Are there any experts who can tell how to use TomTom-6 in "Horizontal" view.
Sidd
rotate screen into landscape, start TT6
Do you mean rotate screen by the OS, by the TomTom, or physically?
Please advice
Sidd
Can you not assign a hardware key to rotate the screen while it's in use, or use a mortscript to rotate then launch?
V
I will try the 1st idea by SPB rotate feature, by-the-way what is mortscript?
Sidd
Try this tool found in another thread - works like a dream for rotating screen then simply fire up TT - works for XDA Orbit.

PS This tool is great for loads of stuff!
Thanks JezD I will deffinetely try this. Thanks Again
Sidd
I just got TomTom and quickly found how much better it looks and easier it is to see when it's in horizontal mode.
I wrote a very quick simple mortscript file that rotates the screen to a Landscape (right-handed) position, then Launches TomTom. Then when you exit out of TomTom it rotates the screen back to the default Portrait setting.
The only thing to this is if you open the keyboard, you'll loose the screen rotation... but that's ok since TomTom gives you a decent on-screen keyboard, you don't really need to open your own.
This script is written to launch TomTom from the default location on the Storage Card (\Storage Card\Program Files\Navigator\Tomtom Navigator.exe)
If you installed your TomTom else where, you will have to edit the script with your location.
If you want it to rotate to the left-hand position instead, change the 90 in the script to 270.
Download mortscript here:
http://www.sto-helit.de/downloads/pocketpc/MortScript-4.0RC4.zip
Right click and save as for the mortscript file, then copy it to your device and just run it after you have mortscript installed. Enjoy:
http://www.gldrush98.com/uploads/Tomtom.mscr
Wow that mortscript program is neat, and powerful.
I made a second version. This one asks you if you want to Rotate the screen before launch. You can hit Yes to rotate then launch, No to launch normally, or Cancel and it won't launch at all.
I did this because some times I like to launch it normally and wanted an easy way to do that... then a Cancel button in case I accidentally click the icon, then I'm not forced in to launching TomTom.

Still rotating for right handed... I have no use for left handed rotation. If you do, you can just change the 90 to 270 in the script and you'll be made in the shade
Absolutely brilliant! Just what is needed for TT6! Thanks! It works perfectly!
Does this work on WM2003?
The solution
Ive been looking for a solution to this for a long time... all over the place ive tried applications that did so much it drove me nuts having to run them to just rotate the screen for tomtom.... then i stubmled on this thread... where was it xda-developers ... shame on me for not just coming here to search for my solution.... its where they are normally found...
Anyway... i saw a few people that wanted to run this way and that way and well i just wrote a script that does it all so you can use the same script for all situations.
It even defaults into normal mode after 20 seconds if your busy driving and cant be arsed to change it.
Even better yet ive just stuffed it all into one cab file to make it easy to install.
Thanks to the people before in this thread who provided the base for my solution.
I'd love to start my TomTom in landscape using these scripts but I use AstroLauncher to prime/run TomTom. I tried editing the script to running the AstroLauncher TomTom .lnk file but I guess Mortscript didnt like that file extension. Any advise?
For me the better way is to assign the rotation scripts (90 or 270 and 0) to a slide movement on Ultimate launch so when I made a down to top movement on the launcher page my PDA rotate to landscape and when I make a up to down it come back in portrait...very easy when your drive with a rotate PDA car support.
Thats a good idea, but I already have applications set as the Up/Down and Down/Up swipes in Ultimate Launch.
Very good program !
But, is there a way to modify something in order to make it run TomTom 7 on a french diamond ?
If there is a file to edit, just tell me which one please.
Thanks.

Why? Because it useless and it ocupies a line of space that could be used by a today plugin!!!
TrayDisplay is what you need!!! Built with ATL C++, it comes in two files:
HideTray: that makes tour system tray invisible;
DisplayTray: that makes tour system tray visible!!
It makes a shortcut on your \Windows\StartUp folder so that everytime you reset your PPC, it will hide the tray!
When the file is run, it makes it's job and then end's so that it doesn't stay in memory.
This file is not a patch, but an application!
Only works with Windows Mobile 2005!
Hope I'll get some feedback

Bug fixed: screen rotation, then execute TrayDisplay would make the height of the plugins to be wrong!

Thanks !

Fixed screen rotation bug.
I tried this program out on my Jasjar and it did not re-size correctly when the screen was rotated. This was on the .2 version.

It doen't! The problem is, since the application runs, hides the tray and resizes the plugins and then end's, when you rotate the screen you have to manualy run the app again :?
I just installed it and it created the icons in program menu and the HideTray in StartUp folder
But when I reset my Universal the TrayBar is visibile... if I then launch the HideTray icon from the program folder the TrayBar hides...
Why doesn't it hide at startup?
Can you make it work with 2003SE. I am sure there are lot of people will appriciated your work.

I think it's possible, i'll try to do that and post the results here later
It's works on my Wizerd (i-Mate K-JAM), the icons gone but the space not reclame back, it this normal? if so I think it is better if you can move the Unlock function to this line and the user name too so we can save space on the screen (optional). but if we can gain the line to be part of the screen it is much better option.
Thanks,
harryphung;

Using the app to ghost reminders on WM2003
V
I was sure I had seen something for WM2003 somewere!!
ei99070: I'll be updating it to WM2005 at some point, just too busy right now; my version has to be compatible with a couple of other programs I'm writing (a today plugin called VJTodaySpacer), and then making it both WM2005 and WM2003 is a bit of a headache. I need a clear head to get around it!
Are you hiding or resizing the child?
V
vijay555: Hiding!
I tried just resizing, but rotating the screen set it to normal size again... ShowWindow API seems to do the job correctly!
I assume your app is always running on background, correct?
ei99070 - is your app memory resident or one off?
WM2003 compatibility took some work because the newbar and sip are a little interdependant. WM5 is a bit nicer for that:
v
vijay555: true!! It as very easy to find the windows!
But I can tell you now, SIP and the Soft Button bar are independ on Windows Mobile 2005 to...
My app does it's stuff and closes, but that creates a problem: when you rotate the screen it resizes the area available for the plugin's to the original size, but mantains the tray hidden!
ei99070 I'll investigate it at some point soon. That's why I asked if you're memory resident, because polling or hooking the system, or possibly patching in memory, is the only way to prevent this I think. But they're quite bad solutions for stability and resources.
v
I agree, I think that hooking the rotation event will be the better way to avoid this behavior... :?
Great stuff!!
I whas looking for this long time!!

bump anyone?
tMan
I'm using tMan (http://pda.jasnapaka.com/tman) because it gives me posiblity to close applications instead of just sending them to the background.
However this program has an option to rotate the screen, and it works.

I cant find any reg keys that you can chnage to keep it like that, I think it is hard coded somewhere!!!
Thanks guys those apps did rotate my screen but it wasnt permant like i was looking for..still on the hunt
Try this:
This will change your screen orientation to landscape or portrait by registry changes:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\ROTATION]
Change the Value of "Angle" to the
dword:00000000 or dword:00000360 -> Portrait Mode
dword:00000090 -> Landscape(Right-Handed)
dword:00000180 -> Portrait Up-side Down
dword:00000270 -> Landscape (Left-Handed)
Hope it works!!
Is that registry change permanent?

Thanks, man.
I come from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308084&highlight=landscape cause Wizard and Hermes have same keyboard and same effect when open and close.

BUMP bring this back
kbd driver....no chance imo.
Just posted this in another thread, got lost in the forums...anyway i was able to figure this out in the registry.
HKLM\System\GDI\Rotation\CamAppActive - 0 is off, 1 is on. When this is 1 it keeps the screen from rotating. This seems to be why the camera workaround worked.
Set CamAppActive to 1, then go to settings/system/screen and switch the landscape lefthanded mode. Now the phone is in landscape and theres no laggy switching between portrait and landscape every time you open the keyboard ! To cancel it out just open and close the camera or soft-reset.
This could also be used to keep the screen in portrait whenever the keyboard is open....but i have no idea why anyone would want to do that.
Still, this isn't permanant, as its gone after soft reset. Is it possible to run a script to do this on startup/wake? I'm new to the OS so not 100% sure of whats possible.
Maybe a brake though........
my friend has the tilt with a HTC Item homescreen plug in stock and theres a siwtch disply option on it you it and it sets the type of disply u want for the Vertical and horizontal setting
so you can have your phone verital set it for the left view and open your phone put and close it id go back to the left view
anyhow anyone got this??

Manilla2d is really impressive shell of course, but there's no some really needed functions, that we can use in basic today shell. I was really disappointed in absence of two things in it: the first one is interface-styled locker/unlocker and the second one is an ability to use basic today plugins. Of course, we've got another software solutions to fix it, but their's problem is that they don't fit to manilla's interface conception. I've tried to solve this problems, and now i'd like to share my results. Dont kick me pls=))
Eferything posted below was made for using with this theme (with background from this one) with this clock pack. You can repaint it as you wish, consider this all an exampe or an idea=))
1. S2U2. S2U2 imho is the best solution for lock/unlock device. You can find it here. (My version is 0.86) We can use it as is, but iphone-like slider don't looks native to manilla2d. To make it looks more suitable i'd to fully repaint a slider, and this is what i got at the end.

Moving part is an icon of a padlock. When moving it looks strange of course, but the only another variant i got was without unlock animation at all. So this one better)) In archive you can find gfx folder from s2u2 (to install delete your current one, there's nedded some files not to be) and lang.ini file with fixed time format string (HH:mm instead of H:mm). This skin as it is is not suitable fot those who uses slide 2 answer opion, because i didn't paint it))
2. Today plugins. The main trouble of manilla2d as i guess is that there's no a widget to install another today plugins. To solve this problem i needed the following soft:
SecondToday - virtual today-like screen.
HomeScreen PlusPlus - today plugin that allows free positioning of elements,
MortScript - script language for pda.
spacer and spacer2 (attached) - two copies of today plugin what allows to make spacers between another plugins.
So what i've done:
1. Install this all;
2. Make a screenshot of manilla to set it to background of secondToday.
3. Run SecondToday and set spacer as a first plugin. The only way to configure spacers on SecondToday i found is edit the registry. So go to HKCU//software/pocketMax/Spacer and set height of it to 40 (maybe you like another height above your first plugin)
4. Connect in SecondToday below spacer plugins you need to be shown. Set spacer2 below them. Do nothing in tegistry for a while.
5. The most interesting. After the spacer2 set HomeScreenPlusPlus. Pot into its directory two setting sets from archive. The first one is to make setup easier, the second is working one. Open properties of HomeScreenPlusPlus -> advanced and select where sttoday_temp xml.
6. After that you need to change height of spacer2 to put tapzones on the backgoung images like it on the screen. This parameter is in HKCU//software/pocketMax/Spacer2. Don't forget to shut up second today after every try to see changes))
7. Put 5 scripts from archive into /Program Files/MortScript/scripts (or somewhere you want, but change paths in HomeScreenPlusPlus XMLs).
8. Try it. Of corse, sliding won't work, but tapping to zones will open vidget painted on background)))
9. Change sttoday_temp to sttoday it settings of HomeScreenPlusPlus.
10. Put a shortcut of SecondToday to programs widget of manilla.
11. Voila! You got something like below (Remember that you can't slide in this window)
I know it's not the best solution, but i don't want to change functionality to beauty)) This variant is a compromise i think)) In archive you can find S2U2 skin, MortScript scripts, HomeScreen++ themes and two spacers. Good luck in installation=))
ps. sorry my english))
Nice work!
Can you make a VGA version of your S2U2 theme?
another important feature about manilla 2d is NO notifications button or screen..u have to tap the taskbar to see them..
Wow

Give me a minute I need to finish configuration and I'll be back. I've a small request. I assigned second today to FtouchSL so i just need to swipe the bottom screen fast to open it. So I would like you to help me change motorscript files to point to specific tabs.
Jiles how can I change motorscripts files to assign the last icon to Programs, next one to Settings then the rest in order to Photos, maps and Internet?
2-Arturo- i'm in suspence about MortScript i'll try of course
2johanromijn thanks! about VGA sorry i'm afraid i have no device to try on.
ADD 2-Arturo- by series of taps only i'm afraid. As i remember, MortScript cannot slide, only tap (command MouseClick(x, y))
Thanks Jiles
Add2 about the swipes I was talking about this program http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=338143
I don't know if you heard about it but you can assign any aplication to "swipes" left, right, up, down etc. So I was saying that I assigned secondtoday to right swipe it's much more convenient because I don't have to access "Programs" tab to activate secondtoday. I just need to swipe somwhere on the screen from left to right to activate it. In other words you can open it from main screen of Manilla or from contacts screen etc. Try it out
Oh and thanks again for trying to change the motoscripts files. I appreciate it
Ok it took me a while but this is how my secondtoday looks like
http://img356.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screen001ys1.png
2-Arturo- Hmmm.. I on the contrary try to disable FTouchFlo on the today screen, cause it makes its native slide lagging The best solution would be to place secondToday on not-working manilla widget "operator", but i hardly can guess how to do it

Due to the new Bluetooth driver the one for the Xperia wasn't working anymore.
You made me as happy as with your ROMs back then

Have a look at the screenshot. It's an action screen that allows you to select certain actions like new SMS, appointment, task etc.
Works nice! Good to see my BT is working with this version.
Gonna make some changes myself:
- Left softkey to ActionScreen
- No conformation for soft reset
Attached the left softkey for who's interested.
Works fine!
Especially the one-click Wifi switch is very clever.
The only thing is the problem of hitting the powerbutton while typing in landscape mode.
It will launch this app while you're chatting, very annoying.

Hello,
This tips is good if you do not use the TF3D ... otherwise it is replaced by the one from the TF3D ...
Do you know where to modify it in the TF3D ?
Thanks.
Personally I am trying to avoid pushing any buttons, I'd rather have an option on the screen like a shortcut in the Start Menu or something.
Would that be possible?
Hello,
In the start menu, it is a shortcut. Not so difficult. After installing the cab above, you will go to "\Windows" folder and you search for "HTCActionScreen.exe" then you make a copy and after you go to the "Start Menu" folder and "Progams" folder and you make a "Paste shortcut".
And this is done.

I think that's the point, if he's anything like me, everytime I type in landscape mode, I accidentally end up holding the power button for 3 seconds with the side of my finger, I'm forever turning of the phone .
Nice app though, just going to put it on.
For those that don't want to confirm the Soft Reset action:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Biotouch\ActionScreen\APP_10]
"Param"="/s"
Attatched the REG file for those that want to import the file to the registry.
Don't forget to make a soft reset afterwards

Hi!
I'm a longtime lurker, ever since I got my Touch HD when it first came out and I NEEDED to have an english rom instead of a dutch one. Thanks to this place, my phone runs exactly how I want it to (most of the time ).
Except for a decent app launcher. I HATE the win6/6.1 scrollist ones, allthough the startmenu after that sucked a little less. I liked the yotacenter launcher, but in the end I just ran out of space and had to hit the "all apps" button too often and scroll through a huge list.
So I wrote my own in c# under .net 3.5.
And, seeing as I got all my tweaks and fixes from you guys, I thought I should give something back; in essence a quick and dirty app launcher which does exactly what I want: organise the programs I use the most.
It's a catagory per page, has menu, contextmenu and top-scroll-bar driven UI and you can add your own background:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I wrote it to be as device independant as I knew how, but I've really only tested it on my Touch HD1, so I'm really curious as to how it runs "in the wild" (or even on any other HD ). To save some effort, I've just packaged the .exe, which should run from any location. If it doesn't, \Program Files\AppGrouper\ should do it.
It should come with a default background and an icon...for this initial release [call it a beta] I didn't create a cab, so you'll have to copy/edit an existing .lnk file to get the program to show up in the windows\startmenu\ .lnk files so you can use a launcher to launch my launcher (yeah, I get the irony ), or just start the app from the exe.
Anyway, as I said this is the first application I'm releasing to the public, so please give me some feedback I have no idea what "unknown unknowns" this app'll run into on different machines than my emulator and my own Touch HD. The only deletion the program can do is to a specifically named .xml file it generates itself, so it should be safe enough
PS: as I was entering the tags to this post, I realised that this type of software could have been made and released many times: I've only used MS's launcher and the yotacenter one, so any ideas and/or other similarities to other launchers is coincidence and a case of simultanious devellopment (or in my case, retarded devellopment ). Again, any feedback is appreciated, from bugs to implementation to "you've totally ripped off x!". 'Cause I didn't, but I'd like to know about x
Anyway, I hope someone can use this!
Nice apps. The Title Folder box ought be longer to fit the text
Hehe
Ok, so I guess I'll have to set up an auto resize routine for the textsize and the textbox ... check back in a day or two
BTW, what device did you use this on? I'm curious to know if the program works correctly on devices other than touch hd's, too.

Thanks for sharing!
I think mortbutton can do better than this
Ok app. thanks for sharing
By default can you pick up start menu and folder under it as group?
Else I think mortbutton can do far better job than your program. + .netcf 3.5 requirment
Thanks for sharing it. Few things I noticed
while trying to add an to a folder a drop down menu reveal 3 options - the first one is to add an app, what is the second one? it is blank on my tp2?
after running an app it stays in memory. is this how you designed it? i would prefer if it closed after running an app
finally, can you list here launchers that you came across that are standalone apps, meaning they do not sit in memory or eat CPU. i am looking for something like that with folders/tabs like yours and self-close after use.
thanks for sharing. i have one single question. i have installed it on my herald, but i cannot add more then one app to a group. am i missing something?
Sweet launcher! Thank U
I like your application!
As being an anti manila user Until now I was addicted to Program Finder plugin (attached) running on the Today Screen. Unfortunately the Today Screen does not have the SIP toggle in the bottom bar plus sometimes the Today Screen needs a refresh, due to Program Finder being an very old program; its messing up the Today Screen.
Therefore I searched the whole internet and finally after searching for 1 year I found [attachment]ToggleInputPanel.exe[attachment]. I'm executing programs via icons by running Easy Today Launcher.
Your application is a welcome alternative, thanx again! o/~
