does anyone have the original green TyTn dialing skin I can install on the 8525? or do i need to install the WHOLE TyTn Rom. If it is the latter then how would i go about doing that?

www.paulya.com. I just installed the Ti44_Lime dialer and it is working fine on my 8525. So I am assuming they work with the 8525.
I was pleasantly surprised to find it worked!!!!

I really only have one skin and I pulled it from the Wizard forums. I don't remember the name of it. It was a nice skin though. The buttons were bigger and the caller ID pic showed up larger as well. If I can remember the name of it and find it, I'll post it.
UPDATE: Here's the skin I use on my 8125. Works great. Was thinking of putting it on the 8525.

I use XBluePad Dialer originally for the Wizard. Works great!
does anybody know a black skin?
Question? Is there a new dial skin out for the 8525 with new rom update with Ptt enabled? The old ones will not work as the icons are missing giving you an error on the PTT
nobody????????????????
Come on guys!! help us out. HTC even released the new rom that has PTT enabled but you can't put the old skins on due to the PTT icons missing!

I'm in the same boat, I tried using my old E-Ten Dialer + Black Skin + Smart Dialer, however smart dialer doesn't work.
I've tried about 10-20 different combinations and none have worked, I'd love to get a response on this regarding the new ROM.

more than likely the dialers deleted the dpadmenu.dll and added its own, this will screw up the way that PTT works.. and can even screw up the buttons... so installing a new dialer is not a good idea.. UNLESS you open the cab and remove the dpadmenu.dll... however if you dont rely or use PTT then i wouldnt worry about it..

what dialer are you using? better yet, pm me..
actually i had another thought.... instead of changing a ton of dialers you can simply do this.. download Wince cab manager from OCP software, then use that to open the dialer cab... then remove the file dpadmenu.dll, save the cab and transfer it to your phone and install. This will prevent the file from being overwritten...
If you have already installed a dialer that messed up your PTT then try this cab i made that will replace the dpadmenu.. i made a cab as the file is a system file and will more than likely not allow you to copy into the windows folder without throwing a fit..

I guess I am little slow on what to do. These are few dialers I am trying to use but the ptt icons are missing on the phone dial pad. Therefore you cant really use the function of the ptt correctly. I installed these dialer pads and then your file. didnt see a change in the function
yes, i was correct, they did have the dpadmenu.dll in them... i edited them but have not tried them, but all i did was add the dpadmenu.dll to them and remove the old one.
Yes I did the same thing but it doesnt work right. When you click the PTT button it shows your contacts in Ptt. Push them and it connects but the dial pad screen doesnt pop up afterwards like the orginal to see who it is and you can't convert them to cellular or turn speaker phone off or on. Even if you exit the Ptt screen after connect to them and you bring the dial pad up none of the above works still nor has the icons. The dial skins need to be provisoned with all the new icons IMO

Where can I find or make my own dialer skins? On the upgrade in the o2 active you have the ability to change dialer skins, but I can't seem to find where they are located.
Sorry zabes where are you referring to in the ability to change dialer skins?
On the XDA II I think the dialer sking is a collection of a dozen of so *.jpg files that live in the windows directory.

I'm not sure if the PSK Installer can handle depressed buttons. For unknown reasons, Microsoft decided to store the skin as a set of image files - except for the depressed key, which is a resource inside a DLL. I made two DLLs for two of the better known skins. If you have access to a resource editor, you can change those to whatever you want.
This issue has been discussed in this forum earlier, use the Search feature to find the thread. And here's the URL to my two DLLs (sorry, German only): http://www.tadzio.com/ppc/index.html

YUP! Your depressed buttons dlls are also really good but I'm glad you popped in to make them known again.
My choice is the Candy red DLL for these skins really as it really makes the skins look good on the device.
Maybe you can help me to design some more depressed buttons in different shapes, let me show you what I mean...
In the attached image, you can see the round buttons, the problem here is that the depressed button dlls are the normal round corner rectangle shape, which makes the skin look less good on the device.

I can certainly help you, but you can also do that yourself. You need to find a program that can edit resources inside an executable file (DLL counts as executable). Many Borland IDEs can do that, as well as Visual Studio. I'm sure there are other resource editors as well, I just don't know them.
So, all you need to do is open the only bitmap resource in one of my DLLs, edit it, then write it back to the DLL.
Again, if you want me to, I can also help you and put some images into a DLL. Just email me the images (as BMP files).
Cheers
Daniel
Thanks Daniel,
I'm going to get an editor on my machine and give it a go. Thanks for the help.

Got the PE Explorer resource editor which is nice.
Extracted your candy red icon file, now I just need a nice icon maker! haha
I also found that you if clear the registry setting for the depressed button, then the phone skin won't show any depressed state, while not as pretty as the depressed button it's another option.

I see from your Avatar that your sporting the new Hermes headset. It's nice 'cos it doesn't require the Bluetooth connection - you just tuck the Hermes inside next to your ear and away you go; and with Wifi on it keeps your ear warm as well. I've heard a rumour that there's a dual core Hermes with twin hand-sets that keeps both ears warm. Bit itchy though??

Not sure what the problem is, Zgembo was able to get it extracted and working. Are you just extracting the whole folder onto your desktop (or somewhere) and then moving it over to the phone?
Exactly, simple as cake... Just copy two file to any folder of your phone, and run it... Dialer (bigger .cab file) is just an option, instals as standard application... Skin (.tsk file) is very compact, and just double click it to add it to phone's themes... You can delete these files after installation...

i can build wizard roms and cabs, etc.. but when it comes to *.tsk and dialer skins, i will admit defeat.. i have tried at those and failed so many times.. its not that i couldnt create them, its that they looked horrible.. i am seriously lacking in artistic skills.. i might look into anyway since i am dying to start cooking roms but the bootloaders on these phones right now is a major roadblock.. we will see what time has in store for me
Excellent phone skin! I love it!
i found the site where the nice dialer was from:
http://www.paulya.com/dialerskins.htm
he appears to have E-TEN dialers with Smartdial (scroll down to the bottom round classic) It states the "Blackglass" has smartdial. Anyone try that out on a TyTN?
Anyone know how to fix the AeroMobile.tsk theme to support the Portrait mode? When I slide out my keyboard, the skin should strech but doesn't. I tried to fix it with MS Theme Generator, but no luck... Any suggestions? I'm using Pocket PC 2002 Theme Generator V2, as that seems to be the last release from MS.

I see the hotvoice.exe in the /Windows directory, but it doesn't seem to run for me... nor does it show up as a valid Button assignment. It worked fine on my 8125... did Cingular not include this in the ROM?
hotvoice.exe was linked as the Record button on the 8125. I can launch Notes and voice record from there, I just wanted a more direct way to get there.

What ROM are you on? If you do not use PTT, using the leaked Cingular 2.06 ROM then you can do the following. Remap one of your buttons to the app. You must create a shortcut to it first so that it shows up in the app list when you try to remap buttons. If you do not want to change your normal buttons try Sleuth's PPTFix to use the PTT button to launch the app.
I'm still working thru the info here as a newbie to the ROMS...
My Device info says ROM 1.34.502.1, however I'm not sure that corresponds to the general #'s I see flying around (I have read the Wiki, and while there's a lot of good info, its also written with a lot of assumption that you already know a lot of the lingo)....
Anyway, I have tried linking to the app from the Programs folder..and that link does show up in the Buttons list... but I can't get the app to launch, period

OK, you've got the stock ROM, look for and install Sleuth's PTTFix, create a shotcut to Hotvoice.exe on your 8525, and map the PTT button to the hotvoice app. It will only show after creating the shortcut in \Windows.
I've installed the PTTfix and the PTT button works fine. While this gives me extra buttons, this shouldn't be needed, should it? (ie. any reason why I can't assign Record to buttons 1-4?)
But hotvoice.exe will not launch.. I cannot launch it from the file explorer either.
Given that Record does not show up in the default list of buttons (as it does on the 8125), it seems like it doesn't work, at least not in the default ROM??

Yes, you can change them to whatever you wish, I was just providing another suggestion. I prefer to leave my standard buttons as they are.
Ok, so the basic problem is that it appears that hotvoice.exe does not execute on my Hermes (regardless of button assignment)
I guess the question is whether or not it is supposed to run on my stock ROM? and/or if there is a way to add it.
Thanks,
Mike

You need a shortcut that calls MSVOICE ( I found this in one of Sleuth's threads)... See below for link to shortcut... Note: you must copy it to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and map one of your buttons 1-4 to it. I read it will not work on button 5, so if you need to launch an app that you had mapped to its original button, you can remap that to 5 if needed. Note also that you will have a Record icon in programs, it doesnt work if you try to launch it from Programs, only by assigning to a button.
Get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=31341&d=1163177903

No problem, I found that the difference is in how the shorcut is made. If you look at the content by opening it with Wordpad on your PC for example... you can see differences in the shortcuts... some ppl where making shortcuts to hotvoice.exe and renaming the shortcut to Record.lnk, some were renaming wrong... but this works for sure.
hotvoice.exe not working
Mike & ercave1, I'm also looking into usign the hotvoice.exe. I have the new ROM, even downloaded the shortcut link and nothing happens. Via Resco Explorer, I first unhide the files to view hotvoice.exe. there I find the hotvoice.exe which is 3K, and hotvoice.lnk (14B) I create a new shortcut from the .exe to the start menu. Nothing happens, I used the shortcut that ercave1 recommended and nothing. Looks like the hotvoice.exe in the Cingular 8525 new ROM and perhaps original ROM does not work or is corrupted. Looking at the attributes, hotvoice.exe shows the following: Read-Only, Hidden, System, ROM. Any help would be greatly aprreciated.

How are you accessing the .lnk? Use the shortcut from the zip file.
You must place it in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs (this makes it visible in the button map app)
Then remap one of your buttons 1-4 to Record. Soft Reset.
I applied this today on my 8525 without a problem.
Yes, i unzipped the link from the file i downloaded, then i transferred it to the start menu. No luck on that. I also have a program called SKTools and there is an option to configure the 5 buttons of the 8525. It allows me to browse by file or by Alias. I noticed one of the ALIAS is :MSHOTVOICE. I tried that ALIAS along with another called :MSVOICE to no avail (I did a reset BTW). Do you have the new ROM or the original cause im not getting this hotvoice to work at all.

Hi guys, I am new to this forum but have read and benefitted from some of your posts.
Zim,
Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but the Notes app is setup to do voice records on the 8525. I will grant you this... there are absolutely NO instructions about it in the manual so I had a hell of a time finding it, but through looking around I finally discovered this.
Just open Notes and then click Menu>Show Recording Toolbar. Now you can record voice records all you want and it puts them in your notes folder for review.
Then, of course, you can map any of your buttons 1-4 to the Notes app and, since you selected to show the recording toolbar, all you do is press the mapped button and then "New" and speak.
Hope this helps (someone).

cool thanks, this seemed to help.
it is odd for me the record short cut will not work directly but if map the button to it, it will work and as long as you hold the button in. it keeps recording till you are out of time.
as jwpetree said the the other way to use the recorder is to open notes 1st.
now to find a tweak to give more recording time.
I have the Softkey program already.... and I am guessing that the recent calls are part of the phone program and that there probably isn't a separate exe for it... but if anyone knows how to pull up the call list I would really appreciate it. Everyone ignores me on here and I know it's the cool thing to do but you could be an awesome trend setter by throwing me a bone!

Try this. It's work for me.
Thanks dude... really appreciate it... trying to figure out how to make it show up as an option in Softkey... tried putting it in program files, didn't work... so now trying the Windows dir.
Nevermind, used a diff. soft key app that allows you to choose program path... works like a charm, I am in your debt!

- Download the CallHistory.zip from Post number two
- Extraxt the CallHistory.exe anywhere to your pda (memory or storagecard)
- Now search for Remap Softkeys on google and install the cab file on your pda
- When installed open it and change the path of the left softkey with the CallHistory.exe
I tried 5 different callhistory.exe and this is the first one that actually brought up the history and not the dialer. Thanks!
This is not a program, but just registry settings to use the built-in biotouch.exe to call Manila Control in order to toggle between M2D and Today.
Notes:
must install Manila Control to \Windows\ before the attached .cab
the cube no longer works after installing this, but the corresponding processes (i.e. QuickDial.exe, MediaHubMini.exe and APLauncher.exe.exe) may still in your memory unless you replace the .exe by dummy programs or kill the processes.
must backup the original [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Biotouch\Biotouch] before installing the attached cube, otherwise won't be able to restore the cube.
toggling M2D/Today using softkeys as shown in the demo video is NOT set by the attached .cab

Vogue uses different registry settings. please try the newly added cap in post #1. pls be prepared for bug-fixing time because i can't test it on my own. for safe, pls do a backup, especially the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Biotouch\Biotouch] registry key, before installing.
good luck.

surely none of the 3 uploaded version would fit the vga devices.
if you want a try, i guess the Polaris version can be a good start. pls be prepare for the pull-up screen being in 1/4 size.
pls do let me know the testing result and see whether i can find a way to fix it. if it doesn't work at all, pls kindly let me know the following registry key values on your device:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Biotouch\Biotouch]
"App1"
"Cube1"
"Path11"
thanks for your interest.

Is it possible to use this on HTC Touch (Elf)?
And also I would like to change running program from ManilaControl to any other, for example CommManager.
I've installed reg settings from the Vogue cab (is it right?), and copied original Biotouch.exe and dummy APLauncher.exe, MediaHubMini.exe and QuickDial.exe to the windows dir, created shortcut for biotouch.exe in the windows/startup folder and Soft-reseted my device.
Now when I make touch gesture the screen appears into black and nothing happens.
Is it possible using registry settings to bind touch gesture to run any exe (for example, commmanager.exe)?
Thank you for answers!

sorry i really can't answer your question because i haven't played around with a Jade before and I don't have any friends who have bought one. the main prob is, i don't know the version no. of biotouch shipped with Jade.
if you really want a try,
do a full backup (so that you can hard reset + restore in worst case)
backup/export the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Biotouch] registry subtree
try the Polaris version
good luck

Elf's built-in biotouch version is different from Vogue's. pls find the Vogue's version, which should appear in those threads about installing 4-sided cube on Elf

basically yes. the trick is in the "App1" reg key. if the app being called has a visible window and you want to use the swipe-down gesture to hide it (like the original cube), the first part of the key value must be the right class name. otherwise, like the case for Manila Control, simply use a non-exist class name.
I've duplicated my commanager.exe and mui files and renamed them to biotouch.exe and biotouch.exe.mui, so now after the touch gesture commanager is running. It works!
Here is the test cab file, i haven't tested it on a clean device, but it seems to be work. If it doesn't working, post here please.

though not totally take if off, but editing the registry keys as below can minimize its appearance:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Biotouch\Biotouch]
"TotalBMP"=dword:00000001
"Cube1"=hex:07,01,01,01,01,01,01,01,0A,C8,C9,CA,CB ,01,01,01,01,01,01
"UpFPS"=dword:0000FFFF
if you want to further cut down the size of the snoopy image that may appear for a short time, you can also change the below key:
(for Nike and Polaris) "Path1"="mc01.brn"
(for Vogue) "Path1"="\Windows\mc01.brn"
Is it possible to call manilla from any program with this gesture fix?
I mean the way I call and close cube by just scrolling tumb up or down.
