Cingular (USA) HSDPA settings? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Where can I find them? My TyTn just arrived and I have to set these things manually... thanks!

Same as your GPRS settings; it's no different

Hi there, iIam in the same boat. I do not know how to enter the settings or even where to find them. I saw the a previous reply to you said "Same as your GPRS settings," but that did not help me because I do not know what those are or how to enter them.
I woud also appreciate help on this issue.
Thanks

Cingular Settings
Ok,
This link should take you to the Cingular settings for the 8125. They're the same for HSDPA as well as plain GPRS
https://supportcingular.atgnow.com/...Setting+the+APN+on+the+Cingular+8125.#Goto101
This link is for the MMS settings, in case you need them.
https://supportcingular.atgnow.com/...ring+MMS+settings+on+the+Cingular+8125#Goto11
If for whatever reason they don't work, goto support on Cingular's site and search for 8125 GPRs settings and you'll get them. Hope this helps.

Cool, thanks! It's working.
I tried to test via dslreports.com but those Java-styleed stuff did not work, just like speedtest.net did not work...
UPDATE: http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed works and I got 811kb/s with 0.4xxms latency... hmmm, is there a way to lower this crazy latency?

It's dslreports.com/mspeed And sorry about that, I figured you knew the settings already, or else I would have posted them

I cam getting similar results. I am wondering if it has to do with the connection settings. On Telus EVDO RevA I had a latency of about 50ms and a dl speed of around 1500kbit

T-Mobile US Cab File

Hi,
Does anyone have or know where I can get a hold of this file. I flashed my Vario with the K-Jam Rom and now can't connect to the network.
Thanks
Did You mean Can't make calls?
Or internet?
Here are the T-Mobile US Settings, which is what I assume you're looking for.
Jon.
Thanks for the file. I programed in the internet settings myself, and although it was slow, it finally connected to T-Mobile for voice calls.
Cheers,

Jon - you rock. I thought I was about to spend too much additional money for a frinkin' cab file. got mms and gprs to work. now if I can just figure out how to set up email and get a wireless lan bug i have.
On the wireless side - I can get it to connect to my wireless router - but I cannot get it to browse the web via pocket IE. Any thoughts out there?
Justin Hoss (JHo)
If you are using T-Zones service you can't get IE to work straight off as they have disabled port 80 and you can only go through the T-Zones proxy. It's a pain - the way around is go into T-zones (wap.myvoicestream.com) and use the options in the menu there to get to the web pages you want - I set up the ones I use as T-Zones bookmarks. I have a feeling if you pay for the 19.99 monthly internet service you can use the IE straight but havent tried that yet
Ok, maybe a stupid question, but what does this file really do?
I had Internet service working ok with the plain jane qtek 9100 rom after making an account and poking in the right GPRS gateway, and voice calls worked as soon as I put in the sim. Text and MMS seemed fine too (at least until I upgraded to the new qtek rom - but that's another thread).
So I'm sure I'm missing something, but what actually is in the CAB?

I am not sure I understand the approach you are giving - if I want to leverage my current ISP provider and my wireless LAN connection on my K-JAM - I have to do what? What seems to be happening is I can connect to my WLAN at home - get an IP address, good signal, etc - however - when I try to go to Google or something - is says "Locating" but never connects. I messed around with the proxy setting for T-Mobile and actually turned them off - and was able to connect through my WLAN (not GPRS) - however, that screwed up my WAP setting and now I can't ge into wap.myvoicestream.com (of course). Anybody have the manual settings for the T-mobile proxy they can share? I tried reloading the T-mobile .cab file - but it errors out.
Don't you think there should be a way to use your WLAN (which I already pay for and does not cost T-Mobile any $$) and GPRS t-zones (which I already pay T-Mobile for)?
thanks works great
settings, setup? Please help!
Please help!
I installed the file, nothing seems to be changed. All the connection settings dissapeared from setup. when I go to IE, web page, right away gives me an arror message, "can't connect". before it was "loading" and it was like forever..
May be I should put in the settings manually?
Is there a detail how?
I have WM6.1 (TMobile, internet service active on the plan)
I spent hours calling tmobile tech support,, - 0!
PLEASE GIVE AN ADVICE!
Thanks a lot!
Have any of you tried my Tmobile CABs ?

CAB with US T-Mo settings that works on the latest ROM?

Hey y'all,
I just purchased a Qtek S200, and upgraded to the latest Dopod ROM (RUU_Prophet_2151327_21513121_021921_DOP_ASIA_WWE_no vendor ID), Since I'm a US T-Mobile customer, I'm looking for a CAB file (like those Imate has) that I can install so that all my settings (Edge, MMS, GPRS) get tuned for T-Mobile. Anyone has such a CAB?
Thanks, TDX
Yeah, so I managed to get the Imate CAB with T-Mo settings, but it doesn't work either, maybe because I've updated to the Dopod ROM.
So, anyone has the settings for T-Mobile USA so I can access the net?
Thanks in advance, TDX

The settings for the EDGE/GPRS are wrong. Under Start then Settings then Connections then Connections again click on manage existing connections. Highlight the T-mobile and click EDIT. Then click the next softkey and change the acces point name from internet3.voicestream.com to either internet2.voicestream.com or wap.voicestream.com. The internet3.voicestream.com is meant for VPN connections. Hope that helps.
...if you post the cab here i can edit it for you...
best regards, lutz
There you go Lutz,
here is the CAB file for T-Mobile USA (internet).
thanks a lot.
hi there
the cab file contains the right accesspoint already -
<parm name="GPRSInfoAccessPointName" value="internet2.voicestream.com" />
so that isn't the problem. tdx, can you tell me if you can install that cab file at all and what shows up under your gprs settings after the installation?
best regards, lutz
I checked and the settings were wap.voicestream.com. I changed them to internet2.voicestream.com and it works! Thanks a bunch.
Edge here in NYC is very slow (equal to GPRS). Is that normal , or is there anither setting/tweak to 'bring it up to speed"?
Am also on an Orange M600 on T-Mobile in NYC, and yes, you're right, EDGE here SUCKS.
By the way, the speeds are slightly faster on the wap.voicestream.com access point. The internet2 one is VERY slow.
Am using the latest Dopod ROM and it's much better than the Orange one.
Hey Squuid,
thanks for confirming that I'm not the only one with this problem.
Since you're a fellow US T-Mo user, let me ask you something else: except for the wap.voicestream.com setting in My Connections, are there any other settings to enter for T-Mo? Anything like Proxy, GPRS, or something else?
Thanks, TDX

The phone doesn't freeze or anything it just keeps saying opening. And when I tried erecieving apicture message it just says Downlaoding:0%. And I also can't sen. I noticed those are for the mda also and they aren't exactly the same with connections. Might that be the problem?

I'm using T-Mobile. Although in the Netherlands.
I had to use "internet" as the accesspoint name (step 9 in that data account step by step instruction), but I guess that's just different for the US. I also had to use CHAP authentication in the GPRS settings instead of PAP.
BTW I saw another step by step and this seems to be for internet connections rather than wap connections:
Use Your Phone As A Modem
Tap Start.
Tap Settings.
Tap on the Connections tab.
Tap the Connections icon.
Tap Add a new modem connection under T-Mobile GPRS.
Enter T-MobileInternet in the Enter a name for the connection field.
Tap to select Cellular Line (GPRS) from the Select a modem drop down list.
Tap Next.
Enter internet2.voicestream.com in the Access point name field.
Tap Next.
Tap Finish.
The new Internet profile is now configured and ready for use.
SOLVED! With screenshots!
I said above I couldn't help, but in the meantime, I've solved my own problems and posted the screenshots and procedures, which I hope might help you. Here's the solution with screenshots!
Basically: first, revise the T-Mobile USA procedures to eliminate any leading zeroes in IP addresses (e.g. change "...050..." to "...50..."), and second, after making your changes, be sure to power off the device (briefly press the power button and release), and then repower it. Hope this helps! Cheers,

X01HT(Hermes200) & AT&T's MediaNet Max

I just got this X01HT(Hermes200) with WM6 (Schap's 3.30c ROM) from eBay, and I am new to this forum. I am thinking to sign up with AT&T's MediaNet Max plan. Since it is NOT a Cingular 8525 phone "officially" supported by AT&T, I suspect the settings to access MediaNet and Cingular Video could be different, and if I call AT&T, they will not help because I am not using the phone they support. Could anybody help with the settings, or is there already a link (I searched and did not find it)? Thanks!

Thanks Mike for the links. But they are for Cingular (AT&T) 8525 which AT&T supports (meaning with Media Net URL already coded in the Today screen and in the AT&T ROM ? etc.) , and mine is X01HT with a non-AT&T ROM. I copied Cingular Video's URL from my son's AT&T-supported phone onto the PIE Address Bar on my X01HT, and the return error message said "CV is only available on supported 3G phones." But I know for a fact that my X01HT is a 3G phone...
Trying to follow the instructions on the second link, I did not even have Media Net on the "Select Networks" list so I could not go any further. I must be missing something and obviously a hopeless newbie. Perhaps some links specifically for using X01HT(Hermes200) with AT&T's Media Net would help to propel me into the wonderful world of MediaNetitng...
There are all different way to use the X01HT on AT&T network. If you don't mind use WM5, the esaliest way is to just DL the latest rom for AT&T - http://www.america.htc.com/support/8525/software-downloads.html.
If you want WM6, then you have to setup the MediaNet connection manuelly.

Hi maximuz329, thanks for your 3 postings responding to my question. The last one's link really helps. Now I can browse the net with URL typed into the address bar. For cingular video..you need to make sure your proxy setting are correct. However I would recommend that you flash your phone with vpg's rom...and all will work for you :

T-mobile Pro 2 Push Internet

I have been going through the t-mobile version of the touch pro 2 and I have not been able to find the settings for "Push Internet".
I did a quick google and found that the T-mobile EU version has removed it, so I assume that the US version also has the same problem.
Is this a rom upgrade issue or is there a cab that can be installed to override the t-mobile settings on the touchflo 3D 2.1?
Thanks,

I was hoping that like many things disabled from the pro 2, a quick registry hack might be possible. Anyone know how?
sorry, removed! but at least the FM radio and extra camera settings are found on this blog!
try in here...
HKCU/Software/HTC/Manila.
among the sub file:
-Internet.SetOperaForeground
-InternetPush.PostFirstRun
-PushMailOn
-DefaultBrowserIsIE
those look like points of interest. try changing the values around on those. i already turned the push mail on. but i havent seen a difference yet. maybe because i havent rebooted. but yeah, ill try those and get back to you..
I maybe too newbie but is it T-Mobile (UK?) settings?
Has the push function been removed from the ROM, or is it T-Mobile settings... I couldn't get MS Exchange to sync with T-Mobile default 3g settings so used these which worked... I don't know if it will help th push internet too... Just trying to help, if it's not relevant then flaming not appreciated!
Under the connections tab, edit existing connections...
ISP Name - T-Mobile GPRS
Name of Connection T-Mobile GPRS
Connection Type - Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
Portal - general.t-mobile.uk
Username - user
Password - one2one
The default settings use a proxy server which some applications don't like.

I took a look through the registry, I went through the whole thing. I notice in software/HTC/manila there is the settings for push internet. I messed with some settings and it looks like the push internet is enabled by default but the touchflo program is missing the push internet settings button.
Is there a way to hack the layout links on the TF program through the reg?
I dont think you can access TF settings through the registry. i have seen many settings for it. just a couple here and there. We may need a fix for it in the form of a CAB. i dont see anyone figuring this out through RegEdits. im sure a lot of people have been through it and tried different things, so we may just have to wait for a new ROM?

Push internet is a new thing in the TP2. It downloads web pages on a schedule so they're ready when you need it. T-mobile took out the feature, presumably to save bandwidth.

aahhh!!! didn't know that...thanx
I have been checking through reg again.
I think that in the Hkey_CU/Software/HTC/Manila/ we are missing some of the Keys to push internet. I see that you can setup some of the push internet features but there are no options like the URL, download times, or anything, but just below the same area allows you to configure almost every other auto download service like schedule your stock, and download times, weather, auto-download.
Maybe someone with push internet working can post a pic of the push internet settings from Hkey_CU/Software/HTC/Manila/
There's also bound to be an XML file or additional settings in the existing one (InternetPortal-en-us.xml) and t-mobile might have removed a DLL or two. What we really need is a file-comparison of the two devices as well as a registry comparison.
