.NET CF Problems

Hi,
Ive got 5 CAB files which all go together to run a little program i have written, however, when installing them on my XDA IIS every one of them displays the message 'The program you installed may not display properly because it was designed for a previous version of windows Mobile software'. I think these errors may become a problem when i place it in the Extended Rom folder.
the files are as follows
- OpenNETCF.PPC3.ARM
- MyProgram_PPC.ARM.CAB
- sql.ppc3.arm.CAB
- sqlce.dev.ppc3.arm.CAB
- sqlce.ppc3.arm.CAB
Any suggestions would be great!

Hi LinQ
The problem is that the OpenNETCF and SQL CAB files were built for WM2003 and _NOT_ WM2003SE. This means that WM2003SE cannot verify that they will work correctly with features such as the screen rotation facility.
To stop your app from coming up with the same message, you need to download the WM2003SE SDK from MS (haven't got a link sorry... but google for it and you should find it) and then target your application at the new WM2003SE device option that you get.

hello pplz. i jus upgraded my device 2 windows mobile 2005.please help me with certain issues.
1>the sim manager duznt work at all sum message abt reinstaling it.
2>my computer doesnt recognize the xda 2?i have active sync3.8 and windows xp service pack 1.i tried updating xp it says sp2 cannot install.
3>i want to restore my device from the backup i created when i had wm2003 se . is it possible
4>my biggest problem is activesync please help me i need 2 sync my device

1 yeah that seem to be the case for everybody
problem is that the applications are not compatible with 2005
if new ones will be released i dont know being that
htc dont plan on making an official release of 2005 for anything but
universal and that being a 3G phone i dont know if it have have the sim options of gsm phones or if they will be used under 3g it having so many other options and all
2 activesync 4 is what you want it's on ms site or on the ftp
3 it have never been possible with other CE versions changes like 2002 to 2003 or 2003 to 2003SE so i doubt that you can

1. run \windows\simupload.exe
2. Upgrade to activesync 4 (you'll need XP with SP2 installed)
3. No, not possible. You can try if you want, but it'd mess up the file structure of your device it'd be all but unusable and you'd have to do a hard reset

Upgrade Powermap ROM with Vista 64 (=without activesync) but windows mobility center

Hi Folks,
I tried to upgrade my P3300 to the nice Crossbow looking Dopod P800W rom.
It's an exe file and gives the following 2 problems:
1> Rapi.dll not found (activesync nescessary)
2> Sleep4.exe is not compatible with Vista 64
I tried to install,but cannot due to that windows mobility should take over the activesync function. I also put the rapi.dll in system folder but not solved.
I extracted the Powermap.exe rom and found the powermap .nba file.
Is there any method to put this rom image on my HTC without activesync ?
I wonder if anyone tried to upgrade rom through Vista and had the same 2 above errors and how it was solved?
Powermap rom looks awesome, and maybe a solution for us P3300 owners to enjoy the Crossbow look already. If HTC puts the crossbow rom on their downloadsection it would be great offcourse. Let's hope.
I hope I don't need to put XP again on a partition to perform this rom upgrade or visit a friend. I think the reason maybe is that this powermap rom was made when vista was not released yet. It still is based on activesync.

suggest you do your upgrade on Windows XP machine (ie visit a friend). then you can use your device on Vista. i heard, it is technically possible to do upgrading on Vista, but as experience of many people shows it's not a straightforward thing. try searching these forums for "vista" and you'll see what i'm talking about. it's relevant to all devices, not only 3300/ good luck!

Let me remind you guys that there is problem with restoring from backup file on PDAMobiz ROMs (I use Spb Backup). Make sure you have it sync with Outlook on your desktop !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have just completed my first XDA program using VB.Net 2005 and have targeted to a Pocket PC 2003, which is the operating system of the XDA but I get this message what can I do? VB.Net does not have any other options for Pocket PC 2003.

My personal rants aside, try installing .NET CF 2.0 I know by default that is what VS 2005 uses and WM 2003 devices only have CF 1.0 / 1.1 in ROM.

You may well be right given the problems I am having but sadly it’s the only one I know and I quite frankly was well happy when I manged to create this my first mobile app which works great on the emulator

I have tried your fix fix but my XDA does not like it and comes back with the message
The File “\windows\appmgr\install\microsoft.net\CF 2.0.CAB” is not a valid Windows CS Setup file
Am I doing something wrong

Thats odd. Only thing I can think of is try and re-download the installation from here.

No, done it again with the same result.
Do you know the exact file name for the correct cab and then I can perhaps search my hard drive and manually copy it to the XDA and execute it there

the rom 2.03 WWE is windows mobile 2003, customized...
it is not windows mobile 5 or 6.

i find this rom very intersting but it lacks pocket excel, although it has pocket word.

I Edit The CAB File to Run on Magician (Edit with WinCE Cab Manager) Because Some People said that this Office Edition Compatible with Windows Mobile 2003 but Downloaded File Not Run on My Device

I edited the cab file, ran it on my device (2.03TX rom), it installed properly, but excel and word still don't work.
You have uninstall option on remove programs.

i finally got an alternative for office mobile! Softmaker office 2006.
Works great on my magician with 2.03TX rom!

well,i found softmaker office too, but i think this software takes bigger space & memory in our magician than original poc.excel ?
what do you think? im ready to flash mine with 2.03, just waiting for this issue. thanks

you're right, it takes more memory than original pocket excel.
i have a "version" of softmaker office wich doesn't need instalation, so i keep it on my sd card, and it only take about 6 or 7 mb.
anyway, i steel prefer to use softmaker office, because it doesn't need to convert windows office files via active sync, it's fully compatible with excel and word 2003...
