Hi
I've received my XDA2i today and am very pleased with it...even if my girlfriend was less than impressed given it's likeness to the XDA2! Hehe...
Anyway, I am having great difficulty getting my o2 bluetooth clip headset to pair up and connect. I have tried and rechecked everything I can think of, yet when I try to connect it as a headset / handsfree in BT Connection Wizard, it comes back (after asking for the legtimate pin) saying "an error occured while attempting service discovery. Please make sure the remote device is turned on, BT is enabled and the device is discoverable and try again".
I've checked on my old XDA2 just now and it recognises it straight away. Obviously the 2i is doing something because it asks for the pin.
Can anyone help?
Cheers
Anthony
I somehow managed to pair the headset which does now show in bonded pairings.
Also whilst performing a hard reset I managed to make it a hands free headset briefly so there doesn't appear to be a problem with the headset (and it works fine with the XDA2).
Is there a way of removing this broadcom stack and replacing it with one that works better? it's currently build 3900.
Cheers
Anthony
Thanks for all the responses!
However, now I've resigned myself to this I was wondering if anyone DOES actually knew of a way to remove the standard xda2i BT stack and replace it with a version akin to that present in XDA2 ROMs.
I personally couldn't give two shiny sh*tes about all the other features, if having them means I can't use the damn thing whilst driving!
Cheers
Anthony
I am the happy owner of an iMATE PPC (XDA II), but will be "upgrading" to the new iMATE PDA2 (XDA IIi, 2020I) shortly (in May). One of the shortcomings of the original iMATE is that it does not support caller ID on a BT headset such as Jabra's BT800 or Sony Ericsson.
Can anyone tell me with certainty whether the XDA IIi, 2020i (or equivalent PDA2) supports caller ID on the Jabra BT800 without any modifications (ie, out of the box support)? I don't care if the name displays or not, as long as I can see a phone number or something.... The name would simply be a plus. I don't want to hassle with "upgrading" or "patching" the existing bluetooth, etc, etc... I just want to know if it will work as delivered.
Thanks in advance.
-Kevin.
i have i mate pda2k
with jabra bt800
i can have the caller id but not the name.
PDA2
Hey Kevin-
Where are you getting your PDA2 in the US? I still have a T-Mob Phone Edition & need to upgrade ASAP. I see Expansys will be getting them.
Good question as I will be getting a BT headset after I get the PDA2.
Scotty
I have the Sony Ericsson Akono 600 with the display and a XDAIII. I can get the number to appear in the LED but not the name...
Seems like all it might need is to tweak the bluetooth software to change the output to the display... any one out there that can take this on?

Scottyjchef (Scotty)...
I haven't received my unit yet. Expansys-USA.com is selling them for $809. Convergent Technologies is selling them for $799. ImpactWireless is selling them for $769. All claim to start shipping at the end of April, or first week of May.
I am going to place my order via Expansys since they seem to be the largest vendor. They're also the only one that will take a pre-order, and verify with you if you want the item when it arrives before charging your credit card. I am assuming I'll have a better chance of resolving any problems (if any arise) with them as well, but I might be entirely off-based on that assumption.
I'm still teetering on whether I should wait though... it's not always best to be the first kid on the block to have a new toy, and my iMATE (XDA II) is serving me fine... I just want caller ID on the headset, landscape, and WiFi. The 1.3MP camera is nice too, but from what I've seen/heard, it doesn't take fantastic pictures.

I have a QTEK 2020i and bought the Jabra 800, but no number and no name. so I am advising you my friend to search with me for a solution before buying it. Does any one know how?
Does it work at all?
Mohs...
Does your BT800 work at all with the 2020i? My BT800 does not answer calls with my original IMATE (running Pocket Bluetooth Tools 1.0.1.2). If I install Pocket Bluetooth Tools 1.1.0.0, it works, but there is a bug that prevents the IMATE from turning off, so it stays on all day (kills battery really quick!).
Is caller id the only problem you have with the 2020i and BT800?
-Kevin.

I have tried the BT800, and Xlive. Xlive shows the name if it is in contacts but it is buggy.
http://www.expansys-usa.com/product.asp?code=117123 may work and I am ordering the HBH662 as well. I will let you know.

BT800 needs Hands Free profile. BT tools uses it's own DLL (driver) for the headset. Only Headset profile. It will take up to 9 seconds to answer a call with the BT800 and Headset profile.
Need to use 2.20 translated or 2005 OS to get A WORKING Hands Free profile.

Did you pair it under Hands Free or Headset profile?
I do not think I have a handfree profile, how can you do that?

If you have the 2020i (xda2i, Alpine) then you do have a handsfree profile, as your xda runs the Broadcom stack.
I've tried an xda2i with Jabra BT800 also and caller id works for viewing the number reliably if that is all you need. But no name.
As far as I know there is NO b/t headset on the market with fully working caller id (ie shows the name from your contacts). Which is a real shame
Mine does not show any numbers? I am really fed up of trying
Imate claims PDA2 will support Jabra BT800 Caller ID Feature
For what it's worth, from a 1-on-1 session with iMATE Customer Support:
You're now talking to Buffon from 'Club Advisors' The topic is : Not Provided
Buffon> Welcome to Club i-mate. My name is Buffon and I am a Club Advisor. What can I help you with?
curious> can you advise if the pda2 will support the caller id function on the jabra bt800 headset/
curious> hello?
curious> are you still there?
Buffon> ya
curious> did you receive my question?
Buffon> yes
Buffon> sure
Buffon> im glad to help u
Buffon> yes it support it
Buffon> it is working fine with it
curious> The caller idis fully supported? I have seen problems with the PDA2K. My IMATE PPC does NOT support caller id. Before I purchase the PDA2, it is imperative that caller id is fully supported by the Jabra BT800.
Buffon> ya
Buffon> i insure u it is supported at he PDA2
Conflicting results
Now this is interesting... IMATE says "YES", absolutely sure the PDA2 will support caller id on the Jabra BT800.
Now this is what Jabra is saying:
"Kevin,
Thank you for contacting JABRA North America.
We are not familiar with the Qtek 2020i, but the BT800 does not
support
caller id with the 02 XDA IIi and the Imate PDA 2.

I have the BT800 and the HBH662 and the X-live 128 mp3 player-BT phone.
Caller ID works on all of them with the PDA2. X-live will display the NAME too on the 2.20 translated on the Himalaya but it times out.. The 2.20 uses the MS stack.
On my new PDA2, with the Broadcomm stack, only caller ID works on the xlive, no name. Good news is it does not time out. Works fine.
I like the xlive because it can make phone calls using the little joy stick and selecting numbers. It is great to check voice mail too because you can select numbers while in the phone call to delete or do other menu choices.

Proof that the Jabra BT800 works on the I-Mate PDA2
I have proof that the Jabra BT800 works on the new I-mate PDA2.. It can also work for the XDAIIi if you install the patch from the Extended ROM from the PDA2!
I-mate fixed it for the Alpine!
Will it work for Qtek 9090????
Hi there,
I might be wrong but I thought that WM5 AKU offered the SAP Bluetooth profile?
I cannot see where to activate on my new Orange M600? Have Orange removed the software?
I have looked at the postings where users have got the M3100 SAP settings menu to appear.
I folowed the link, was able to show my extended ROM, install the BTSAP_Test.CAB and the menu option appeared to turn on SAP.
My Audi Q7 was able to see the phone and I ws offered the 16 digit code for SAP pairing. Once this was accepted by the phone and the pairing setup, I tried to connect but was unsuccessful.
Is there a limitation on AKU2 for the bluetooth SIM Access Profile? Does this only start to appear from AKU2.3? Any help would be appreciated.
My dopod d810 is running WM6 at the moment
WHat happened is that im trying to get this product to synch with it

but for some reason it cant seem to detect
i launched the bluetooth explorer and it just did not detect~
help me
Seems that Trinity identifies itself as a PDA in BT - some BT devices only want to bond to devices that identify itself as a computer.
You may want to try search for a registry key to change the BT device type in Trinity. It has been discussed before.
Hi guys,
Really hoping someone can help me here as getting very frustrated.
First off, I just need to confirm what model of phone I have! It's the MDA Compact II, so I assumed the Charmer, yet does not have WM5 on it, it's WM 2003 SE. Is this still a Charmer...or a Magician?
Originally I had another unit which came direct from TMobile, which had WM5 on it. I lost it. I bought another one off Ebay but it appears to be an older model phone, with WM 2003 SE on it. (Didn't realise this at the time grrrr).
Anyway I bought a Bluetooth dongle the other day to use with my laptop. My only need for it really is to simply transfer files between the laptop and the MDA.
I've installed the software that came with the dongle (Bluesoleil) but I can't see obviously how I am to transfer files. I can pair the devices but they will not connect with each other. Do I need to use FTP? If so, I can see no provision for this on the MDA.
Hayy-elllllp!
Many thanks in advance,
RHF
Hi, the easiest way how to recognize these units is to look at the information about the device (settings - system). The older version (magician) has 416MHz clock of the cpu, newer version (charmer) has only 195MHz clock of the CPU.
It can only be the Magician. There is no Charmer with WM 2003SE and no Magician with WM5.
