I currently hvae a Cingular 8125 that I unlocked (thanks to this forum and lokiwiz) and am now using with my T-Mobile Service. Anyway, I can send and receive text messages without a problem, but not MMS. Sending, not sure, but receiving is a no-no on my end. It will not download. I set it up according to T-Mobile's configuration settings, but there was one thing that I couldn't do, and that was have it connect via T-Mobile GPRS. Rather, it's trying to connect via Cingular's MediaNet.
Question: How would I go about using T-Mobile's GPRS option if it is not listed under the drop down menu?
I'm sure it's a noob question. I searche and can't find an answer.

I downloaded the T-Mobile (NL) application for PPC2002 ("T-Mobile GPRS Connect") which should take care of the GPRS connections, but it does not work. It keeps complaining about not able to open the modem connection (I'm using the Cellular Line modem): "Can not find the name of the serial port".
Anybody any ideas?
It is a nice utility which displays the speed, send/received bytes and connection time, but useless sofar...

hey marco,
i bought a t-mobile pocket pc in the US and unlocked it. With my vodafone sim i now can do everythinh with the device. So I know how to make a GPRS connection to Vodafone, but don't know the settings for t-mobile.
A few days ago I also tried to install t-mobile app. but it sucks. I suggest you try to find out the correct settings with t-mobile nl to make a descent GPRS setting and not use the t-mobile application

I have a tmobile MDA that is unlocked and working great. My work just issued us cellphones attached to a CINGULAR plan. I put the sim into my MDA and everything seems to work right.
The only thing that does not work right is DUN (Dial-Up Networking) ... with the t-mobile sim in there (also unlocked) I am able to dial up to my ISP and obtain a (albeit slow) connection that I can use for the rare time that I want to get on the internet and check something. When I use the same connection with the cingular sim installed, it says that there is no modem at the number.
Any ideas? Should I also unlock the cingular sim? Should I use a cingular rom on my phone? Does cingular block DUN connections? I really would like to cancel my personal t-mobile and go with completely free cellphone service, as I tend to enjoy things that are free.
You just need to configure your internet settings to Cingular settings. If you go to Cingular.com and look under support>device/phone support & choose the 8125 as your phone. Then click on internet/browser settings. Follow the onscreen instructions and you will be able to connect to Cingular's EDGE/GPRS with your MDA.
Don't modify your current settings if you plan on still using your T-Mobile SIM. Just start a new connection with all of Cingular's stuff. That way when you're using the T-Mobile card just switch the connection to T-Mobile's settings and when you're using the Cingular SIM switch over to Cingular's settings. 8)
Not exactly what i was asking
I was referring to Dial-Up Networking, not GPRS/EDGE ... I am able to dial into a DIALUP ISP and connect to it just as I am able to from a regular PC.
This way I am able to get free (well, almost. It still uses my minutes) internet, albeit at slower than standard dialup speeds.
Is your company paying for unlimted data on the Cingular plan or just allowing you to use minutes? I've never attempted to use DUN for a 3rd party providor, but using Cingular as an ISP(GPRS/EDGE) should be better than than using someone else... I'm not sure how businesses get by without offering/using data packages these days.
yes
I dial into a service called nocharge.com.
I am in California, and the service is based in Washington, but since minutes are minutes, regardless long distance, I am able to get free (sort of) dialup internet through nocharge.com.
So this is something that no one has tried? That amazes me.
doesn't Cingular still have it's own dialup number to use?
have you tried testing it out with settings such as the ones in the link below?
http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cach...90+cingular+8125+csd&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=1
i believe t-mobile disabled its csd by now so not sure if this will work but its worth a shot as a test...
man csd at a max speed of 9.6kbps would kill me i can barely pull up any websites using t-mo's EDGE
if you cant get the above link to work try searching for "cingular 8125 csd" on google...there is quite a bit of hits
I'm using the cingular 8125 on tmobile
the 8125 and MDA are the exact same device with different software (and of course exterior case). If you download the lastest cingular rom (which you should be able to find the offical one here on xda) and after syncing all your contacts etc, load the cingular rom from your desktop pc and it will guide you through flashing a new rom onto your wizard (aka 8125, MDA, etc).
You will have all the settings as if you had actually bought an 8125.

I have just received my new TyTN. I have no idea how to enter the settings for GPRS and / or HSDPA. Can anyone point me in the right direction. i was told because I am on the old ATT Charter Plan, my settings would be a little different than the regular cingular. Thanks in advance
I am assuming you mean Cingular in the US. If that's the case .. please check this thread out ..

I do not understand this enough to decipher your notes. Would you, or someone else be willing to help me out a bit and explain it, or walk me through it.
Thanks
Ok..I really need help and I hope someone is willing. I do not understand this stuff enough to figure out what the post above was.
I am making calls. Surfing the web, but I can not send Text Messages.
Would someone be kind enough to treat me like the moron I am, and explain what settings I need and where to enter them.
I am still on the ATT network and have not switched over to a cingular plan. I have the old ATT charter plan with unlimited data. Thanks in advance

Anytime I have switched to another unlocked GSM phone my TXT messaging always worked by default (someone correct me if I am wrong) but the message desk # is in the SIM Card.
I have the same exact plan as you do and probably the same SIM (blue one)
Does TXT messaging work on other phones?
I called Customer Service and they had accidently turned off the text messaging. Now I can send, but I still can not get pics.
to make matters worse, I can not connect to the Internet. I keep getting a message that says,
"Cannot conect for an unknown reason....."
Before speaking to customer service, I could connect. I had not entered any settings and I could connect.
I tried the above settings and get the same message.
Anyone have any suggestions?
ring them back and tell them they have prob switched you data plan off lol

Java - Would you believe that is exactly what happened? They "accidentally" turned it off. I had a number of blunders like that with them. I do wonder if it is because I still have the old ATT Charter Plan. I have unlimited phone everything for $99 and unlimited data for $24.99. They keep trying to make me switch, but I am like NO WAY. Stuff like this keeps happening to me. I do wonder if they do on purpose.
Hey all - just got my unlocked wizard from ebay... it's a t-mobile device (has t mobile logo on it) but receives calls etc fine when I put in my att sim card, says its on ATT network, etc.
Only thing it is having trouble doing is connecting to the mobile data (it says its trying to connect to t mobile MMS - GPRS)... how do I set this device to connect to att's data network (i dont think they use gprs do they?) so I can send MMS messages?
Also.. my exchange provider said I need to upgrade my software on the mobile device if I want to use exchange push email... I need to get the "AKU2" update... now when I do this, if available, do I get this from ATT (because they are my provider) or t-mobile (because the device is t-mobile) ??
Thanks for reading the newbie questions... love the device though!

also, i'm not upgrading from a former at&t plan.. my sim card says cingular, then they became ATT... so i was just saying ATT because cingular is now ATT
so I have a cingular sim card trying to access cingular/att network with the t-mobile device. Can you advise per my original post given this info?
See if I hit your link... following the docs...I don't have (GPRS/3G) as a choice... just Cellular Line (GPRS) .. what can I do??
Under where it says "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:", select "New".
General Tab:
Enter a name for these settings: mMode
Modem Tab:
Add “New”.
Enter a name for the connection: mMode
Select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
I use a T-Mobile MDA on the AT&T network as well, using a Cingular SIM.
A quick way to set the Media settings on the MDA is by running "Cingular WAP MediaNet MMS Settingsv2.cab" linked here.
If that link doesn't work, it's attached in the second post of this thread.
Thanks!
The .CAB worked like a charm.

Hi all,
I just managed to flash HTCAsia WWE ROM onto my Dual Touch which was T-Mobile branded in Dutch, thanks to the NIKI project and some other good people. I use this opportunity toexpress my gratitude. But, since then, even I managed to pick up connection settings for my current provide (Orange), every time I try to send MMS or connect to the Internet using GPRS, I get the same message: "Answering modem has diconnected. There is a problem connecting to the GPRS service in your registered home network." I have called Orange customer service, and according to their instructions my connection and MMS settings are correct. Is it possible thatsomething is wrong with new ROM, or my GPRS service is not available for some reason.
Thanks.
