Sounds nice, pics please?

very nice! on my qvga device the clock is over the battery and volume indicators but it's only a cosmetic bug.

I haven't got the problem. Usuing WM2003SE Seems to work like a charm..
thanks

You must set time format is "HH:mm:ss tt" or "hh:mm:ss tt", if you went to options, you must soft-reset your device

Hi!
Where did you get the device lock utility on your today screen? I have only seen this utility on WM5.
PK

Thanks, very nice!
I can now stop using Spb Plus totally!
BTW, I find the Exceptions input method in options rather difficult to use, i.e. we need to know the full path of the executable file to put it in. Hope you can improve on that.
Thanks once again.

I'm sory for full guide.
1. Add Program to Exception list:
- When in running program, show popup-menu (by tap and hold on [x] botton or tap on popup button) then tap on Add to Exceptions button (5th button).
- Or, in option, choice Exceptions tab. Fill file name (case-sensitive and include ext.) and tap on [Add]
2. Add Program to Favorites list:
- When in running program, show popup-menu (by tap and hold on [x] botton or tap on popup button) then tap on Add to Favorites button (6th button).
- Or, in option, choice Favorites tab. Fill file name, full path and tap on [Add]
3. Change Time format.
When you go to Option, time format is changed to "hh:mm:ss tt". If you want to manual change, plz go to Setting->System->Regional Settings->Time.

Even I have change the time format as recommended but still I lost the volume, Signal strength icon. Pls help

Thank you very much, cool program!

2 Ideas for Improving the task manager:
I don't like to use Clear type on General on my PPC, but it would help very much If you could activate it only for this plugin in the settings.
It would help the QVGA users.
It would be cool to minimze the popup with a tap on the triangle.

WOW
Works great! Keep up the great work. One question. How can I change the date format in the bar from 5/12 to 12/5. I guess us americans like it backwards for the rest of the world.

Thanks for the instructions.
What is the difference between 1st and 2nd button?
On the top bar, what is the 2nd, 3rd and 4th button for?

One feedback which I forgot to add in my earlier post, when I have a program open, e.g. sktools, within sktools are individual utilities. If I press the "x" button, it not only closes the individual utility but closes sktools as well. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks.

pBar can not close a word document. I tap "ok" and nothing happens.

Great app you have!
One suggestion is to allow the user to attach pBar to a hardware button, makes things easier!
Thx!

i'm getting an error message during startup stating "the file 'pBar' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of it's components cannot be found". I have the .exe file in /windows and have the launch on startup box checked. Any Ideas?

Been soft resetting and using for many days already, no such problem until last night, I did a soft reset and left the O2 IIs aside and went to sleep. When I woke up this morning and on the O2, it had the above error message. A soft reset again did not have the problem again. Strange!

[new release] VJPhoneShortcuts

Install this app on WM5 devices to have a shortcut to the call history and speed dial screen.
V
hey vijay
just dropping a line to say that the stuff you're putting together is simply fantastic!
btw, not sure if there's an app for this but just in case; any chance you can make a shortcut for activating the speakerphone (instead of having to press the green button for like 3 sec)
cheers
Robson, did it work ok?
I've not looked into the speaker phone issue for a while. I know on the Magician it was considered a non software issue. On WM5 it might be software based, so I'll try to look into it.
Do you think I should mod this software to access speed dials etc as well? That might be a bit useful, save us all one click in this busy life we lead (I just finished reviewing 300,000 pages of documents at work, so it's not as much of a joke as i might like!)
V
hey v,
yup it works. i did have a little problem on finding the exe icon; when i installed the cab the icon was not present in the programs folder. so i used file explorer to find the folder "vijay555" in the program files. from there i simply copied the exe icon back to my programs folder.
i think wm2005 was designed to be directed on the 1 hand approach. i use claunch for pasting shortcuts on the today screen. i actually got that from one of your posts i have a folder where it has shortcuts to the calendar, tasks, email, messaging, etc. the app you designed (call history) could go here. if you were to make more shortcuts like speed dial i guess it would be useful.
however, for me what i did was i only use 3 today plugins and those are; bt profile, claunch and systeminfo. claunch allows you to put icons in several folders. i kept the first folder clear of any icons. by enlarging the size of the folder to have it occupy 80% of my screen; i can then keep my today screen clean. the succeeding folders are for tools, games, microsoft and communication; they're loaded with shortcuts. the last folder has shortcuts to my inbox, calendar and task. if there were shortcuts to the phone app, i would then have to click on the folder title to access it and then click on the shortcuts. it would then take 2 clicks to access the speed dial or call history app. given that wm2005 gives you a task bar with the phone and contacts, it would take the same amount of clicks to access the previously mentioned phone apps.
for people having shortcuts directly seen on their today screen, then surely having icons for speed dial and others would help since it'll take them only 1-click.
cheers
rob
I agree, I'll try to knock up the speed dial page as well when I get a mo.
I think you've seen my Today screen,

I originally made VJSMS and VJDialer because I missed dialing from the "today" screen as I could with my p900.
I never touch the "programs" menu to launch stuff, I use SmallMenu for anything in my start menu; the rest is pretty much on my Today screen.
cLaunch has everything I think i could need as a launcher for thumb friendly use; my plugin VJEphemeris is an expansion of that idea, basing everything around the thumb and readability.
The threads on Wisbar Advance Desktop etc are also quite cool, but for my purposes I don't typically need to launch more than say 10 apps, eg inbox, calendar, VJSMS, etc. For more than that, I'm probably using an app that needs the stylus, and for those purposes I have SmallMenu (for full startmenu) and ProgramMenu (for just important apps used on the go) as launchers (both can be used with the dpad, so even the stylus is optional!)
So a combination of claunch and SmallMenu is very usable I think!
V
Guys, this has been updated to include a shortcut to the WM5 speed dial page.
It was a request, but later I'll finish it with WM2003 and WM5 support and some other shortcuts. Later

Guys, this is a shortcut for the OK/Close button. Assign it to a hardware key.
It's not fully tested, and might just not be worth releasing, but please test it and tell me if it's terrible. Problem is that certain apps need a special case so I can't test all Please report if there are any apps it doesn't work with.
VJOkButt
V
I just realised, and forgot to mention, that VJOkButt can be used as a simple task killer.
So, if you're in an app and don't want to minimise it, but properly close it, pressing the key assigned to VJOkButt will kill the app properly. So it's an improvement on the standard close button I hope. For those that like a lean memory map :wink:
V
Guys, I've updated VJOkButt.exe slightly. Slightly smaller and will close the phone and other stubborn apps also.

V
can you add command line option

added
i'm map it on redbutton with aebuttonplus, then my jam is recive incoming call and i'm trying to reject it - phone is closing, but jam is still ringing...
Nitrogen, I don't advise you to map it to the red button. The red button is designed to hang up. VJOkButt just simulates pressing OK or Close appropriately. So closing the phone app makes no difference to the fact that the phone is ringing (the phone will ring even when the phone is suspended etc, it acts independantly of the phone app).
I map it to a spare button and use it as a quick ok/close. Phone buttons are for the phone... you can use my program VJKeyPress to simulate the red button on another key if you need to, but I guess that would defeat the object. Although you could put the emulated red key on a menu etc if you needed to, or WDA etc.
I don't use WDA. Is "DesktopWisBarWindow" the caption for the window?
I would also need the caption for Wisbar. I guess if necessary I can install it and grab them, but if you know the captions it'd be useful.
Minimize: hmm. Do you mean override default closing functionality to minimize instead? That's doable. But to do double tap detection is a pain and restricts you only to hardware key usage, which is not the intended function of the app, just one usage of it.
V
Guys, I've updated VJOkButt.exe to make it compatible with the control panel and wisbar / WDA.

RE
vijay555,
Your VJOKButt closes per application? Do you have one that closes ALL applications at one go.
One other thing. I've used HandySwitcher to close stubborn button like the phone and you know what? After closing the phone the phone just doesn't work!
I think it would be nice to have a list of 'Ignore List' whereby applications can be specified not to be closed.
It would be nice if the VJOKButt and the CloseALL Butts (if any) can be put in the system tray
Just make them WM5 compatible
Thanks
RE
vijay555,
I just tested your VJOKButt.
It closes an application when the application is open
If you open several applications and wanted to close, say, the 3rd application then there's no way to cycle to the 3rd application to close it.
My suggestion is to have a drop down menu when I click the VJOKButt on the Start button so that I can choose the application to close
I hope you do develop a task manager incorporating the VJOKButt, a close all one, with an 'Ignore List' and ability for application selection for individual closing.
Thanks
FOSA, I would love to do this, and am working on this with a long term view, but there's very little point in me rehashing what's already been done I think.
Magic Button would do pretty much exactly what you describe. VJOkButt is basically just a small emulation/expansion of the ok/close button. It's useful to me that it closes apps, but I already use smallmenu as my taskmanager. it's just quicker for me to close dialogs etc with VJOkButt. Again, I could write a taskswitcher, but such things already exist, and it's not my intention to challenge the existing "state of knowledge"!
If you have some ideas specific to just ok/closing, I'll happily try to incorporate them. Otherwise, I can only say that my vaguely planned out taskswitcher will be something very different to those available!
I can and probably will write a close all button. That'd be useful. In which case, I suppose I have to write exceptions...
Have you tried closing the phone with VJOkButt and reusing it? Works ok for me...
And it should be WM2003 and WM5 already
V
RE
Hi vijay555,
Thanks for the quick reply.
I'm using the QTEK 9000 ( a variant of the Universal) running WM5
Frankly, I've used Magicbutton and HandySwitcher and I'm not pleased with their performance.
When you've Pocket Hack Master (PHM) installed the problem will come in. You'll have to put PHM on their 'Ignore List' or 'Not-to-Close List' or whatever name they use. Sometimes after making phone calls you'll see the stubborn phone icon appears on their program and upon closing it the phone application also closes. Another irritating thing is the PHM icon. Sometimes when you closes ALL the applications the PHM will also close even if you already specified it in the 'Ignore List'
MagicButton and HandySwitcher, IMO, still have some bugs to be resolved. Since you've developed the VJOkButt I'm thinking that maybe you can also come out with a task manager
Your VJOkButt closes the phone application OK but thats not what I meant in using MagicButton and HandySwitcher. The problem is that a phone icon apperar in the program and when closing it will render the phone inoperable
Thanks
RE
Hi,
I just had a run of VJOKButt with my phone. I made a call from my contacts page and after that I use your program to close thw phone.
On the next opening of the contacts page again I tried to make a call out but this time UNSUCCESSFUL! In short, the phone is dead
I have to soft reset in order to get the phone up again
FOSA:
I wrote a program called VJTogglePhone or something to unload or load the phone. This removes it from memory. Reloading it requires you to expressly run cprog.exe or just press the green button.
VJOkButt used the same code to unload the phone. This potentially saves memory, but also causes the phone to pause for a second or two when it needs to reload. Dialing from contacts does not reload the phone app. So it just sits there if you try to dial from Contacts.
I've updated it now to merely minimize the phone app. Should work, but remember, if you want to unload the phone, use VJTogglePhone.
Regarding the task switcher thing. I'll think about it, but probably won't have time to code it yet. Have to finish 90% of all of my other programs I've started and not finished. Better to finish them off first

[new release] VJOkButt

Guys,
This is a spinoff from my VJPhoneShortcuts app. However, it's useful on its own, even for those without a phone.
This app is designed to be assigned to a hardware key or to be used with a program like SmallMenu or Xbar.
It will simulate pressing the OK button or Close button.
Note: it will close apps, not minimise them. So it can be used as a tiny taskmanager, to close tasks to save memory.
WM5 and WM2003 compatible.
Unfortunately because of the nature of these apps, it needs refinement depending on the apps you use, but it should be quite stable. Please report problems.
Version Info:
v0.7 = 13.02.2006:
Major update, fixing GPRS issues, adds Reminder hiding, Reminder ghosting, Basic TaskSwitching
v0.71 = 15.02.2006:
Minor bug fix on certain calls still being detected as active even when closed.
Todo:
Exception list - nearly done!

The option list is getting long. I sugget using the "VJOkButt VJ's" shortcut on the red button to see the various features in action.
Reminders before:
Reminders after:
PLEASE NOTE: because reminders don't like being hidden, they will still try to get your attention from time to time. You will notice this because they will "steal focus", ie try to show themselves, even though they're hidden. This means that when you are writing text with the SIP etc, your input will stop suddenly etc. I cannot preven this OS feature (right now. I will consider trying to override it later). So don't leave reminders hidden forever, it will become inconvenient.

Another great work!
Also I like the name.... VJ... Butt hahaha
The idea of ok-close button simulation is great because this button is used ussually. But there is 4 hardware buttons to assign and it's great if user can assign hangup button (red button) for ok-close button. In the phone call, the red button will hang up the phone as default, otherwise it will simulate ok-close button. And could you add an option for "really close" or "minimize" function?
Xadaa: yes, the name was not chosen by accident, and is 110% true, ask my girlfriend :wink:
Pocket Me: For a tiny/simple program it requires a lot of work under the skin Minimise option will be added as a command line option.
The red button: I'll look into it, but different people will have different ways of using it (hardware button, launcher, start menu etc) so I don't really want to make it specific. I recommend that you use a program like ButtonMax that can have different key mappings depending on the active program. But it should be doable.

I'm waiting for the next version with new command-line option. Thank you!
The red button: you did not understand me. At this moment, there's no button mapping software can process the red-button (even ButtonMax).
The red-button is only used to hangup the phone as default. That's why it's great if we can assign ok/close simulation to red-button (simulate only if idle -> it means it is still used to hangup in a call). So we can keep 4 hardware buttons to use in different purposes by button mapping software.
I think AE Button plus will assign to the red key won't it?
Not sure if it's WM5 compatible, but I think it does for WM2003.
I could make a version of VJOkButt that would act like AEButtonPlus to assign it to the red key, but AEButtonPlus does the job well.
I will make a version that hangs up if you're in the phone app.
V
Yep, I know. We can assign red-button by AEButton but it will remove the default function of phone hangup. It means: assign red-button to do something, it can not hangup the phone anymore.
No problem! You can already hang up the phone using VJKeyPress with command line 115.
http://www.vijay555.com/index.php?Releases:VJKeyPress:Key_List
I'll join the two programs together so it will hang up the phone if you're in a call, or close/minimise all others.
V
Thanks for your considering!
Could u pls develop a tiny program allow users can assign red-button for ok/close simulation or anything they want but still keeping the default function of it (hang the phone). It's the best solution: keeping the default function of red-button when the phone application window or the incoming call window are activated, otherwise do its assignment.
Why the phone application window? Because if pressing red-button in phone application, it will close (de-activate) phone application window or cancel the outgoing call so no need to simulate ok/close there.
It's great if you add an option for press n hold the red-button (but for the future maybe).
I totally agree with Pocket Me here
The red button is so useless in most case, I only use it now as a "Home" butt since it will bring me back to today page, but I rather have it close program instead
But once I reprogram the red button with AEButton, the red button no longer act as a close phone button.
I would love to have a program to do the following for the red button (I wouldnt mind paying for it too)
Single press = ok/close program (closes phone app too, not just minize it)
Press and hold = home page (minize all)
Xadaa: I'll see what I can do.
I had some other ideas for the tap and hold, but I'll tell you about them later once I get basic functionality working.
V
Guys, major update to version 0.5.
WM2003 and WM5
Updates:
-min command line will force programs to minimise (normal OS action) and NOT close.
-phone command line will switch to the phone if you are in a call and you press VJOkButt. If you are in the phone and press it, it will hangup.
-phclose command line will force the phone to close, not minimise, to save extra memory (but will cause minor incompatibility with dialing from contacts.)
-about command line for about box.
This update is designed to be used with a program like AEButton Plus to replace the Red Phone key. You can now use it to hang up the phone if you are in a call. If you are not in a call, you can use the red key to close programs and dialogs like a tiny task manager, to conserve memory etc. So hopefully you have a much better and more useful Red key.
Install the cab.
Once installed, I suggest you assign "VJOkButt Phone" version to a hardware key.
I recommend using AE ButtonPlus to assign it to the red phone key.
Note: I'm very new to TAPI and spent the weekend learning this stuff. I'm not updating my website to v0.5 until it's been tested by you guys. But it works well for me!
Please post your feedback, good and bad! I need to know how it works on all systems.
VJOkButt 0.5 cab
And in case I screwed up the cab again, here's the .exe directly:
VJOkButt 0.5 exe
V
PS I'm using the <string> includes to process command lines. Unforunately this has increased the size of the exe 3 times. If someone knows a more efficient string class, please tell me about it!
The size shouldn't be an issue since it's never resident in memory for long.
But I'll try to shrink it later :wink:
Great, vijay555! I'll try and tell you about it later.
vijay555,
I've just downloaded it then installed to my XDA Mini. But all parameters did not work at all. It always close the active program. Maybe, you forgot update the file because the size of VJOkButt.exe is 11KB.
(By the way, pls check shortcuts in installation package. There are some mistake there, all shortcuts always have wrong path "Storage Card\!Install\VJStuff\VJOkButt.exe" :?: ).
RE
Hi vijay555
I think I get your copy from the 1st post instead of the v0.5 for my use as a task manager. Its working great but I missed the 'CLOSEALL' task manager
Any news of your 'CLOSEALL' program? I do hope you can incorporate the feature of closing individual as well as all applications into a single task manager something like the HandySwitcher or MagicButton
Thank you
VJ, thx
you really forgot to update .exe
btw how to use it with aebuttons?
red - phclose (or phone?) which better?
red*2 - w/o parameters and it will just close app?
red*3 - min
vijay555, can I use combined parameters, e.g: -phone -min
I'd like VJOkButt simulate Ok/Close button normally and hangup the phone during incoming/outgoing calls also.
Gosh, sorry guys, I'm so stupid. I had the shortcuts pointing to a different folder on my SD card, so didn't notice the .exe was different. I'll repost hopefully this afternoon.
Nitrogen: when I repost
Use AE Button Plus (works on WM5 and Wm2003 for me) remap red key to an application.
Then use the -phone version to hang up the phone, or otherwise close apps.
The -phclose version will properly close the phone, not minimise it. This is not always recommended because it can cause problems with some apps that expect it to be there (eg dialling from contacts). However, in my use I prefer to fully close the phone app when not needed to save memory. So use -phclose. If you don't specify -phclose, the phone is merely minimised to keep it happy.
All other apps are closed, unless you specify the -min override, which will force all apps to minimise in the normal OS manner.
Pocket Me: yes command line parameters can be combined like that.
Although AE Button Plus will allow you to do multiple key presses, later versions of VJOkButt will contain double tap and hold button features itself. But for now, do with it whatever you wish!
V
Guys, I've fixed the cabs hopefully, above.
Please test and report.

Hi
I use MFC for small apps as the MFC dll is in rom they come out pretty small with all the string handling you might need.
My camera timer app is only 11KB.
Code:

....
// search the command line to see if there is a "q" in it, if so exit camera app
CString csCmdLine(m_lpCmdLine);
if (csCmdLine.FindOneOf(TEXT("qQ"))!=-1)

Slide 2 UnLock is a simple lock/unlock application which has the iPhone style slide unlocking. It can be used as a screensaver while you don't use your device.
Since there have been a lot of changes after v1.10, this new thread is opened for easy maintenance. The previous development thread is at here.
The original v1.0 was released from http://rychlicki.net/en/2007/04/01/174 on April 1. I only picked the SLIDE.EXE up & after copying & pasting some codes, it's now v1.17. Recent changes are:
v1.17 (22-6-2007)
1. fixed the bug of "ShowSpbWeather" when the weather source is not the default one
2. some bugs fixed
The followings only work on WM5/6 devices
3. added option "BlankOnTalk" - turn off the LCD when the phone call is talking. If you want to turn on the LCD, simply press the power button.
4. if SLIDE is already activated before a phone call is incoming, SLIDE will be hidden when it's ringing; and SLIDE will be reactivated after the call
5. no more polling jobs, all system state changes are handled by iLock now (using the SNAPI). The result will be more accurate & uses lesser power (uses lesser power also apply to WM2003 version)
6. added missed voice mail and missed MMS counts
v1.164 (17-6-2007)
1. "ShowSpbWeather" follows user's Spb Weather settings: which city is selected; C/F option
2. fixed the bug of potential hang up of Trinity
3. fine tuning on WM6 devices
4. if "Password/Pin Lock" or "Owner Information" are enabled to display at woke up, SLIDE may quit by itself
5. added an icon to iLock.exe
6. some bugs fixed
v1.16 (10-6-2007)
1. added 2 little animatons, one you may love & one may not
2. if you have Spb Weather installed, set option "ShowSpbWeather" to 1 to show the current day's weather info
3. added option "AppointmentTimeFormat"
4. "ShowAppointment" now shows current or tomorrow appointment info
5. if your device's locale setting is Chinese, the date will now show in Chinese (but the Appointment details still CANNOT show Chinese characters) and the format is fixed
6. it now works peacefully with the OS built-in "Password/Pin Lock"
7. SLIDE behaves more inert to the "Phone" app
8. some bugs fixing
Start from v1.1, INSTALLATION is necessary! If you have used any other methods to make SLIDE.EXE runs on wake up event, please UNDO it before using this version. Read "How to use" for details.
If you want to show your appreciation, you may buy me a coffee by clicking here. Of course, send me a thank you message is also welcome.
Please read the README.TXT for the details & FAQ.

FAQs
The following files are included in this release:
SLIDE.EXE - frontend locker
iLock.EXE - background job; wait for right event to invoke SLIDE; provide system info to SLIDE
GFX (folder) - contains all the necessary graphics for the locker; fully customizable
readme.txt - this readme file
history.txt - history of Slide 2 Unlock
How to use:
=========
1. A simple 1 step INSTALLATION is necessary - use the CAB file to install, pls select the right OS version.
2. After installation, there are 2 shortcuts created under \Program Files\Slide2Unlock:
iLock.lnk - start/stop ilock.exe (on the 1st run, it runs silently in the background; on the 2nd run, it closes iLock & SLIDE)
Slide2Unlock.lnk - manually start SLIDE (be sure iLock is running in the background, otherwise the Battery status will not be updated)
3. A shortcut for iLock.exe is created automatically under "\Windows\StartUp" as well.
4. Everytime you change the settings in the registry, please restart iLock.exe to reload the changes. HOW? Run the iLock the second time, it will close itself & the SLIDE. Then run it again to stay in the background.
5. To UNINSTALL, use the "Remove Programs" under Settings.
6. Installation on Storage Card is NOT supported (for the sake of stability).
7. For Smartphone users, you can unlock by pressing the D-Pad when "DpadOn" is set to 1.
iLock config (in the Registry under \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\A_C\Slide2Unlock):
===========================================
1. the Date & Time format can be customized by changing the keys DateFormat & TimeFormat:
DateFormat:
(Pls read the readme.txt for details.)
For example, to get the date displays "Wed, Aug 31 94"
set DateFormat to ddd',' MMM dd yy
TimeFormat:
(Pls read the readme.txt for details.)
For example, to get the time displays "11:29:40 PM"
set TimeFormat to hh':'mm':'ss tt
Non-english devices may still have some problems for the format of the date/time, please use the most basic date/time format like:DateFormat set to d'/'M'/'yyyyTimeFormat set to H':'mmIf you do not want to have date/time display, just leave them blank.
2. After the unlock action, SLIDE.EXE can be sent to background if:CloseApp is 0
It'll further speed up the loading time of the next execution, but it'll eat up the memory (5MB). If you want it simply exits as version 1, set:CloseApp to 13. The speed of the button can be configured by setting:Speed to n (where n is 1, the slowest to 5, the fastest)
4. If your device has a VGA screen, to have better fit font, please set:VGAfix to 1
5. Load the .bmp, .jpg or .png file you want; make sure to include the full path of the file & the files fit your screen (i.e. 240 x 320 or 320 x 240 in size)Wallpaper set to "the full path of the file that will be used at Portrait mode"WallpaperLandscape set to "the full path of the file that will be used at Landscape mode"
6. If you want to "auto start" SLIDE.EXE when the device is woke up, set:Autostart to 1 (0 to disable)
7. To turn off the LCD by SLIDE.EXE, you may specify:OffLCD to n (after n seconds idle, the screen will be off; minimum is 5 seconds; 0 to disable)
8. When the OffLCD is enabled, you may specify whether the device is suspended or remain active but with LCD turned off:BlankScreen set to 0 or 1 (0 to suspend the device; 1 to turn off the LCD only)
9. For WM5 device (or device with the capability to turn off the backlight), you may set SLIDE to start automatically when the device's backlight is turned off by:IdleStart set to 1 (0 to disable)
10. Similar to IdleStart, ACIdleStart has the same function when the device is charging:ACIdleStart set to 1 (0 to disable)
11. Similar to OffLCD, ACOffLCD has the same function when the device is charging:ACOffLCD to n (after n seconds idle, the screen will be off; minimum is 5 seconds; 0 to disable)
12. Similar to BlankScreen, ACBlankScreen has the same function when the device is charging:ACBlankScreen set to 0 to suspend the device; or 1 to turn off the LCD only
13. If you want to install SLIDE to other folders or the storage card, please update the key:Slide2UnlockPath to "the new full path"
14. To show your current or tomorrow Appointment information, set the key:ShowAppointment to 1 (0 to disable)
15. To change the format of Appointment's time, change the key: (works on WM5 or 6 only)AppointmentTimeFormat (use the same syntax as TimeFormat)
16. To enable D-Pad input, set the key:DpadOn to 1 (0 to disable)
17. If you have installed Spb Weather as well, the current day's weather can be shown by set the key:ShowSpbWeather to 1 (0 to disable)18. To turn off the LCD during a phone call, set the key: (works on WM5 or 6 only)BlankOnTalk to 1 (0 to disable)
19. The default values are added on the first run of iLock:ACBlankScreen=0
ACIdleStart=0
ACOffLCD=0
AppointmentTimeFormat=h':'mmt
Autostart=1
BlankOnTalk=0
BlankScreen=0
CloseApp=0
DateFormat=dddd', 'd MMMM
DpadOn=0
IdleStart=1
OffLCD=0
ShowAppointment=0
ShowSpbWeather=0
Slide2UnlockPath="\Program Files\Slide2Unlock"
Speed=3
TimeFormat=H':'mm
VGAfix=0
Wallpaper="\Program Files\Slide2Unlock\GFX\Res\wallpaper.bmp"
WallpaperLandscape="\Program Files\Slide2Unlock\GFX\Res\wallpaperL.bmp"Known limitations & FAQs:
=====================
1. Cannot display UNICODE (for faster loading time & uses lesser memory)
2. GSM signal strength and Operator Name will NOT be available on WM2003 devices (but can be added manually)
3. "Missed Call", "Unread SMS" & "Unread Email" notifications only work on WM5/6 devices
4. If your device has slide-out keyboard, SLIDE will quit automatically when the keyboard is slided.
5. SLIDE may run slow in Landscape mode or even the screen turns blank. No solution yet.
6. Reported not compatible devices: Japanese OS, Thai OS
7. For faster loading time, please use option "CloseApp 0", but it needs about 5MB memory.
8. If SLIDE sometimes come out unexpectedly, pls set "IdleStart" to 0 & restart iLock.
9. If "Password/Pin Lock" or "Owner Information" are enabled to display at woke up, SLIDE may quit by itself.
10. To have correct Battery Status displayed by SLIDE, iLock must be running in the background.
11. If you do not want to have SLIDE start automatically when power button is pressed, set "Autostart" to 0 & restart iLock.
12. If you want to start SLIDE with other button, map a hardware key to the shortcut - \Program Files\Slide2Unlock\Slide2Unlock.lnk.
Trouble shooting:
=============
If you find your device is hang with a blank screen or no response with any key or screen-touch, you may not need to reset it. Please follow these steps if your device has a camera button:
1. press the camera button to invoke the built-in camera program
2. press the end call button to go back to Today screen
3. use Task Manager (a third party freeware; highly recommended) to close the SLIDE.EXE
Source code:

Wao A_C! You have done such a huge improvement to the programme.. Thanks a million! Great job.
OK, before I proceed to try out this new great version, just to confirm, it's POSSIBLE to remove 'iLock' from \Window\Start up after putting it there, right? Just follow the step 6) of your instructions to use/install Slide:-
6. to UNINSTALL, run the iLock under "\Windows\StartUp" a second time to close the SLIDE.EXE & iLock.exe. Then delete all files from "\Program Files\Slide2Unlock" and delete iLock.exe from "\Windows\StartUp".
After my last 'experience' of removing iLock from Start up folder, I am a bit concern of putting it back there.
Thanks A_C. There is a problem with v1.13. In V1.1 the battery indicator worked ( turned green) when I plugin my PDA to the Charger/PC. Now in this version it's no longer working. Cheers

Do you have iLock running?
A_C
Another question, will iLock execute itself upon softreset? Like you said the last round, there may not be enough time for the PPC to reboot properly esp if iLock is placed in the 'Start up' folder and 'Slide2Unlock' is set to auto-shut down within 5 sec.

Im also having the same problem. Battery indicator not working at all, whether it's plugged in or not.
Also, what's the difference between running iLock.exe and slide.exe??

That's why I've disable "OffLCD" by default. Besides, running the iLock under "Windows\StartUp" will not invoke SLIDE, iLock will only sitting there. And the recommended setting for "OffLCD" is 15 seconds.

As I said, I've rewrote the Battery Status & it's coded in iLock.exe. SLIDE will no longer actively polling the system for the Battery Status. Starting from v1.1, there is a very close workmanship between iLock & SLIDE. If you don't want to run iLock.exe, pls use the old version.

I am running the iLock.exe and the battery status still does not work. I have the app installed on my storage card. Everything works fine so far except for the battery status. It always shows the battery as being empty.
Very Nice Work.
I attempted to use previous versions on my apache and they eitehr didn't display the time correctly, wouldn't start up or would crash. This one seems to be a gem.
Many Thanks.
OK, Sorry- I've got the battery indicator working- my mistake- I've put the slide.exe in the startup folder before - Should Be Ilock.exe. Nice works and many thanks again.

Pls follow these steps for installation on Storage Card:
1. copy everything to your Storage Card's folder
2. copy iLock.exe to \Windows\StartUp (don't tell me you're not willing to spend just few kb of internal memory ), then run it.
3. edit the registry & change the key "Slide2UnlockPath" to the path specified in step 1 (must in full path)
4. run \Windows\StartUp\iLock.exe twice (i.e. to close & start again)
5. FINISH

Sorry, may I know whether it's ok to copy and paste iLock in Start up as a shortcut or must it be a duplication of the iLock programme in the Start up folder? Or there's no difference between this two?
Hi
I've tried paste 'iLock' as a short cut in Start Up folder. After changes to the Registry, I activated the 'iLock' twice but the screen background did not change. I've put the jpg file in the 'Res' folder, so I only need to change the file name, instead of the whole path. I've double check and there's nothing wrong with the new file name.
Would there be any problem if I first started off 'iLock' from the file in the 'Slide2Unlock' folder, instead of the 'Start up'? I accidentally activated iLock from the short cut I previously created on my iLauncher.
Or is this caused by the pasting of 'iLock' as short cut in the 'Start up' folder?

Just tried, the shortcut/lnk will not work. Pls don't make it too complicated - simple is beauty, right?
I really like this app, been following the thread for a while now trying the different versions, its going from strength to strength, i like it...
one small gripe tho, (really small) when can we have an icon for the ilock app? hehe something slidy and locky, would just polish it off me thinks, especially for those that have ilock as an icon on today screen.
Also, im using it on a Universal, can i replace the bitmaps with the correct res images? ie 640x480 format? and if i can is it possible you have the fish at those resolutions? Im not to really fussed if they consume a little more ram, think it would tidy it up a little more for us hi-res users.
And as another off the top of my head idea, as the registry is now used to store config, a v small config page would make life alot easier:
all in all i love it
Tried pasting iLock as application in Start up folder, but the changes to the background still doesn't take effect.
I've also tried '\Storage Card\Background.JPG' and it still didn't change.
[Edit] The path to the image was successfully changed in the Registry tho'.
I will update my post today, and maybe I will put a Chinese readme on it.
Works on My 2003 SE
Great work!! just found this App and love it
But are ther any update on GSM signal strength and Operator Name will NOT be available on WM2003 devices (but can be added manually) ?
tried the method
For WM2003/SE or non-mobile device, you may use this trick to show a fake operator name & signal:
- add this key to the registry "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\state\phone"
- add the following keys:
"Current Operator Name" (REG_SZ)
"Radio Ready State" (REG_DWORD)
"Signal Strength Raw" (REG_DWORD)
But Not working for me, Thanks

[25 March 2009]iLaunch 0.3 beta release

Well, here it is, the first beta of the first iApps release!
You can read about the iApps open source dev team here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=486618
iLaunch is a finger-friendly applications launcher for Windows Mobile PocketPC phones. It's easily skinnable, intuitive, and could be used instead of the standard Windows Mobile Start Menu.

}
It is based on iContact (supbro version) source code, available here:
http://supware.net/iContact
iContact is used as a "scrollable framework" for applications that will have the same look and feel: the same iContact original skins will be included by default: "default" and "iPhone". The "default" skin will have a diamond-like look and feel, and the "iphone" skin will be designed to be as similar to the iPhone look as possible.
iLaunch settings can be found in the Windows Mobile system settings menu. A soft reboot may be required after installing iLaunch before the iLaunch settings icon will appear in the menu.
iLaunch is built around this idea:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=428064
So iLaunch gives you 5 tabs that can be linked to 5 folders under "Windows\Start Menu"
By default the folders (but you can rename or change them) are:
- Office Mobile
- Multimedia
- Programs
- Connections
- System Tools
Each tab shows a scrollable list of links that you can use to start applications.
You can also use StartButton to replace the default Start Menu with iLaunch:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=486712
iLaunch tabs can be customized with the language file located in "program files\iLaunch".
By default you find here "english.lng", which can be used a base for transaltions
There is a "+" button in the top right side, near the title of the tab:
as for now it does nothing, but the code to make it work will be ready for the next beta!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quick Start
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
iLaunch is based on tabs: each tab gets its linked programs from a folder on the device.
Please remember also that this is the first beta, so there are some things that will be better in the next releases
As for now:
1. You have to create up to 5 folders in your "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs"
A quick way to do this is using the cab linked above, but you can do it as you want.
2. You have to copy links to programs/applications inside the created folders.
A very handy tool to do this is Total Commander, but you can do it with any file manager.
3. Then you need to "update" the tab: if you click on the tab icon (while the tab is already selected) the
list of links is updated.
4. It is possible to change the name of the folders editing the english.lng file.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The source code is available through Svn at GoogleCode:
http://code.google.com/p/ilaunch2/
iLaunch is a beta release, so please tell us about bugs/requests/etc!
Did we forget anything? Oh, yes... where is the Paypal button?
It's hard to believe, but the Paypal link is not a required feature of Xda!
So, if you really want to thank us for our work, go here instead:
http://www.emergency.it/index.php?ln=En
They will use your money way much better than we ever could...
Installed it and hooked it right away to my start button. Only files in the "multimedia" category show up. Other categories are all empty. Do i have to add them manually?
/edit: Oops... forgot to mention that it looks great and runs smoothly.

wow! it's very fast! great project! good work!
Nice app! Working smoothly on a WVGA Toshiba G900. I noticed just one bug so far (and probably a known one) - the program doesn't adapt to landscape. It's just displayed in a 640x640 square after rotating screen (besides that, works fine). After going back to portrait, it looks as it should.
As for feature requests/proposals:
* some basic task manager would be nice to have (browsing, switching and closing tasks - like QuickMenu)
* command line parameters to launch the program with different tabs open (especially the task manager tab, if implemented) should be useful
* this one might be a long shot but hey, who knows - maybe someone will like it? So, how about having one tab with nothing but a text field in it. As you type, a list of applications and applets from entire start menu containing the typed string in their name is displayed below the textfield. So typing "Wi" would display a list with "Wi-Fi" control panel applet, "Wireless manager" and "Windows media player". Typing in "Not" would cause "Notepad", "New Note" and "OneNote Mobile" to pop up. Something like a PC program Launchy. It shouldn't be much harder to implement than an alphabetical list of all apps in the start menu, but much easier to navigate. And easier still if the SIP popped up when you open this tab (preferably configurable behavior - some devices have a hardware keyboard after all).
Anyway, i hope this app grows into a real Start Menu, or even better - QuickMenu replacement
Thanks works perfect on my Touch Pro

I don't think this could work without a real full-size hardware keyboard, but we'll think about it!
I'm getting an issue on my Omnia where i have to spam any buttons on the multiple times before it registers.
It most defintely isn't lag as when i press it once and leave it for 5 mins it still doesn’t changes tabs, but spamming it like 3 times in a second changes to another tab.

Ok you know how at the very bottom, there's the bar with multiple icons, that leads to the applications, multimedia, office mobile etc tabs?
Those buttons for some weird reason only respond on my omnia with a minimum of two taps, that is i have to tap the same button twice or more in a second for it to respond and change to the said tab.
All the tabs except for the office mobile tabs are blank as well, so i doubt its trying to load the tab contents.

This is very strange, unfortunately I don't have an Omnia to test, but I've never seen this problem before

Is that folder creation cab absolutly necessary for use with this app, or was that specifically in syd's situation?

The folder creation cab is not necessary, it is just a quick way to create some folders in the right place!
But you have to create some folders (and then put some links inside them) which will be linked to iLaunch's tabs: you can do this in the way you prefer - personally I use Total Commander
For more details, see "Quick start" added to the first post.
great work by the way

Is it possible to place source code here?

The source code is available via Svn at GoogleCode:
http://code.google.com/p/ilaunch2/
You can use a Svn client like TortoiseSVN (free and opensource):
http://tortoisesvn.net/
Using Svn is so much better than uploading an (outdated) zip with the source
(and if you want to join the dev team pm me!)

MIUI for Beginners
Source: http://en.miui.com/a-10.html
Already flashed MIUI ROM? OK, pick up your phone now, let’s start our happy journey of MIUI ROM.
The first step: selecting apps
Various apps will greatly enrich your cell phone, so firstly let’s select the apps to your taste. Use the Android Market and download what you would like. If you are using a backup app and restoring apps from a previous ROM, only restore the apps and not the data. Otherwise that will create a lot of force close issues.
Tip: How to copy files from the computer to the phone? First connect your phone to your computer via data cable, pull down the notification panel from the top of the phone, click “USB connected”, and then click "Turn on USB storage”.
After copying, do not forget to select the option of “Turn off USB storage”, otherwise "File Manager” in the phone will not be able to find the sd card, as it is being occupied by the computer.
Now I have a lot of apps, how to put them in order?
All apps successfully installed are listed on the desktop, however, they may not be in the order you want, how to put them in order?
Long press an app icon and then you may move it freely. When it is moved to the screen border, the screen will automatically switch to the next screen.
How to add a screen? Use two fingers to pinch on the desktop to enter screen thumbnail mode. Then you may add or delete screens.
How to delete an app? Long press the app icon you want to delete, drag it on top of the trash box and click OK to delete it.
The second step: let's make your phone different.
A phone without style is nothing remarkable, so let’s make your phone different!
Changing wallpaper: Click Menu button on the desktop, select “Change Wallpaper” to replace the wallpaper. In addition to the existing wallpaper in the phone, thousands of pieces of wallpaper are also available online.
Changing theme: Themes make great changes to your interface style. Click “Theme Manager” on the desktop to select the theme you like. Also, more online themes are available online.
Selecting ringtones and more: click “Settings” on the desktop to set call and notification ringtones. In “Personalization” under “Personal” tab, you may find more options.
The third step: it’s time for some advanced techniques!
Well, you are no longer a beginner now, so let’s learn some advanced techniques.
Adding widgets on the desktop: press the Menu button on the desktop, select "Edit Mode", and then click the icon on the upper right corner to access the interface of “Add Widgets”. Choose your favorite widget on the top, and then drag it to the screen below.
Using folders to manage desktop apps: in the interface of “Add Widgets”, drag [Folder] to the desktop. You may drag multiple apps into folders to classify them. After opening the folder, you may click the edit icon in the upper left corner to rename the folder.
Using toggles panel to improve efficiency: drag the notification panel down from the top, click "Toggles" to go to the toggles panel (It goes to the toggles panel in default of notice.) On the panel are listed the most commonly used toggles, you may click to quickly enable or disable a toggle. Long press on the icon will launch the settings for that icon.
Guest mode: enable the “Guest Mode” toggle in the panel, and your calls and text messages logs will be hidden, and all installed applications cannot be removed. You may have a try when you need to show your phone to guests or children.
Importing contacts or binding accounts: you may use some apps to import a batch of contacts, or bind Google account directly in "Settings"> "Personal"> "Accounts & Sync Settings" to sync contacts at any time.
How to print screens? Press "Menu" key and "Volume Down" key at the same time to print a screen. The printed image is saved in the directory of MIUI in the SD card.
How to copy files from the computer without using the data cable? In case of a Wi-Fi connection, enter “File Manager” on the desktop, select the tab of "Remote Administration" to start the service, and then you will get an address. Enter the given address on the computer, then you may copy files without using a data cable!
