Then where the mac is found address? in the driver? I have tried to look for the file dll that in the register you/he/she is quoted under the name of TIACXWLN.dll but I have not found him.
Doesn't a program that allows to change the mac address exist? on windows xp can be made both with the register and with various programs, under linux it is simple even more.
Possible that a program doesn't exist for windows mobile? A way there will be
i think u can under network adaptor settings in the network cards on wm5.
Why would you need to change it ?
unless ur upto somthing dodgy lol
in the settings of the network any voice doesn't exist for changing the mac address (as it was logical!)
i want to spoofing the mac of my lan

I had a JasJar and before it PDA2k and with both I could not mount network shares on my local home network. I write the address in file explorer in the format \\10.0.0.23\share where the share share does not even have a password and is share to everybody and the phone can not recognize the share.
It does see other devices on the local netword for example it can browse the Internet and access my routers web based admin but not the share.
Other computers on my home network can access the share.\
I heard there are programs that help in doing this, but is there no direct or free way to do this?
Try using Resco File Explorer in which you will be able to map shared network folders and then you can access them from File Explorer directly, it even support possword protected shared items.
Im using the standard file explorer, it works fine. I start by typing \\P4 which eventually shows my shares, and then I can navigate as I want.

still can not connect to share
Nasdaq, which version of windows do do you have the share on. Are there any special settings?
It gives me "network path was not found" always then "Network resource can not be found or you do not have the permission to access the network".
The share has no password, on windows it just logs me in without any further input.
I am using the openpath in the file explorer.
May be you need to check once again about IP Addresses and Default Gateway settings, which is not allowing you to connect with your LAN.
--Universal can't connect to Windows Server 2003--
Cant map to a Windows 2003 Server share? Is it also a Domain Controller? Check the server for
start / programs / administraton tools / Domain Controller Security Policy
Then check Local Policies / Security Options :
Microsoft Network Server: Digitally sign communications (always)
change to disabled
that will stop your universal from accessing a share normal windows machines can access.,.
Access shares problem is on Windows XP
This problem is on WindowsXP share not on windows server.
Also the imate can access the Internet and even the administration of the router, so I gues it has full TCP/IP abililty.
Are there any workgroup settings that I need to do?
Sorry for not getting back earlier, my share is on an XP sp1 box.
What I would REALLY like to do is browse my Exec over wifi from my PC. :?
Cheers
Nasdaq
Anyone got any other advice on this one?
Can't access my network shares with //192.168.0.1/ etc either?
Thanks
M.
I can't access shares by using the IP, I have to use the name of the machine: \\azhad instead of \\10.168.2.158
Azhad
Hi Guys,
what is this sharing stuff u r talking about?
Please excuse me for this newbee question but i want to know about what sort of sharing etc can i do with my Exec and Laptop, like exploring files on laptop from Exec or other way around?
My laptop has Windows XP sp2 and i use wireless router to share my broadband
many thnx......
Jatt
Try this up
I had the same problem accessing network shares on my Universal...
I was also typing IP address in Resco Explorer and it was not working.
But I could make it work using the computer name. I have no idea why it work whil with basic ip address it couldn't, but at least I am able to browse my computer folder and play video files.
So try using "\\computername\share" to see if it's working.
forrest.
I tried
I tried doing that, using the computer name. It takes more time to tell me that it can not access the server.
I think that to resolve the name of the computer it needs a wins server, is that correct?
Could it also be in your network settings if you set your network as internet or connects to work?
to Jatt
Jatt theoretically you should be able to create a network share on any computer on your network and be able to access it on your phone. This is really handy since you would not need to activesync to exchange files.
But note that for JasJar/Exec or any WM5 device you can not sync over the network just share files.
To ehabh
Thanks for trying to help me out but can u tell me how do i create a network share on my computer? please
Thanks again
Same problem
I've got the same problem. I can connect to the internet through my router but for the life of me I can't connect to the shared on my PC (XP SP2). I know it's not a problem with my EXEC because I can connect to my PC at work. I can see my PC in the device list but not connect to it.
The first time I tried to connect using Resco Explorer 05 I managed to ge the screen asking for log-on details, but never got any further as it said my passwork was incorrect. Since then I've never managed to get the log-on screen back only an error say the network resource was unavailable.
I've ran the XP network set-up wizard more times than I can count, changed my PC settings manually but still had no luck. Has no one figured out what we're doing wrong?
I didn't really understand the machine name issue as I don't have any WINS or DNS server at home... But for me it worked...
Anyway you should try to temporarily disable your personnal firewall (On the computer you're trying to access) just to see if it is not blocking network traffic for the windows sharing.
If it is the problem, then you have to configure your firwall to stop blocking this traffic...
Sorry, but it's all I know...

Hi! I have a question. Is there an application that gives you the possibility to change the mac adrress on wm6?? I'm using lg ks-20 and need to make changes in my mac adrress due to connect to my wi-fi internet in house...
For any help big thanks
Why would you need to change it to connect. I ask because it's hard/impossible to change the MAC. The MAC is hardcoded into the card. If you absolutely need to change the MAC addy you could try spoofing, but that's something I don't a lot about. Post your situation, and maybe we can help you out.

There are programs that change the mac adrress of wi-fi card. I need to do that because every mac adrress that connects to the server is saved. I meen that those cards that have the mac that is written in the server will connect but those that aren't in the database of the server will be rejected... I have a internet connection only form my pc internet card mac adrress. Now i want to chcange that adrress to be the same as in pc so i can connct to the internet via lg ks-20.
I hope that you understand what i am asking about...

Hello.
Is there a way to change the mac address of the wifi network interface of the titan?
I would like to be able to do that so I can use my titan's browser to authenticate to web portals, and then use my wifi voip phone (with the same mac address) to make calls.
Do you mean MAC address or IP address?
The MAC is a hardcoded address of the form xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx, using hex. MAC addresses cannot be changed as each interface has a unique number. The MAC address can be spoofed to match another interface, this is usually an available feature on routers to spoof to the ISP that you are not sharing a connection on your home network.
The IP address can be changed and is of the form xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx using only numbers. The WIFI interface on the titan will be set up for DHCP, ie it requests an address from the wireless source it is connected to. This can be changed to give the IP address required if DHCP is not availabe on the network selected.
I am talking about changing/spoofing the mac address if the network wifi card.
There are a bunch of utilities out there that are able to do so on the fly for windows XP, maybe someone has one for windows mobile?
Or a registry key location that does that?

Hi Drew,
I appreciate your reply, however, could you be a little more specific? reflash to rom meaning the Verizon Stock rom?
Ok, so my situation is that I go to a college where the wifi is only accessible by those who have their mac address entered into the system. Trouble is that they only allow laptops to do this and not pdas. So i would like to know if anyone has a way of letting me spoof the mac address of my laptop to the phone. Thanks. I've searched everywhere and can't find a thing. I tried some registry changes, but apparently they dont work..

As far as I'm aware you cannot change a physical MAC address as it is hardwired into the network interface card, therefore, the only way you could change it is by swapping out the main board.
Why would you want to change it?
You can't change it it's embedded into the wireless hardware, why would you want to?
I found this program Macshift for XP http://devices.natetrue.com/macshift/.
Maybe someone can change it to work on wm.
but the same question exists...why do you want to change your MAC address?
the Mac address is a combination of the manufacturers code and the device serial number. The result being that no two devices anywhere in the world have the same Mac address....should this happen in real life..all sorts of problems can occur with web based communications.
this been asked since the first htc device with wifi was released search
networking forum for info
as far as i know nobody ever managed to do it
also it would be a problem as 2 devices with the same mac address (mac addresses being the only truly unique identifier for 2 network devices could mess up network traffic pretty much)
the other person whos ½ packets you may intercept and his yours giving you both network instablity may feel strongly against you chanting your mac address to the same as his
I'd still like to know why BenBen_ wants to change the MAC address?
Maybe he cracked the wep key of an access point which uses MAC filtering and then analyzed the packets to find out which MAC has access to the AP .. And now he wants to use that MAC.. ( I am just assuming )
