I think this would be awesome because it is also the menu button for most applications. Like in Outlook you can check email one handed easier if this is doable.
Hit SIDE OK to bring up start menu
Scroll to Outlook
Click Scroll
Click PTT to bring up menu
Scroll to Send/Receive
Click Scroll
Is this doable or done? And do you think it would be cool?

If there is already an e-mail in your inbox, you can use the wheel (press and hold it) to bring up the menu and then scroll down to Send and Receive and press the wheel once. If there is no e-mail in the inbox, then you need to use the right softkey to bring up the menu.
Some other shortcuts and tricks: If you have the inbox on your Today screen, you can use the wheel to highlight it and select it without using the Start menu (you probably knew that one). Also, using the Inbox hard button, you can bring up the inbox. Pressing that button when you are in the messaging app will scroll through all you e-mail accounts (like pressing the 5-way d-pad while in messaging).
Thanks for the tips.
The hack to make the PTT button doesn't allow you to map it to the right soft key. It lets you do it but when you press the button, a prompt comes up saying that is not possible.
But the click and hold on an e-mail message to do the send/receive works great.
Thanks.

I just got a new TyTN and I just have a simple question.
Is there no direct way to get to calender when I get a fone call and want to look up my appointments in calender. Same applies when I'm in Contacts or Calender and want to get to the other one.
Is Start (windows button), scroll down to Calender the shortest way?
Use the start menu.
When Im in a call I just press the menu button and select calendar.
It normally works.
If you don't have the calendar in the menu it's just a matter of going to settings menu and put it there.
Regards,
Jose

I use the OK button, then the phone screen disapears and I have the today screen on the phone, from there you have it all. To go back to phone mode, just press the green call button.
I have the Cingular 8125. The Notes program, which is a part of Office Mobile, is a program I access quite often.
How do I assign that program to the Message button on the top left corner of my phone? When I go to Settings/Buttons to assign a program to that key, Notes is not an option.
Thanks
wow, at least yours came with the option under settings. i have no such option. so i downloaded RemapSoftKeys http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1352951&postcount=311 now you just have to find Notes. its listed as notetake under the windows folder.
on my wing I have the messaging button set to open up my messaging accounts and there was a couple of times when it randomly unassigned itself from the messaging key so i had to goto settings > buttons to fix it. Now it unassigned itself again from the messaging key but in the list to assign programs to buttons 'messaging' is not there anymore so i cant set it to a button. So could anyone help me with this problem please?
Thanks alot in advance

hello.
i am unable to look for contacts during an active call.
may be i am unware of hw to do tht, but would be highly greatful if sumone helps me out in sorting this out..
Instructions to veiw contacts while on a Call.
while on the call screen,
1. Press Menu button on bottom left.
2. Tap "Add Call"
3. Then look @ bottom of the screen and you should see contacts, along with call log and other options.
Or the easier way is to use the Google Search bar.
Its on my home screen.
Send a message if you don't understand, or still have problems and I will call you to walk you through it, while on the phone with me

hi can anyone tell me how to search for contacts in the search key?
(the 4 keys on the tab)
i press search key
i type my contacts name
it asks me which browser i want to use 'to complete the action'??
i have the search settings to only search apps and contacts but it keeps trying to open a browser
i can see the contact behind the browser i want to use 'to complete the action' screen, but cant get to it, pressing back key just exits search?
baffled!!
Press search button on your tab, press the "g" google button in the top left corner and a drop down menu lets you select which criteria you want the search function to be available for...
There is a grey option button top right in that lets you select/add searchable items. In your case make sure "Contacts" is ticked. The searched for contacts appear at the bottom of your search list.
e.g. if you want to search your messages too then tick "Messaging"
Hope this helps ;-)
