Hy!
I just moved to a Trinity a few days ago, and first to point that this thing is to date the most "cool looking" HTC has ever designed, (I've had them all...almost) even if it's a finger print magnet, but it's the price to pay for having it in black and graphite....
That said I'm facing a problem a bit strange: after moving 1,5 Gb of songs to my new 2GB HP branded "MINI-SD" Card, refreshing Library and all the stuff, when going to WMPlayer, it refuses to play the "My Music" list, with an error message:
"System can NOT find the specified file"
Any idea about wich file is missing? Thanks in advance.
I have same problem...
Anyone, any idea for this?

I've been todl from HTC it's a known problem they have been unable to replicate....
IMHO it happens with large libraries, but also when .aac files are stored with .mp3 files in the same folder. It happened to me also in an Hermes device.
Let me know if this is the issue for you too.
Regards.

Find and delete the folder MSMETADATA and its contents then update the wm library - this is a known problem.

reclaiming lost space on card
just some extra info regarding this issue
before I knew about the delete msmedata file solution I found that when I tried to update the library it would seem to hang the phone while adding files. While this was happening I looked at the available memory on the card and saw it quickly running down to 0mb. It was as if the phone was trying to copy duplicates of all my audio files. I could not find these files even though they were obviously taking up the space on the card, and so could not delete them. The only way I could reclaim this space was to back up the files that I did want, formatted the card and finally copied the wanted files back onto the card. Space reclaimed.
Maybe there's a simpler work around for this that I am unaware of but if not, I hope this helps someone.
Until aku 3 or higer comes out you have to live with this crappy work around. This is one of the reasons the Hermes is a toy rather than a tool

Not that I want to perpetuate the inane toy versus tool debate, but I have a claw hammer thats a very good hammer but crap at nail removal for which I have a more specialised tool - I do use it for taking out nails though when I don't have the special tool to hand. Now would you say my hammer is a toy not a tool because some aspects of what it does are not as good as others - in fact that hammer won't remove a nail at all if its flush to the wood. Just a thought.

too late!
Surely the toy/tool thing is purely subjective? When I'm playing poker on my tytn, it's a toy. When I'm finishing off a spreadsheet for work or doing my accounts, it's a tool.
I am using the undated, unrestricted version of windows live, when i am logged in into live messenger I am not able to change my display name. Never had this prob before! can anyone help? thanks in advance!
Same problem with my T-Mobile Wing (HTC Herald)
First, I want to say I been having this "issue/problem" since I was using My T-Mobile MDA (HTC Wizard) WM5, that's right.. I have try other ROMs (other versions of the software) before I upgraded to this new device I'm using now. I been using Windows Live Messenger mobile services since the beta days... What i do remember is this "problem" started to happen to me around March 31/April 1 of this year. I remember downloading the new NON-BETA and installing on my MDA. From then, the service hasn't worked properly. I also get this: "Some information is either missing or incorrect. Please try again." and when that one comes up "my display picture" still doesn't show to others but "my personal message" and "my display name" on the messenger shows up to them. I have try a few things already that I have read on this site but nothing as work yet for me.
I've uninstalled the Aserg optimisation, reinstalled the WML and it worked again I don't know what the optimize stuff does (except the smaller scrollbar and some handy apps) but it really was the issue...
Problem processing your request

Thanks, but i have little idea of what you mean by "uninstalling the Aserg optimization". Is there an "app" on my PPC named "Aserg"? Nop! *Never even heard of it*

The only options I know of, are my "msn/windows live profile options" and yes in the past I have try a few things. The only thing I have notice is that if I have a "Display Picture" located on my "Messenger appearance" part of that page of my "Profile" when I try to "Sync" on my PPC it will always give me an error. This one to be exact "Synhronization failed." *Everything (e-mails, contacts) syncs except my messenger display picture, my personal message and my display name. I don't believe my "Messenger appearance permissions" or my "General appearance permissions" from my msn/windows live profile should be the reason why this happens to me.
**Some times I wonder, if my "service provider" has anything to do with this feature on my "Windows Live" being crippled. *fcukers!

Try the following:
Search your music database for a folder with write protection enabled. Disable this write protection and see if this fixes issue.
Manila player needs write permissions to these audio folders, because manila puts a hidden cover art file in each audio folder: hTC_AM_AlbumArt.jpg
Hope this helps...
Solution from vBoedefeld
same issue for me too.
this solution did not work
Hmmm. Okay, what can we do alternatively?
Anybody here to help us?
I think this bug is because of the writing protection which can not be disabled for an unknown reason!
Was doing some fiddling last night (as mentioned in another thread) and it, for me at least, appeared to be a problem with the program a mp3 was compressed with.
All my lame mp3s work fine but as soon as I copy one which dbpoweramp says was compressed with FHG all mp3s stop after a few seconds.
thanks!

Hello all,
Long time fan first time caller
Can anyone tell me where the playlist you save with the HTC music player on the home screen tabs is located? Is it on storage card or phone itself? What folder / location?
Thanks in advance team.
You can find the playlists in Application Data/HTC/AudioManager_Eng/Playlists.

Thanks for this thread, I've been wondering the same thing myself. I'm having a slight problem though. I've made a custom playlist from some tracks on the phone but the folder you've listed is empty. I checked if maybe it was a hidden file but but there is no playlist in there.I've had to do a few hard resets recently and it's a real bugger having to make a new playlist every time! If anyone can give a definitive answer as to where I can find the custom playlist that would be great, or am I doing something wrong? Any help would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance
Solved... kida
Hi and thanks for your reply maximus1111.
I have a solution, but its not idea.
The playlist data is stored in Application Data/HTC/AudioManager_Eng/Playlists
If you look in the playlists folder it appears empty but its there.
If you go into the audiomanager folder there are two files in there. Copy them and go to your storage card. Make a folder- call it what ever you want (eg HTC Playlist) and paste the two files in there.
If you lose your playlists in the device for some reason you can copy the files back from your storage card to the phone and you will have your playlists back.
If you want to delete the playlist in your phone and use the ones in your storage card, soft reset the devic. When it starts up make sure you do not open the HTC Music application (very important or wont work). Using file manager go to audiomanager in the phone and delete the two files. Then paste the ones from your storage card there and it will work.
Less than ideal and a bit of mucking around, but I have confirmed it works with my HTC HD2.
Thanks everyone. This is a great forum.

Ok,
Thanks for the tip. I've backed up the Audiomanager folder so hopefully, if I need to replace the playlist, it should work. You're sure that the playlist is in that folder though?
Thanks

hi, same here, no playlist in folder. i copied the audiomanager_eng.vol to my pc. when i look at it with a hexeditor, i see the names and path (eg. ZPlay \Application Data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\playlists\ZPlay) in the file. also i found all information about the mp3 files i have added to playlists (eg. \Storage Card\Audio\Music\ACDC - Backtracks - 08 - Snake Eye.mp3 Snake Eye). so i think htc stores everything in that file.
i think thats a good example how htc developers are ticking, instead of keeping it simple they make it as complicated as possible... spilling all the data the user have created all over the complete device. if i just want to save my settings i have to run around between a dozend different places on my hd2.

I know it sounds a bit wacky, but tried it twice and worked both times when I followed the procedure. As to why it works is above my limited intelligence.

I've searched up and down this forum as well as Google but cannot find the app. I have a M3U file that I want to stream from my phone but I need CorePlayer to do so. Can anybody share or provide a link for a free download. Thanks.
Core player is software you have to buy. you can find it here: http://coreplayer.com/
cracked programs / warez are not permitted on this forum, fyi.

If memory serves me correctly, you can do the same thing with TCPMP. Do a search on here and you will find it. I am most certain that I have used it for streaming police scanner M3U files a couple of months ago.
CorePlayer is commercial software that you must purchase, TCPMP is free and is the source from which CorePlayer sprang.

Yup, thats what I want for as well.
I installed TCPMP_0.72_RC1 but I get an error message when I try opening it. It reads: "Unexpected program failure. Please send "crash.txt" to the developers. Program will now exit"
I don't know what the problem is. I have read other people having the same problem and I cannot find a solution. Can anybody help with this?

Any chance you have it installed to a storage card, and that storage card had previously had tcpmp installed on it but on a different phone? If so, some of the settings (which are preserved even when uninstalling) may be causing problems. If that's the case, go into your storage card and delete the entire tcpmp folder (after uninstalling) and try to install it again...
imma try this out!

Sorry for the late reply.. but no, there is no need to install to storage card, other than saving space. Installing it to a card was the only way I could think of that would make "left over" settings as the culprit to your problems. Hope you got this sorted out by now. Cheers
