Customize Alarm and Missing Today plugin - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hey guys.. what format do i need to have my sounds in so i can choose my OWN alarm. I converted a few to wav but they don't show up in the list of reminderes or alarms. Can you help or do i need a 3rd party app? (i'd rather not go this route due to system resources).
2ndly... for some reason.. my messaging plugin has dissapeared (the one that lets you know if you have a txt msg or not). I can't see it in the list in today settings. Have no idea where it is or gone. what registry edits do i need to look for to restore it? I think it happend after i installed alarm today.
thanks. SINC.

HTC Home plugin Alarm configuration

Hello,
does anybody now where the alarm configuration tool is configured? I mean the application that is triggered when the HTC home plugin clock is clicked.
Nothing can be found in the registry and google and these forums are also 'fruitless'...
It is hard to imagine that HTC has hard-coded such a application in their application...
Greetings,
Peter Vrenken
go to Settings > System > Clock & Alarms.
I would like to start ptravelalarm instead of the standard Windowsclock touching the HTC clock. Is that possible?
This is exactly what i am trying to do... Just not with the ptravelalarm application
Is there anybody who knows how to achieve this?
Greetings,
Peter Vrenken
Is there noone that knows how to achieve this?
People have asked about changing the HTC Home actions before (normally the three buttons on the Home Tab, but I think this will be the same).
A lot of devs have looked at this and cannot find any settings that govern the applications launched.
Only thing left to do is open up your Hex editor and get hacking. (Let me know if you fix it )
Ta,
Dave
Jikes!
no thank you... :-(
Bummer...
you can just overwrite the clock.exe since u cant delete it. i promise u can overwrite it. my htc home opens a diff alarm program for me now . the thing is getting the alarm to change icons and it's just pointing htchome.dll in the right direction. I already have an idea how i just have to be sure how to change hklm to hkcu in registry and point it to where i want it yeah
overwriting clock.exe to the program u want works. only thing is to make the alarm on icon in htc home to pop up. I have located it in the htchome.dll... the thing is to change the values coz it is pointed to hklm for the indicator rather than hkcu where programs would be. any hex "readable" tutorials u guys can point me to so i can look into this better?

Alarm Tone

I'd like to have an mp3 as my morning wake up call instead of the default alarm tones. Is it a massive issue to do this? I can't seem to find an easy way to do it. I'm assuming i'm gonna have to edit the length of the file, convert it and then save it to the /windows/rings folder?
Does this sound right?
The easy way is "Klaxon", an amazing freeware application to manage alarms with mp3 song.
Another applications is G-Alarm but I have read about some problem with HD2 and is not freeware.
In my HD2 now I use Klaxon and I like it very much.

Erik
in file manager save the mp3 as a ringtone, should show up in alarms then too (although I haven't tried)
Saving as a ringtone will not add it to the alarms list, I've tried it. I used mp3splitter to chop an mp3 up, then converted it to a wav on my PC (sorry can't remember the name of the freeware that does this, something obvious like mp3towav anyways). Once converted drop the wav into the Windows folder, it will now show up in the alarm tones list (note there is a filesize restriction, I have a file just over 4MB in size, however when I tried a longer tone that came to 8MB it didn't show).
Klaxon sounds like an easier alternative to all that though!
RE: Klaxon - does it replace the inbuilt alarms UI? By that I mean when you press the alarms button on the homescreen, does it take you to Klaxon? Can you post a link to the version of Klaxon you are using on your HD2? Thanks!
Put 'em into the root directory of the MicroSD
I have an MP3 ringtone for calls and another one for reminders... worked straight out of the box without any messing around - from the Settings tab to "Sounds & Display" to "Notification sounds".
On mine, it's able to automatically access anything that's in the root directory of the Storage Card.
Is it possible to have the alarm on continuous ring? On default the alarm rings once, stops for 10-15 seconds then rings again.

ringtones disappear and not saved

Hi,
Managed to set MP3 as ringtones using two different methods:
1. Via music player, long press and then 'Set As'
2. Using applications, called shartones and another one called ringtone.
Immediately after I create/save the ringtone I can see it is the list and I can choose it.
I used shartones application, edited an MP3 20 sec, saved as ringtone.
The ringtone was added to the list OK, the file WAS created in \sdcard\media\audio\ringtones\ and the file is still there after the restart, but doesn't appear in the ringtones list anymore...
When i add or move files into this directory it is useless and I can't see them on the list.
As if when I add a ringtone it is added to the database but entries are deleted when the phone starts up again...
After I turn off the phone and on again, all the ringtones are gone and none is in the list, the ringtone which is set is a default one from the original ringtones.
Does anyone have any clue for me where to look for a solution or find what goes wrong?
Thanks,
Ofer
I've set custom ringtones, notifications and alarms via settings and at least twice the SGS has lost or scrambled them (I'm not sure if it's related to me playing around with alternate launchers).
Anyway, I remember the exact same thing happening on my Nexus One and Eclair, so I think this is a basic Eclair bug rather than SGS specific.
I'm not sure how to replicate the issue, but it definitely can happen.
Hi,
did uninstall the launcherPro and restarted, I just go through same scenario again and again after each restart...
The files are piled in the ringtones directory but none appears in the ringtones list after restart.
Is there an editor that I can change file attribute, E.g. 'ringtone=Y'? (assuming there is such attribute to be set for a file?! )
Then maybe it will be picked properly to the list.
Guys any idea?
Help please.
Ofer

HTC custom notifications

is there a way to change the notifications into different sounds than the default ones they give you. I have othr mp3 files I would like to have in place for the default ones they give
please offer a little more information on the background. what rom are you using? what exact notification are you trying to replace? have you checked the "sounds & notifications" settings, whether there is the option which you are trying to change?

Click to collapse
rom, i have no clue,, but i got the most recent update form tmobile, and been adding things from other users,
I checked sounds and notifications, but yet I cant find the folder thhat can be used for notifications
Hi,
The way I do it is put all the ringtone files you want to use in the folder on the root of your SD card called My Documents (if it's not there then create it).
Then got to Settings/Sounds & Notifications - select notifications tab at the bottom. All the files you added to the folder should be in the dropdown now.
Hopefully that helps.
Cheers.

default ringtone keeps changing to mp3

I just signed up with Verizon and got the sgs5 running 4.4.4 kitkat. I change the default ringtone in settings>sounds or in the phone app in settings>call>...and it keeps it for 3-8 hours then changes it to a song that is on my sd card. Has anyone heard of this before? I have been working with Samsung to no avail. I suppose I could take the sd card out and see what happens. I did install a new sms messaging app...Textra. I guess I could uninstall and see if that changes things but wondered if that wasn't the reason. Thanks
Yes, I had it happen at times before.
I'm stock and use handcent sms and a few other apps that give you the choice of having that app have unique ringtones, while everything else uses what's in the system settings sounds.
I tried copying ringtones to the internal, but still persisted. For me there was a simple fix (I wanted the mp3 ringtones I had made myself ) to use my custom ringtones from the sound settings menu.
First, I setup my custom ringtones in the system sound menu settings.
Second, from the app (in my case one was handcent) I choose the option in there to select ringtones and I chose the system picker as the default "picker" instead of the app as default app. Then - when choosing which sound to play - rather than "default", I choose the same costum ringtone I setup previously in the system menus.
I noticed that initially if I had picked only "default" and had thay specific app as the default app to do the task, my ringtones would often reset to the true system default.
Anyhow, hope that makes sense. It works for me & I'm no longer scratching my head as to why in the heck my ringtones/notification sound reset all the time - they're fine now and remain how I selected them to work.
Sent from my primary sender for sending.
