Not sure if I am even in the right forum. You know where it says "Hermes (48 Viewing) Also known as: HTC TyTN / XDA trion / MDA Vario II / VPA Compact III / SPV M3100 / Dopod CHT 9000 / Dopod 838 Pro" it didn't mention the 8525.
I had the old 8125 and bought the 8525 my spl is 1.06.
Question which one of these tweaks can I use with the 8525
1) smartskey
2) omapclockplus
3) molski custom tweaks (any or all)
What other tweaks are using with this new 8525 that you used with the old 8125?

1. should work
2. Will not work, the 8525 does not have a TI omap processor (but it does have a 400mhz proc, havent seen a need to overclock yet)
3. maybe.. havent tried them

ive had the blue angle for a while and its about time that i upgraded but before i do that i need to find out if there is one model of the universal (Universal Dopod 900 / Qtek 9000 / MDA Pro / I-mate JASJAR / O2 Xda Exec / SPV M5000 / Qtek v1640 ) that is better than the other?
thanks in advance your opinions and comments will be very helpful
They all have identical hardware, apart from the colour of the case and keyboard backlight. Personally, i think the O2 XDA Exec in black looks best.
The only differences are in the installed roms, and you can install any rom you like using the instructions in the XDA Dev wiki.
thanks alot your help is very appreciated
Hi Y´all!
As I understand it the HTC Wizard came in two different forms; Wizard & Prodigy (or Wizard 100 and Wizard 110 as I´ve read they are sometimes called), with the groups being as follows:
Wizard:
i-Mate K-Jam
O2 XDA Mini
Orange SPV M3000
Qtek 9100
T-Mobile MDA Vario
Prodigy:
Dopod 838
Cingular 8125
Vodafone VPA Compact II
What is really the difference between the two of these groups (besides the slight difference in shape), are there any at all?

As far as I can see, they are actually the same (including the shape). HTC Prodigy was the original Code Name which was then changed to Wizard on its release (like Hermes is TyTn). Certain vendors may have the case recoloured (QTek) or have it slightly changed (O2 has the O2 logo embossed on it), but they are essentially the same.
ok so I accidentily mixed up the names of the two groups, according to geekzone (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/smartdevices.asp?phonemodelid=17 && http://www.geekzone.co.nz/smartdevices.asp?phonemodelid=156) the prodigy are the five devices in the top list and the wizard are the other three.
Plus they do look a bit different as seen in these pics:
cingular 8125:
http://www.uncrate.com/men/images/cingular-8125.jpg
qtek 9100:
http://www.joncollins.net/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2006/05/qtek-9100.jpg
The thing is that we develop an application running on these devices and now my development crew tell me that our application is handled differently by these two groups...

From what I have read, the K-Jam and the XDA Mini S ARE both Wizards. Of this I am fairly certain. (They look like the one you posted from joncollins.net)
The HTC Prodigy in most pictures looks like the Wizard and in the Specs sounds like the wizard. In one set (on www.phones2udirect.co.uk) it says the Wizard has Windows PPC 2005 while the Prodigy has WM5 (and I know my "Wizard" has WM5).
The images of those with a different case seem to be few and far between (inlcuding the ones on the geekzone.co.nz pages you posted which have a different shell, but otherwise the specs are the same). Try Google images for more, but they all seem to look like my phone (XDA Mini S) too.
I'd recommend getting it to work on a standard Wizard (which seems the most prevalent design) and if someone can say that there is a problem with Phone X, get one in as there seems to be confusion over which is which (and there is also the HTC Prophet, just to try and confuse people more....).
{Edit} Maybe this will help -
European products - http://www.europe.htc.com/products/
Japanes product - http://www.japan.htc.com/product.htm
American Products - http://www.america.htc.com/products/default.html
The american one seems to have the phone you are on about and the T-Mobile MDA then everything else below that is something else I have not seen before.... but they are actually a different machine.{/edit}
thanks for the answer, very descriptive
I'm getting really confused by the barrage of new models dished out by HTC recently. what is the difference between HTC Hermes and HTC TyTN?
thank you in advance and appologies if this is not the correct forum for the question.
regards,
As far as I know, there aren't differences. The Hermes name was when this product has been launched on the market
Ciao, Cesare
Hermes is the generic code name used by HTC for all the devices.
TyTN is the comercial name used by HTC itself to sell the Hermes devices.
You can find it under many other names:
O2 XDA trion / T-Mobile MDA Vario II / Vodafone 1650 VPA Compact III / Orange SPV M3100 / Dopod CHT 9000 / Dopod 838 Pro / hTc Z / Qtek 9600 / iMate JasJam / Cingular 8525
See this page for more information:

Qtek 9100 is exactly the same phone than Mda Vario. Only difference is just a brand.

Hello,
i'm about to upgrade my phone from m3100 to the HTC TyTN II and then use shap's rom 440 beta would the gps still work after upgrading or would it kill the gps
thanks
Paul
Check in the kaiser forums. If you were somehow able to flash a ROM from this forum on a kaiser (Tytn II), you would more than likely brick the phone,
Tytn = Hermes
Tytn II = Kaiser
