this case, the software is free or i have tu buy it?
Another question: is WM6.5 multilanguage (localized in italian in particular) or only in english? If it is only in english is not a big problem, but, well if WM is localized in italian is better for me.
Thanks for reads and answers.

I don't think there is a built-in support for Cisco VPN client in WM. There isn't one even in "classic" windows. Only operating system that has built-in support for Cisco VPN client is MacOS X from version 10.6
I really spent more than 10 nights on that desperately trying to figure out how to make it work with SecurID RSA and Cisco VPN groupname authentication... Still nothing helped.
Why on earth did you lose that much time? When there is no built-in support in "regular" Windows for that, why would it be in WM?

If you are talking about Wifi by Cisco AP, it has nothing to do with VPN. The way enterprise authenticate user by Cisco AP is normally thru EAP-Fast which doesn't support by WM by default. If that's the case, install Juniper Odyssey for WM (not free but you can try it for 30 days) should solve your problem.

But it doesn't work for me as we use groupname authentication at work and this is not supported with AnthaVPN...
I know, Verizon VZAM also supports it, but some parts
AnthaVPN or bluefire
I can connect to my office VPN (Cisco contentrator) with Bluefire VPN.
Some time ago I tried also AnthaVPN with success.
I had to make some (many..) experiments before the success.

for groupname auth you need to have root CA certificate installed on your computer/device
if the CA is Microsoft Active Directory Certificate Services, then try to export the root CA from the web interface (it's usually http://computername/certsrv), and to install it on WM
Cisco Anyconnect
Cisco Anyconnect works with Windows Mobile / Vista (x64) / Windows 7 (x64). However requires additional licenses for ASA / Cisco Firewall.
MB
WinCE client for AnyConnect works with WM? Didn't know that
Btw you don't need additional license for ASA afaik, you just need ASD 6.x and ASA 8.x
