Hi,
Yesterday I installed Vito Audio Notes, but also removed it after some testing. But now I cannot get my hardware button for voice recording get back to work. In my windows\Appbuttons folder there is the record.lnk file but in the settings and then the buttons options, from the pull down menu this cannot be selected.
I already restored the link with Sprite Backup, but this was not the solution, I guess it must be somewhere else.
So I want to have button 5 (hold) again be dedicated to record voice notes by holding down the button, and stop recording when I release the button.
Anybody an idea how I can easily fix this?
Thanks,
Roel
Copy that file to Windows\start menu\programs. This made it available as a selection for the button settings. I used the radio button and it worked. Just lick, not sure why it works that way.
Superb!!! This does the trick, thanks very much bigmunny!

Mapping Voice Recorder Button (Tried but still does not work)
Please Help. I looked in the location mentioned and copied the "voice.ink" file and placed in the "Windows"-"Start Menu"-"Programs" folder and even soft reset the system but still the "Voice" selection does not appear when trying to map the button. Not sure what to do. Also is there a way to map the other 2 soft buttons? Please help. Thank you in advance.
OK, this is strange. I noticed the voice.ink file is an invalid shortcut and does not work. Also, I found the record.ink (but no .exe file anywhere on the device), but copying it to the windows/programs directory and assigning it to a button doesn't work. I have the newest official ATT/Cingular ROM.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,

I hate quoting myself, but I did some more digging.
It looks like the record.ink points to a file called hotvoice.exe. Unfortunately, the shortcut doesn't work because trying to execute the hotvoice.exe file doesn't do anything.
Was something done to the new ROM that removes the abilty to voice record directly from a button?
It worked for me
Double check you actually copied the file. I used the total commander copy function and it didn't work. I had to copy the file to the clipboard and then past it into the start menu folder. It works fine now.

For some reason on myJAMin I can never execute Messaging from the Messaging.lnk file in Start Menu>Programs - it simply doesn't work. So when I use your applet to set the left key to Messaging I need to manually replace Messaging.lnk by \Windows\tmail.lnk in your Open value for Key 112. I have also replaced the Messaging.lnk in Start Menu>Programs by a shortcut to \Windows\tmail.lnk and renamed it to Messaging.lnk. All of this is sure strange because on my Treo 700W it all works OK.
Thanks for the applet,
Frank
Worked great thanks
Thanks worked for me too. Also have the same problem though when assigning the send sms button to one of the softkeys.
Also another question : how do you assign speed dial to a soft key can not find it in the list.
Thank you!
Thanks alot, it worked with my Neo. But I cannot assign "New SMS and New MMS" to the softkeys, any solutions for this bros?
New SMS being assigned to the Softkey comes up with the error saying tnsms.exe file missing. I believe that APPLET is ripped of some device where there new SMS were started within this program. Any solution known yet?
I had the same issue..
Just copy the file attached (unzip first ofcourse) into your windows folder (on your mobile)
Works like a charm!

Mighty Jesus, that really helped. Thanks.Where did you get the file from?
I made a CAB to automatic install of SoftkeyAppletEX.cpl (from BuzzDev). Now you can put it into ext_rom

how do you remove this softkey app?
hi. somewhere here i read about an autolaunch app. do you know any? thanks,
If you make a shortcut to any application on your device, and put the shortcut in the \Windows\StartUp folder, it will load whenever your device boots up - don't know if that's what you were after, but I've not heard about an autolauncher app recently (or if I have, I've forgotten )
thanks! but.. how to shortcut? with total commmander or file explorer i can't do it.
The quickest way I've found is via ActiveSync (you put your files onto the device via ActiveSync, which is the quickest way, and then go onto your device, click Copy, and then go to where you want to put the shortcut and choose "Paste Shortcut")... See this page for full instructions (with screenshots): http://www.pocketpclouisville.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6
I copied the layout of some existing shortcuts on my Alpine when I was playing about making new shortcuts... They have a particular (simple) format. I made a new blank text file on my PC, and put in it,
20#"\Program Files\Folder\ProgramName.exe"
Click to collapse
(where Folder and ProgramName refer to the actual app I was linking to).
I saved the file as
ProgramName
Click to collapse
(with no file extension) and put that on my PPC, and it worked.
Interestingly though, all the shortcuts I looked at in Notepad had different numbers before the #\ section - I don't know whether this is to indicate CPU priority when the device is starting up, or if that's the entry number of the shortcut on the device's registry, but the shortcuts seemed to work.
ActiveSync creation is certainly the easiest way, though.
in my
I've downloaded and installed WM5 NewMenu (http://ukaywares.blogspot.com/2006/03/wm5-newmenu.html) on my device, and once I've figured out how to add a new option which allows me to directly create a new shortcut (there must be the right command switches listed somewhere!) I'll post the info up. Don't hold your breath for that though, the above method works great on both WM2003SE and WM5.
thanks done! i'll see if it works
Hi all,
I just upgraded a couple of days ago to Dutty's latest ROM. Thanks to Dutty for the ROM its great stuff and thanks to CrackWhore for writing the dummies guide to installing it. I had it all messed up until I found that.
Anyway I renamed a copy of of the MSVC exe (voicecmd.exe) to REDIAL.EXE and then copied it into the Windows directory and overwrote the original using Total Commander. I tested it and my double tap on the answer button of my headset was working as expected and starting MSVC - all was good.
Then I soft reset my phone and the next day I went to double tap for voice command and instead it did a redial. Weird right. Anyway I tried copying the file over again using Total Commander it prompted to replace the smaller file "Redial.exe" I confirmed and then got an error stating "Cannot copy or move file!". So I look in the windows directory to see what's there and to my suprise there are two files "REDIAL.EXE" and "Redial.exe"! WTF! When did Windows become case sensitive?
I tried deleting the uppercase version using Total Commander and got "Could no delete 1 files(s)!". Same happens if I try and delete Redial.exe.
Any suggestions on how I might fix this?

What's weird about it? There's a file in ROM called redial.exe, and it does exactly this - redial the last dialed number, it's weird to expect a file with such a name to do something else if you ask me.
If you do want to overwrite this file with something else though, try to copy the file you want to rename for somewhere else, not \Windows, rename it there and then copy to \Windows using TC or Resco Explorer - this should work. It doesn't matter what case you use, I think.
Hi vangried, thanks for the reply but I think you missed a bit of my message.
I did exactly as you suggest to replace the file with a copy of voicecmd.exe renamed redial.exe in the first place. Then after a soft reset I've wound up with two copies in the windows folder - one uppercase and one title case. A soft rest shouldn't change any files let alone put two files with the same name but different case in the same folder.
I was trying the process you suggest and getting the error described in my first post.
Worked for me
I replaced Redial.exe using the same case and it worked for me.
I'm using HTC diamond, WM6, ROM 2.0.X
I used this to get rid of annoying redial when I accidentally puch the button of my BT headset.
Here's a funny one,I was missing the FM radio from programes ,it worked ok from windows so I copied it to Windows/start menu/programes,and for some reason does not work from there, any ideas please.

You don't actually copy the .exe program to Windows/start, you create a shortcut to the .exe file and put the shortcut in Windows/start
Or download Resco Radio instead
I don't seem to be able to create a shortcut,am I missing something.

Use one of the following file explorers and you should be able to create a shortcut.
File explorers aren't all the same and have different methods of creating shortcuts, though its usually one of these:
1. Press & hold .exe file using either stylus or finger until pop-up menu appears then select 'Send shortcut to Programs'.
2. Press & hold .exe file using either stylus or finger until pop-up menu appears then create shortcut and move this to /Windows/Start Menu/Programs.
3. Select or highlight .exe file, then click 'file', then '>>>>' then create shortcut
As usual excellent advice, thank you so much.

well i have a small problem with my iGO 8.3.4.117940 that i couldn't solve...
i downloaded it, put it inside my HD2 and it is running fine when i press the iGO.exe button in the explorer.
how can i make a shortcut for it to the quick launch buttons?
i tried to look for it in the programs menu but i didn't find it.
maybe the problem is because i didn't installed it? (it didn't asked me to install the program, just to launch it...)
so....
maybe someone has an idea?
Long press the igo.exe and select copy on the context menu. Navigate to wherever you want to place the shortcut (\device\windows\start menu\programs\<whatever>), menu > edit > paste shortcut.
Job done.

or you can use Total commander to create a shortcut which will do the same really
thanks a lot
it is working.
