ANYWAY to complete remove the tray bar out of Today screen??? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hi,
I've seen this question asked a few times and did my searches and all of them brought nothing. I've gone through Vijay utilities and they can't do this either. I am not talking about remove the WM5 soft buttons (which I like), I am simply talking about REMOVING the useless tray bar alltogether. This is really a waste of realestate screen for my today screen as I have almost never used the tray bar anyway. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Mobiler.

I stopped working on VJToggleToday before addressing the tray, and just haven't had the time and mood to finish it. However, there's another app out there somewhere, a russian app I believe, that removes the tray. I think it's discussed in the latest VJToggleToday threads, or if you google for my piece of poo, you'll find discussions about it.
I will eventually work on VJToggleToday. I've been out of bounds for 3 months, but am finally reconnected to the InterTubes.

thanks vijay!

unsucessful at removing the bottom tray (not soft key tray)
Anyone have luck completely removing the bottom tray (I removed the battery icon, but other apps don't let me remove their icon, so the bottom tray stays...)
windows mobile 5 on an 8525

That's a thing I'd want to know, too....

Same here. It is really a waste of space isn't it, especially in landscape/widescreen mode when you have something like SPB Pocket Plus installed.

unknown menu bar symbol

Sorry if this has been discussed before, I'm a veteran Xda-er having had 3 I's ( I lose them!) and now a II (love it) but I'm new to this forum lark!!
On the menu bar at the very top of the screen on occasion an icon appears that I cannot identify in any of the documentation.
The icon seems to appear at randon times, and on soft reset, sometimes disappearing almost imediately sometimes lingering for several seconds. The only way to descibe it is as a small head and shoulders icon with a cross inside and a curved 'telephone' below to the left! Sorry for the rubbish description, but hopefully someone will know what I mean, I have attached a pic.
if someone could let me know what (if anything) it means that'd be great, cheers
lee
As far as I know it means you cannot make a voice call whilst that is displayed i.e. when you are downloading over GPRS it seems to come up. I might be wrong but I'm sure thats what it is
seems to make sense
cheers
This is the program icon of IA CallerID.
Right, and that it pops up every now and then is just damn useless...

hi guys
i thought it was something to do with the memory because when it comes up the phone is very slow to respond.

Clock missing from title bar...help anyone?

Hey I got my XDA Exec this morning which I'm really please about, been using it for a couple of hours but for some reason the clock has disappeared from the title bar in the today screen and I can't get it back!
Does anyone know what might have happened, about the only thing I've got installed is Pocket Plus 3.
Infact i've noticed that the volume icon is gone too, but if i click where it should be the pop-up appears for me to change the volume levels.
It's like there is something covering these two icons and it's driving me mad, having the time visible there is about one of the most useful things
This is a common problem
This happened to me too. It was caused by the O2 software. If you do a search on this site using the words "clock missing" there have been many posts on this subject and the solutions of how to remove the O2 software are posted too.
The O2 interface also seems to slow up the machine and cause a lot of freezing requiring a soft reset. My machine has been tons better since removing it.
If you decide that you would rather have the clock than the O2 software (and most people do) and decide to remove it, remember first of all to save your phone and GPRS setting to your filestore! This can save you a lot of time. If you like the 02 today screen theme then you could save this too.
Also I recommend that you make a backup first so that you can go back to how you are now if you need to.
Good Luck
Open the clock and you should find an extra tab at the bottom called - "More" select that and a new option appears Display the clock on the title bar in all programs.
Neither of those options worked, in the end I hard resetted the device and set it up in corporate mode I found using a PIN I got by just searching google! No more O2 Active anywhere, and I've got my clock back! I'd only had the device a few hours so luckily it didn't take too long to set everything back up how it was before hand The only thing I had to do was manually set up the GPRS connection again but that was simple enough since I already had all the settings saved

Battery Icon in Tray

I have managed to remove the Wireless Manager Icon from system tray at the bottom of the Today Screen Using a hack from my old Universal.
In the Process, the battery Icon also disappeared, which is good ( i wanted it that way). Basically, i don't need the tray at the bottom at all.
The Problem is that the Battery Icon keeps coming back on in the tray by itself, I don't know why or how. But a softrest will make it disappear again, but it will come back on again.
I don't know what triggers it to come back on. Is there away to make it disappear FOREVER
Thanks
ok here is the deal ....
I would suggest you use some time the search function or refer to that link and you may have success in your problem.
Greetings,
Falk
Look in your \Windows\Start-up directory. There are a list of stuff there, and one of them is the battery (I think the file name has the word 'batt' or something like that, or it has a battery icon), move this file to other location (e.g. back it up, just incase) and softreset your device.

TF3D causing Xperia to Hang forever

Hi guys,
as u know know the TF3D by default takes up the 1st panel.
and when i try to use the other panels..i can no longer press the button X... because whenever i do that..the entire Xperia screen goes blank and hangs up. then even the power button doesnt work and i have to remove and reinsert the battery.
what to do?
this TF3D causing major issues.. is it bugged?
Doing a soft reset is way easier...open the battery cover, pull out the pen und put it in the small hole...
Are you using TF3D as panel or on the default today panel? If not already tried, use the TF3D-Pnaleinstaller here ion the forum...
When i try to access the panels, my X1 hangs most of the time as well, using it as the today screen. Is there any fix?
ya i use it as on Today screen.
is there a fix around this?
i disabled it now anywya.
btw does Soft Reset also delete all the data?
"btw does Soft Reset also delete all the data?"
no thats the diff between soft and hard reset
which version r u guys using? I am using beta2 and I dont have any problem switching panels... only flaw I have in the tf3d is I cant add some people to the favorite list for some reason... otherwise everything is working as it should be
Same here
I wanna know if anyone found a fix for this? or at least let us know if you have this issue. This is what I have narrowed it out to.
I'm using <Touch-IT Xperience v2.1> ROM which has TF3D installed by default
The Panel interface(The screen which opens up when i click panel button) works perfect when i disable TF3D in today
Now when I activate it, am able to open the panel interface and choose any other panel.
After this, if i click on the panel button, the x1 just freezes and all i can do is soft reset
Note:- I have no other application running.
If this continues I have to choose either panels or TF3D. I love it when i can use TF3D for daily use and shift to Facebook or media panel when i need them.
I just wanna know of this indeed a bug or am i missing something big
currently 2 versions available
hi,
i too was suffering fromt he same issues and took a while to realize that the tf3d was causing it.
afaik, there are 2 different versions of tf3d (i mean by 2 diff. people) for xperia.
i beleive most of us are using the one titled 'Full manila hd cabs' (or something similar - extremely sorry for not recalling the name of the developer who's made rhe effort to provide it) - and the one experiencing the issue.
there is another version linkd on the xda wiki, will try it now - and update with names of both developers as well as results
again
actually installing TF3D as a panel solved this issue
but since we have the new manila... the panel doesnt work
so we are back to square one... by default the TF3D sit on the today's screen and after that pressing the panel button freezes the phone
And if you choose the new panel with TF3d... it says loading forever
SOmebody please help
I'm an idiot - I can't figure out where the "small hole" for the soft reset is located.
Can someone show me a picture?

hehe... I spent ages trying to figure this one out too...
here's an image I got on Google search..
to access the reset button .. you need to take off the battery cover, pull out your stylus (since that is obstructing the button) and then using the stylus 'poke' into the hole besides the battery.
I find this location - and the need to take off the battery cover - everytime you need to reset very VERY painful

[Q] App to show all the running apps in tray?

Does something like that exist? I would like to see all the running programs as icons in the tray on today screen. So I don't forget something running and eating up my battery.
I know I can press the upper right corner to see these apps and open or close them from there, but I would prefer seeing them in the tray and being able to tap the icon to open the program. Tap and hold to close would be excellent. iGO 8 and palringo, for example, will show up in tray.
So it doesn't exist?
I think not. I was also searching quite a while for something like this and it doesn't seem to exist. I would also think of this as a very practical application for the tray since there is no real task bar in Windows Mobile.
I chose a somewhat compromise - HTC_TRAY allows you to put shortcuts into the tray which are launching apps, but when they are already running, it is also simply bringing them to foreground. Since you need the stylus anyway to tap the tray icons, I just put apps there which I usually control with the stylus. With HTC_TRAY app I also have a battery meter and a rotate icon. In the tray I can also see the currently selected phone profile with PhoneWeaver - that was basically the reason why I didn't want to hide the tray.
sort of Windows (desktop) tray ??
guess not... but would be great
sounds like WKTask to me.

definitely wktask, it also has a battery bar on top.. and a lot more functions.
its my favorite program for ppc.
Yeah, but wktask uses the upper task bar instead of the tray, right? Since the tray is already there when programs show tray icons and the taskbar already shows information like network, time, sound, start etc., there's not much space for icons left. WkTask using the tray instead of the task bar would be perfect.
why not use the one that is built-in to the unit? go to Windows\TaskManagerApp.exe. you can run the application or stop the selected or stop all running applications.
and if you're going to rely on this app, just assign it to one of the left or right hard keys..

Yeah, but it's better to have it in one glance on the today screen which apps are currently running. Especially with the stylus, you could then quickly switch between applications or terminate them from there. Since you have the tray anyway and can't really get rid of it, I think this would be the best application for it - a small icon based task bar. I really like that idea too.
Well, I guess there's no such thing yet. Maybe some smart guy will read this thread and make a small app for this, I'm sure it's not that hard to do.
try truetoolbar
http://www.valksoft.com/TrueToolbar.html
@mgfung - It's more like a launcher and has a ton of unwanted features. All I want is something simple, only to show the running apps in the tray - tap an app to maximize, tap and hold to close or to have some sort of menu in which I can choose "close".
I don't want to use the upper space (taskbar) because it's already cluttered by the system icons (that I want to have there). I also don't like that these taskbar apps will also change the functionality of the X/ok button in the right corner.
