Anyway to enable antialiasing on notes? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Is there a way to enable antialiasing on the builtin notes program?

You mean ClearType?
Why are you using such a terrible program?
Find and try Orneta Notepad (current version 3.1.0).
It looks 100 times better than Build-in Notes.
It's a very good text editor with clear-type fonts support.

Shortcut with parameter

Is it possible to launch a program from a shortcut with an additional parameter?
E.g. "\Program Files\OpenVPN.exe client.ovpn"
If yes, how to create such a shortcut? I noticed WM shortcuts include a number and are different from Windows shortcuts.
Thx!
EDIT: just found the solution here: http://blogs.msdn.com/mikehall/archive/2005/08/22/454922.aspx
One minor point: the system actually disregards the number of characters completely so you do not really have to count them.
If you insist on a proper shortcut and are making it on the device I found that the edit feature in Total Commander is grate for this purpose as it has a letter count and saves in plain text format.
Nice tip. I found a PPC proggy called vxShortCut which can do it as well (http://www.cambridgevx.comhttp://www.cam.com/windowsce.html)
They have a nice bunch of other useful tools as well.

Edit HTC Home APP??

i dont want to redo the app at all, all i want to do is customize the three hotkeys??? i want the text app to go to pocketCM threaded text messaging?? is that possible?
Not sure but does this help?
that edits the tabs and everything. I just want to edit the three little boxes above the tabs. The email, text, and missed calls
this program cannot edit those three tabs?? maybe a reg edit, to specify path to the PCM text messaging?? anyone have a clue how to do thisZ
It takes more than a simple registry hack to get this to point elsewhere. I hexedited the HTCHome.dll file to point to "fmail.exe" instead of "tmail.exe" and fmail.exe is a vjbrisk pointer to FlexMail. Even hexediting is insufficient as you need to digitally sign the dll file so it can run again. Even then, it will not go to the corresponding folders.
so...... dont even bother w/ threaded text messaging. Because i use that link a lot
maybe a mortscript can change the reaction to the tab? I want to use flexmail too, because poutlook suck so bad. Cannot display half of my email, only thing it display is the subject.

application to switch default browser

Quick question,
After a protracted bout of searching here, I am still looking for an app that would allow me to easily switch my default browser from one to another. I have seen the tutorial on setting Opera Mini as default, and know that some browsers allow you to have an entry in preferences that you can check to set as default.
But is there an app that will allow me to quickly switch between Skyfire, Netfront, PIE, Opera et al?
Have any of the gurus written this yet?
Don't think it has been done yet. I'm not a programmer so I'm not sure how difficult this would be. It would seem to have something to do with the registry. Maybe the app could make those registry changes...then again, I'm not sure
just change reg entry or use mort script.
hi,
If your just trying to changing your default browser, I would suggest just changing the registry key (in the HKCR) for htmlfile to launch the desired browser. Total Commander offers a registry editor.
If you want to change the default browser on a regular basis then you could write a fairly easy mortscrip code to offer the list of desired browsers and then change the registy keys to launch the new default browser. There is a mortscript code examples which shows most of the steps to do this.
Cheers,
i have searched for a way to read and change reg keys using C#..maybe i will try to develop something

Cleartype?

I've noticed that Cleartype doesn't seem to be enabled in some of the Mini applications, such as the Outlook message list. It's very noticable in a relatively low resolution device like this, if you compare for example Resco Explorer with and without Cleartype enabled. It used to be possible to universally enable it in Settings, but this doesn't seem to be there any more. Anyone any ideas on how to re-enable it?

jmatejka thank you
A more detailed working solution to enable cleartype in mini is the following:
With a registry editor go to:
HKLM -> System -> GDI
new key:ClearType, then new DWORD in the key named ClearType, Dword data=1.
Reboot your device, done. Works fine on my mini
Thanks for this. The fonts still look really dreadful to me in eg. the Outlook message list, compared to devices with the same resolution - the 1-pixel wide letters just lack clarity. They seem to be using the application's Medium font, whereas if you view a message and change the font size up to Larger it's far clearer; using this size in the list would look much better. Maybe there's a hack to change the list font size?

It's a bit kludgy because I haven't installed a screengrabber (and I'm not sure there is a HVGA-compatible one available) but in the attached images, the first shows the message list, the second and third show the text inside the email viewer at Larger and Medium font sizes. Larger is far clearer, and uses up a negligible amount of extra space. It seems to me that the list view would look much better using the Larger font.
Edit: well I never, there's a setting in Manila Settings - Font to fix this! Couldn't find it in the standard WM settings though.
Sorry for my english. I was really interested HD mini but when i saw quality of fonts i could not belive that this is possible in new device for this price. Fonts in file explorer looks much worse then in my polaris. I was search for WM resolution supported and i think that the answer for this problem is simply. WM 6.5 does not support Hvga resolution, so it does not run in its native resolution. It is the same when you set for example resolution 800x600 on the monitor with native resolution 1024x768 - fonts look blurred not sharp. Only manila is made for HVGA so the main interface looks grate but when you go inside windows fonts looks awful. Only WM 7 will support HVGA.
It actually doesn't look at all bad with a slightly larger font, attached; just the default is rather poorly designed.
This is the original. I don't see any big differences
Enabling ClearType: how to enable the Screen control panel
Hi all,
ClearType can be enabled through the Screen control panel but HTC disabled it.
To enable the Screen control panel, one may use his preferred registry editor: go to "\HKLM\ControlPanel\Pen" then change the "Hide" key content from 1 to 0. After a device reboot, the Screen control panel is available under "Sense Settings tab > Menu > More > System".
After re-enabling ClearType, the text is really much more readable in MS applications such as EMail, Calendar, Contacts, Mobile Office, etc.
Hope this helps.
Excellent, much better; thanks!
great !!!!

Many thanks.
Not sure that I like it (I've now turned it off!), but still, nice to have the option!
Amazing! Working perfect!!!

Screen Align
Hi! It is possible to make even easier! Here to you a label! Simply through the file manager press a label, and receive adjustments cleartype!
wonderful solutions makes for a far better view!!
tnx so much!
A word of caution.
HD mini is one quirky WM device. If the cleartype does not bother you too much, or if it's not essential, better leave it as it is. The more you tinker with the unavailable settings, the more chances it could randomly produce unexpected behavior. Such as freeze and other stuffs.

[Q] tweaks/hacks for file explorer and contacts page?!

Hey guys..are there any tweaks/hacks for file explorer and contacts page which makes programs names and respectively contacts name to be shown fully..not just a part of them?i'm looking for this for long time..
I think, the only way is to turn your screen to landscape.
yep..i know this way but i'm just usual to browse the phone in portrait mode
Maybe, only if you find a way to decrease font size (names must be fit to screen, to see full name), but then you will get two new problems:
1. Vision problem
2. It will be difficult to use your finger to select an item.
hmmm..better a hack or a registry change then
About font size decreasing?
yeah......
It's not easy...
...maybe with this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=551611
doesn't work..it give me an error
What's the error said?
MagnifierSetup.exe
NullreferenceException
la Magnifiersetup.main..ctor()
la MagnifierSetup.Program.Main()
does it work for you?
I don't know why. I don't use it. I prefer auto-rotation.
i use auto-rotation apps too..but all of them rotates manila too..even if i put them in exception list..and if i wanna use manila/sense i need to close this program hmmm
Have you tried ChangeScreen?
yes..using it..but as i told u its messing up manila even if i put it as exception, and its kinda freezing the phone when i go to homescreen
Try a manual-rotation app.
Something like this:
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-rotate-screen.html
thx but its no fun without g-sensor
still looking if there is a registry hack, cuz i want to be able to see full contacts name in portrait mode, and as for file explorer i'd like to get rid of date and maybe file size because i dont care about them..this way i will see the full app name
For your files you can use Resco Explorer. You have to deactivate "Show Treeview" and you will be able to see in full name more items than file explorer, but not all.
looks great,thx..and MUCH more complex than WM file explorer, thank you very much
as for contacts..i'll try to find a better contacts manager too,,maybe i will see full names too
For free, search here:
