Program for searching - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

1, What is the best program for searching PPC?
2, What is best program for alarm?
I know that both programs exist already in TyTN WM5, but I'm searching for better alternatives.

Regarding alarm:

Regarding Searching: (Requires .Net CF V2.0 available same page)

Thank you very much for your advice. I tried them all (alarm programs) and found that PocketAlarm was the best.
Regarding Searching: Do you know of any program which does not require .Net CF V2.0?

Visual Basic Runtime

Hi all,
does anyone know if there is trick to install Microsoft Visual Basic runtime in my Universal (JasJar) ?
Thanks
nicoska
There is no VB Runtime for Windows Mobile. The closest you can do is installing The .NET Compact Framework, but you will not be able to run VB Scripts or VB applications on a Windows Mobile device. At least not now anyway.

Is a SyncML client for PocketPC and when i tap on it ask me to install Visual Basic Runtime.
It's possible ?
thanks

Interesting. I went there and noticed it is for PPC 2003. I tried installing it (but didn't let it go through)
It did look like it was going to install some VB Runtime for PPC. (It showed up on the screen)
Check your add/remove programs and see if it's in there. If it is, then it probably doesn't work with WM 2005.
Good luck

Yes, indeed. This should be a eMbedded VB Runtime, which works with WM 2003.
Visual Studio 2005 should be delivered me in the next days, and for all I read by now this will include a VB environment for WM 2005. Possibly this will be compatible to... oh wait! We're talking about Microsoft, aren't we? So, forget this about compatibility...
Yeah. I tried to create an app in eMbedded VB and it didn't work out of the box on WM 2005. I have used VS2005 and created a couple apps in VB and they work, but I needed to install the MS CF 2.0 and that was it.
I had assumed that WM 2005 was supposed to have CF 2.0, but mine did not. I also have a Qtek 9100, not a 9000. So the Jasjar's and 9000's may have it already.
thanks a lot.
Please let me know when you get the vb runtime for wm5, so then i can check if sync ml works.
bye

which app? the VS2005 one? Or the eMbedded VB one?
I actually don't have the eMbedded VB one anymore.
I'll attach this simple one created in VB off of VS2005. It just powers off or resets the device. (It is not signed)
Also if you are just curious about the CF runtime you can run \Windows\cgautil.exe and it will pop up with all the versions of the Framework. Mine only has 1.0 by default. After installing 2.0 it shows both.
I was using a bunch of VB apps on my jamin (prophet) without any problem, and all of a sudden when I try to open them i get; "there is no application associated etc."
Anyone has any clue about that? Can I install (or re-install) visual basic on wm5?
Thanks all

Voice Note Freeware Programme for WM 5?

I cannot use the excellent programme "NoteM 1.21" with my Hermes (MDA Vario II) because it does not run. I suspect it is not WM5 compatible. Even if it were, it does not, in any event, run on my device. I am rather dissatisfied with the embedded Voice Note functionality.
Is there an alternative? I am looking for sth that converts my Hermes into a "tape recorder" as well as possible given that it must be freeware. Tried to search on google, but nothing useful turned up.
Thanks for any hints (would even appreciate commercial software in the absence of any freeware alternative)
Michael
I don't know any alternative but I have tested NoteM 1.21 both on WM5 and WM6 and it works without any problems.

J2ME PIM JSR-75 for TyTn WM5 possible?

I have been trying to use JSR-75 API for a J2ME application on my SPV M3100. It seems the PIM api is not on the phone :-( even though it is MDIP 2.0 and CLDC 1.1 compliant...
Firstly, it would be great if someone else could confirm this!!!! I have only found one other place on the net to verify it, so another few would help!
Secondly... has anyone managed to successfully use the JSR-75 PIM functionality on this device (or similar)? I have also installed the ibm J9 code, but this too did not give me access to the phone's contacts list, as I wanted
PHUH!
I am sure there is an easy answer to some of this and I m just missing a part of the puzzle
Many Thanks
Sanjay
If the Intent software doesn't support that JSR, then there's nothing you can do about it. The latest WM6 ROMs have a slightly newer version of MIDlet Manager, maybe it supports JSR-75. You could also try the version of Java that comes with NetFront.

Activate bluetooth from vb.net application

hi, I have made a small application to retreive nmea information from my bluetooth GPS on my HTC Tytn phone ( wm6 )
I developped it using microsoft visual studio 2008 pro avec wm6 pro sdk.
I would like to include a button to activate/desactivate the bluetooth from my application, any idear how I could do that plz ?
You'll find native functions and description in the SDK-Help.
Anyway, bluetooth is not simple to handle.
I'd recommend to use a freeware called 32feet to use bluetooth functions in .NET.
I's a library which does the wrapping of native DLL-functions to .NET.
You can find it on codeplex.com.
But keep in mind that it is not guaranteed to work properly, because there are 3-4 different bluetooth stacks on the market and the library does not work with all of them.
Hi,
if I good remeber someone on XDA have made some library to enable/disable BT/Wifi/Phone, and it was make in C# or VB... and there was near 1 or 2 month ago.
I don't know how to find his post but the good users could help you...
Sorry for this little help Hope you'll find !
I've been messing around with the 32Feet libraries (6.1 Touch Cruise with MS stack) and found them to be very useful and reliable so far. But the may be overkill for simply turning Bluetooth on and off. VJVolubilis (http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJVolubilis) may give you what you want but it looks to be only compatible with the MS stack too.
