Hi there guys, what is the best program to use for calling cards on WM5?
I'm use to P910i where you can activate either local or calling then click the contact....and it does the rest (phone numbers, option numbers (languages) and then code, and then contact) at a few clicks of a button.
Also, what is a good (auto) sms programs for if you're in a meeting or something?
Thanks.

also.. is it possible to use mp3 or midi files for alarms or reminders?

in order to manage missed calls, incoming notifications emails and sms,
are there others apps?
i use my magician since few weeks and i have to say that altought ppc s.o. could make many things, there are not good application to have simply phone functions..... : (
am i right?
my goal is a good screen locker, locking pda also after a missing call (standard lock wakes pda, screen and buttons are active);
good sms manager: big screen and big fonts when a sms arrives;
manage sms and mms sounds separately from other system sounds.
which app do u use for manage phone, sms and profiles?
can u advice me?
thanks in advance
photo contacts pro
For profiles and different sounds I use PocketZenPhone.
The one and only good screen locker is ScreenGuard in my opinion.
For your SMS and MMS issues, I don't know a solution. Maybe there just is no because the phone API of Windows Mobile is not completely officially documented from what I've heard.

i'll second this. For photo contacts pro v4, there's profile for your ringtones such as 'outdoor, meeting, silent & etc' apart from the individual ringtone assigned to your contacts and photo id.
do a search on aivanet or iphone-forum.org
cheers
Is there a way to assign ringtones based on category with the HTC Wizard (IE: Friends get ring1, family gets ring2, business gets ring3, etc.)? I have found a way to assign the ringtone for each specific contact, but that can be a pain when you have a large number of contacts.
Thanks in advance,
You can do that with Photo Contact Pro!
I don't think it is possible in default WM5
Doesn't mortring do that, free?

How did you do that?
shdwphnx, How did you assign ringtones by contacts?
Thanks

Edit your contact, and scroll down about 75% of the screen - there is a Ringtone option there. At least there is on my US T-Mobile MDA.
BTW, which field is used in Outlook for Ringtone? Perhaps it would be easier to assign the ringtone on PC and then sync it?

I just found Mortring, and it is unfortunately currently not compatible with WM5.

As far as I have been able to determine, the Ringtone field is not transferred to Outlook on the PC.
Hopefully Mort will update his program, or someone else will release something similar for a reasonable price. (I found a few such as Photo Contacts Pro, but they all have lots of features I don't need, and am not willing to pay for).
There is a nice app that does excactly that, i've tried it out on my k-jam and worked very well, assigning ringtones to groups and even sms tones to groups or individual contacts and still keeping the default sms notification tone!
However (there always are howevers)
Before installing the app, when i would receive an incoming call and just wanted to silence the ringer, not reject the call i'd simply slide the volume button up or down and the ring would stop.
After installing it i could no longer silence a call by the volume button, therefore my only options where to answer it or reject it.
I contacted their support team and was told that it's not possible to silence the ringer as the app's ringer is controlled by the system volume, not the phone volume..
If you're quite happy not having the option to silence the ringer of an incoming call, then i recommend trying this app.
Product Name: Ringo Mobile WM5 (by Electric Pocket) .
If this is documented somewhere I can't find it in the WIKI or using the search tool. There's a few differences between WM5 on my Treo 700wx and my 8525. The first I've noticed is that there are fewer system events for which ringtones can be assigned. For example, on my Treo I could assign a different ringtone for a known caller (in contact list) and an unknown caller. On the 8525 all incoming calls are treated the same. Is this something I just need to live with? Also I've loaded several ringtones to my 8525 and they all appear for selection when assigning one to a specific contact or when defining default tones for phone functions. However, they don't appear in the list available for selection for other events, i.e. - I'd like to assign one of my downloaded ringtones to play when a new text or mms message arrives. They're all stored in the same place as they were on my Treo. Again, is this just a limitation I need to live with? Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
hi,
I have this software called photo contacts pro, this software can let u change sms tones for each contact (like the way u change ringtones on the standard wm contacts).
But i have a problem, the software conflicts with my wm/spb shell software and as such if i change my profile in the spb shell (and standard wm setting) to say silent, it does not change.
Does anyone know of a software that lets me change sms tones for different contacts but does not do anything else (profiles etc) or has the ability to choose what it can do.
ps. i know there are settings on photo contacts pro but if u set it not to do anything but sms tones, the standard wm settings still dont work.
thanks
I've found Ringo quite good http://ringomo.com/

Hi people, I've an HTC TP2, and I was trying to set a ringtone for a callers group. I've seen there's not this capability...
Is there a software that can do it?
tnx in advance, Giovanni
+1
I need this also, or at least - on my treo 700wx with WM5 and treo pro WM6.1 I had known and unknown caller rings
I use Pocket Informant and it allows you to assign ringtones to groups by filtering your contacts via category, then selecting all contacts and assigning a ringtone to them all.
It's a handful of clicks but I don't do it every day so find it quite useful
Beh, I could try to develop it... Anyone wants to help me is welcome!
Do you know where contacts are stored?

Search for MortRing. I've been using it since my Prophet days...
In TP2, TF3D needs to be disabled to find the icon in home... I didn't understand also where to add categories...
Is there something more update?
tnx
Maybe I found something interesting:

Yes, initially when u set up mort-ring, you have to disable tf3d. categories are defined in your contacts list. If you set "A" as family, "B" as work etc, it'll appear in mortring.
After you set up mortring, you don't have to touch it anymore. It'll run in the background hidden behind tf3d

Fortunately, Tone Manager is You can use it to assign a ringtone to all entries belong to a Category.
To set a contact to Category on TP2, you need to edit your traditional Windows Mobile Contacts and not your TF3D interface. The most direct way is by:
Start > All Programs > Contacts
Note you can assign a contact to more than one category.
If you have opened your entry using address book from People tab, you can access Contacts by clicking "More" at the bottom of the entry.
An alternative is to your Contacts in Microsoft Outlook on your computer, then sync it back to the device.
hi
Freeware vipringtone does this job excellently, category, individual contact ringtones etc,. Just a search away from you. if you couldn't locate it, send me msg and I'll post the cab. Been using it since WM5 to WM6.5 works fine.
