calling all Skype users on Orange ROM

does the sound from skype come out from your main speakers or the phone speakers (the one you use when making normal phone conversations?)
would just like to know coz on my Qtek ROM, the sound comes out from the main speakers and i wanna direct it to the phone speakers.
a member of this forum on Orange ROM says his comes out from the phone speakers but as he is only one, i would like to find out from other users to see what they have to say.

Non O2 stereo headset

Just wondering if anyone is using a non genuine headset with there O2 xda II mini? While I had my genuine ones that come with the unit the audio dropped to one ear only, I tried another (non O2) set of headphones which were actually better qaulity and working fine on my other phone but had the same result.
Anyway I sent the mini and non genuine headphones across the country to O2's service centre and have just recieved an email which states "As PHF is a non genuine O2 Accesory it is most likely incompatable with XDA II Mini. Therefore we quote to replace PHF. Thank you."
I find it extremely hard to believe that any 2.5mm headphone jacked headphones would not work in the mini so was just wondering if anyone else could conform either way
Cheers all,
marto
The answer is actually rather simple!
If you look at the original O2 XDA Mini headphones (and many other originals for phones with a 2.5mm jack) then you will notice that it is a 4 contact plug: that is, there is one point of contact at its tip and three points of contact along the plug (marked out by black rings). 4 contacts by the way = microphone, two audio channels and a ground.
Most replacement ones are only 3 contact, thus they are missing the inner black ring - which is usually the right audio channel (or left... not quite sure!). But if you really must get your 3 contact earphones/converter to work in the O2, you need to have the plug only partially in the socket... pull it out a bit while playing music and you should find the sweet spot! Though note that it probably wont stay in the plug, plus since 3 contact earphones lack a microphone then you'll have to remember to unplug your earphones before making a call.
Awesome response
Now why couldn't I get a straight answer like that from the O2 Call centre or the Service centre
Cheers again,
marto

Had 2 sets of genuine O2 headsets now. Same thing's happened both times. I've lost the audio in the right earphone. I've checked my hima audio jack and the solder connections are fine. It's definitely the headset that's playing up. Even went so far as to cut the headphones off at the mic portion and solder new ones down but the same thing still happens. No sound on the right.
Anyone else experienced loss of audio in one earphone after a while and if so, how the hell did you fix it?
All I can say is lucky you not in Australia trying to get something done at O2's service centre here (mpsqld)...
When I sent the unit back for the second time and included the motorola headset I was trying to use this was there reply
As PHF is a non genuine O2 Accesory it is most likely incompatable with XDA II Mini.

  most likely?????? gee what a firm response
What a joke! ended up having to ring them (following no replies from several emails) asking if they actually physically tested the unit or just blamed in on the "non genuine" headset.
The motorola headset works fine (stereo sound) with my wife's motorola phone so told them to just sent it all back!
hey i just got my wife the jamin (i got a jam) and the headset from the jamin works on the jam if that helps.
infact i prefer the jamin headset cause its a bit more heavy duty.
I've bought a 2.5 mm to 3.5mm coverter (off ebay) and use ordinary headphones, music quality is much better then on the ones bundled with the phone.

HTC HD2 - call recording application

Hello everyone,
I am going to buy HTC HD2 from O2 soon. I've just spent a couple of
minutes in the shop playing with the phone and it's great.
The only thing keeping me away from buying it is the lack of call recording
application. I need to record my incoming and outgoing calls.
So, my question is: Have you come across any application to record the calls
if not, is anything like that in the pipeline?
Thanks,
Laurentius26 ROMS have Automatic Call recording, application which record phone calls automatically and after the call, ask you if you want to save them or not... it is call ACR... I have not managed to find the application that same application that works on the HD2 outside Lau's rom... maybe if we ask him?....
Anyway, yes there is an application..

Would be great to have that on the HD2, but I don't want to flash my HD2!
Try Audio Notes Touch at from iWindowsMobile at iwindowsmobile.com/mobile-audio-recorder.html

thanks, but my point was laurentius has it working on his rom.....
this version..well
"Devices that only work one way
Touch HD2
HTC XDA2
Xperia X1"
Apparently ACR suffers from very low caller volume and I've just tried Audio Notes Touch v1.03 and its the same.. really would be nice to find a fully working set of software that will work on our HD2's..
Hi Terry,
I ve noticed you are with O2. Did you have any problem
using ANT 1.3 in the UK, as it says its "These applications are not legal in all countries".
You said:"suffers from very low caller volume", cld u tell me more pls.
Can you hear the conversation well when re-listen? (does it help if u plug your headphones in to re-listen?)
Is there any noise in the background? Is it enough clear to understand the talk?
I am not a native speaker thats why I am asking about the details.
Thanks
This works on some depending how the mic is wired.

To be honest I did forget to mention one important thing which is I always use a bluetooth headset which may well have an effect so I'll have to try it again without it..
With the bluetooth it records my voice perfectly but the caller can hardly be heard as they are very quiet...(this is by playing it back with bluetooth switched off and listening to the phones speaker..if I playback a recording while still connected to bluetooth I hear nothing at all!) Sorry but I dont use plug in headphones of any sort at all as I don't like getting tangled up in wires
There is no problem with background hiss or static but you would need to be somewhere really quiet to be able to hear the recorded callers voice (in fact on my second test call,I couldn't hear it at all) no need to applogise for your language..this is the only one I know so it's me who should be blushing from ignorance.
Now going to try again but without bluetooth...
Well,if you use the phone without bluetooth it seems to work perfectly...my voice was crystal clear and the other voice was as clear as it was when I was speaking to them (obviously if you have poor reception due to your connection, quality of the recorded voice will be at the same level)
I've also just found some other recorders that I'm going to test out ,when I can, to see if any of them offer bluetooth support!

[Q] Bluetooth headset (mono) low mic/outgoing volume

After switching from WM to Android, people often complain they can barely hear me while talking through my H710 bluetooth headset, that works perfectly well in WM and/or with PC. How do i reconfigure it to actually work properly ?
PS: let me clarify again, i am talking about the OUTGOING audio, the one received by the other party. The audio volume on my side is fine.
bump
No replies at all... how expectable
Just wanted to add, i've tested the very same ROM on the very same kernel with a different earphone (Nokia BH-105, borrowed it from a coworker), and it is working perfectly well, meaning it's also headset dependent, too
I'm facing the same problem..

I am thinking about just buying a different headset, can you tell the headset you are trying so i wouldn't even try that one ?
The headsets are not the problem.. the problem is in Sense ROMs.. i suggest you trying CyanogenMod roms.. some said that that bluetooth issue is sorted out!
I have a similar problem. I tried using two different headsets: mono - Bluetrek Sense and stereo - Plantronics 590. Both worked fine with the original firmware windows mobile. But after installing the Android firmware RAFDROID HD 4.0.2, my voice with a microphone headset is too quiet.
