Screen Colour Bad :( - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I have just upgraded from XDA Mini S to MDA Vario 2 everything is fine except the screen
The image seems a lot sharper on the xda. I have turned the brightness up full on the MDA but it looks dull like the colour profile is different is there any way to change this.
Is it worth changing my ROM as i have the latest t-mobile?
any advise please!

Try VJLumos III.

the backlight is ok your program does improve the light however my problem is the colours are different everything is dull any more ideas?

Don't think there's much you can do. I don't think the devices have support for colour profiles AFAIK. Rom won't make a difference. Try to compare with another Hermes.

Strange color behavior

I came from an Ipaq H5550 and I have been using it as a device to store and review my pictures (I am a professional photographer).
After I received my XDAII I noticed a strange behavior on some textures, it appear that the XDAII does not display all the color my Ipaq was capable of.
This is not a complain even because I never relied on PDAs screen or Laptop screens to judge the color of my pictures and also I love my XDAII, instead I am just curious to confirm if I had made a step back on this matter and know my toy a little bit more.
I know that the display even being the same resolution it is not the same size, the image is also more contrasted and darker compared to the Ipaq.
This is the only aspect I prefered the Ipaq, any other I prefer the XDAII that make for such a superb and complete toy.
I have noticed the same thing (dithering) a lot on the XDA 2 and I am very worried. I felt it was not a true 64bit 65000 colour screen, but no-one else replied to posts on the subject so I thought perhaps I am being silly!
The same to me: my new i-mate shows picture in the same way as xdaI was. The screen is bright, the colors are perfect, but the picture looks like on 4096 colors mode.
No dithering is turned on.
The same effect with different images& viewers.

PH10a VS PH10B

I dropped my (SPV M1000) PH10B (cracked the LCD Screen) which was running WM5 1.60.cWWE and 96Ramdisk.
My LCD screen was MUCH brighter than my friends PH10a (running same software) but my HW buttons did NOT work, whereas his did.
My brand new replacement phone came today, I flashed it with 1.60.cWWE and 96Ramdisk immediatley and now my HW buttons DO work but the screen is not so bright. It looks like a windows desktop that is running in 256 colours rather than 32-bit, you know? My old phone was really high res colour and was really bright.
I looked at my new phones model number and it is a PH10a.
So, is this HW button thing down to this diff in hardware??
And is there anything that I can do to my screen to help smooth the colours and make it brighter?
I dont mind the darkness so much but the edged of icons etc look quite 'jagged'.
Roostaar
PS Its weird but this screenshot looks excellent, the actual device however is darker and blocky background (like a low res, low colour screen)
I have the same problem. I have 2 XDAII's. One has a really bright screen but the camera and notes buttons don't work (WM2K). The other works fine but the screen is 50% darker. Its impossible to play tombraider so its not how it should be. Surely there must be something that can be done????

screen backlight brightness problem

hi all
i need some help from you guys
I have a vario II serial 632 and I have notice that when you switch on the phone and my t-mobile logo is a bit dim at start and then goes bright for a second and then bit dim and stays that way in the desktop mode, not to0 dim but this is the help I need form you guys as i have no accesses to another vario II to test. I have also noticed that when you switch on camera the screen goes brighter the same brightness as the logo brightness (for a second ) and stays that way. Then if u press ok button ( not the cross or application close button) the application gets minimized and u can see desktop bright for a second and goes dim again and go back to cam goes bright again. But close cam and screen come back to a different brightness same as desktop brightness.
I was wondering if this normal or is it just with my handset. As I can still get it changed by t-mobile if its faulty
any help would be really Appreciated
thanks in advance
This is normal behaviour, every Hermes device does that. I think having that very high level of brightness active all the time would make the backlight lamps age really quickly and eventually make them unusable. That is why HTC decided to only use it in the camera application where you need it to be able to use the display as viewfinder also in rather bright sunlight.
Cheers
Daniel
I used my Magician at SuperBrite for a year and it's as bright as ever. I think the phone will be obsolete before the screen will be, which is why I wrote VJLumos I, II and III.
VJLumos III, available on this forum, makes the Hermes super brite all the time.
(And if the screen lamp fades < 1 year, I guess you're covered by your warranty).

thanks a lot guys
you guys are great
Camera mode brightens the display by 2 notch... to enable u to usethe display as a good viewfinder even on a daylight..

Spoiled from WIZARD - Screen brightness - who has an idea?

While playing with my HERMES I noticed the following:
First:
The screen is not as bright as on the WIZARD!
Second:
When turning on the camera you shortly can see that the backlight gets increased while opening the CAMERA application. Now, that tells me that there could be a way to increase the background backlight permanently over its default maximum.
Has anyone an idea? I tried already to raise the registry values for backlight without success.
VJ's
There is a program by VJ called super bright I believe it what you are looking for, if so post a little love for VJ's hard work here is the link

Well, it makes the screen nice and bright - that's for sure!
The drawback's on this neat little application: You can't shut it down other than restarting the PDA, you can't adjust brightness and you can't use the CAMERA as long as the application runs.
I just wonder if the brightness could be increased via Registry Hack - that would be great!
how very odd! i've noticed that comparing my Vario I (Wizard) with my Vario II (Hermes) the Hermes has a considerably better and brighter screen! the colours are a lot more 'fuller'!
i havent tried the 'VJ' app, but will do when i get home,
why would you want it so bright anyway?!
Well, the brightness helps while watching a movie on the go!
Also if you do some work on the road or navigation in the car it comes in handy. I just wish the application mentioned above would not have so many side effects ...

I just 'click or ok' Super Bright the same way to turn it on or off (no pda restarts needed).
Run the program again to shut it off. I mapped it to one of the hardware buttons.
Thank you vijay555!

which is better in model and why ?

which is better in model and why ?

I prefer O2 Exec because it´s all black and blue light on keyboard
Everything depends on your likings
Someone prefer XDA Exec because of black color and blue light on keyboard and someone Orange SPV branch because likes white/grey with red/orange light on keys.
I have an Exec because I love black color and blue light isn't dazzling that like red for me.

well i have a imate jasjar and MDA and both of them are great it's personal choice...
I liked the blue lights so much, that I installed the keyboard from O2 on my JasJar. Now I am considering getting it a black body, hehe. Although from time to time, just out of my desire for change I use my other JasJar with original red lights keyboard, it's set up in the same way as the one with blue lights, so it's only a matter of changing the SIM over. All I need to be happy is to upgrade that mainboard to 128Mb, hehe.
The grey keyboard differs not only in back lights color, the texture of the keys is not smooth and less light reflective compared to black keyboard with blue lights.
