How to open/mark received SMS - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hello!
How is it possible to oben the SMS-Folder und read in the messages or mark the messages as read?
Benne

That would be really simple:
Tap messaging (should be a plugin on your screen) or enter pocket outlook through start menu.
Select Menu->Switch Accounts and select text messages you are now in your SMS inbox.

On mine, tap and hold a message and mark as unread.
V

When you read the SMS it's automatically marked as read, like Vijay555 said, tap and hold gives you the option to mark it as "unread"

Bearing in mind the forum... I believe he needs to write his own app to do it and asks for a code sample or an API reference...

In what language? VB.NET C# C++
I believe MAPI should do, though I must admit I never tried it.

I use c# - and of course I wanted to write a program *g*

Cut / Paste and Dialing from a web page or text message?

G'Day,
I have three issues with the i-mate and that is the ability to:
1. dial a selected telephone number from received text (SMS) messages or email messages;
2. save the selected telephone number from received text (SMS) messages or email messages into contacts;
I transferred my Telstra message service from MessageBank to Memo so that I did not need to write the name and number before calling. Memo sends the message via text (SMS) message which enabled to return telephone calls directly from text (SMS) message. On the i-mate, I can not select the telephone number to return calls from text (SMS) messages.
3. cut and paste from web pages or text messages.
For example cut name, telephone, address, email address and company name from emails or text (SMS) messages and paste into contacts.
I know that the Treo 600 has this ability and I'm hoping that the i-mate can perform these functions also. If not, I might have to swap to the Treo 600!
It would be greatly appreciated for any assistance to solve these issues.
Thank you.
Marcus
I can cut and paste from other areas but not from web pages, emails or text (SMS) messages.
If I receive a text (SMS) message, email or web page with a telephone number in the message, I must write it down, open the phone and type in the telephone number. After the call I can then transfer to contacts.
How do you cut from web pages, emails or text (SMS) messages and paste to phone or contacts or calender?
ctrl-c, ctrl-v
I don't know but I always open the keyboard and as in desktop windows i use ctrl-c and ctrl-v or ctrl-x to copy und paste!!! of course you have to be able to highlight the test..... :wink:
Thank you rdkay. Your advice works and has already been useful.
I am currently deciding between the i-mate (XDAII) and the Treo 600.
This now makes it much more difficult to choose!
if you hold in the pen dont you get a menu ?
If I open the text (SMS) message and hold the pen on the telephone number in the message a pop-up menu displays "new - delete - move - reply - forward - mark as unread".
No "copy" as it does if selecting "From" and certainly no "call".
I have spoken to i-mate support and they are aware of this missing functionality.
The intergration between the phone and the sms does not seem to be as well developed as with normal telephones.

... you have to tap reply or forward to be able to edit the text and then you will be able to use at least the copy/paste "technique".
PavelR.
Thanks PavelR.
Finding it very difficult to choose between i-mate and Treo 600.
To copy from a web page:
Highlight the text.
On the menu, select Tools->Copy.
To copy from a text message:
Highlight the text.
On the menu, select Edit->Copy.

Anyone know a faster way to send sms text message

So i changed from the 8125 to the wing and I have discovered it is much more difficult to send a new text message. You have to go through like 5 different commands...(open the message bar, select text message account, tap menu, scroll to new, scroll to sms) it just seems so tedious so i was wondering if anyone knows of a way to make it so i can have new message be one of my soft key choices (preferably where the delete soft key is). Its really annoying.
Thanks BP
How about when you install the HTC Home plugin, I HAD one until i bricked my phone yesterday :'( it came with the PDAVIET rom which was released some time ago.
What it does is, it shows on the Today screen a link to Email and one to SMS.
That's probably the fastest way.
Cheers
how 'bout putting the command "new sms" under a softkey ?
Or simply install the program "name" (sorry forgot the name) that puts a "New" menu at your left soft-key in the today screen, from there you can choose sms, e-mail, mms etc.. Just search for New menu
Press Contacts softkey. Scroll to the intended recipient. Tap, hold, pick "Send Text Message". Type text message. Press Send softkey.
What's the problem?
How About VIJay?
Hello,
I use VijaySMS All the time... It allows you to make a shortcut (I use SPB Today so I create the shortcuts in there) that either starts a blank SMS or start one to a specific contact. You can find the program at Vijay's webpage here: http://www.vijay555.com/
Enjoy!
You could set up the Message button to automatically go to your SMS Inbox when you press it.
Messaging Inbox > Menu > Tools > Options...
Select Text/SMS and uncheck "Display account picker when opening Messaging." This will automatically open your SMS Inbox, thus eliminating the first two steps of your problem.

Assigng PocketCm to open from Windows Notification Popup?

Right now, I have PocketCM assignged to my right softkey in order to send my text messages. No problem. What I would like to do, is set up the program to open when you get the notification of a recieved message. Much in the same way that Flexmail opens automatically.
Not necessarily opening on its own though, but when you click the right softkey after recieving the text, the menu pops up and asks, Call Sender, Save as read, Dismiss, Delete, or Open. How do i (can I?) set it up so that selecting the Open option will open PocketCM? Would I be correct in assuming that it's a registry tweak?
If the question has been answered already, which I'm almost sure it has to have been, I apologize. A search on this has brought up topics, either not nearly related to what I am looking for, or topics so old and/or convoluted to be of any service to someone who isnt already familiar with the subject matter.
I know it's mostly irrelevant in this instance, but I'm on a Tilt running Alex's newest Ultralight. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Same Question I Asked, I Was Told It Could Not Be Done, But Id Like To See What Everyone Has To Say...
From my end I dont see it being impossible, if programs like Flexmail & Sunnysoft Contacts can do it. Hell, Opera Mini can be set as the default browser. I think it just takes more knowledge of the subject matter than we currently have, lol
well if i have pocketcm minimized it pops up when i receive a message

This is true, but I'm a memory nazi who closes everything when I'm done using them. So while your way sorta "works", I'm really hoping to get it done the other way, lol.
Edit - Typo
I would like Pocket CM to open directly to the person's theaded sms window when i receive a message. Right now Pocket CM opens, but it's impossible to tell who sent it. SO then i have to use the notification window to open the default text message program.

rubbish: if you have "show text count on" the person who sent it is at the top of the list and the text count say 1/x
although i do agree it would be nice to open at the thread and even if pocketcm wasnt active at the time
I agree with above, the way PocketCM doesn't handle new messages was a deal-breaker for me. Everytime there is a new version I install it because i really like the look and feel, but i always take it off a couple of days later due to this issue. What's the point of having threaded SMS if you have to open a slow program to view the thread each time a new message comes in?
Esp now that WM 6.1 already uses threaded SMS. My Touch Dual supports flick and scroll already, so I guess the only interesting thing in PCM for me would be the nice transitions.

Ok, am I missing something? I have a sprint mogul with wm6. When I get a text message with window notification I do not have a "Open" option when i press the right soft key. i have Call Sender, Save as Read, Reply, and Dismiss. It's annoying when I have a long message that doesn't fit in the notification. I have to dismiss it and then go into Text Messaging to read the whole text. There is suppose to be an "open" option?

Deleting messages, is there a quick way?

I do like the swipe feature that enables you to read the headers of downloaded messages but is there a quick way of deleting messages rather than opening up the mail program and going menu>delete for each message?
You could try MS' MyPhone..even better, you could archive them so the text messages are accesible online.
You sync your phone first with MyPhone, do the archiving/deleting on the web..sync again..and you're done.
If you scroll further down in the popup after tapping "Menu", you get the option "select messages", then either "all", "all below", or "various" (but those are my own translations, the real English version may differ).

How can I search in SMS Message

I have HD2 and I want to search in SMS Message, so How can I do that pls
i am thinking about this too. the old messaging used to have this feature. i wonder why they took out this functionality,
You can use the 'Search Phone' app, think its under 'Tools' in the Start Menu as standard.
Select 'Messaging' under 'Type'
