How do I access "Storage" memory (not ExtROM) - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi,
I've just upgraded from an HTC Magician to the HTC Hermes. A change between WM2003 and WM2005 I noticed is in the Settings->Memory screen.
The WM2003 device just listed a total memory use (out of 64 Mb) by both installed files, and program's required RAM.
The WM2003 device also had "Storage" listed in File Explorer.
On the Hermes, there is listed Program separately to Storage.
Currently I have Storage using 12Mb out of 56Mb. Program is using 21Mb out of 29Mb. But I can't work out how to access the Storage! There is no Storage listed in File Explorer..
So.. How do I get to it? I'd rather install my apps to the storage so I can save space for program RAM.

Toby

Only 9mb free Storage main memory. I CAN'T INSTALL LARGE PRG

ActiveSync first (or a .cab for that matter) first copies the files to the MAIN MEMORY STORAGE temp directory and only then, you are asked when would you like the program to be installed.
Since I have just about 9mb of free storage ram on my main memory, I am unable to install 20mb of so programs even if I want to install them on my SD card. Because the WM2005 installed always first copies to a temp dir on the main memory. that's stupid. How can I install large programs to my SD card if I don't have much room on my main memory then?
Help please.
Thanks
MOBILER
look for the cab file first, manually copy it directly to your SD card and run it from that location using explorer.
try reducing your temporary RAM by disabling all of your today plugins and windows startup folder, run your program, then set them back again.
how is it you are running on 9mb, i reset my device when it gets down to 15mb, and usually starts up with 25mb with SPB PP SPB Diary SPB weather and MS Voice Command all running at startup, so how is yours so low?
ACtivesync copy the cab file to SD if your memory is low. I installed many big (20 Mb) programs using it. The normal behaviour is to copy the file without question, then ask on the pocket where you want to install it. When you are low on memory, it ask me on the PC (as it was on previous WM2003 models) where to install, then it copies the file to SD. It usually fail to install, but you can then soft reset and run the cab from the SD.

Any apps to force *.cab file install to storage card?

Any apps to force *.cab file install to storage card?
well you can try to edit the cabs you need with WinCE Cab Manager for hardcode the paths to point in the storage card but some applications are needed to be in or to have parts of them in Windows folder or to run from the device, so this will not work in all applications
so wince doesn't support installing apps in the storage card?
storage gonna be a problem, unlike in smartphone it asks where to install it.
is it possible to save contacts and email, sms, mms messages directly to the storage card? i remember smartphones have a reg hack for that.
thanks.
it asks depending on the cab, most of the cabs i create i adjusted them not to ask where to install if they can not be installed on the storage card. but other cabs ask if you want to install on the device or the storage card
I have this issue with a couple of games 'Hawx' and 'Xtrakt' no matter what I do even selecting the option to install on storage card they install in the Phone Program files.. They both use nerly 15MB of space which is a big chunk of the 200MB available.

in other words: you are in the wrong section
I have 50MB left of the phone storage so 15MB is a lot, I don't see why the game can't be installed on the memory card.
Is there any app that will list where all the space is being used up, I do agree 200MD is quite a bit, but I have cleared out all temp files I can think of..

I guess you did not get my comment... the BA does not have 200 MB of storage, no matter what you do. MemMaid or SKTools might be ale to give you the info that you are looking for.

Memory Question

Well,
My phone has been saying that is has low memory. I have a 2gb card, and want to know how I can clear up the phone, and transfer some temporary files onto the card. maybe some e-mail attachments, and text messages.
I have only installed the following:
-Weather on the go
-Battery Status
-Google Maps
-Streaming Media
I also HAD Pointui installed, but I couldn't uninstall it, so I just went to the folder, and deleted everything. Not under programs (start, programs) I see the Pointui Icons (Home and Update)
How could I get rid of these Icons?
Thanks a lot guys!
find a program called CLEARTEMP
What do you guys use to download software for the Wing?
What do u mean?
There are plenty of PPC websites out there.
OK,
I downloaded it, and cleared some unused stuff. But My memory is still pretty full.
Is there a way to move some programs to the memory card without un-installing, and installing them back on.
Storage:
Total: 39.44 MB
In Use: 38.02 MB
Free: 1.42 MB
Program:
Total: 43.87 MB
In Use: 35.61 MB
Free: 8.26 MB
Flash to a different ROM with lots of Storage.
That should give you atleast a good result.
If you are using the Stock ROM flashing a new one will give you a lot more space and speed
Also you can try moving some programs to the storage card, set your pictures/videos to be saved on Storage Card and maybe change your PagePool to free up a bit more Program Memory
You can use a program called Pocket Mechanic to relocate programs from the main memory to the storage card.
If you are still using the stock rom, I would definitely suggest you flash a new one... you'll be amazed at the different in speed, storage, stability ..etc..
What memory do yopu want to clean up? The storage or program memory?
To clear the storage memory use cleartemp and oxios hibernate. Google for both, cuz you can download the as freeware. Select in the various applications (camera/rsshub/mail) your SD-card as default storage.
To clear the program memory use Pochet Mechanic (trialversion) to move the programdirectory to your sd card or reinstall your programma's to your sd-card

RE: Pocket Mechanic....
Do you guys happen to know if you can relocation programs from main memory to the storage card that were installed in main memory originally by the ROM? I'm guessing no, but worth asking....

how to get more device space

ok I just got my diamond, and I had 43MB of free space, after installing xmods HD, and S2A, I only have 3 mb left, what can I uninstall to get more space???
I need like 6 more megs to install sprint picture mail cab and S2U2
1. kill your operator rom and update your rom with an optimized one (use the search!)
2. install software on storage card
try to use third part software, e.g. SKTools. Then use it for optimizing registry, clean orphan files and shortcuts, temporary files from Opera and others.
Try to store e-mail attachments at Internal Storage, short messages (SMS) as well.
Try to delete unnecessary files from main memory in My Documents folder. If you want to store some own music or ringtones - use My documents at Internal Storage.
BTW - don't try to delete files if you are not sure what it exactly is!!!
With SKTools you can move installed apps, like Google Maps (12mb), to the "Internal Storage".
I install some aplications in internal memory, but i find out that my device memory is reduced.. Why? Can i do anything for this? The reason for installing a game in internal is because i dont have much memory in device. But device memory is also reduced .. I cant understand it..
Ι made a mistake in the above , i install in internal storage , not internal memory that i wrote , but device memory is also reduced..
What does it mean?
If you install some apps in internal memory it would be "steal" exactly some internal memory.
But why can;t you install it into Internal Storage? Do you mean you have less than 4 GB Internal Storage? or you have a lot of stuff there?
There is no way to put files somewhere else: Internal Storage or Main memory...
I've just read my data: Program Memory: 38.45 MB free, Data storage 83.7 MB free (22.85 MB busy)....
I put to main memory only three or four apps (touchLock pro, Gscroll, and ... I don't remember)....
Other apps -> Internal Storage.
I know what takes so much memory. Extracted themes to TF3D. You know where I find every old unpacked themes?
I had a lot of them and each time after the installation of another theme in the place of my missing memory. I thought that these files are exchanged, but apparently it is not.

Storage Memory very low.

In Settings\System\Memory it is showing that I only have 6.26MB of storage memory free out of 43.5 total. When I click on the storage card tab it shows Storage as 9.93 total 9.09 in and only 0.84 Free. I have looked in file explorer and the storage is full of .CAB files a lot of the names start with Signed_UNI_o2UK_. Can someone tell what these may be and do I still need them as I have flashed the ROM.
This now causing problems with eWallet as the sync with PC seems to use the storage area for the temp files and there is now not enough space to do this. Does anyone know how to get more storage memory. I have tried moving some of the Signed_UNI_o2UK_ files but they are write protected. Any help would be gratefully received.
It would be good to know what ROM are you using
If it´s a WM6.5 it´s normal that you have low RAM free as it´s very heavy
Try installing a 6.1 ROM
