Hi all,
I wanted to know how to do to show the files extensions on WM2005, because i search (not very well) in the registry, but i didn't found any information to show the (file).xxx, hidden by default.
How can i do ?
Thanks a lot !

You don't. You use a better file explorer like gsfinder or total commander.

yeah dats rite with all the 3rd party explorers it is possible to show the files with their extensions but not with the default one .

Sorry if this has been covered, looked but couldn't find anything detailed enough.
I'd like to change two of the files in the "windows" directory, specifically the phone app background files. (Using OzVGA they're currently not large enough).
I've made two new .bmps but cant copy over the original files (Bckgnd_Land.bmp & Bckgnd_Port.bmp) because they have the "Read-Only" and "System" attributes set. I can't change these attributes in File Explorer on the Universal, nor from within WinXPHome's Explorer while the device is connected. (I can see the attributes, but they're shaded and inaccessible).
Do I need another file explorer or something?? I think i saw a post where somene else had done something similar, but now can't find that post!!!
yes, use Resco Explorer or Total Commander
Please note that those files are in ROM, so you are not really overwriting them. You merely bend the pointer. As soon as you delete your own creation the old file handle is restored.

So what you're saying is that I can't alter these files??
Installed Total Commander and although it appears to have the ability to change the attributes... it can't. I assume that's because they're in Rom?
Hi !
I've just upgrade my 9000 with Rom 1.30.89 ITA
With the previous Rom I can move shortcuts in Start>Programs in sub-folders created by me (for example: PIE in a folder called Web)
But now i see the shortcuts (of the pre-installed applications in Rom as Word, Excel, Agenda....) in Programs are hidden files and I can't move to my customized folders, i get an error !
I have an italian OS and the error is "Accesso negato" (probably in English is "Access denied")
Same error when i try to modify the registry from PC with Mobile Registry Editor or Smartione.
What's up ?
Is not my first Pocket PC and with all my past device i always was able to move folders in Programs and edit the registry from PC, but now I don't know what can I do...
Anyone with this issue ?
Thanks
answer
cut and paste the shortcut icons. you will have to have any start menu aplications closed to do this. It will give you an error if you try to move those icons if you don't close those programs also clear out all the checkmarks under start-settings-menu. this should help
I had this issue as well on my Dopod 900. These files seem to be classified as System Files now and are hidden.
I was using Resco File Explorer and it could not see these files. But checking the box "Show All Files", the files could be seen and moved.
Using File Explorer though, I am pretty sure that it sees the files with no problems. You can move them but you get a prompt saying that this might cause some problems with other software. Just have to click OK and it moves it.
Hope this helps.

Thanks sandrobber, I always close all the running application before moving the shortcuts and I clear all the checkmarks
@capkapak
You're right when you say "These files seem to be classified as System Files now and are hidden."
Anyway thanks for your suggestion, I can move files with TotalCommander also (not only Resco) and modify the registry with PHM RegEditor
Obviously both installed in my 9000
But i would like move files and modify registry from my PC....
Ps: This is strange for me, I always was able to move files with ActiveSync and modify registry with Smartione without any problems.....
Thanks guys for your replies
Hey all, i have a problem with viewing images in "pictures & videos" after installing a dialer skin.
I've heard that i need to rename Mfc80u.dll with total commander for it to work.
I went into the total commander & tried setting the file off of read only. It wouldn't change. I tried renaming it. It wouldnt change. I even tried deleting & moving the file. Nothing worked.
Does anyone have a solution to this? I'm not a big fan of losing everything & hard resetting.
Thanks in advance!
Try Resco File Explorer, that should work!
I cant even find the file under resco. However, if i go back with total commander, the file is there.
Rasco will hide all *.dll extension files by default. go into file/options/view and uncheck the hide option to see this file.
So you're saying that Resco File Explorer can change the read only flag on a file so it can be writable Molski ??
Most odd. I've always been able to use File Explorer, turn on "Show all files" and delete the file (you don't need it) without changing any attributes.
Bear in mind that there are TWO files very similarly named and the second one is untouchable ... luckily it's NOT the one to delete or rename
Hi,
Is thr any option to select multiple files in Mega? Whenever i try to do the selection by moving down the finger on the screen it starts scrolling files instead of selection. Any tweaks???
Regards
Would be interested in that too! I know you can do single (ofcourse) and "all" but nothing in between.......
Noone knows any tweak????
Hi,
Its not possible in Mega with the default File Explorer, you have two options.
1. Google for File Explorer extension for Mega
2. use a different file explorer like total commander / resco which has these functions inbuilt
Mutiple file selsction is possible
There is stock file explorer with mutiple file selection, Just need to cab it somehow. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611783
Ok, guys just read that Resco file explorer can do the job.......and have that for you......
Thanks for the replies guys!!! Resco Explorer is working fine.

Hi All,
Last week i made a networkconnection to a NAS in my local network via Wifi.
It all worked fine on my HD2.
but now when i open the File Explorer it is really slow. (even Total Commander is slow)
WiFi is turned off.
Looks like there is some cache left on the phone or something.. when the explorer is open i get a list of the directories on the device, but when i scroll the interface is hanging for a while. this will repeat continuesly.
is there a way to clean up some old stuff?
i did do a search in the registry via SKTools Registry Explorer to search for any left items about the networkdrive, but could not find something.
Does anyone reconize this issue and do have a fix for it?
It drives me crazy when i could not get into the file explorer anymore.
its more likely that your file man is trying to remap the networkmap and failing.
not sure how you go about sorting it, i only ever use resco, but try deleting the share if its still showing in your network list on the phone.
maybe it will help..
in the file explorer try to change the "sorting by" files to name
when i had "sorting by" type the explorer was very slow
Update:
I experienced that when i open the file explorer and browsing on root the ' My Device' is just slow and hangs continuesly, when i browse to various directories or storagecard it is working fine.
so should be an old reference to the networkmapping.
But don't know how to delete, because is not visible in the file explorer
checked registrypath: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ File Explorer \
to see if there was a MRU pointed to the networkpath but nothing interesting to see
Solved !!
I used SKTools to search for broken links (search and remove or repair broken links).
There was a file called: \config.lnk which pointed to the path of the networkmapping.
does someone know how the config-file works?
fixed.
