I have 450+ notes and it's taking up a lot of memory on my TyTN. It there a way to get it synchronized to the storage card? I've tried manually cutting and pasting the notes from the phone memory to the storage card, but the desktop Outlook doesn't see the notes in the card, and the desktop Outlook notes folder is empty
Change the location of My Documents for Sync'ing
To change the location of My Documents
Documents are opened in and saved to the device's internal storage by default. You can change this location to, for example, your Storage Card:
Add or Change
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\FileSyncPath = "\Storage Card\My Documents" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
To return to the original location:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\FileSyncPath = "\My Documents" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
Ugh... I'm a complete noob and don't know how to change the registry. Could you tell me how to do it?
Download Total Commander (TC)
In TC, go to the very root ("\") and click on the \\ and you should see the directory 'registry'. Thats the system registry. Do your job there.

Okay, I'm using Total Commander, and I'm in the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services folder. There is nothing that says "FileSyncPath". What do I do next? I've never used Total Commander before.
Could someone please give me detailed instructions on how to do this with either Total Commander or Rescoe Explorer? I've never edited a registry before, and I'm afraid of screwing up my TyTN if I do something wrong.

If the key doesn't exist than you need to add the key.
In Resco Explorer open the Registry
Click on HKLM
Click on software
click on Microsoft
click on Windows CE Services
Click on Menu / New / String Value
Name = FileSyncPath
String = \Storage Card\My Documents
RTFM

Ugh... I tried it, but it didn't make a difference. My notes are still in the main memory. When i move it from the main memory to the storage card via File Explorer, it deletes it from the desktop Outlook. What am I missing?
have you tried a soft reset after making those entries?

Yep, I sure did. I checked the Outlook Notes after I made the changes, and it's not detecting the new notes that I put in the storage card directory. I'm not sure what else to do.
Have people been successful doing this?

If anyone is interested in changing the left soft key on the Today page, the registry key is as follows:
KEY: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Today/Keys/112
String Value: Default -> Name to Display
String Value: Open -> "Path to exe"
For example, I changed Calendar to "Comm Manager" as follows:
Value: Default set to Comm Mgr
Value: Open set to "\Windows\CommManagerLink.exe"
No need to restart phone.
hey, how about the weather icon ? i got no use for it...can that also be remapped ? and which registry editor do you recommend ?..thank you
How about adding the New SMS function
I'v downloaded the "New SMS.lnk" file and had a look at the text in it which is as follows:
49#"\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "SMS" -to ""-body""
Can this be used? I haven't managed so far
Thanks,

Yup, just do not use the 49#.
Can't get it to work.
Name changes fine but application is always Calendar that opens.
On a soft-reset it reverts back to Calendar as per default.
Would you mind checking that it works on your device please?
thanks,
use "softkey aplet" it can change both soft key to any application installed in your device.
Copy softkey.apl into Windows folder an you will find program icon in the setting page. Start-setting-system-soft key
I use this file since WM5 and really not remember who is create this great applet but BIG thanks to them.
and a BIG thanks to you too...works fine
Add that one to my list of indispensibles
I can't fin the windows directory when i'm browsing with windows vista (even by showing hidden files and folders) :/
So i put it into my memory card and tried to move it directly by my Touch but it's like the .CPL file is hidden too.
Any help ? (i'm sorry i'm a rookie at this).
Just tried it on mine with XP
The Show hidden files/folders works fine here.
Maybe Vista?
Can anyone else using vista confirm?
Failing that, copy it to you My Documents folder, then hold your cursor on the screen underneath the last file. You'll get an option to "Show all files"
Can you delete Softkey Applet after you apply the changes?
Thanks, actually i forgot to show systems files into my Touch, i could install it and it worked Great little program !
this is freak'n great thanks!!!

where u got the new sms?
Here are the files
Unzip the NewSMS file and save the .lnk file in your \Windows\Start menu\programs directory
Now install the Soft key Applet .cab and point one of your soft keys to the NewSMS program (I found there were two. One works, one doesn't)
Done

The \Windows folder on your Touch is a system folder, and Vista doesnt display them. Go to folder options, and check the "Show system files" option. No open your Touch on Vista, go to \ and there you go \Windows

erm... how to get to \Windows\Start menu\programs directory? but before save the .ink file, do i need to install any program to support this newsms?
No new prog required to support it lunarken
It's a shortcut to open the sms prog and start with a new, blank message.
If you can't find your Windows folder on the Touch, hold your stylus below the last file in File Explorer and select "Show all files".
If you're running Vista, you apparently ned to make sure you have "Show System files" selected.
It only needs to go in the Windows/Start Menu/Programs folder so that the Soft Key Applet can find it.
Hi All
I'm sure someone will be able to tell me what I am doing wrong
I have loaded Mortscript on to my E650 and have copied a script from this site and saved it as wireless.mscr
When I run the file from Windows explorer - it opens the file in Word on my E650 and does nothing.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Uninstall Mortscript and then reinstall it. I guess it's a matter of file association in the registry.
mortscript
Thanks....have tried that and it still does not work.
Any other ideas?
You must run once the mortscript's executable to create the associations with the mscr files.

yep, ran the yellow file that was located in the \program files\mortscript folder. It gave me a message to say the file associations has been made yet the docs still open in Word !!
AAAARRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!
Try deleting the key at HKCR\.mscr...then opening mortscript.exe Then try to open your script. It deletes the file assc.

Thanks...where would I find the HKCR\.mscr Does that involve editing the registry as have never done it before
Yes this is a registry key. You will need a registry editor Total commander has a free one. Then just navigate to HKey_Classes_Root(hkcr) and locate the folder .mscr open it and delete the key in there..
In order to locate and edit the registry in total commander tap the / in the top right corner of the screen right next to the .. Then double tap on the \\ then double tap on Registry then HKCR then .mscr and delete the key labeled default ,or you could just double tap on it and then in the box provided type MortScript
key
Thanks,
have done as suggested, removed the keys, have removed and reloaded Mortscript. Rebooted phone....and they still open with Word Mobile !!!
Jeez - can it be so hard !!!
When you open that key what does it say.... when you open word go to menu and options and in display....click on word files, i dont think that will work but its worth a try

Hi, Thanks for your help so far
My word seems to be an editor only - as dont have any options to select.
mort
hi
Am getting somewhere now...turns out the file was named wireless.mscr.txt so have edited it to reflect the proper extension. Will try again now
Thanks again
well that makes a lot more sense...since the actual ext that you are opening is a txt. just drop the .txt
It's probably far more simple: You script has the wrong extension. It must be .mscr, not .psw, .doc or .txt. The default Explorer hides the extension, so your file's pobably named "somescript.mscr.psw" (or *.doc) but is shown only as "somescript.mscr". Use an explorer replacement like Total Commander or Resco, or the desktop's Explorer ("My mobile device") with "Hide extension for known documents" disabled in the options, and you'll see the wrong extension.
Edit: Oops, didn't realize there's a second page...
I'm developting an app....
Because I don't run an English rom on my ppc, I need to know how in ENGLISH are called these paths:
1) the folder you see in "Start->programs" (maybe /windows/start menu/programs ??)
2) /program files (the folder where all the programs are installed on device memory... is it correct?)
Thanks in advance...
First is correct.
So is second.

Thanks to both....
Depending on the language you use I would suggest to retrieve the special folder locations/path names with the help of windows.
For C/C++ there is a function called SHGetSpecialFolderPath.
Take a look here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa453707.aspx
How do I extract *.reg files to use with sashimi and UC? Thanks in advance.

Resco reg editor only have the option to import.
CERegistryEditor, download here, you can export/import & edit registry from your PC. Make sure to change the save as extention on exporting. It is defaulted to .cereg.
You can also export .reg-files with Total Commander. Just go to the desired key, select 'Copy' and 'Paste' it on your filesystem to save the key to the desired location.
As you are using SASHIMI, there is a registry editor just inside the programs folder of SASHIMI, and you can use it to import/export any registry, whole key, or single string or dword.
1) Just delete Opera9.exe and OperaL.exe files from Windows directory.
Both these files are copied during hard reset from the rom to the storage memory. As a result of that a functional copy of both files can be found in rom. The original files will be "activated" after deleting these files from the storage memory
2) Soft Reset
Opera will continue to work as previously
If you are unable to delete them, you can use Sktools and "Replaced Rom files" menu
Great tip, works a treat, thanks!
Very helpful, thanks!
Cheers always looking for more install space..

Open Sktools -> Click on Category -> Select Files -> Select Replaced ROM Files -> Check Opera9.exe & OperaL.exe -> Click Action -> Click Restore ROM file
I don't think that you can delete read only files that are included in the ROM.
Even if you delete those Opera files they will probably come back after a soft reset.

There is a double copy of these files, in rom and in storage memory. You delete the files in storage and continue to use the files in rom. Deleted files will be restored after hard reset, not soft reset.

You're probably right! It's gone up by 4.5mb. Thanks for your help and support. Really appreciated!
You can delete it using Total Commander: First rename the 2 files like Opera.old and operaL.old.
Then delete the 2 files :*.old
Daniel
Still cannot delete those 2 files after renaming the extension in Total Commander
Can't find a way how to delete those 2 suckers. They are like trojans in my PC! HA HA can't rid 'em! I guess I'll have to try that SKTools thing!
The same for me.
Can't delete these 2 apps on windows directory.
Using SKTools 4.4.7.13
Thanks for this. I was staring to run a little low!
Nice tip! Thanks. I just renamed them in Resco and moved them to SD. No reset required. Immediately saw the increase in memory and Opera still worked. Of course, doing a reset is still recommended

Same thing here, not able to find Opera files.
Edit: Sorry it was because demo version
i have use sktools for opera and its very good tools
when i look for other possibility of soft i look for storage analyser and i found my document use a lot of storage memory when i look in the music repertorie have copy a part of my mp3 in the storage card of my phone.
perhaps this is the same sytem of album htc.
thank for your very good topic
Worked like a charm
Did that by renaming both files to *.old and then deleting the resulting renamed files using Total Commander. Finally a soft reset.
One of the best hints so far. Thank so much.
I think it should be added to "*Leo Hints & Tips* - Things you may not have known".
